I am getting my first nexus 4 soon and I was very excited until I read about the throttling issue it has (or I'm calling it that) i like to game on
Phones and that's why I was planning on fixing it. But if it passes 39c it down clocks everything? If I get a custom kernel and rom will it prevent this? Quadrant scores are really low.. I just hope it performs good. Oh yeah when I am gaming on my HTC Droid incredible 4G Lte if will get 55c cpu and 50-55c battery. And my phone never change clocks. Thanks for any help.

Well, with a custom kernel you can adjust throttling to your likes. My nexus performed better than my dads m7 in 3dmark

Will heat really be an issue with the nexus 4? Like I said above my htc droid incredible 4g lte can get pretty hot and it's fine but I'm not sure about the nexus. It seems 40-55c is okay.

I never had it throttling down, even in my car using GPS, 3g, BT, maps and music player at once.

I personally got horrible benchmarks on the N5 Experience. I run stock with Faux kernel with delvik and bionic tweaks. Also the Google now launcher. I installed xPosed frameworks and GravityBox to get all the same features as the other rom but still have incredible performance. Just my experience.

He he, well I didn't see any noticeable difference in benchmarks. I score about 11500 in 3dmark (with dalvik/bionic and latest adreno drivers).

Correct, setcpu allows stock kernel to go to 1.3 on interactive but setting it to performance it maxes at 1.2. You can always just change the kernel or overclock too

Because it's forcing something that's supposed to be up to the developers to enable it. If it's not enabled, it's probably for a reason.

+1, used it since ICS day one. I've also just asked this in the Franco thread, a forum mod was also advising against it. W h y???

Franco Kernel and it's companion app is great. So is Faux Kernel and it's companion app.
It's still too early to say, all the kernels are still just taking baby steps with 4.4.

All the above suggested kernels plus AK.207.KK and hells-Core-b42-t4. Each of all the above is a GREAT kernel.
Flash any of them, configure it to your own preferences. Try it for a few days or longer. From the assessment (performance/battery life/smoothness/etc) you'll determine which kernel works BEST for you.

no, this is not what he asked for, franco kernel does not have swype2wake, just double tap to wake which is useless as it goes off in your pocket if your hand is in there as well.
I'm assuming op knows to use trickster mod to turn on the waking feature?.
I found the faux123 29 mainline kernel and it's good but thanks for your guys help
