[Q] Took OTA by accident, can't get out of TWRP. - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Thanks in advance for any help. I was half awake this morning and accidentally took OTA even though I'm rooted, yes stupid move. Now I can't get out of TWRP no matter what. Tried recovering to an older backup, tried reflashing an older rooted stock I had, absolutely no luck, phone just boots into TWRP.
Please advise.

I took the update while being rooted. If you dont save your root, it will remove your root unless you back it up.

This is being discussed in the various update threads. Some swear they were able to update while rooted. However, most note that they lost root after the update. Others, like myself, who have modified ANYTHING after rooting are unable to get the update to run without flashing back to stock.

If I changed build prop can I just change it back and install update. Or do I still have to unroot. Thanks in advance.

Mine failed at 30%.
Turns out I used the mods for tethering. Renaming files allowed it to update.
This is why you NEVER delete those files in the system directory.

No, but updating will remove root access. Just use the same method you used to root in the first place and all will be normal

Looks like I should unpatch my Email apk and try the update again before rooting my phone again.

Not sure about deleting them. I froze a ton of apps in TB, really treading with caution here as without CWM it's going to be PITA to get it going again! This is my work phone and even though I have plenty of other phones that take micro sims I have a lot of special apps I need so doing it (at least during the week LOL) would be a major impediment to me.
If you nix APKs the updater can't find them and aborts. That is what I have read anyway and renaming the original and odex file back worked.
Of course I had to re-root but that was no problem.
I may be stuck with this ROM in the meantime but I positively cannot work without a rooted phone. It would be like riding a motorcycle with square wheels. Ok that may be exaggerating a bit, but you get the idea.

I am unable to run the update as well. I have used ODIN to restore to factory but the update still failed after 30%. I even performed a master reset and wiped all data from the phone. After the reset I ran update and it again failed at 30%. Was hoping someone more senior on the forums would know what the issue may be? I an new to Android, being an iPhone user since the beginning, and cannot figure out why the update is not applying.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Worked pretty well. I ended up having to install the System and root individually because it kept hanging. But in the end it all worked out and I'm all updated and no booting into recovery.
THANKS!!!!

[FIXED] Soft-bricked Note 3 LTE (SM-N9005)

When I turn my phone on it goes into boot loop. I tried accessing TWRP but it's not good either, it would just show the startup screen and nothing will happen. I don't know how this happened because my phone was working perfectly last night before I slept. I didn't charge my phone so when I woke up the battery was drained. So I plugged in my charger and turn it on, it'll just go into boot loop just like what I said earlier. Please help. I have read that I should flash stock through Odin, but where can I find it? Please help. Thanks!

Thanks, I actually know that I have to go to that site to download the firmware, I just needed some confirmation haha! But this here is my real (stupid-ish) question, is it possible to recover/access my data? Will it be lost after flashing?
When my device was bricked a bit times... I flashed the firmware and all my data wasn't lost it just changed the system and did not delete any data... But make sure u only flash the firmware version that was present before u bricked your device....
MOST of the times it doesn't delete any data☺

Okay, thanks! Well, I have a custom ROM before and it's version is 6 the stock firmware available is 5. What will happen then?
@leosrw It works now but unfortunately I lost my data it asks for a factory reset so yeah they're all gone. Well, no worries, they're not that important anyway. Thanks for your help!

Stuck on TWRP after factory reset. Pls help

Hello my fellow v20 users. I'm in dire need of you wisdom and guidance. Today I was getting ready to hand my phone to my brother so I did a factory reset. My phone is a Sprint V20 rooted and bootloader unlocked with the dirty Santa method and I had installed the us996 deoxed ROM on it.
Everything was working perfectly and I enjoyed the phone very much. However after I did the factory reset in TWRP (I did the plain swipe to clear reset) the phone just rebooted into TWRP again and again and no matter what I do. I already have tried reinstalling the same us996 deoxed ROM I was using to no avail, I have tried another ROM and the same result.
I tried following some advice which I found on the forum that said to wipe the phone in a certain order and then install the ROM and then pull the battery and the same result it boots into TWRP. At one point I even tried flashing a different TWRP and I lost the ability to boot into recovery wahtsoever! However flashing the TWRP I was using before that granted the ability to get back into the recovery but now I'm back at square one. No matter what I do the phone always boots into TWRP. I really am at a loss here and don't know what else to try or do. If someone could please help me I would really appreciate it. I can also let someone remote connections to my PC if that would help. Any help would be really appreciated.
Edit (SOLVED!) Many many thanks to user Jinkerz9430 for all his help and the solution to my problem. He will post the solution for other people to use.

But there are several threads that have been created for the exact same situation. And some of them have the answer you are looking for. One of them is the method i have used every time to get out of the loop (which rarely happens to me). Have you looked inside those threads? They are inside the Q&A section or the discussion section.
