I've got a rooted, unlocked i9505 with firmware 4.3, and knox still at 0.
Been waiting patiently for an official XSA version of 4.4.2 (Kitkat) and nothing in sight.
This morning, the Google Play Store has been acting up, giving connecting/server errors. Have cleared Google Services Framework cache/data, Play Store cache/data as well as stopped, disabled and re-enable both Framework and Play Store to no avail.
The next step is a hard reset.
Given that I will be losing all info on phone, was wondering if there is safe 4.4.2 firmware I can upgrade to that will permit the 4G LTE/GSM network in Australia before flashing to the official firmware when it is released?
Thanks in advance

Are you sure? I thought flashing a stock firmware from another country wouldn't trip Knox?

Stock, yes. That means: no custom CWM, no root.

Well if all he wants is a safe 4.4.2 firmware, that's not really a problem. I'd recommend downloading Odin from somewhere, and a stock 4.4.2 firmware from sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com . I can confirm that the The VNZ and NZC (Vodafone NZ and 2degrees NZ) ones are unbranded, so are probably a good choice. Also comes with Navigon with (I believe) NZ and Australian maps, but I've had some issues with the activation for that.
Then if you want to just download and install an Australian 4.4.2 firmware when it comes out from one of those sites. Just don't under any circumstance try to downgrade from 4.4.2 to an older version.

Thanks. Will have a look. Aware that I will lose root. Just needed a stock ROM that will work. Do not intend to trip the Knox at this stage. Got the Nexus 7 for that.

Hi all im looking for some advice if anyone can help.
I have asked on another thread but I need to get this sorted ASAP
I have had my Note 3 for a week, I got it from Three UK and when it arrived it had branded firmware. I flashed the latest BTU firmware I could find on Samfirmware and all went well and I had no problems. However I may now need to return the device due to a couple of issues and if I try and flash back to the Three Uk branded firmware it fails in Odin everytime. Also if I try using Kies to restore that also fails. Is there any way back to the original branded firmware
Any help greatfully received !!

If the latest BTU firmware is the XXUBMJ3 You have now the XXUBMJ3 bootloader. Whit this bootloader You can't return to an older Firmware. It's all.
Thanks very much for the reply and confirmation of what I already suspected.
So there is no way I can get the branded firmware back on the phone at all.......that presents me with a real problem.
Thanks again

Look, I remembered now.
Have You a Nandroid backup from Your old branded firmware? If Yes make a restore from it after wipe data + cache + dalvik and must work.
I tried it one time and worked for me. It seems the bootloader not control the restore Rom, but only the installs by Odin.

To have a nandroid he would have to have a custom recovery.
If this is the case then the warranty would be void anyway through Knox 0x1.
I cant see why the btu firmware would be a problem.
It is official firmware from Samsung so is not in any way messing with device that could cause a problem

It is not a BTU problem but a Firmware XXUBMJ3 problem. It arrive at all CSC.
It's same the S4 from MH8 firmware. The reason is the secured system KNOX. Older bootloaders aren't secured enough.
The 0x1 before the warranty is a great secured reason. A Phone whit 0x1 is insecure for Enterprises and Governments.
I returned my S4 with unbranded software on it to Three and they replaced it and never questioned me...
Im pretty sure you'll be fine as KNOX is not triggered and its official firmware.
Downgrade fails MJ6 to MJ3
I have upgraded from stock MJ3 to MJ6 BTU using Odin
Due to some instability I tried to downgrade and flash my MJ3 stock. It failed 3 times. I resigned and flashed MJ6 again and that went well.
Why can't I downgrade to MJ3??
Hi Guys,
I have spent quite a bit of time reading about the officially released KK roms for the Note 3 and really just wanted to know if i was to flash, say, the Polish rom to my device through Odin, would i be able to flash the official UK release when it finally gets released? Are there any downsides to flashing a non UK based rom in this way? My phone was bought from Phones4u in the UK but i believe it to be Sim free phone, IE no Vodafone Bloat.
Whats the general thoughts, wait for the official UK rom or go for some Kitkat goodness?
Thanks guys

Ok, so:
Firstly you need to check if your phone is SM N9005 or SM N9000. If it is, good. Than it is international version of the Note 3.
You can go to sammobile.com and look for FIRMWARES not ROMs that are 4.4.2. First you have to download those stock firmwares and flash via odin (if it ends with .tar.md5) or simply via recovery if it is .zip.
You don't have to worry about the country you download (I think there is UK too) because it makes absolutely no difference.
When done with that, you can look for ROMs to flash or you can use the phone as stock.
YOU CANNOT FLASH KITKAT ROMS IF YOU DON'T HAVE STOCK KITKAT FIRMWARE !!
ONCE YOU GET ANDROID KITKAT, THERE'S NO TURNING BACK TO JB.
So, I hope you understand me. If you don't, feel free to ask

Thanks very much for the reply, its been very helpful. If i was to update to one of the international version, say polish, when the UK version comes out would that be a OTA update for me or would just not see there was an update available?
Thanks again.

Not an OTA update no, you'd get Polish OTA's -- however, soon as UK BTU version is out, grab the ROM from Sammobile or here and flash it and you'll get UK updates (not a great deal different in most EU ROMS - CSC's are multi etc

One last thing, if you do try to flash a JB rom through ODIN after going to KK you will trigger Knox warranty void...
You are trying to flash a bootloader the Note 3 no longer looks at as Stock so you will trigger Knox. This has been reported by a few people....
UPGRADE to KitKat, it is better than JB. Cheers!

Hey sorry for the late. There will be OTA updates, everything will work just fine. That's why it's callled STOCK ROM. Everything is made by Samsung. ROMs are custom, other developers make those.

Sorry, I didn't understand you at the first answer... If the update comes, it will probably be available in USA, and then in GB and EU etc... So you can visit that site sammobile.com again and seek the new firmwares. It is the same (I'm from Serbia and I use polish as it came out first). Good luck! ☺

Hey guys.
Got an N9005 and just getting really impatient waiting for the Australian XSA rom to be released. It's so close I'm sure but, was wondering if I could perhaps flash a Poland firmware for now then flash an Australian one when it's released with no problems?
In my knowledge, a few years of flashing roms etc, it seems this would update everything including my bootloader, which is fine. Heard also that you cannot go back to any previous version of android after this procedure. Which I find weird, as what if I flashed a 4.3 firmware, wouldn't this revert everything back? Including bootloader?
Anyway, not that I'd want to go back, that was more just to see what the final say was.
Moving on, so I should be able to flash a Poland room for example then update to Australian? As they are official firmware, I shouldn't trip Knox either?
Thanks heaps in advance guys.
Anyone??
Thanks!!

You can flash the Poland firmware while you wait. Almost everybody ran Poland Kitkat when it was first released.
The updated bootloader prevent from downgrading. If you try to do it via odin, the update will fail.
Official firmwares from any region will not trip KNOX.

Ohh sorry, I mean there is a separate model for Optus operator.
In fact there is N9005 that has CSC code is OPS for Optus, and there is N9007 specific for Optus.
May be you have the 1st one.
You can get your Model and CSC code by using Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app.

stock firmware, will not trip knox.
only when you flash something which is not digitally signed by samsung, it will trip KNOX (e.g : root, custom recover, custom ROM).
otherwise, it should be fine. I'm running other country region sometimes, and no problems (though my KNOX is tripped already when I root my device )
Just be aware that once you go to KK you won't be able to go back to JB. I say this as the stock experience isn't stellar with the sd card problem - 3rd party apps not being able to write to external sd card. Stock KK has this problem while it is fixed for rooted roms...

As stated above, Official ROM's will not harm Knox. The question you should be asking is, why do you want to flash KK? Go look at the rest of the Q&A section and see just how many issues people are having with v4.4.x ROM's.And it has been MONTHS and still they have the issues.Omega ROM is traditionally a very good platform - go check the thread and see what problems they are having.
If you want to play with your phone, KK is not needed - I've been keeping an eye on what's around and I've stayed with v4.3 simply because I have root, Philz custom recovery, Lean kernel and the Alliance ROM v2 and my phone flies. It is stable, everything works including SDCard and OTG devices and with light use I get up to 4 days of battery. Even heavy use at 3 hours screen on gives me more than 2 days.
When Samsung gets its **** together and fixes KK, or maybe releases a functional version 5, I will think about upgrades, but for now I ahve the best of all worlds so why would I go changing for something lots of people are having issues with?
I'm not having issues myself, but then again as I said I rooted it and am running a custom rom. You need to look around to find the rom that works for you... I'm still using the Androidnow rom, unfortunately it was pulled and the dev has gone, for one phone and quite like the Assassin rom on another.... Yes I have 2 Note 3's... One for daily use and one for when flashing goes wrong...
Both roms are fine with little to complain about. Battery life is excellent and everything working as it should.
Stock on the other hand may be a different story...
Oh, and its not just Samsung, google is responsible for the troubles with the sd card - they put in the new feature whereby a 3rd party app can't write to the external card unless properly signed (then only into it's own folder that will get wiped if the app is uninstalled) for "security reasons", not the unending push to get rid of sd card and use the cloud exclusively....
Can I install a carrier free version of the same firmware without triggering KNOX? thanks

You should give more details about your phone & What firmware you want to flash, to get proper guidance from someone.
Thx, I would like to flash the same firmware version but without carrier modofications to get rid of the bloat and get faster updates in the future. Version I'm running now is ANK4 and device is N910F.
No problem! If you download a signed firmware on SamMobile, you can flash it via Odin and knox will still 0x0. I did it because here in Brazil, my SM-N910C came with a lot of carrier apps and bootanimation, so I flashed a stock no carrier and it is working fine.
