Wiping data shouldn't take long at all. When people say wipe data/factory reset when changing roms it doesn't mean wipe the whole sd card. Do you have the latest recovery version? For CWM it is 6.0.3.6 or 6.0.3.7. For TWRP it is 2.6.3.0
The correct procedure is:
Wipe data/factory reset (NOT sd card)
Wipe cache/dalvik cache
Install Rom
Install Gapps
Install SU (optional)
Reboot

Redownload the ROM. Once you've downloaded just install it and wipe cache and dalvik and it should be fine.
Su, in full, Super SU is root made by Chainfire. The normal one in cm is made by Koush but you don't need to flash the Chainfire one, only do that if you have root problems

Maybe you have to flash a different pit-file first. Some updates from Samsung repartioned the system and other ROMs are not compatible with it. Please check for the size of you system. If it is any bigger that 8.9GB, you have to flash the according pit file first.

The best thing you could do right now is to reflash the rom again , and make sure your doing a full wipe , cache/dalvik/factory reset or if your using a philz recovery go ahead and choose Factory reset/Wipe to install a new rom" option or something like that.or either you can use tamirda's Superwipe from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2379104. then install the rom and i hope this fix your problem. Have a nice day.

install rom manager and download / flash latest CWM for jfltexx (international which I`m assuming is what you have) and try again
so...
1) Install 4.2, get it running
2) Root device if you haven`t rooted it
3) Download Rom manager from play store
4) Flash recovery for jfltexx (it is only listed after you press menu and view all devices / recoveries)

oke first try with phliz recovery if not than flash a official firmware with odin.
for official firmwares Here
if u want new bootloader install lastest MK or ML series
if u want to stay on old bootloader than install your own 4.2

DONT ODIN FIRMWARE FLASH 4.3!!! YOU WILL UPGRADE YOUR BOOTLOADER!!! KNOX BAD!!!
Try the official CWM from ROM manager. Trust me.
Go into ODIN mode and if you see knox then you are on new bootloader.
If not, don`t flash a 4.3 image with ODIN. You will not be able to go back to 4.2 easily

[Q] Having trouble with wipe to put on first rom

So i finally rooted and went into twrp. This is the first rom im installing. Ive done this whole root thing for a little over 4 years now.
I went to do a wipe, system, cache, dav....and its been stuck on "factory reset" for 10 mins now what do i do. did i do something wrong?
formatting cache using make_ext4s function" is what its saying
the phone shut of and i thought it was done for. It did reboot but nothing was wiped. am i doing something wrong here?
normally you just go into the twrp, slide to wipe everything, install rom, gapps, wipe cache and dav and reboot.

Crap guessing you don't have a backup......try using koush universal drivers to get your phone recognized...and use adb to sideload a ROM or use adb to push the philz cwm recovery zip to your recovery

Error flashing miui 7 rom

Hey there. So, I tried installing Miui 7 (weekly updated one) after following the steps accurately, but it says, failed to extract dir from system to system.I tried running it from both internal storage and external, and re-downloading it,but to no avail.
