I installed Helium so I could back up things before installing the USA 4.4.2. It took me out of MTP mode and now KIES won't recognize my device telling me I must be in MTP mode. I can't find it in settings anywhere. I've rebooted and even put the Note in Download Mode but no go. How do I fix this?
Never mind I figured it out. It was in the notification shade.

After trying to Sideload the 4.4 Update onto my Wifi Nexus 7 (2012) I'm unable to connect to my Computer in MTP Mode & can only connect in PTP Mode which is far more limited than MTP Mode. I did a Factory Reset & updated to 4.4 OTA, but I'm now still unable to connect in MTP Mode, when I use MTP Mode I get a Google Nexus 7 ADB Interface in Device Manager with Manufacturer ID of ClockworkMod has anyone got any clues how to get MTP Mode working?
P.S. I'm unrooted and have no idea how the ClockworkMod ADB Driver got installed and haven't got a clue how to permanently remove it.

Look in your PC's Control Panel - do you see Portable Devices (it's most likely missing or not showing up)
Folks over at Nexus 5 (I owned both devices) are running into similar problems - long story short, it's corrupted and/or missing usb devices drivers. Simplistic solution, use the computer (assuming you are running Windows 7 or Vista and not Linux) SYSTEM RESTORE feature & roll back to last few days, it should be a successful effort & then reboot. Reconnect your device, let it sit & recognize the device, install drivers, etc. - do this with USB debugging OFF first, and when it is done - enable USB debugging, let it finish.
Now, reboot PC again to be sure, and connect. usb cable again - give it 3 to 5 seconds, your Auto Play should be popping up with prompt to open folders/files, etc.
Check your CP again, you should now see Portable Devices part of the hardware, and Google Nexus 4 (yes, that's what is on mine)
Let me know if this solution works for you - the alternative is to uninstall all usb drivers, reboot, install, etc. etc. Please post your results if you choose to follow this dummy's approach, thanks.
Hey all,
I have tried to google and figure this out but my phone doesn't show up in device manager in windows or in android file transfer on mac EXCEPT when in download mode or when the phone is off/charging via my computers USB port.
So when in download mode, the phone shows up in device manager....
When my device is off and charging via USB port, it shows up in device manager...
I have tried USB debugging mode no change...
Charges just fine. No usb port issues because it connects during download mode etc...
During these times, i obviously can't access the SDcard.... but as soon as the device boots, it disconnects and disappears from device manager even though its still charging etc...
This only happened after the last OTA update.
I assume i will have to restore to defaults as its probably an issue with the kernel and usb protocol but I dont have the phone rooted and i don't want to root it at this time... I am hoping there might be a quick fix and/or setting i am missing.
Thanks!

You do have to have USB debugging mode checked. If you don't have the developer option enabled in settings, go to about phone, find your build number and tap on it rapidly until it says your developer option is enabled. Back out and you should see a developer tab. Click it and make sure USB debugging is checked. If that doesn't work you might reinstall the latest USB drivers.
i did both of those. the odd part is when in download mode windows chimes that my device it attached.. no problems right? but anytime the android OS is running no chimes at all no recognition at all on any computer... its almost like back in my linux days when the kernal had a usb module failed to load... i swear its as if the kernal turned off usb data communication... power is fine... just wont communicate unless in download mode or in a power off state.... totally weird...
When you plug it into the computer, pull down your notification drawer, make sure USB setting is set to MTP. It usually is set to installer, or charge only by default.
Also I'd say completely wipe out your phone drivers on the computer, and reinstall all new ones.
Possibly reinstall ADB as well.

i'm pulling my hair out right now, i have the samsung drivers installed, usb debugging enabled in developer mode, when i launch odin, the ID:COM section is blue at first when my phone is in standby but when i shut the phone down and put it into download mode the ID:COM turns blank, no blue, yellow green nothing and i can't flash anything to my device, what the hell is going on? been searching for hours to find solutions but nothing so far, getting frustrated, pls help.
using odin 3.07
found a solution, it was the drivers, when it went into download mode for some reason it was disabling it, i had to pull the usb plug out and reconnect again for odin to see the phone, annoying but at least it works now.

Connect USB only after getting into Download Mode. That's how it works..
Somedays ago, i rooted my samsung galaxy s6 edge plus (sm-g928f). I was checking the settings and by mistake i have turned off the developer mode in settings and when i restarted mobile it is showing frp lock neither i can turn on mobile nor i can go to recovery... There is only one option for flashing firmware through download mode from odin but my mobile doesn't connects to any pc and laptop, I have checked with diffrent cables in different computers with all samsung drivers installed.
so, please tell me the solution. I can only charge the mobile now. I cant turn on mobile and recovery because of frp lock and neither connect through download mode as usb not detecting at all..
so, now:
*i cant switch on my phone
*cant go to recovery mode
*cant connect by usb cable
Please Develeopers and experts please give me the solution for this problem.

As I already mentioned,I cannot connect mobile to PC through usb,it's download mode is not detecting in any PC in odin even all samsung drivers installed.
What USB drivers did you install?
Try removing the ones you have installed and then booting into download mode and letting windows get them automatically. I haven't installed any drivers for my phone, I plug in the USB and Windows detects and downloads them.... I'm on windows 10.
Hey guys, when I get into the download mode and start odin, my phone doesn't show there. I did install samsung usb drivers. It only shows COM when the phone is on, not in the download mode.
Any ideas what might be the reason for this? Thanks a lot.
