Are you using wall adapter? Have you tried with USB cable and PC? Have you already tried to unplug \ plug the cable?

For some reason my Epic 4G doesn't prompt to mount as USB Mass Storage device or anything for that matter like it used to. Now when I plug it into the usb port on any computer it just starts to charge. USB debugging is disabled. Is there anything I can do to get the prompting option back?
Probably a dumb question here but did you try different usb ports or a different cable?

Yeah, I've tried different cables, and different computers as well.
Had the same problem, I was using an Micro USB Cable from an LG phone and it wasn't prompting for mount, used the samsung one that came with the phone, came right up.
Not sure if it helps but just try the one that came with the phone.
I've also had this same issue. I think this is what it is.
I too used a cable from an LG Phone and it did this as well. Turns out the cable was a charging only cable, couldn't do data. This could be what you're running into.

Well, just grabbed the cable that came with the Epic, and it worked! I could have sworn I tried it, but maybe not. I have so many micro usb cables laying around, I guess I better make sure I don't lose this one.

That makes alotta sense. I was using my cousing EnV touch cable and it wasn't giving me the option. I'm glad I have a clue now!

I think the biggest advantage of using a cable that doesn't do data is that they normally give more power to your phone since it doesn't have to do the extra work of transferring data.

Yeah, I was reading somewhere about some pins being shorted on charging only cables that allows the phone to draw 600mA from USB just like it does from the wall. The phone can tell the difference and will only prompt when it receives the trickle charge of ~380mA which you get from a non-"shorted" data cable.
Hey just wondering if I use a AC adapter to charge my Legend via USB, when its plugged in I can't unlock the phone, the screen seems to only recognise touch for about half a second, eg. I can swipe my finger to use the unlock bar but it only goes about half way to the right and the same thing for the mute button, it only goes about half way to the left.
Charging via USB connected to the computer works perfectly but it's just when I'm charging via AC adapter. Thought it was weird - might have something to do with the phone getting too much electricity through the AC?
AC charging works fo' me
It should work the same with or without charging.

In fact, one like that came with my Legend (as well as with my previous HTC phone). Did you guys get something different?
I am sorry if this already exists.
When I installed CM10 Nightly 02-Oct I noticed that when charging (both wall charger and USB cable) the phone does not show that is charges.. but it does.. and normally, 2-3 hours is full.
Also, there is no way to get the PC to find phone. When I connect it via USB cable it does not do anything.. only quietly charging.
Download mode and ODIN.. I tried... nothing.
Is there a problem with the port? But then how come and it charges?
So so weird!!
Thank you in advance

Thank you for the reply.
I tried everything.
Different laptop.
Different cable.
Different charger.
USB drivers(Google drivers and reinstalled samsung drivers and tried KIES)
The phone does not react when I plug in the charger or cable. Only quietly charges.
Even in Odin and Download mode it is not recognised(even the sound that a PC makes when you put something in USB is not there). What is wrong?
At least thank God it is charging.

Its possible one of pins could be damaged in the Micro USB, externally or internally , try cleaning like here or this
The original cable that came with device seems to be half functioning:
- slow charge (USB mode? ) 5h+
- kies doesn't recognize device
phones seems ok with other cables ...
Could someone confirm the pin layout of the original usb cable? looks like the 2 pin is missing from cable, see attachment

ok well maybe the pin's are ok, but cable is still broken:
even with wall charger it takes 5h to charge with original cable, but 1.5h with other cable
also KIES works fine with other cables, but not with original cable ...
guess I need to chuck it into the bin

Hi all,
I have a Nexus 4 phone for 6 months, and I love it. But yesterday i got something very very annoying. I almost cant charge my phone. I plug my N4 at wall, with original cable and charger, but after something like 30 seconds, it says I have usb connection, and doesnt charge. The temperature is ok, i already tried factory reset, but nothing works. I see that it doesnt charge even if device is shut down. I tried other cables, but the problem persists. I can connect it via USB, and I can access and modify files, but it slow charge, or even discharges.
I am afraid its a cell phone problem, because where I live, I dont have RMA service.
Thank you very much!

In chronological sequence, I posted three images of what happens. It says battery health is good.
If it's not cable fault maybe it's from the wall charger.
Can you try with other wall charger? i.e Samsung, LG, Asus...
If you've installed a custom kernel you could try to enable the FastCharge hack.
