If you flashed a different firmware on your stock firmware. I think it should be causing you to have Custom Binary Counter . Just guessing here but have you tried system update what does it say ? SYSTEM modified or anything ?

1. Use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app to check for your current Active CSC?
2. Open the menu, select 'Firmware Browser...' and download the latest firmware for your device. Atm the latest firmware for XSP is N9005XXUEND3
Did you do a full factory reset after the flash? If no, your CSC remains the old one, thus making it impossible for you to receive updates automatically. You will need to do a factory reset, or manually update using ODIN.
I think a factory reset doesn't help, because a factory reset only wipe user-data partition, while the CSC is stored in the system partition. Isn't it?

For some reason it works. Not entirely sure why. But I've only every made people do it through Recovery, not the settings menu.

Actually the CSC are stored in the System partition and the EFS partition, that should not be affected by a factory reset.
Anyway OP please give it a try and feedback.

I know. That's why I said I'm not sure why it works. Perhaps the first-launch process re-writes the CSC to match the firmware? It's an advice I came across quite often when I was researching this about a year ago for someone else. Often enough right here on XDA.

HI all and happy new year to everybody. I've an I9000 and for a problem with market that doens work anymore , I did a factory reset but without a solution, so at the end, I've flashed a FW form my Italian brand TRE as 2.3.3 .
The strange is that , is after the flash, I've again my apps installed (but not working of course), when I'm supposing to have a cleaned installation. My question is : is there any way to reinstall a FW via ODIN, having a clwan install as factory default without my old apps and so on ?
Thx a lot for your help.

Guys I need your help. I've formatted the internal SD too with internal manu, and reinstall from recovery at factory default, but I've always back the apps (not working of course), and also , the forlders into the internal SD are always there, as the formatting process , was not done.
What it could be ? and also , how can I've a really clean install ? thx a lot.
Maybe you have the same problem as I had. I had "broken" internal SD card, I mean nothing could be save permanently. I had to replace mainboard in Samsung service...

strange that after doing a factory reset you are not getting a clean install..
anyways, you can download the stock firmware from sammobile.com .. be sure to download all the 4 files, i.e. pda, csc, phone and .pit file.. and using odin flash... this is sure to give you a clean install...

Thanks but I did It , and this where I'm now. I was 2.3.5 , that with ODIN I was back as 2.3.3 gingerbred with my brand fw of Italy TRE, and this is what I've now. An unstable phone , with no apps working , no chances to delete them and reinstall, and even formatting the internal sd, I've back again the same folders. It seems that there is one place, where the phne can take and push back the same installations as it was before, and I never have a really clean install (that form me it should be the fw and that all).
I don't know how it could be.

Hi! i recently updated my Note 3 SM-N9005 to KITKAT. with kies. and now all my files on the sd card is gone.. i did a factory reset but i didnt think that could delete them.. i only use internal sd.. could that be the problem?.. i need them.. so any solution or gone forever?
Anyone?
You have lost all your files, simple as that. Sorry to say but always backup your stuff before doing something like this.
Probably the firmware you installed also had an other csc. This almost always wipes your system to a new phone.

Factory reset will delete all internal memory. Factory reset will delete everything, not external SD.

first thing I would say is, do odin to your new firmware, and the out the system, without installing or restore apps, and app data, see if everything is working fine, sometimes by restoring older app data you might run into some problems..

What do you mean with "do odin and the out of the system"?
Use ODIN.. what I mean to say is do the full firmware via ODIN,
And use it like that, a fresh install, see if everything is working well, you should have no problems.
Then see when the lag starts if you are restoring your apps with data.

you didn't answer to my question earlier. Did you do a full wipe ?
by default, any flashing of firmware won't wipe your device. It has been suggested by most ppl here, and other forums website, that if you face any trouble with the new firmware, always do a full wipe. It helps most of the time with most of the funny funny issue.
no i didnt do a wipe as i got it OTA not through odin
can you tell me how to do it

are the 2 of you the same person ? LOL
@drashrafsabry : very simple, if you done the OTA already, now try to do full wipe (I assume you are not rooted)
1st of all, you will need to backup your contact (if you keep on your device), you can do by exporting it to sd card, or merge with google/samsung account.
2nd thing you need to backup your sms (if you still need to keep it).
3rd and most important : full wipe from stock recovery, it will delete the entire internal storage. So, if you have any data (photo, movie, songs, etc) which you keep it inside internal storage, you must copy first to your sd card / or your PC / laptop (somewhere else other than internal storage.
Once you finish with all that backup, you may shutdown your device (wait until vibrate to make sure it shutdown completely).
Once it is shutdown, press the 3 combos (vol up + home + power) to go into recovery.
Once inside recovery, choose wipe data, and after finish choose wipe cache.
when it is finish, reboot.
PS : you will need to re setup your initial setup after that.
Good luck.

Download the Odin file here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Flash it under AP.

The Sammobile link, type in your firmware N9005XXUEND5 into the Firmware box, then it will search it for you. You also could just type N9005 and choose the latest based on your region.
No it will not void your warranty.

That's very weird.
Flashing stock should essentially fix the system files that are broken.
You could try root it, wiping all partitions, then reinstalling a ROM.

Yesterday I try to update my SM-G900F. Then update process failed. After that I can't update the phone. It shows your phone system modified and can't update via OTA. Use Kies and update via PC.
Also system status shows custom.
How do I fix this issue?
If I use Odin, it will also cause system as modied or it will trigger KNOX flash counter?

The custom message just reflects a non-standard kernel, recovery or root. Or some missing, corrupt or non-standard system files. If it isn't cler what needs to be reverted, just use the Odin 3.09 software to flash a full, stock ROM to your phone. This will remove all possible causes of the custom message.
Flashing a 100% stock firmware will not increment the Knox flag.
If the problem persists, wipe the system cache from recovery mode.
And if necessary, a factory data reset from the settings menu
These steps won't affect Knox either, although the last step would clear user settings and files.
In the unlikely event that the message appears to be due to an update bug, you could revert to an earlier firmware version to vanquish the message (until the update is fixed).
