Aurora ICS ADB & MTP drivers - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I modified the USB ADB & MTP drivers for Aurora ICS in order to work in U8800.
Hi Suite and MyPhoneExplorer functioning as usual.
Huawei U8800 ICS ADB Driver.zip (Tested on Win32 with the adb interface. Older.)
Huawei U8800 ICS ADB & MTP Drivers.zip (Tested on Win32 with the adb interface & mtp mode. Newer.)
Update 14Aug2012.
ICS brought two new tranfer modes to Android, MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) and PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol)
that are really cool, because there should be no risk of data corruption.
For the moment it seems that PTP is broken in Aurora and it's replaced by the old Mass Storage mode,
along with the probability of data corruption [Aurora 3.0_beta2_update2 changelog].
But MTP really works and it's the recommended option. The phone is presented as a
Portable Device in My Computer with full access to internal memory (HWUserData) and SD Card.
You can switch between MTP and Mass Storage
from Settings -> Storage -> Menu -> USB Computer Connection
(In languages except English Mass Storage is the PTP option).
Finally I have listed all the different interfaces that U8800 with Aurora ICS 4.1 presents in different situations,
in case it's useful to someone.
Code:
-USB Debugging OFF-
MTP - Automatic Installation (USB\VID_12D1&PID_F003)
PTP - Mass Storage (USBSTOR\DiskLinux___File-CD_Gadget__0000)
-USB Debugging ON-
MTP
MTP Driver from Huawei (USB\VID_12D1&PID_9039&MI_00)
ADB Interface (USB\VID_12D1&PID_9039&MI_01)
PTP
Mass Storage (USBSTOR\DiskLinux___File-CD_Gadget__0000)
ADB Interface (USB\VID_12D1&PID_903D&MI_01)
-Recovery-
CdRom (USBSTOR\CdRom________Android_Adapter_0100) (Not valid Filesystem)
2x Mass Storage (USBSTOR\Disk________Android_Adapter_0100) (Can mount SDCard in one of them)
ADB Interface (USB\VID_12D1&PID_1038&MI_01)
-Bootloader Pink Screen-
Huawei eMMC Storage USB Device (USBSTOR\DiskHuawei__eMMC_Storage____2.6_)
Android Adapter Modem (USB\VID_12D1&PID_1035&MI_00)
DBAdapter Reserved Interface (COM Port) (USB\VID_12D1&PID_1035&MI_04)
-Bootloader from Shutdown Menu-
Android Sooner (Fastboot) Single ADB Interface (USB\VID_18D1&PID_D00D) (Huawei Logo)

I didn't flash 2.09. I tried 2.02, 2.04 and now I am at 2.11a and it works fine. There was no changes at all. Maybe there is something with your pc/phone/suite.

Well, in my opinion and after some unfortunate things that happened to my SD card some time ago with the original froyo, I NEVER mount the sd as an external drive. There is always a chance of corruption and I mean with correct handling (safe removal).
I just use this great free suite called MyPhoneExplorer (w w w.fjsoft.at/en/). It functions with every android and you can copy your files safely.
You had probably already corrupted your memory if you have disconnections. Try to backup your files on your hard disk then use the SD Formatter (w w w.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/) to format your sd card and copy it's contents back.
Bye.

new hardware wizard solved my installing problem and i can even use reverse tethering now! thanks a lot!

In my case it works (w7 x64)!

Doesn't work here on W7 32bits, with aurora 3.1, MTP and debugging on.
Device Manager shows one "Other devices > Android" but when I point it to the drivers folder it returns message:
Windows was unable to install your Android
Windows could not find driver software for your device.
If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software.

USB Debugging Driver not installing

Is anyone else having issues with the tmob vibrant usb debugging driver from the android SDK? They won't install because windows is saying they have no info concerning my hardware. Thanks in advance for any help.
Here is a link to the 64-bit drivers which worked for me:
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x64.shtml
And here is a link to the 32-bit drivers, although I have not tested them:
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x86.shtml
i can confirm that the 32 bit drivers are working...
Installed the 64 bit drivers on w7 ultimate. Still cant get to either of the phones storage.

Coming from a G1 (haven't received my Vibrant yet) there will be a notification to mount the SD Card so you can use them on your PC (when you connect the USB cable) and you wont need any drivers for it (acts like a flash drive to the PC). Is this not the case for the Vibrant?
The Debugging drivers should have nothing to do with the SD Storage on the phone and mounting it up to the computer.

I've run the 64-bit drivers at home and they worked famously.
Would it be possible for someone to post the 32-bit ones in a zip format somewhere? We block exe's here at work, and I'm getting 'The content is not supported on this phone.' when trying to download from the links above on my Vibrant...
The stock usb_drivers from the SDK just don't want to work for debug mode on it...blarg.
Thanks...

I'm having the same issue with the 32-bit ones. The .exe installs fine, but after plugging in my phone, I get that error. Clicking on the balloon shows an 'Unknown Device'. Double-clicking on 'Unknown Device' then clicking on 'Driver' then 'Driver Details' gives this: No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device
EDIT: Nvm. Bad USB port. Had a few of them stop working a few months back. Guess I forgot. Up and running now!
Spot on! 32-bit is working fine for me. Appreciate it.
cant get droidexplorer to work any ideas?
works on windows 7 ultimate x64
thanks

Windows 7 doesn't recognize Ideos

Hi.
I'm a happy new owner of a X5.
My only (up until now) problem is that I can't seem to sort how to install the proper drivers so that my netbook with Windows 7 32 bits, recognizes the Ideos as a Android handset.
It sees it as a CD unit!!!
I've tried to solve this with a driver that is foundable on the ideos itself and as it was stated on a older thread...but it doesn't work!
What can I do?
Are you trying to access the sdcard? In that case have you enabled mass storage mode on your phone?
Sent from my Ideos X5 using XDA App
Thats exact. That CD Drive had software (drivers) on it that you should use to install the drivers for windows 7 to recognize it.
As far as I remember, turn on USB debugging, then it will detect new hardware.. on the dialog select BROWSE FOR FILES (or something like that) and browse to the CD drive that is linked to the IDEOS... then press next, it will say installing drivers..
Then it should be fine.
No...as I stated before...i've tried to install the drivers that come in that mountable drive inside the X5. But Windows 7 says that those drivers can't be installed!!!
Don't know what to do!!!
I have exactly the same problem with Windows 7 64 bit. I wanted to root my phone but Device Manager recognized only the mass storage drives so I wasn't able to install the adb drivers. I ended up rooting U8800 with Vista which perfectly recognized the phone.

Yes. It wasn't recognized in two different Windows 7 computers but with same settings on Huawei it was properly recognized in Vista.
You could try to install the software that can be found on Huawei's website.
Unfortunately I can't post any links, so I will describe how to get there.
-On Huawei's website, hover your mouse over 'support' in the upper menu bar, then click 'Downloads'.
-In the middle, the 'Manuals' tab is selected, click 'Software'.
-Now look for 'HUAWEI Android Phones USB Driver', probably listed at top.
After installing it, my phone got recognized in Win 7's device list.
Unfortunately I can't approach the SD cards, but that might be a different problem. (I am able to see 2 extra removable storage devices in explorer, but can't open them. A clue anyone?)

When you say that it's not connecting, could you specify in which mode? E.g. USB Flasher in MAGLDR, USB Mass Storage in Android, USB Mass Storage in MAGLDR, bootloader etc.
it will not connect when im at my home screen. i have turned off usb debugging on the phone. im not sure wat mode its in when im just at the home screen sorry.
thanks josh
extract it in your dektop.
Connect your Android-powered device to your computer's USB port.
Right-click on Computer from your desktop or Windows Explorer, and select Manage.
Select Devices in the left pane.
Locate and expand Other device in the right pane.
Right-click the device name (such as HTC HD2) and select Update Driver Software. This will launch the Hardware Update Wizard.
Select Browse my computer for driver software and click Next.
Click Browse and locate the USB driver folder. (Google USB Driver, we have already extracted it )
Click Next to install the driver.

Well still check if it connects in USB Flasher mode in MAGLDR. If it does, then you should be all set to flash a newer version of Android. Just follow this guide. Before doing so, download the ROM directly on to your phone's SD from the browser and move the ROM to the root of the SD card. Also make sure to make a full backup of your ROM in CWM and of your data in Titanium Backup. On the guide you should probably skip the step which involves partitioning the SD card with an SD-EXT as this will delete the contents of your SD card.

...What? This makes no sense.
I also have this problem: after connecting android 4.1.2 to windows 7 x64 pc - nothing happends. I tried installing 4 different roms (all released in december 2012), but if I remember correctly my previous android (4.0.4) and the one before (2.something) had the same problem. I also tried 4 defrent pc.
I installed Google USB Drivers in Android SDK Manager but couldn't add them to unknown devise (it said that there are no drivers in the 'usb_drivers' folder. Also tried drivers mentioned in this thread but with the same result.
Tried turning off and on USB Debuging and plenty other options as suggested in posts I found. I also don't have any option to chose while connecting android via USB cable (only turning USB storage on and off - while on pc does see it, but only as an SD card).
Thank you for your answer,
Paul

Have you tried to put phone on dev mode?
I reinstalled windows and it works for me
Try it too:
Go to device manager in windows, search for your device with exclamation>Right Click> Update Drivers> Search for drivers in my computer, change to MTP Mass Storage or something like that(2nd option)
