Thinking of buying one is the developer and T-Mobile version are same? (because it would be good for me to get custom colors with dev edition networks).

Yes they are the same, the factory stock firmware for the Unlocked version also work with the Dev version.
I will try to get developer edition..
I hope it will be great functionally..:good:
Anyone know if we can apply the $50 off discount to this?

Looks like all the carrier versions are coming up $50 more on the website. I wonder if this will be the same in the "sale" that starts tonight? Hopefully, we get the carrier versions for $299/325 and not $50 more than that.

Hi folks,
I'm looking to buy one of the Razr M Dev version. Before I spend the cash I wanted to confirm a few things w/ folks who already have either version of the phone.
Any known issues with using these guys to tether?
How well does the radio work over seas?
Sim card size?
Will it take a 64 GB card?
Any other gochas that folks can think of?
Best and thanks!

This phone is absolutely same as non-dev. Except you can unlock it's bootloader on motorola website.
Same specs, same SIM size, same radio etc., 64Gb SD is supported - you can find thread with confirmation here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1937437

Thanks for that,
Do you think its worth the 170$ to get that dev version or are people having good luck using the safe strap program ?

The Dev edition will eliminate the need to partition what little internal storage there is but that seems to be the only real advantage.

Sounds like I should just get the regular one then. Seems to be that all of the roms are designed to use safe strap.

Last time I checked, the dev and the retail were the exact same price unsubsidized ($549). In that case, unless you could get it under contract for $99 (or even $50), it made no sense at all *not* to buy the dev edition. Where are those $170 you talk about? Maybe there is a discount for the retail version somewhere?

I was lurking about E-bay. There are a few listed for less than retail. Also noticed an "i" version w/ Intel processor but GSM Arena didn't say any thing flattering about it. I'm in AU and they run 600AU$ but are unlockable via the same Dev site. So I save 50$ by ordering the Dev one via the states.
I'm a bit put off by the lack of Development on these awesome handset though. Was starting to entertain other manufacturers because of it.
Noticed that the RAZR M XT905 is the Aussi version and does not have the version branding and locked boot loader, might have to pony up for this one 600 AUD...

Right, I was thinking that. I could flash an Aussi radio on it but the way it looks now I'm going to get the XT905 not the USA model.
Or just continue using my old desire w/ CM7 on it. Still runs great minus the flash.
All,
Last year samsung released their developer VZW N2 in 6-8 weeks.
Any info on the N3 dev edition ( 16 or 32 GB - I assume it will be black) ?
Any possible issues with availability of the device ( the S4 was out of stock for "months").
I see that there is not much hope that devs can crack this device after release -last year N2 was jailbroken in less than 14 days after release
Update:
Black ,32GB ,storage, 3200mah
Reps are saying first part of nov.
Lets see which developers will support this device
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SM-N900VMKEVZW-specs
VZW is only offering the 32 GB version, I really argued with them about it and got transferred to their marketing department that makes such decisions, had to leave a message and nobody called me back of course. I would assume a Dev version would be 32 or 64 but there's no way you'd see a 16GB version. Maybe the 64gb version is not available because (I read this somewhere on XDA) only the 32gb version supports LTE. The non - LTE chip requires more memory to give the same performance as the 32gb LTE version.

Aha,
thanks.
We will call u back.sure.
I am assuming that that dev edition will be avail soon - a couple of weeks after the mainstream edition. 64 would be nice, but oh well..
If dev cannot crack this open I will have to wait for the dev edition. Safe strap works on S4 but if prefer the real unlock.
N2 was (is a beast) as far as development goes.
any heads up for the timeframe of release?
thanks

Verizon's GN2 Developer Edition went up mid December last year so who knows it could come sooner. But don't expect a 64GB version we won't get it.

So a couple of weeks of extra wait. I want to wait to see if the reg edition gets jbed then get it if not get a dev ed.
Still hugging that unlimited. For now.
Thanks
If you buy a Verizon Developer Edition through Samsung, can you still get the Asurion insurance through Verizon?
In the past when I changed phones on my account I simply updated the info with Verizon so they could or should know what I was covering/insuring with them. So long as the phone is functioning at the time you add it you "should" not have any issues.
Do we know for sure vz will be getting a developer edition? I haven't heard a thing about it.
Ive read rumors on interwebs saying both will and wont get dev edition. I withdrew my preorder to wait and see if we can get it unlocked. I have faith in adam outler. He seems good at sticking it to verizon. If dev edition comes out first I'll go that way. I've experienced safe strap and theres nice features and drawbacks to it. Unlocked is definitely worth the wait

Adam stated in a post recently that he is done with Samsung products and is advising everyone to go with a different brand phone.
I was all set to pre-order an N3 and sell my mint N2, but after realizing all the downsides of a phone locked up that tight I decided to stick with the N2 for now.

Thanks

I don't think there will be a Dev edition. Unfortunate.... I think I'm gonna give the g2 a try..a Lil smaller than I want....but its not locked down.
My plan is to buy the retail version then sell it if the Dev drops or return it if there is an announcement within two weeks.
For those with more Patience it might just be worth the wait!

I'm with ya on that I'm just gonna buy the Note 3 and let the devs work their magic. I'm sure they'll be able unlock it or at least have a work around like kexec. But if all fails I'll just sell mine to a stock user and go for the developer edition.

Adam is done with samsung devices...especially since they went back to qualcom processors. If the N3 had a Exynos processor Relekdev might have a chance. However Qualcom processors utilize qfuses, which once blown, make unlocking a encrypted bootloader about 99% impossible.

yes it is. the difference is that it has access (currently) to loki, a tool that will allow a development community to grow, however it can and will be patched.
Edit: I posted the below deal this morning but it was pointed out in the replies that an even steeper Nexus 6 discount was announced today (see Phandroid link below). The 32 GB Nexus 6 is now available for $500 from Best Buy and also the Google Store (64 GB for $550).
I wish to highlight a Nexus 6 deal which I could not find listed anywhere else on XDA Dev or by Google search. The unlocked Nexus 6 is available for $550 at Best Buy. To obtain it at this price, one simply needs to ask in store for the unlocked Nexus 6 and then ask for a price match against T-mobile's online store, where the phone is currently on sale for $549.84. I also called Best Buy customer service and was informed by a representative that this price match should apply in all stores and to any purchases made from the Best Buy online store.
I can confirm this approach can work, since I was able to obtain a Nexus 6 for $549.84 in store from a Best Buy store this last weekend. However, I also found a Best Buy forum post where it was claimed that the price match was initially not honored (unfortunately I cannot include the link since I am a new member). Therefore, the ease of this approach may vary according to the representative one encounters.
As an additional note, T-mobile starter kits, which include a nano SIM, are currently on sale at Best Buy for $5. Thus one can set up an unlocked Nexus 6 on T mobile for ~$555 plus tax.
I apologize if I posted this thread in the wrong place or duplicated a pre existing thread. I will monitor the thread and delete/repost if necessary.
Is there any advantage (Other than the price right now) to buying the unlocked version -vs- the carrier specific one?

The ATT and Verizon are locked to their respective carrier. However once you have them paid off for the device you can get it unloved to work on other carriers.
The hard was is all the same.

Thanks. I'm thinking of getting one but I currently have the Note 3 on ATT and they use diff sim cards. I was going to simply pop mine in. Seems like I have to get a nano sim and add another line. I hate that the carriers have us by the sacs.

If you get one you don't have to add a line just have AT&T switch Sims and phone.
You would have to buy out right. With the T-Mobile $100 off deal is a great way to save some money. Best Buy will match the price.
Also Best Buy is selling the 64gb version for $550 not the 32gb Verizon and AT&T sells.
No need for price match anymore.

Well, even if you wanted to buy from this site you would not receive it because they don't deliver abroad. Btw it is the official shopping site of ZTE.
I'll also have to wait until it officially arrives in Europe.

I hope it does as I know a few people that would like one but can only afford a phone through a carrier subsidy. I hope the 6GB/128GB goes up for pre-order soon for the US and Canada. This is the only phone over the past few years that has interested me enough to do away with carrying two phones daily. A Nexus 6 and a Nexus 6P are both great phones, but being able to have two SIM's in one very decent device all around is what I have been hoping to see for quite some time.
The Telus and T-Mobile reps I have spoken with don't list it on what they have coming in the next few months though. Wind in Canada will probably get them in limited supply though. Being available at BestBuy and other major retailers across the US will also make them easy to find.

Seems to go along with the price that has been thrown out there. $650
If the prices from the "international pre-order" are right, we stand at 409€/449$ for 4gb/64gb version. For the 6gb/128gb version, considering adjusted conversion prices, we are at 549€/619$.
That puts us with a 140€/170$ difference between the two versions.
I mean i'm not intersted in the "premium" version but even if the only differences are RAM, ROM and Force Touch, it seems like a pretty sweet deal to me !
I highly doubt it'll be sold through and subsidized by carriers. This will be the typical unlocked device scenario.
it has not even been confirmed that the 6gb version will sell internationally....
Title says it all. Looking to pick one of these up as a tinker device. I know the Verizon bootloader is not unlockable, but are any of the other carrier branded devices unlockable? I've heard the AT&T and Metro PCS versions may be. Thanks!
I think that the Verizon version is the only one that's not unlockable. I can confirm that the MetroPCS/T-Mobile version is unlockable.
Verizon one
The Amazon ads version isn't unlockable either. Though they have removed the ads I believe.
I got the Amazon Version for 130$ Works great. I think there are cheaper version though. Just have to find one that you like, other than Verizon.
