[Q] Samsung Smart Dock and OmniROM? - Omni Q&A

Hello team. I can't seem to find an official support page, I installed OmniROM 4.4.2 20140418 for Note 2 N7100 and I am extremely pleased with it, everything is working smoothly.
The only issue I have is that my Samsung Smart Dock just arrived yesterday and doesn't seem to recognize it at all, it only charges the phone, there's no notification about the dock, no video output and no detection of other usb accessories, the 9mm audio output doesn't work neither.
It's working with my dad's untouched S4, so I came to the conclusion it had to do something with OmniROM.
I have looked thoroughly into this problem in the forum and Google but haven't seen anyone address it directly.
Any support or workaround would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work!

Who knows - maybe support isn't in the kernel, or for audio, the audio HAL is missing support for it.
Problem is that supporting this requires there to be a maintainer who owns the accessory - and right now, the Note 2 maintainer is a bit inexperienced (he's learning, but he still has quite a bit to learn) and he also doesn't own that accessory.

CM 10.1 Resolution Issue

Hello all,
I was finally able to connect my Nexus Q to a TV after waiting about a week for an OTG cable in the mail. Since set up I have noticed that the output from the Q is slightly larger than the display I am using. I haven't been able to find a solution within the settings, and I've found no information online due to the rarity and limited support of this product. If anyone could help point me in the direction of some kind of solution I would greatly appreciate it!

Might sound silly, but did you make sure your TV isn't zooming in? TVs do that to make non wide screen content fit the whole screen

I did go in and check that, but changing those settings didn't work. I began swapping other settings I saw to see what would work, and it turned out changing the "Overscan" to "off" solved the problem completely.
i do not have an overscan option, still having this issue.

What TV are you using? Are you using any adapters?
apex tv, just have the micro hdmi to HDMI port. I have it plugged into slot 1, had it in slot 2 and makes no differences by port
Has anyone had success with this? I just got CM 10.1 running on my Q, and the image extends off the screen's physical area in every direction. I also haven't got an OTG cable yet so I can't really do anything, but that's another issue...
Anyway, my Q is hooked up through a Harman/Kardon receiver, and I've had issues with Linux PCs not reading the EDID info properly in the past, so I suspect it's a similar problem. The stock firmware didn't seem to have a problem though, and neither does the Chromecast or any commercial device.
There's gotta be a way to adjust the video mode timing, right?

[Q] CM12 and MHL with HLTE - Anybody done it?

Hi folks,
I have CM12 running on my Note 3 (temasek's build however for the purpose of this problem I don't see it matters vs standard HLTE CM12 variant).
When I plug in my Samsung MHL 2.0 adapter into my phone. Back on CM11, everything worked, audio and 1080p video via HDMI worked no problem.
With CM12 however, I get only video. No audio is being transmitted over HDMI. It still comes out of the loudspeaker of the phone.
Is there a potential setting I've overlooked or something new in Lollipop/CM12 that broke audio over MHL?
Anybody worked with this themselves or found a way around? Or is this just a bug in CM12?
Thanks,
Sam

Report it as a bug. Cm12 is still in "beta" state.

CS918s Android TV box

This unit is quite widely sold but there doesn't seem to be much of a community supporting it. There was some stuff over on DragonDevs, in particular a custom ROM by dvalin21, who also hangs around here, but that forum seems to have died.
The manufacturer of this box isn't exactly supporting it with firmware updates, last official update is over a year old, Android 4.4.2, I have some problems and was hoping there was a community out there to help solve it:
- remote control stopped working - LED still blinks on the device, but most commands not carried out by the OS (other than Power Off I think) - I have factory reset but it hasn't fixed the problem, also tried programming a universal remote from the C918S remote and it receives input but doesn't work with the box still
- xpad.ko not present, the box doesn't support xbox 360 controller out of the box, it seems, and I was hoping someone would've come up with a module for that (dvalin21's custom rom may contain it, but I can't download it and anyway it's old now). Annoying, all of these Android TV boxes would make neat little games consoles if only they included this support.
Any other savvy users of the OTT CS918S out there?
Hello! I have a CS918S also more than four years, very good, I had some problems got around with some roms. Maybe I can help on something. What problems your presented? If you have any error in English is due to be using a translator ...

Wireless Dex UI

It will be awesome if someone can mod Samsung Note 9 to display Dex UI wirelessly (i.e. using wifi mirroring technology).
Personally, I'm against it because the lag will just ruin the experience... But, well, experiencing it myself can change my opinion
Um OK.

I have the Microsoft wireless adapter (Miracast) that I use with my Surface Pro 3. I also occasionally use it with the Note 8, mostly for watching videos. The experience has been great and the lags are infrequent. Certainly not a dealbreaker.
I think it will indeed be cool if Dex can be done via Miracast. I use couple of Dex apps (Dex Max and Desktop Hub) and it will be interesting to find out what their developers think. Maybe it will be possible to add a toggle to the apps that trigger Dex mode instead of screen mirroring when the phone is connected via Miracast...
Great idea
I guess Samsung heard you. Read this article ->

Awesome! After 2 years, my post now became a reality with the recently announced Galaxy Note 20 ultra.
Wondering now if this feature can be brought to our old note 9/note 10 via software update or does this require a specific hardware?
What you think guys?
Would be very happy if it's a software thing and they give it to us with the OneUI 2.5 update (if we even get that first xd).

GOOD NEWS !!!
Well I don't how and when it came to our Galaxy Note 9 but the Wireless DEX function is indeed there !
I was just testing the mirroring function with my Galaxy Note 9 and a Amazon FireStick (should work the same with a Google Chromecast) connected onto a 24" monitor via Smart View, then by chance at the end I just pressed the Dex icon and the Dex desktop display just appeared on the monitor !!!
I still have a message telling the "connected TV" is not fully optimized for wireless Dex but it's still working.
Then, There is a second message saying we can use the Note 9 as a touchpad and it works !
I don't have a USB-C hub with me but I guess we could use a mouse and a keyboard as well...

Don't remember when it came either, but I've been using it flawlessly on my roku tv for streaming from sites. Still get hiccups with it occasionally after a period of time though. Reconnecting usually seems to fix them it seems.

no docked video out - neither lineage nor ubuntu

hey there. i have lineage 15 (i think. july 29 2019 release), and ubuntu l4t running on my switch. i would love to be able to plug it into the dock and output to the monitor and use usb etc. neither one outputs, but should fine and i dont see many help topics about this via google or xda search. anybody know what may be the issue?
I am using an insignia brand dock(best buy brand, their quality is actually really good on every product ive tried, a broad range. anyway,), and i have tried both the insignia adapter, and the nintendo adapter for power,, no issues there. i dock it, light turns green, it charges, but display doesnt switch. id even be happy with the display cloning.
anyway, if anyone has any insights on how to resolve this (especially the latest l4t which is 18.something) please please even if you only have a lead to info reply here so i can develop in class instead of carting around a laptop bag full of hardware and cords etc.
You answered your own question. You're using a 3rd party dock. Developers aren't going to bother supporting something that hardly any Switch owner uses.

dude, its insignia. ive never known them to not use OEM specs down to the chip. anyway, it should just be a standard PnP usb bridge, and last i checked, usb and hdmi hasnt changed. still direct pin to pin like it always has been.
I didnt come here to get insulted. i came here for help. either input something useful or say nothing. some of us blew all our money on tuition and dont have the 60 bucks to drop on a dock. thats a week of eating
edit: also, i have tried several direct usbC to output adapters, a dvi and an hdmi. both work fine on my phone and pull up DeX, or connect to my tv etc. none of them work on the switch tho..
You didn't get insulted and you got your answer. You may not like that answer but it's the answer nonetheless. If you bothered to read you would know that 3rd party docks are iffy as far as working with Android/Linux. Also it's already been confirmed that the Insignia dock does not work. I think what you fail to realize is it's not "pnp". The developers have to support it. They have to include drivers for said hardware. You do not understand how the Switch dock works.
Well I finally found this thread again, after 4 months or so of searching and waiting I got another 3rd party dock and it works fine. Even better with the new android 10 and l4t. Now 3rd party works fine.
Issue was, noone sold the official dock separately you had to get a switch with it for the longest time
Now they are finally starting to sell docks. Ish. It wasn't for a lack of trying.
HI, I'M looking for a 3rd party that , small enough to carry with and supporting HDMI out for android and l4t. SO which dock exactly are u using right now?
I already tried two different docks and don't wanna a 3rd try
