i don't know why but drivers for windows 7 doesn't work well with my milestone 2
if i try to connect my phone "as a memory", like a flash usb drive, windows try to install driver from windows update but fail and i can't copy files from/to my phone, like it's not connected
if i use "windows mode" (didn't remember the correct name ) it work but it is so slow to do everything
now i have cyanogenmod from endless7, perfect mod but without this "windows mode" so i can't connect my phone with my pc with windows, it's strange because RSD lite recognize my phone, so i don't know if the driver work or not
someone know the solution?
plug in your mobile, then right click on my computer > manage > device manager, there should be an MTP service that's got a yellow question mark. Right click on it, press driver update > search my computer for the driver, click on "let me choose from driver list" and there should be something like usb mass storage, click on it and click next. Can't describe it as it should be because I already did it a while ago Hope it helps, worked for me!
i love you, it work thanks
Same problem when connecting like Portal & Tools. Tip doesn't work (no usb mass storage driver). Using CyanogenMod 7.
Any suggestions?
I modified the USB ADB & MTP drivers for Aurora ICS in order to work in U8800.
Hi Suite and MyPhoneExplorer functioning as usual.
Huawei U8800 ICS ADB Driver.zip (Tested on Win32 with the adb interface. Older.)
Huawei U8800 ICS ADB & MTP Drivers.zip (Tested on Win32 with the adb interface & mtp mode. Newer.)
Update 14Aug2012.
ICS brought two new tranfer modes to Android, MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) and PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol)
that are really cool, because there should be no risk of data corruption.
For the moment it seems that PTP is broken in Aurora and it's replaced by the old Mass Storage mode,
along with the probability of data corruption [Aurora 3.0_beta2_update2 changelog].
But MTP really works and it's the recommended option. The phone is presented as a
Portable Device in My Computer with full access to internal memory (HWUserData) and SD Card.
You can switch between MTP and Mass Storage
from Settings -> Storage -> Menu -> USB Computer Connection
(In languages except English Mass Storage is the PTP option).
Finally I have listed all the different interfaces that U8800 with Aurora ICS 4.1 presents in different situations,
in case it's useful to someone.
Code:
-USB Debugging OFF-
MTP - Automatic Installation (USB\VID_12D1&PID_F003)
PTP - Mass Storage (USBSTOR\DiskLinux___File-CD_Gadget__0000)
-USB Debugging ON-
MTP
MTP Driver from Huawei (USB\VID_12D1&PID_9039&MI_00)
ADB Interface (USB\VID_12D1&PID_9039&MI_01)
PTP
Mass Storage (USBSTOR\DiskLinux___File-CD_Gadget__0000)
ADB Interface (USB\VID_12D1&PID_903D&MI_01)
-Recovery-
CdRom (USBSTOR\CdRom________Android_Adapter_0100) (Not valid Filesystem)
2x Mass Storage (USBSTOR\Disk________Android_Adapter_0100) (Can mount SDCard in one of them)
ADB Interface (USB\VID_12D1&PID_1038&MI_01)
-Bootloader Pink Screen-
Huawei eMMC Storage USB Device (USBSTOR\DiskHuawei__eMMC_Storage____2.6_)
Android Adapter Modem (USB\VID_12D1&PID_1035&MI_00)
DBAdapter Reserved Interface (COM Port) (USB\VID_12D1&PID_1035&MI_04)
-Bootloader from Shutdown Menu-
Android Sooner (Fastboot) Single ADB Interface (USB\VID_18D1&PID_D00D) (Huawei Logo)

I didn't flash 2.09. I tried 2.02, 2.04 and now I am at 2.11a and it works fine. There was no changes at all. Maybe there is something with your pc/phone/suite.

They should be compatible with W7. But I only have winxp 32bit, I don't need anything fancier .

Well, in my opinion and after some unfortunate things that happened to my SD card some time ago with the original froyo, I NEVER mount the sd as an external drive. There is always a chance of corruption and I mean with correct handling (safe removal).
I just use this great free suite called MyPhoneExplorer (w w w.fjsoft.at/en/). It functions with every android and you can copy your files safely.
You had probably already corrupted your memory if you have disconnections. Try to backup your files on your hard disk then use the SD Formatter (w w w.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/) to format your sd card and copy it's contents back.
Bye.
new hardware wizard solved my installing problem and i can even use reverse tethering now! thanks a lot!

In my case it works (w7 x64)!
Doesn't work here on W7 32bits, with aurora 3.1, MTP and debugging on.
Device Manager shows one "Other devices > Android" but when I point it to the drivers folder it returns message:
Windows was unable to install your Android
Windows could not find driver software for your device.
If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software.

Hello,
Just an average XDA noob speaking here. Reason i'm creating this topic is because I'm having problems getting the ADB composite drivers right. Previously I've rooted a HTC Hero without any problems, but with my Huawei U8800 Ideos X5 I just can't fix it, I searched in all corners of the Internet. Below are my specs.
- Android 2.3.5
- Unbranded
I've also tried to root with SuperOneClick and by replacing the boot.img, but I can't get it to work because of the drivers.
When I get to recover mode (the pink/purple screen) it isn't showing me the IMAGE folder on my computer. Also tried to install new drivers for the ADB composite by using the H:/Mobile Partner disk on my phone but that isn't helping either. It says their isn't any new hardware found in the folder, but as you can see on the image, there are still exclamation marks. I Also uninstalled the drivers a few times and tried to re-install them but that isn't working neither. Firstly my phone was recognized as an Other device > Ethernet Controller in the device manager screen. But that was possible to solve by browsing to the H:\MobilePartner\Drivers folder.
By the way, when in recovery mode plugged in the computer, it shows me two drivers called "HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES". I can't seem to find a good driver for those, they also show the !-mark.
Any help will be appreciated! :good:

What's the best way to do that? Just delete them from the device manager screen and letting them re-install automaticly by the phone? Or just download drivers from the internet and install it manually?

if u r doing manual driver installation, then its best to disallow auto-installation by windows..
delete all instances from device manager, or u may use an application called "USBDeview" to remove the usb drivers.. and i think this second way is probably doing it more cleanly..

Thanks man, gonna try that tomorrow after school.
Will keep you updated.
Sorry for the late update, forgot about the topic... I threw away all the drivers, got the pinkpurple screen and connected to my pc. It's now missing this drivers when connected, Windows can't install them itself. Check the printscreen below.

Ok ty, I started over, deleted all the drivers and let Windows install the drivers themself. Still not working. I find it very strange why Android Composite ADB Interface pops up 4 times in the device manager... As you can see, he installed one by himself >> https://(w)(w)w.dropbox.com/s/lttgky3qozhraf9/kak4.png
I'll try your method.
Windows cant find a driver for the phone, how do you use this on Windows?
You can install the drivers as part of the Android SDK, or you could search this forum for drivers, or you could goto the Development section and download mskip's Galaxy Nexus 4 Toolkit and install the drivers from there.

installed the drivers and Windows sees it as an Android ADB device but it doesnt mount anything. How do I transfer files over USB?
I extracted the drivers from the Android SDK and posted it up. Check my sig for the link.
tried those too and its still not mounting anything
Windows 7 detected my phone without any drivers installed and I was able to mount the internal storage. The only thing the sdk drivers allow for are adb and fastboot interfacing, so they shouldn't be needed if all you are trying to do is mount the device.
try different usb port my pc did that at first.
I'm not sure why, but it worked for me on windows 7 and automatically updated the drivers. The weird thing is that adb recognizes the nexus 4 as a Samsung phone

Same issue here until I switched to the cable that came with the phone and it worked. Maybe just a fluke, not sure.

Sorry, misread your post. Try restarting, try a different USB port, try a different cable. Also, make sure MTP mode is enabled on your phone (Settings > Storage > Menu > then check Media Device).

Have you found a solution yet? To transfer files from my PC to the phone, I have to make sure debugging is turned off and connect with MTP mode. But if I want to use ADB, I need to turn debugging on which loses the PC's ability to see the phone at all unless I connect in PTP mode. All a bit weird but at least it works. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers?
Phone mounts fine on 2 different computers, its something with my computer.
Its not the USB cable, tried different ports, I tried USB debugging on and off, camera mode and MTP. Device manager sees it as a Nexus 4 but says the drivers didnt install.
So my next question is why isnt Windows installing the drivers properly?
i have got two nexus 4
and with one of them i am not able to connect it to my main computer (with a second computer it works).
With the other nexus 4 i have no problems on any computer...
os is alway win 7.
just linking and sharing a similar thread [Q]Computer won't recognize phone? which covers same/similar issue and resolution.
when i connect my mobile to pc it is not detected but mobile is charging. i have tried different ports and cable but result is same.

-Connect your phone to computer
-open device manager
-search portable device and under your phone
-open it, and go to the driver flag
-update driver
-brows my computer for driver software
-let me pick from a list of device drives on my computer
-show compatible hardware mark off
-chose the (Standard MTP Device) from left and MTP Device from right.
-Next, and win' tell maybe it will not good for this device. Chose yes, and violá!
If you can not see Portable devices and you get Unknown devices, yust do the same above with that.
If you installed early another MTP driver, reboot your comp, and when you connect the phone, you have to uninstall those driver and tryy above again. I think it will work for you too
same problem. works only cdrom mode. after all reflash with wipe data works for me.
