I have bought a nexus 4 for my daughter and I would like to block a guys contact on her whatsapp,
If I use the normal whatsapp blocking she can unblock it easily. What I want is to block a number on her whatsapp such that its not visible to whatsapp at all

Sorry there is no such mod/settting in official whatsapp to block a contact as like you are saying..
Should I be the one that says that's bad parenting? The more you cage a bird, it will take its first chance it can escape. Who's to say she will use another phone instead of the one you gave making your question rather useless.

Hi, Misledz I know u from this forum since... years, and I respect u a lot, but I don't think he's asking how to educate his daughter. I also think that's bad parenting, and I wouldn't do that, because I think u have to let ur sons and daughters crash with reality and problems, but that's not the funtcion of this forum, is it?
@7thAkash, as they said, there isn't such mod, but if she wants to contact him she will use facebook, viber, skype, or whatever.

Hahaha likewise. I didn't mean to do so but I apologize if it does seem that way, was just trying to explain the logic behind that decision. Since I had to bring up my sisters the same way. But I agree with you on that.

The easiest way is edit the contact to remove the country code lol. The way whatsapp works is it makes sure that the country code-phone# matches before it displays. I've had some contacts without the country code and they dont show up. That is until that person messages you.

There is an app which allows me to hide my contact from any whatsapp user
This means if any user even saves my number in his contact , it will still not show on his whatsapp contacts
But it will to show to everyone else except him

When my phone is locked and I receive a notification from facebook or facebook messenger or ebay and I try to access it by dragging down the notification bar while the phone is locked, I simply press on the notification and nothing happens.
With whatsapp I dont encounter this issue.
Does anyone else experience the same?

Same here, some apps work some don't. The one that bothers me alot are facebook apps can't be open from the lockscreen by tapping on the notification T_T apps like gmail or SMS work normally.

I dont know. I noticed that if you click on the notification of facebook for example, it opens it but it just doesn't unlock the phone. Seems like it doesn't have the permision to unlock the phone. Maybe it will be patched in future updates... I used that feature to open FB messeges alot..

I have the exact same issue! Glad to see I'm not the only one. Hope it will be fixed in the near future..so far these 4.3 bugs are annoying me quite a bit
That's one of the common problems that Android 4.3 is suffering from Samsung has halted the rolling out until resolution of those critical problems

after a long wait i received my note 4 snapdragon this morning first thing i did like most people was to check for update OTA & there was one an miui 9.0.5.0 so i updated the phone however i noticed Notifications are not working,i'm not been notified for any of my apps like ebay,email,gumtree,youtube...etc this to me is a real Deal Breaker a phone which can't display notifications is like having an old 90's classic nokia phone,i had an old LG Magna which was working perfectly displaying all notifications on android 6. what can i do to fix this issue ? phone looks great but software wise it's broken

looks like you are new to miui, go to settings and go to notification ,there you have to enable notifications icons .

nope i had used miui 9 and i am one of the fan of miui , and i never face any kind of issue ,
or if you want to jump custom rom then pixel experiance 8.1 is the best option ...

Unlock bootloader and flash custom rom

Change your phone location to taiwan...then check for ota...you will get an ota of 309mb for miui 9.0.7...this update solves the notification bug...after updating.. again change the location to your country...i did it today...i m from India...and all the known bugs are gone...must give a try

i was about to do this but someone on the MIUI forum said MIUI updates are specific for the region they're released for & won't be the same as other regions. i wasn't sure if this was true but to be on the safe side i didn't update. what do you think ?

one of the main reasons i bought the note 4 is because i really liked the MIUI OS & i can do without the hassle of unlocking my bootloader i feel the phone runs more stable on official updates

I haven't tried it myself but I always thought notifications weren't working for me if things like battery saver or miui optimization were enabled in developer options. for example I can receive textra sms notifications fine and a few other apps but not from Line messenger. I never tried disabling it to see if it fixed I'm just guessing but I did google about it before. some will say turning off miui optimization fixes certain things. that could make sense if u stop letting it mess with background data to conserve power. others will also say it's a problem with miui 9 itself that xiaomi needs to fix
latest firmware update has resolved my issues but i had to use outlook app for email as the stock email app notifications did not work

Does anyone know why it takes 5+ minutes to download a 40mb app. I did a factory reset and the way things are looking I'm looking at about 6hrs to download all my apps. My WiFi is 400mbps so it's pretty fast. I tried clearing the cash for the playstore and play services to no avail. Any ideas?

Same experience here. Did some tests in comparison to my Oneplus 6 which is at least two times faster. I tried with different S10+'s, same results. It's a nice phone, but you have to be patient

You can use the app Always On Edge for that purpose.

Not that I know. I know that good Lock adds functionality to edge lighting but not that function in particular. Maybe someone else could chime in. On a brighter note I saw in a Samsung forum that Samsung was working on giving the lights around the camera some of those led functions. It didn't come from Samsung officially so who knows. That being said RIP phisical LED!

Well that's normal behavior. The only progress bar you'll see is in the app store itself and if you happen to be using one of the apps being updated it might force close. I'm not sure sure what the question is. Maybe a bit more details in regards to what you're trying to accomplish might help. ?

Hi All
Im experiencing a drop in data connectivity once in a while, be it with browser, fb, ig, youtube etc. BUT my 4G icon is still available and present at the navigation bar with full service reception.
I called my provider if there is any issues on their end but they said all is fine up and running.
Anybody having this issues or isit my baseband faulty or some kind? Snapdragon hardware btw. I have hard reset it by using the buttons but still no use.
Im an avid android geek having 3 4 phone changed in a year but this is by far the most frustrated device yet
Please help do i need to turn off some settings or what not?
Hopefully its just a software glitch or something it would be a hassle to send in for investigation.
Did you try a "Reset network settings"? That would probably be my first step in troubleshooting.

No need to remove it. After latest update, deleting old scan and setting a new one it works perfect even with "prebuilt" protector.

Depending on the keyboard you're using just press + or whatever you do if you're adding a picture and select the AR emoji you want from your album. Is that not working for you?

I can do that but I cannot find in gallery, or anywhere else, the AR emojis. It only seems to work in the stock Messages app as it puts a dedicated button for this purpose in the input box.

Are you sure it's the stock messaging app or is it the stock keyboard?

This little app uses Samsungs Always On Display (AOD) as notification indicator.
It turns on the AOD on notifications and turns it off when notifications are cleared.
The app has almost zero impact on battery, but gives you a clear visual feedback on incoming notifications.
Sounds simple, but works even better!
Simply select which apps are allowed to turn on Always On Display and get notified on important notifications.
Furthermore you can ignore notifications when the phone is unlocked, so they wont activate the Always On Display.

While I had this app installed, the feature "Tap to show' in AoD didn't work... it kept changing to Always on.
This might be a minor issue for some, but not for me.
