I have an ATT Note 2 (sgh-i317) running 4.1.2 on custom rom that I rooted/unlocked and am currently using a tmobile sim card.
When I tried to update to 4.4.2 using the n7100 file, it would stall at the Samsung logo and not proceed. Luckily I backed up my NAND and restored it back to back but now it does not recognize my tmobile sim card and the model number changed to sgh-t889 which I googled and it says it's tmobile.
Can anyone help me either restore it back to 4.1.2 or 4.4.2 or even 4.3.
I'm pretty sure you can't flash n7100 ROMs, only N7105 ROMs and then the appropriate modem. I'm certain other people have done the same as you and there's a solution out there, look around (can't remember if it's modem or imei related, or other).
It may help to be more descriptive with everything you have done, ROM versions, fixes uve tried, etc.

This is my 1st post ever because every question I've ever needed answered I've been able to find.Unfortunately I cannot find the answer to this problem. Since my Post count is below 10 I cant post the question in Kangabeans thread.
This is the ROM I am using
I rooted and flashed my phone 4 days ago and ever since then my wifi or mobile connection never go above 2 bars. Everything works except data cuts in and out fairly often which never happened before while i was using stock. I can sometimes get LTE but it mostly just says H and is really slow. I live right in the middle of downtown Edmonton and always had an LTE connection before so I'm pretty sure it is an issue with my phone and the ROM. I can also be standing right next to my wireless router and i only have 2 bars showing up for wifi.
I know some people had mentioned similar problems in the Kangabean thread with poor LTE connections but almost all say it is working good which leads me to believe its something I've done. My initial thought to fix the issue was to flash a new modem, specifically this one modem_CWM_I337MVLUAMDJ.zip{4/22/2013}(Canada) from this thread because everyone that was saying their LTE and WIFI were working appeared to be on an MDJ baseband. I tried flashing the modem and nonhlos through Odin but it failed with odin saying: Failed, Receive response from LOKE. I figured my best course of action was to try and reflash the MG1 Baseband but again i recived the Failed, Receive response from LOKE. Thinking i screwed something up i decided to try and boot up my phone and sure enough i was stuck in a bootloop. Luckily all I had to do was load up recover and wipe the cache partion.
Everything is back as it was before i tried flashing the modems, even the poor connection to WIFI and Data.
Does anyone have any idea as to how I can fix this or what I did wrong that caused Odin to fail flashing??
Pretty sure I just found my answer for why I cant flash the modem. Im pretty sure MG1 is newer than MF3 (correct??) and if your on MF3 Odin wont work
I was doing some thinking..... I have mobile odin pro Can I try flashing the MDJ or MF3 Modem and nonhlos files with it or will it too end up failing??

Wow hold on! Do you have telus sgh-i337m s4? If so then you don't need anything to do with mf3. Only att and sprint have lockedbootloader. If your baseband is MDB or MDJ then you don't need Loki and mf3 kernel, in fact you'll brick your phone if flash mf3 kernel on any s4 brought in Canada.
You shouldn't be going anywhere near MF3 on your i337m. MG1 or MDJ only for us Canadians
Thanks guys I wasnt sure If I could flash those without any problems so I was waiting for someone to reply to this thread before i tried going that route to fix my connectivity issue again.
Sorry guys,
I am a Canadian with a 1337m MDJ S4 running CM 10.2
I just wanted to double check that I am bound to ROMS made for MDJ. Cannot I not update to MDL?
There are a number of TW Roms that I would like to try to get my camera and multiwindow options back Like :
FoxHound GearEngine 1.3 AROMA OR Eclipse.
Your feedback would be amazing.
Thank you
Thank God im not the only one. Look at my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2455955
maybe we can find a solution together. Im using CM 10.2 but i live in Mexico son i had to flash my carrier's modem and it seems its coming back to normal but im not totally shure... still testing this modem (all info is on my thread)
Let me know if you find a fix... thanks

I've been messing around with gpe roms since safestrap was released and yesterday I started having a problem. when I rebooted my phone I lost service. I've been using the same roms. deleted the rom slot and reflashed everything and still having the problem. I don't understand what's going on because this wasn't happening a few days ago
edit: on reboot my lockscreen says: roaming indicator off. and in settings under mobile networks, access points is missing. there's no apn settings and no option to add any

Which GPE rom have you flashed? 4.2.2 or 4.3? did you flash your kernel after you flashed the ROM?
If you read the OP it says to do so, this typically fixes cell service and wifi issues.

I've flashed quite a few. both here in the att forum and virginrom from tmobile. they all worked fine up until a few days ago. yes they are 4.2.2 and yes I flashed the mf3 modules.
btw, this isn't happening when I flash a stock touchwiz rom. running shostock right now with no problems

From my understanding, SafeStrap only supports TouchWiz roms and that's why you would or would not be seeing these problems.

You're talking about two different things here now - if you've cleared everything correctly, including dalvik cache, flashed your rom and the kernel then it should be fine. If it's not, I would find another download of your GPE 4.2.2 rom and ensure it's not your ROM that's causing problems. Just because there aren't immediate problems, doesn't mean problems can't occur later on - as you've noticed.
Or perhaps try all of the appropriate steps on another ROM slot for troubleshooting purposes.

I've done all that. I've deleted and recreated the rom slot and flashed 4 different gpe roms to see if it was a certain rom causing the problem but no it was all of them.. that's why I'm so confused because these roms worked perfectly up until a few days ago. and like I said I just flashed shostock last night and I haven't had the problem. when you say flash my kernel you're talking about the mf3 zip that hashcode provided correct?

Yes, that's correct. If you've done that - then it makes no sense. Seems you have done it all in order, accordingly. Hopefully Shostock doesn't fail on you also.

with virginrom, there was a at&t csc file to flash after the rom. other than apn settings what is this file for?

I'm not familiar with the Virginrom, but I know that CSC files are written scripts, usually for automation. They work with with programs that support OLE. Seeing that it was carrier specific, I'd think that was used along the lines of APN settings within the ROM to some degree.

That's bizarre. I would also suggest manually uninstalling SafeStrap and re-installing it but your Shostock hasn't had any problems yet. I couldn't think of anything else that would be posing a problem.

I just flashed a custom rom. However, I was extremely stupid and did not backup my device before installing. I think I may want to get my phone back to the way it was.
I went to galaxys4root.com to download the AT&T Galaxy S4 stock rom. However, whenever I tried to flash it {using twrp}, it said it failed. Any help?
My phone still works fine; I would just like to get back to the original rom.

Have you tried using the stock firmware from "sammobile.com/firmwares/"
These you can load using Kies or Odin (depending on the file).. not using TWRP

I haven't yet tried that. My phone seems to also have gone from sgh-i337 to gt-i9505g. {The rom I'm running is a Google Edition.} At least, that's what the Model number states. I've decided for now that I will continue to use this rom since it's turning out to be pretty great.
However, for future roms/getting back to stock, is it safe to install i337 and/or i9505g roms?

The ROM won't properly figure out what model phone you have, the ROM basically shows what device model it was designed for.
For instance, my phone is actually i717d (d is added as the Canadian model, phone is from Telus).. but I use ROMs made for just the i717 (AT&T model).. they are basically the same phone.
I would just check to make sure hardware stats for the i337 are the same as the i9505g, since you're using a i9505g.. i believe that if the kernel is not meant for your particular device, it could generate errors or may even brick.
If ever going back to a stock ROM, use the one meant for your device exactly.
I have Verizon Galaxy Note 3, and my problem is that Wifi button is greyed out and simply wouldnt turn on.
I have done a lot of homework so far, and before, I had 4.3 Jelly Bean, and Wifi being greyed out started around 2 weeks ago (early Dec/2014 - until then, it worked fine).
So I updated to 4.4.2 Kitkat thinking software issue, but wifi is still not working.
I had already searched for hours, and did many things to try to isolate the problem.
*I tried Safe mode
*Reset Cache/Factory several times
*Battery in-n-out, SD card in-n-out, any external peripherals i had alrdy taken everything off and tried
*Tried Alliance/Jasmine/Eclipse ROMs, but still same
*Not router issue @ home since Phone Wifi simply wouldn' turn on
I thought of downgrading back to 4.3 Jelly Bean, but there were many articles saying I can not downgrade, so I think it's out of option.
I now think it's hardware issue, but can not confirm... went to Verizon store too, and the guy just feels it's more software by 51/49, but the ultimate problem is that I just can not 100% ID what the exact problem is - software or hardware.
I really don't want to spend $ for another phone... I also feel it is Kitkat since I also found many articles with Note 3 Kitkat wifi problem, and I read a lot of them, but couldn't really find any solution to my specific issue.
My understanding is that I have 2 options - wait for proper fix by Dev/Samsung for Kitkat firmware or get a new phone
I really did everything I can within my power, and making this post is my last resort...
Hope I can shed some light from experts or anyone who knows any more beneficial details so that @ least i can try to sort my options and situation more clearly...
Thanks much in advance!
Have you tried using Samsung Kies to return to complete stock? Why didn't the Verizon tech offer this choice and flash stock firmware?
My guess is you have a baseband/firmware mismatch somewhere. 4.4.2 firmware and baseband can be found in this thread.
Or flash nc4 in odin.

ok, i did already check out your thread before, and when i had tried to download 4.3 (1st one), it had me download like .exe file, and these kind of files tend to be virus/spyware so i just didn't... i also read many posts about how i can NOT downgrade to 4.3 from 4.4 so software wise, my current understanding is that I am **** out of luck until someone fixes firmware... or am i wrong? I guess I am trying to be proven wrong, and hope someone can show me a solution to my weird unique problem...
Btw, already on NC4 (I had updated to NC2 firstly, and Jasmine got stuck on bootloop, so I got NC4 and used Odin, then it fixed the bootloop)

You specifically stated in the OP that you went to the Verizon store. They should have just flashed the most recent firmware/OS at that time.
You need to just Odin the latest stock tar or use Kies to do the same. Somewhere along the way the baseband, firmware and ROM OS have been mixed which causes the wifi problem.

Yes i did go, and i feel we are getting somewhere...
iam not like total expert on micro details on flashing, but from what i understand, baseband version and firmware are same, and firmware is like BIOS for computer while ROM is like Windows, Linux or an Operating System.
so wut i understood is that u are saying that my firmware (BIOS) and ROM (OS) are incompatible?

You have lots of things wrong in the above. So to keep it simple just get OFF of the alliance ROM, get back on the NC4 ROM and modem. If nothing else...go back to the Verizon store and have them totally wipe and reflash the phone. You can also do that at the Samsung section of a Best Buy store.

If you successfully flashed Odin and factory reset the phone (important), and tried wifi immediately after and it still will not turn on (without adding anything else) then it must be some hardware failure.

I've upgraded my recovery from cwm 6.0.4.6 to cwm 6.0.4.7
I did a back of my imei and efs just in case something would harm it and render my phone useless.
Problem:
Now I'm wondering can i go back to, either Stock 4.4.4 or a custom rom
I want to do this because the Rom is too new and not all apps i want to use, such as xposed framework and many other are unsupported. (which i should have checked before flashing)
Plus I'm not enjoying this rom due to many crashes, such as Unified Daemon (EUR)(needed for weather updates etc) and limited mobile data speeds and many mobile data disconnections, also I notice my Note 3 is running slower while using less ram than before which is very odd..
Many thanks in advance!
P.S.
I have all the files online I've made an online back up of them so which I always do for repairing purposes none of them is altered or tampered with by me.

Yes u can!!!!flash your stock rom with Odin and everything will be fine!!!
HIT THE THANKS BOTTOM IF I HELP YOU IN ENYWAY!!!!!
I was trying out some lollipop roms and in my stupidity didn't think about not being able to go back to kitkat.
After finding that a few apps I use don't like lollipop i thought I'd revert back, I went into recovery and tried to flash the kitkat rom, but it would keep failing. Panicking I remembered the nandroid backup. I restored my older kitkat rom and all worked well... Phew!
Moral of this story is always backup.
I'm now back on a lollipop rom, (audax) as so far everything is working like clockwork. But I still have my nandroid backup just in case
Lucky you! ;-p i don't have a nandroid ba-up but i do have the stock rom 4.3 somewhere i might try that after my exams are over! Thanks!
