I released an app into the Windows 8 app store called Simple Paper. It's mostly aimed at Windows tablets for hand writing notes. It's a simple, free app. I plan to add in features as I can and as I find I need something or they are suggested to me.
I'd like to know what everyone thinks of it.
Simple Paper can be downloaded from the Windows 8 app store here.
App home page
What is Simple Paper?
Simple Paper is a lightweight, hand-written note taking application designed for speed and ease of use. Simple paper launches in a ready to use state that looks and feels like a normal piece of writing paper. Designed to be easy to use, Simple Paper responds to touch instantly making any stylus the perfect writing tool. Need to take a quick note? No problem. Simple Paper saves exactly where it left off, opening the last written note instantly. Need to save something important? Easy. Press a single button to export the note to the photo gallery without any unneeded steps. Simple Paper is a versatile paper replacement that allows for blank canvases, normal lined paper, or grid paper. Give Simple Paper a try and see how easy it is to use.
Why did Kurieus make Simple Paper?
I needed a simple application to take hand written notes on my tablet. I prefer writing notes on my tablet so I’m not wasting paper or carrying around another notebook. I couldn’t find any applications I liked. The Windows 8 app store has some good apps, but none that fit me. I needed something that just worked quicker, with less stuff, and performed one function well. So, I made Simple Paper.
What features does Simple Paper have?
Simple Paper is a very lightweight app made to do one thing well. It’s not crammed with features. Simple Paper acts like a simple piece of paper (no pun intended) with either a blank canvas, ruled lines, or a grid. It can write. It can erase. It can save papers. That’s about it. Simple paper is designed to turn on quickly, be usable immediately, and be put away and ignored just as fast.
What do I need to use Simple Paper?
Simple Paper was released on the Windows 8.1 OS. All that is needed is a Windows 8.1 tablet. Of course, a stylus will be pretty handy to. If you’re looking for a similar app for Android or iPad tablets, I would really recommend Papyrus (for Android) or Bamboo Paper (for iOS). Both are great apps.
How much does Simple Paper cost?
Free. Completely free. Free as in beer.

Out of curiosity, what was your objection to OneNote? It's long been considered *the* killer app for stylus-enabled tablets, since long before Win8.

i dont have an objection with OneNote. i love that app and use it a lot for typed notes. The handwriting support isnt bad either. For my needs though, for hand written notes, it doesnt fit my needs.
I needed an app that would launch quickly and straight into a mode where i could scribble notes with a stylus. I still prefer to write notes and plan things out with a paper and pen but i love the idea of doing that with a tablet. I dont like having to carry a paper tablet and pen with me every where. With OneNote I have to initiate the drawing mode, and even then some of the screen is used by notebook views. The metro version is a lot better than tje desktop version, but still isnt perfect for me.
Also, the metro version uses the Windows 8 ink APIs. They are built for handwriting and drawing but I am not fond of how they treat erasing. With the ink API each line is considered a single object from the point the stylus touches the screen until it is removed. if part of that line is erased, the whole object, or the line, is erased. I wanted to be able to erase only what i was in contact with and not the entire stroke. In Simple Paper i create the strokes between every x,y pair singly so that only what is in contact with the eraser is erased.
Thats why i made Simple Paper. i wanted something tailored specifically to me. i released it for free in case others might find it useful and to give people options.
Keep in mind to, Simple Paper is designed specifically for tablets with a touch stylus like one that would be used on an Ipad or Android tablet. Its not the best choice of app to be used with a laptop. Its a very simple and lightweight app just made to work quickly. Its designed with a specific task in mind.
I hope to be adding more features to it as I go along. My next step is to handle palm recognition. Windows 8 has some interesting stuff to handle this so i have to toy with a few ideas i have in mind to make it work.well.

Cool! Glad to hear that you're able to make something that works for you. The comment about "initiate the drawing mode" feels odd to me - I used OneNote throughout my second half of university, and the stylus was pretty much always in drawing mode - but I'll certainly grant you the annoyance of deleting entire continuous gestures when you didn't mean to (like whole words of cursive script).
Anyhow, thank you for developing this, and making it free for us to use!

I'm not entirely sure. By stylus I am talking about a capacitive stylus and not one of that that was built with Wacom hardware. Maybe that's the difference? I'm not sure. I know when I exit the metro version of OneNote and then start the app after it's been terminated that I have to enable drawing mode again. If I am doing something wrong, I wouldn't mind knowing that. OneNote would still be very useful.
I thank you for the praise though! By all means, if anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask. It only helps me out.

Oh yeah, I still scarcely consider anything without an actual stylus (Wacom or similar, not capacitive) to be a "real" tablet computer. The machine I used in college didn't even have a touchscreen, but it was way more useful as a tablet in class than something like an iPad (or half the Win8 tablets) would have been. I could have made the tablet act like a mouse, I think (to select text or something) but I could also use an actual mouse for that (which *could* have been used to draw on the screen, but by default wouldn't).
That also explains why you're worried about palm detection, which was confusing me. An actual stylus - as opposed to a skinny artificial fingertip - is recognizable by the OS as a distinct input that should override touch, so there's no need to worry about other palm detection at the same time.
Given how common machines with nothing but capacitive touchscreens are, though, this tool definitely fills an important role.

adding progs to the orientation & wireless manager launc

Hi,
Great forum, I've had a shufty around a can't find out how to add icons to the section at the bottom of the screen where there is a line and you have the two icons for the wireless manager and orientation.
It'd be good if you could add your own icons to this don't you think? Like TDLaunch but it's already there!
I'm gonna add a moody picture with an daft arrow just in case I've been rambling away!.

Be interesting to see how its done.

Have a look here
HKLM\Services
particularly Power\ShowIcon
etc.
I believe your program needs to register as a service to be allowed into the lower status bar.
bubster mate, are you very new to the pocket pcs?
The row of icons are called the Tray, displayed on the Today screen.
You can use various programs to add your own applications to the Tray.
I recommend PHM Tools, check it out normally here:
http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/PowerToys/
however, the link doesn't seem to work. You're looking for a prog called TrayLaunch.
However, if you're interested, I wrote my own, called VJTrayLaunch.

You will need to be able to make shortcuts; do this using an explorer program like GSFinder+, my personal recommendation.
EDIT: Guys read through the thread. VJTrayLaunch is only for launching one or two apps. Don't use it for 15 etc, read lbendlin's posts.
I will be updating this at some point. It's safe for a couple of icons, but more than that and you'll be limiting resources for other programs.
V
wow, learning a new word every day... "annunciators"
I guess it's back to reading the Boling book...
Vijay, why is your program resident once for each icon? Couldn't you make it re-entrant?
lbendlin: which version of Boling are you reading?
My program is resident for each app because I wanted it that way, absolutely basic and lowest resources possible without any configuration.
Each icon can be unloaded from its menu subject to user's choice.
I don't actually use the tray at all, preferring to entirely remove it from my today screen:
However, VJBigPhone needed a tray icon, so I had to learn the code, and this was merely a spinoff from that exercise. Someone had asked if there was a fair alternative to PHM's app, which is what I would use if I used the tray. I didn't know of one at the time, but since I could write the code, I did, just in case it came in handy...
What are VJTrayLaunch's overheads like? I've never used it in practise, so have no real experience of it, and haven't measured it...
V
reading the Third Edition.
I have replaced my cLaunch today plugin with a number of TrayLaunch shortcuts. Much better use of real estate. I'll watch the performance impact.
Does WM5 still have the 32 process limit?
lbendlin: I'm really not sure, I've not looked into it the task limit.
re Boling, yep me too. I'm learning everything I know from there and a huge Windows reference book, and C++ for dummies I'm only on Chapter 5, so obviously you'll see the theme of my apps change as I progress!
Re cLaunch, if you're using many shortcuts, or even a few large ones like me
a tabbed icon launcher is useful for thumb friendly size. My cLaunch setup is configured to give 4 banks of icons (1: quick calls, 2: apps A, 3: apps B, 4: phone profiles and volume control), tabbed with the arrows on the left.
So all is easy to navigate with the thumb (I've actually moved over to my unreleased plugin VJEphemeris that replaces several other plugins, but it works on the same principle).
The tray is very small, and good for some apps, depending on use really; I'm always looking for a better thumb friendly Today screen. Hence tabs and claunch, tray is too small for my use. Post a screenshot so we can get an idea!
On WM5 I've already written code to remove the tray from WM5 and shrink the soft buttons:
which I will provide as an option in VJToggleTodayWM5.
However, I will also be working on an expansion of my program HideStart to allow me to relocate the tray to somewhere more useful for me on WM5 (this is WM2003 screenshot):
I think the tray is very useful, but it's a crime it's not always visible. But there's just no space on QVGA. So I made it optionally visible anywhere, toggled with the start bar.
I've just had a cool thought: tabbed tray icons! I've not seen those before, and they could be quite feasible. Might look into it. What do you think?

I like the idea. I was planning on investing on a launcher, but after reading your post, I'd rather wait for you to develop this. Plus I'd rather pay for this rather than a launcher. EXCELLENT idea!
I'm such a glutton for punishment coming up with these ideas!
cktlcmd: I still highly recommend cLaunch. I had some good exchanges with its author and the code is mesmerisingly cool from a geeks point of view! Way over my head, that guy's a genius.
I just had a thought about how tabbed tray icons might be doable. I'll try to look into it, but I'm afraid it won't be too soon, unless I really find myself possessed by a eureka moment and can't stop myself (they happen surprisingly often!)

I am sad to report that I have switched back to cLaunch. The 32 process limit still seems to stand, and my 6 TaskLaunch instances created all kinds of funny situations where other programs would be closed for no apparent reason. So, Vijay, time for a re-entrant version? ;-)
lbendlin: I'm really sorry, I didn't understand why you were asking about the 32 task limit, but of course now I understand!
I believe WM5 is also limited to the 32 tasks as before, and this is "addressed" by using services! That's not a solution. for others, read this
You've made a good observation. I clearly recommend PHM tray launcher myself (I never use the tray, I use smallmenu personally) but this was made just for launching one or two distinct tasks. I'll amend the first post to reflect this info.
I'm giving thought to how to do tabbed and multi icons. I didn't address this previously because it wasn't what I wanted, but I can see the value of it with some of my other hacks. It probably won't happen too soon, I'm developing another couple of larger projects before I can come back to this, but I will work on it. Hopefully someone else can do it first!

Best software for one handed operation

Hey guys, I'm loving the Xda Trion (Hermes), but I'm finding it's use as a phone / SMS device a bit sub-par. It's so annoying to have to use the stylus to send a quick text message, for example, and having to use the built in keyboard and trying to text while walking is a non-starter.
Basically, I'm just wondering what third-party software other people are using to make the Trion more of a one-handed phone (in the style of a Sony Ericsson K800, for example). I'm in particular need of a half decent SMS app, that lets me use the touchscreen with my thumb. It doesn't matter if it's free or commercial software; I'm interested in anything that can make the phone functionality of this pda better.
Also, is there any third party software that can improve the camera? Or anything that can manage associations (i.e. the applications which open whenever a file has a certain extension e.g. ".avi").
Cheers!!
Many different questions warrant many different posts, best not to lump them all together.
For managing associations, I use GSFinder.
What do you want to do to improve the camera?
Have you tried SPB Mobile Shell (re one hadned use)?
V
Hiya!
I would rather lump them in altogether so that I can get lots of different answers and opinions to look over in the same thread!
Regarding the camera, seeing as it's essentially a software program which takes the pictures, I just wondered if there is third-party software out there that provides a better interface to the camera, or removes the blurriness from photographs.
Haven't tried the Mobile Shell. Does this improve texting with one hand?
Edit: The camera and file associations thing is secondary really. It's the calling and texting with one hand that I'm really interested about.

Mobile Shell doesn't help with texting, but makes all the other functions more or less on your phone much easier to operate by thumb! Free trial available.
For texting, try Tengo Thumb, which means you can just use your thumb(s) to input text, no stylus needed. Free trial available.
I think the moderators generally advise keeping posts to one topic (although the moderators are the worst examples for not doing this), and then making sure that your post title matches your post, eg
"Miscellanous musing and ruminations on the use of single digit physical input, improving the camera software and how to assign file associations".
And squeeze that into the topic title length limitation!
Check out the various text input (SIP) replacements that will let you define your own large input keys. Some are free.
I wrote a skin for ThumbKeys once, which I found to be particularly effective.

Hey vijay, nice to see u're back
What "thumbkeys" are you refering to?
Sorry. my bad Glancing at my own old posts show that I have some kind of Freudian oversight embedded in my mind - it's not thumbkeys, despite me always referring to it as such, it's Touch Keyboard - http://www.orthancsoftware.com/TKeyboard.htm
I haven't used it for many years, since moving to the Hermes I use the SIP less and less. But for relatively large amounts of input on a non keyboard device, Touch Keyboard was the easiest for me to skin to my satisifaction, after trying many types of skinnable keyboards.
There are other more "conventional" SIPs for use with big thumbs.
If you're a real psycho you can check this one out:

PS: yeah, I don't know if I'm "back" yet, I've been super busy at work (I'm a lawyer and we just got absolutely blown out of the water on this big case that took 6 months of last year up).
But hopefully I'm logging in again, and it's nice to see that not too much has changed! Some new faces, lots of new roms! I found it rather amusing to see some of my stuff in http://wmblack.info/

ei, i dunno exactly what u want but i hope this cab file helps with regard to your problem with "making your trion a one handed phone".. this one looks like the phone pad in the xda mini.. you could compose SMS the same way when you do so with an ordinary cellphone.. works great with my xda atom. u have to install it in the main memory k? i couldn't remember where i got it.. hehehe.. hope this helps..

What I do is that I have installed the "Smart Dialer 2.0" which can be found at www.pocketpc.myluckypda.com.
Using this application you search for your contact using T9 (Very good for one handed operation due to large buttons). Once the contact is found this application has the option to take you directly to messaging application with the touch of a button. From here on I use the "SPB On Screen Keyboard" to type the message and send it. Alternately I can also use the slide out keyboard on my Jasjam but I am a bit reluctant to do so for the fear of its getting loose over time.
And if you want real one handed operation I suggest you use Smart Dialer to search for the contact and take you to the messaging application, followed by the Intellipad as has been posted above.
Regards
Hey guys, many thanks for the excellent suggestions so far! I'm gonna research these when I get back from work today.
Cheers!
Just wanted to say I'm using the Intellimate Phone Pad and it's awesome!
One thing I noticed though, it's actually an HTC cab, dated 2004. It does the job, but I'm just wondering if there is a newer version out there. I like to have the very latest version of all my apps!
Vijay,
Which of your apps (or is it someone else's?) makes your top bar have all of those icons with the counters for how many SMS's, missed calls, etc.
That seems like an excellent usage of the real estate!
You mean in this screenshot? Or something else?
V
yes, that screenshot.

[APP] Seismo - v0.12 20/09/2008

Hi,
Here is a small application which uses the accelerometer and draws a small graph. It uses the g-sensor managed DLL from Koushilk Dutta (and you'll need the .Net Compact Framework 3.5 to run this on your Diamond)

screen should not turn black while Seismo is running
now the scale is inverse tangent like
Have fun (though fun won't last for a long time with this )
PS: and I already know that this is silly and useless, and ugly...
nice tnx. downloading now.
(the best GODZILLA detector there is XD
Thanks in deed... I was just looking forward for this thing... Pencil is a cute user interface
Just a couple of question or feedback let's say:
-- The seismo in iphone was much more sensitive than ours... Even somebody's walking in the room was enough to disturb needle. Is it all about hardware? The response of accelerometer?
-- This lovely program is only deviating in "normal direction to screen" as far as i observed... I haven't seen a real seismograph, but is it always the case? Or should it react against the "resultant acceleration of three directions"
Thanks for the program...
Great APP, I've waited long for Seismograph for Diamond.
However it would be nice to:
1) change the pencil with the proffesional needle image?
2) make it more sensitive (or let us choose the sensitivity ),
3) prevent the screen from fading when the APP is running,
4) add some sound?,
5) add the possibilty to save the session,
6) maybe add the Richter scale meter somewhere underneath?
Heh, a long list, but I hope it will help to improve the APP
Haha... Love it!

I'm not sure about the sensitivity, maybe it's the scale i've used (a logarithmic one may be needed, as the iPhone version has)... I'll try some adjustments... but i'm not trying to compete with the iPhone version here nor the results can be compared. iPhone's Seismometer measures some "energy" and not the raw acceleration. Maybe they square it or they integrate it, i don't know...
You are also right: I'm only measuring "up and down" accelerations. It could also use the norm of the vector if you think that it makes more sense.

Here my ideas for processing of raw data coming out of port:
1- As you've suggested, a log scale may let you magnify the result. Actually it will not magnify but it will let the output be scaled on a narrower band (visually). it means you will have a bigger space to plot data's. So you can increase the output by some constant (multiply with 10 let's say), or even maybe take the cube of the output (taking square will cause problem because negative results will turn into positive then) So we can see even the very small disturbances. and since you use log scale, big oscillations will also not be problem, they will nicely fit on your log scale.
2- Secondly norm of the vector seems like a better idea. Because we're not looking for something scientific or something based on real scales, you can use a resultant vector. The users only want to see the movement of your pencil in any case of disturbance. So sqrt(x'2+y^2+z^2) will be a more useful raw data output just before multiplying with proportional constant and scaling on log paper.
One more time thanks for your effort....
Very very very cool.
thanks very much for your time and effort
Highly appreciated.
works flawesly no probs with sensitivity HR...try to put Dia od table and you will see some vibrations even without any "seismic activity: so maybe appreciate option to stabilise common distorsions caused by HW such a very small iregular deviations...but leave to measure also this small distorsions so to do some switch...but very very amazing app...
I hate iPhone and iPhonemania but its good inspirations for all WM community
Very nice app.
Some suggestions
-exit button
-You can also do this with sound (decibel meter?)
-scale option
-real needle image
Great work so far thanks
Thanks for your feedback and suggestions, I'll try to improve this draft - I did not spend a lot of time on this as you may have guessed
I'll try first to change the scaling, find or draw a "needle" picture and have an exit button.
Stay tuned...

several small questions - would it be possible to somehow save the data / the graphs?

Was I mistaken in thinking this "Galaxy Note" would be a better digital whiteboarding tool than an iPad?
Is there any way to project a drawing/notetaking app to a computer? Why are there NO simple ways to mirror your screen to a PC or mac? Tried allcast, looked at Samsung mirroring, Mirrorop, but none of it seems to be as easy as it was on my iPad (airplay to an airplay receiver app on my computer).
The S-Pen/active digitizer works SO much better than the Adonit Jot Touch, but I'm extremely disappointed in the difficulty of getting the picture to a projector.

Yes, the chromecast allows you to project video, pictures, and music to an HDMI input that's on the same network as your tablet, but
a) as far as i know, it doesnt work with projecting any app (like i said, i already tried allcast)
b) this won't help when I need to present to a room that only has a VGA connection
This person seems to have had success using a Samsung All-Share Cast Hub and an HDMI to VGA connector:

Much appreciated, gbuch!! I'll definitely consider it. I'm not opposed to spending money, I just don't want to add more to my travel kit, so i was hoping for a software solution (even one thats costly).
Honestly, I'm absolutely stunned that this is this difficult. For hardware that is so loudly proclaimed as being for business applications, the fact that there isn't a way to get the picture from the tablet's screen to a PC/mac is disappointing. There's mirroring built into the OS(!!), it just is somehow more proprietary (or less widely used) than Apple's AirPlay. That's the most frustrating part: I can see the feature in the settings, I just don't know what I need on the other end to "catch" the signal...again, this should be doable with software on a mac or PC, not just with a Samsung Allcast :crying:
Re: Whiteboard presentation
I know you mentioned MirrorOp, so I apologize if this is not helpful. I teach math at a small college, I have been using the note for over 9 months as a digital whiteboard using MirrorOp Sender for Galaxy and MirrorOp windows receiver. (and SNote as the whiteboard tool). While the delay can be noticeable (up to a second sometimes) on the highest resolution settings, I find as a whiteboard tool, this delay is acceptable. In 9 months, I have had, as hard as it is to believe, no software crashes, dropped connection, etc. In my use of it, once my tablet and laptop are on the same wifi connection, I run MirrorOp Receiver (and maximize it), then run MirrorOp Sender on my note, it finds the receiver very quickly, I click play, and am good to go for the next 50 - 75 minutes lecture. (assuming I remembered to turn off screen saver, etc on my computer) It mirrors everything, have made my iPad wielding colleagues quite jealous, as pretty much the iPad is only good for power point presentations, since it does not have the precise pen input of the Note. Hopefully this was helpful, as I know you said you had tried MirrorOp before.

About that, chromecast in its latest software permits you to cast your screen completely with a little lag caused by the high resolution but completely bearable. Try downloading the chromecast app and select the option to cast screen on the left panel. It cuts the notification bar, i guess because of the aspect ratio between my tv and the tablet screen; again, bearable. On top of that, when papyrus detects screen casting, the app permits you to cast only the paper and not the interface like the bottons to select the pen and so.

Vga adapters are cheap but you will sometimes need an extra 5v microusb powersource and an extra 3.5 jack cable for sound but i think it is still better than carrying laptop and everything. I would have tried with mine but i need a male hdmi(My adapter) to male adapter(Chromecast) to make it work.
I know you said you didnt want to add hardware you your items but it is not that much, i am just here informing. .
If anything, you could also buy an mhl adapter. With this you would theoretically not have any resolution loss whatsoever (Not very relevant in a normal classroom proyector) and lag would be unnoticable. Downsides, you would still need the vga adapter and you would also have less freedom of movement with the cable directly connected to the proyector. "Upsides", I am not sure, but maybe you would also spend less battery.
Cheers.
Sorry, I didn't find a way to scale the images on the post to a better fitting size.

Windows 10

Untill we get a new subforum for it, i suggest we use this thread to talk Windows 10.
Personally, i wanted to discuss the 4 things mentioned below, but don't at all hesitate to give your own comments/pros/cons, this should really be considered general Windows 10 chatter, if you have some question google cant answer yet, this would be a great place to ask, if you want to share your experiences with the upgrade process, this is the place, etc.
Tablet mode
First off, tablet mode, i have to say i'm quite shocked by this, while i do actually appreciate that Microsoft made a much clearer split between touch and 'desktop' input, that touch interface is just ridiculous, im running W10 on a so-called Convertible (a cheap Chinese one, a Pipo W3) and i've already disabled tablet mode as a whole a mere 30 minutes after finishing up the W10 installation.
To name some of the weird quirks it has, for example, you can open the start menu (or metro overlay? whatever its called) by clicking the windows button/key, but then you cannot close it with the same button/key..?! Or the fact that you cant right click the desktop. Or what about when you start putting (program-) windows side by side, and then you cant properly change those windows anymore without closing the side-by-side view..
Whats also quite the bummer, for the people that do wanna use it, you cant seem to set it up in such a way that if something happens (say, the keyboard gets detached or the device rotated to a certain angle) it will switch to tablet mode, you just get a little toggle button in the notifications area that you press to toggle between tablet and desktop mode, kind of a missed opportunity. (it does have a "when this device automatically switches tablet mode on or off" setting, but yea, the actual automatic switching is nowhere to be configured)
Having said that, im fairly sure tablet mode does have its good sides too, one thing i did like is that you can actually set up your task-bar to show different things based on if your in tablet mode or not, which is a nice little feature, but besides that i simply haven't used it long enough to see more of its good sides.
If you dislike tablet mode like me, then you can go here to 'disable' it:
Start -> Settings -> System -> Tablet mode
Just set it to go to desktop when you sign in, and to always ask before automatically switching, and your good to go.
Windows update doing "half assed torrents"
This is something that i didn't really notice yet, until i saw an article about it on some dutch news site, it turns out, theres some sort of update sharing going on in Win10, if i download and install update, and a guy near me then goes to download it, he may actually get the update from me rather then from Microsoft, in effect, eating my bandwidth. While i totally understand why Microsoft did it (lowering the load on their servers) im not all that happy with Win10 just whoring my connection, it might be another story when its done in a local network (which is actually an option) but using this feature online, no thanks.
So, if you wanna mess with that setting, go here:
Start -> Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Update -> Advanced options -> Choose how updates are delivered
I suggest switching it to only do it for your local network, or just turn it off completely.
(i should note that its doing this over p2p connections, although apparently you can have multiple connections, which is why im calling it "half assed torrents")
Scaling
This is something i guess i cant really blame Microsoft for, its just what the world has come too (thanks too bs 'retina' marketing mind you)
When you've just installed Win10, it will have way to large UI elements, most likely because a lot of small devices these days get high resolutions.
Microsoft prolly figured that everybody's gonna install it on a 10 inch 2560x1600 screen, so on default, the UI scaling is set to a whopping 200% which is way to big for my taste, if you agree, heres where to change it:
Start -> Settings -> System -> Display -> 'Change size of text, apps, and other items'
Personally i set mine too 150% though ideally i would like to set it to something like 135%, 125% is a little to small, 150% still a little to big, but i cant choose it with that much detail, the options are limited too these four: 100% / 125% / 150% / 200%
UI Consistency
Last but not least, this just has to be mentioned, im a bit disappointed by the fact that Win10 still has a random mix of "old interfaces" (windows 7 and before) and new interfaces (windows 8 and after) wich makes the whole of it look a bit messy and unfinished here and there. One of the best ways to underline this is to just link too this guy's tweet, couldn't have said it better myself:
Pick a menu, ANY MENU... AND STICK WITH IT PLEASE.

And the rightclick menu's are just one of the things, theres more flaky UI all over the place.
So far with my comments on Win10, they're mostly 'things that could be better', but theres plenty i do like as-is in Win10 aswell, allthough nothing really pops out, obliviously the return of the start menu is great, the fact that you can have multiple desktops is cool, Cortana isnt half bad, and some other things, but in general, i was mostly just looking for "a proper windows experience", which Win10 does deliver, once you find your way around.
Now how about all of you? what do you like/dislike? what are you running Win10 on? got any tips (perhaps similar to the ones above) on getting a better experience out of it? Discuss!
Edit: Ok, guess i misjudged interest to chat about Win10, sorry
No comments is sad in deed
Personally haven't installed W10 yet. To much cloudy business going on.
Though I wanted to try in on a 8.1 tablet, and guess what. It doesn't upgrade... nice going MS. ?
It is a smart move from MS to attract mainstream folk to conduct this launch hype and lure
People to share there information in the background etc..
I have been using Windows since 1.0. But I have to say I'm a bit disappointed the tablet
didn't upgrade. It's standard for tablets to use wim set up, yet they(MS) seem unable or unwilling to add a decent upgrade mechanism even after al this Windows 10 poeha.
Yes, I could install it in a more technical tinker manner. But I'm not that motivated to waste my time on this.
Btw, the added tweet is funny
i love windows 10 on my tablet. massive massive improvement for tablets/touchscreen.
as for tablet mode, just click the notification symbol, then tablet mode on/off (bit quicker than above posters method)
i still prefer windows 7 for my normal desktop,
