Yesterday I try to update my SM-G900F. Then update process failed. After that I can't update the phone. It shows your phone system modified and can't update via OTA. Use Kies and update via PC.
Also system status shows custom.
How do I fix this issue?
If I use Odin, it will also cause system as modied or it will trigger KNOX flash counter?

After the reset, system status back to the normal. But unfortunatly, it again failed to update. Now I'm going to use Kies.

Or just flash the whole updated rom with Odin 3.09 in downloadmode, followed by a data factory reset for the best result. Stock roms are available on Sammobile.com/firmwares.

The custom message just reflects a non-standard kernel, recovery or root. Or some missing, corrupt or non-standard system files. If it isn't cler what needs to be reverted, just use the Odin 3.09 software to flash a full, stock ROM to your phone. This will remove all possible causes of the custom message.
Flashing a 100% stock firmware will not increment the Knox flag.
If the problem persists, wipe the system cache from recovery mode.
And if necessary, a factory data reset from the settings menu
These steps won't affect Knox either, although the last step would clear user settings and files.
In the unlikely event that the message appears to be due to an update bug, you could revert to an earlier firmware version to vanquish the message (until the update is fixed).

So first off im gonna start off and say that I dont really care about being rooted in the first place. I thought id be flashing a lot more stuff but It turns out that I never flashed anything. So on my phone as of now I just have root and I have twrp installed onto it. I did that process to take off the custom recovery status from using motochopper as well. Now my problem is that every time i try to take the ota I get booted right into twrp and then i am unable to take the update. I even downloaded the zip file and tried flashing it and I just get a failed message. Can anyone tell me whats going on? Or point me into the right direction so i can uninstall twrp so I can take the update?
Odin back to stock, then do a factory reset in settings.

Well actually I have one more question. Arent I already stock? I havent even flashed another rom. I literally just got root status and put twrp recovery on it. Do I still need to use odin?

You say you are rooted, then do a factory reset, and un-root, then you will be able to get the update.

Like axman said, flashing with Odin to stock nothing gets deleted. If you do a factory wipe, everything gets deleted.
You could also try to update with kies instead of ota. Maybe that will work.
The problem is not that you removed root you still are using a custom recovery you need to get back to full stock use odin to get the phone back to full stockso you'll have a stock recovery

Hi,
I rooted my phone 2 days ago and installed custom ROM everything went well, except for today my phone start to lag too much, so I decided to flash back the stock ROM that I have downloaded from Sam-mobile using Odin 3.08, but now my device not responding to anything and even I get "Process system isn't responding" in Samsung wizard installation also the sound disappeared and when try lunch any app like camera I get message "camera failed" and keep getting "Process system isn't responding".
[[The Solution]] for Process system isn't responding follow the steps: ((ONLY SM-N9005))
1-Unroot your phone if you are rooted.
2-Factory rest your phone and clear cache. .
3-Flash the Stock rom for your device.(if this fixed the the problem stop here if not continue to step 4)
4-Download this ROM and flash it by Odin 3.04.(this rom somehow managed to restore my EFS files and fixed the problem)
and that's it.

Oh man, I though I was the only one having this problem. I really don't now how to fix it at all, I've tried flashing stock ROM and I still get the same problem. If anyone can help, I'd be so grateful.
This sounds a lot like the issue I've been having (see details in the thread I posted here).
Any insight would be very welcome.
Yup bad root (it can and does happen the odd time!), clear cache etc in download mode, then reflash the new Stock ROM, then wipe cache etc again in download mode. See if that helps.
Similar issue I had previously after I originally rooted was apps kept closing and saying stopped working. When I wiped the ROM and updated via KIES to MJ7 with wiping cache etc, it seems to have done the trick.
EDIT: Also try ODIN 3.07 rather than 3.08

Maybe just return it, play stupid with the phone shop staff, probably won't notice the flashing anyway.

Unfortunately I've tried all of this too (except using Kies, it won't recognise my phone though I'd never tried it before now) to no avail.
I might try a warranty swap, but I'm concerned because the system status shows custom and I'm unsure there's any way to reset it. I suppose my only chance is to try for an on-the-spot swap for a new phone, because if it gets sent back to Samsung I expect they'd reject it due to the system status.
Still can't understand why the issue persists beyond reflashing the stock rom...

I don't understand why the issue persists after flashing stock either but I doubt it is hardware fault. I hope someone knows how to fix this

Just wanted to confirm a few things, as I've been out of the loop a bit with Samsung updates, and I haven't flashed one since Xposed was released.
If I want to dirty flash MK1 (latest for my region) over MJ7, do I have to disable/remove Xposed Framework first?

Really? I recall updating previous ROMS on other Samsung devices (S3, S4, etc.) without Odin performing a factory reset. The data stayed unless I wiped it, unless I am just recalling incorrectly.

Sadly, Mobile Odin doesn't support the N900, does it? I have the Exynos version, not the Qualcomm.
I ended up doing a factory reset anyway. I had a google.process.locationservices has stopped error on reboot every time.
I don't mind. Starting clean, but it's a PITA to reconfigure everything. Is there any way to backup and restore Touchwiz settings?

I'm about to send my phone off to Samsung to get something fixed and I was wondering how I can make sure that I still have my warranty on my rooted phone. I'm running the stock ROM ROOTED on my Canadian n900w8 with my Knox at 0x0 but my status at CUSTOM. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you reflash the stock rom with Odin and data factory reset after that the status should say official or try the factory reset first (may work or else reflash stock). Good luck

Could I just delete all my apps that need root, do a triangle away to change my status to official and remove root with SuperSU? Would that be the same thing ? I didn't flash any Roms before. Thanks a lot for the help!

Then do the triangle away and after that do a data factory reset in settings/backup and restore/data reset (backup files first).
I don't think the factory reset will help.
You can try the "Fake system status' in the Wanam Xposed.
If that doesn't help you should flash the stock firmware via Odin.
Im on a non rooted note 3. 2 months ago I installed the Singapore N9005XXUENB4 XSP and theres been 2 updates since then but I didnt receive any of them.

If you flashed a different firmware on your stock firmware. I think it should be causing you to have Custom Binary Counter . Just guessing here but have you tried system update what does it say ? SYSTEM modified or anything ?

1. Use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app to check for your current Active CSC?
2. Open the menu, select 'Firmware Browser...' and download the latest firmware for your device. Atm the latest firmware for XSP is N9005XXUEND3
Did you do a full factory reset after the flash? If no, your CSC remains the old one, thus making it impossible for you to receive updates automatically. You will need to do a factory reset, or manually update using ODIN.
I think a factory reset doesn't help, because a factory reset only wipe user-data partition, while the CSC is stored in the system partition. Isn't it?

Actually the CSC are stored in the System partition and the EFS partition, that should not be affected by a factory reset.
Anyway OP please give it a try and feedback.

I know. That's why I said I'm not sure why it works. Perhaps the first-launch process re-writes the CSC to match the firmware? It's an advice I came across quite often when I was researching this about a year ago for someone else. Often enough right here on XDA.
