Currently experiencing proximity sensor problem, when making a call screen turns of itself and doesn't turn on until pressing home or power button. Also tested proximity *#0*# numbers change (proximity stuck 1.0) but screen only goes green and stays like that. Any help ?
P.S it has always worked perfectly in stock rom but after rooting and flashing rom can't get it working properly..

But notice when you turn it fully away from your face like 2 feet away it will do just fine... It just need some calibration I guess. .

Not really, still proximity stays:1 amd while in call screen stays black even after what you said..
EDIT: Managed to fix it through Terminal Emulator.

I saw a cover for the nexus 7 that said it turns the screen off and on with the closing and opening of the screen. I assume it's done with the light sensor. Is there any way to dk it with the gt?

those use the proximity sensor, and we don't have one so unfortunately no there is no way to set that up.
Its not the proximity sensor, its some sort of magnetic sensor. It does it if you have a small magnet in the right place on the case. As we do not have such a sensor on the tab, we cannot do the same thing.
In theory, you could write an app that turns off screen depending on what the light sensor senses

Yes we do, theres 2 other things at the top of your tab aside from camera and phone speaker. They are the light and proximity sensorsl

maybe on your 3100 but I installed this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5vbWQuYXV0b3NjcmVlbm9uIl0. that uses the proximity sensor to wake the screen and it said there wasn't one on my 3113. All I have is the camera and a light sensor.
suggestion

ok, cool, auto screen on was just the first I had found and it worked on the device I tested it on so I never looked for any others. still no use on my 3113, it says no proximity sensor.

This works, however if you are using screen timeout, its not saving you much since it just turns the screen off, it does not put the device to sleep. It does function as an auto on / off for the screen. I found it very quirky , sometimes it works when I close the cover, sometimes it does not. Unfortunately there is no sensor calibration. I want to test it to see if it actually uses extra battery in order to keep the sensor alive. Also, its a bit flaky if you use some of the advanced features like turning on and off airplane mode.
Thanks. I didn't know about the magnet.

No need to write such an app. There are several on the play store that do exactly that.
However I've tried them all and I can' get any to work properly using CM10. Others may have better luck.
Use smartcover from android market. It works very well.
The proximity sensor stopped working. When I'm making a phone call the screen is still blank when removed from the head.
Quick glance only work when I try it in the demo.
Is there any settings I might have missed or is the proximity sensor broken?
I got this problem too

R you guys rooted and/or have a custom rom? If yes reflash to stock and see if that helps. I`am on stock/unrooted atm and works fine.
Something weird is happening during a phone call. While I'm talking I'll pull the phone away from my head and the screen won't turn on, ever. Even when I want to end the call I have to press the power button and then end call after the screen turns on. Doesn't matter what ROM I'm on. Also a buddy who isn't even rooted has the same problem. I'm hoping it just a stupid setting.
Any ideas?

Same problem here.. even on a fresh room install.. so I'm afraid it is not a settings issue

Do you guys have a case for it? Maybe the sensor is covered somehow.
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
Yes I have a case but I had the case since I got the phone and it only recently started doing this
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
Took the case off and tried nothing. Does it go by a light sensor or the gyro?
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
No case here either. Very strange

Mine started do this as well. After phone call pull the phone away and have to hit power button to turn screen on.

Happened to me and I found the solution on another thread. Sounds stupid but it worked for me. Blow into the ear piece. I used a compressed air spray can but it may work with just your mouth. Apparently some dust gets in front of the proximity detector inside the phone next to the ear piece. This removed it. Give it a shot.
so I'm on a Google edition rom and when I'm in a call and try to take the phone off my face and do something on it while in call it keeps turning the screen off.. never had a problem multi tasking a phone call and using the phone on TW rom but am having it now.
anyone know a quick fix to this?

I have exactly this problem on my rogers 1337m running jamal's 4.2.2 rom. I thought it was just a faulty proximity sensor.
Sometimes it happens to me because my hand goes over the sensor lol. Just watch where your hand is at and you'll be fine.

Hi,
How can I turn off the proximity sensor completly since it is damaged ? During calls the screen goes blank and I cant use the phone. All tips are welcome
Cheers
Is it faulty because of the screen replacement?
If yes, then you can reverse the rubber on the proximity sensor to make it work again.

Yes it got broken during the screen replacement process. That's why I wanted to have the sensor disabled
