[KERNEL] Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1[SM-T520] Cybertronic v5 - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 General

Cybertronic Kernel v5 - 4/23/2014
Sync-up Kernel to 3.4.82 (from 3.4.39)
Samsung clean-up and debug removal (They leave tons of factory-only, test-only debug code on)
Config optimization
Cache read-ahead optimized
More free RAM (1760MB Stock, now 1830MB)
Compiled with latest 4.8 Android toolchain (better ARM optimizations for Cortex-A15)
Caveats:
Secure storage is disabled
Only signed Samsung kernels can have this enabled. Keys/Wifi passwords, etc. Are still stored in the secure Android key-chain,
they are just not stored in TrustZone hardware. If this is critical for you, stick with the stock Samsung kernels.
In Progress...:
- ARM HMP (This will allow all 8 cores to be online at once) Porting it in will be a challenge, since it was introduced in the
3.11 kernel branch. I'm hoping the next release from Samsung bumps up the version, so it will be easier. I'll work on it in
in the meantime though.
- Merge-in ADF from Android mainline.
- Merge in anything neat from S5
Install TWRP Recovery first:

Download and install in TWRP Recovery, or use Flashify:
MOD EDIT: Link Removed as per no kernel source as per XDA Rules, and no reply from Author of said kernel.

Works well so far. Features list will be nice
Dont want to look at purely benchmarks but seems fluid.

Nice! Is there a chance to get a kernel for T320 too?

Ill be more than happy to do testing on my SM-T520,

You'll never brick your device from a kernel. It doesn't overwrite the bootloader or recovery. So you can always go back to stock, even if the kernel doesn't boot.
Anyhow.... I'm only looking for testers, who have experience. This isn't a public kernel yet, which is why the limited info. So please, calm down.
People have had good results testing so far, so I'll be releasing full details and the public file soon.
Thanks

No worries I'm not building up a rage or something like that
It was meant as a figure of speech since we now nothing
I just think it might attract more testers if we know more about what we are testing.
Is it optimized in general or is it meant for speed(oc'ing) or adds it extra functionalities to the kernel? something like that.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to your official release, and thank you for your time and effort you put into it for us Tab PRO users :good:

Does it mean we can also expect some roms for t520

i must say i have had quite the share of flashing, reflashing, and modifyting my however limited selection of android devices. Never bricked and item yet. I would love to test your kernel and give it my honest opinion.
Since its a testing thing, feel free to PM me deetails

Would love to try this, but how to get TWRP on SM-T520?
Found these recovery images for (I guess) our device, how to install these? Odin? http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/picassowifi
Edit: I can confirm that flashing TWRP from rooted SM-T520 works with Flashify. Flashify finds and downloads correct TWRP2.7.0.1.

You need TWRP first, with which you can make a backup of System to preserve the current kernel.
Running with the kernel now. Seems to be in order, but cannot tell of any advantages that are noticable.

Just flashed it, can't really notice much difference, but will give it some time and report back

2. Select ROM in Rom manager
3. Select wipe data, cache, dalvik
4. PROFFIT!!!!!
No need to odin back to stock before flashing this and GB bootloaders aren't required
if the glitch kernel freaks out on you... you may need a different leakage version. Source code and updates for glitch kernel, can be found in the following thread ------->http://bit.ly/pNkURn
CHANGELOG:
v1.3- Initial release and port from samsung vibrant, relatively untested
Seems interesting...i'll try it out tonight.
As shall I... I doubt many people here will get the KingKlick reference lol (I'm from way back... G1 days). Great to see you deving for Captivate, biff.
you guys are officially testers. Please let me know any bugs or issues you have. Cappy and Vibrant are basically the same so i think i pulled it off proper, but since i don't have the device, its not possible to know. Once you all confirm its as stable as it should in theory be, i'll push to rom manager and start doing biweekly updates.
Sounds good. I won't be using Glitch though, I'm currently testing a kernel of my own (in my sig). TK-Glitch was the dev of Gitch kernel btw
I will give a try also this night!
So I can flash this with gb bootloader and Samsung rom without the need to go back to froyo stock?

That's what the OP says. If you have issues, then they're most likely caused by your GB bootloaders. Give it a try, worst that can happen is that you have to go stock. (disclaimer: worse can happen if you really, really, really screw up and I'm not responsible)
+1. I have jvp installed. With gb bootloaders. Do I have to-
1. flash to stock eclair
2. flash to stock gb

Sure thing. The ROM's been great so far, no issues except for a soft reboot, then when it booted it hard rebooted. Just a one time thing, and I've used the phone plenty since then, so I don't think it's anything to worry about.

This has been one crazy week. I never imagioned going from TWRP2 as impossible on samsung devices, to a one click zip so fast.
Simply flash the zip below, you will have the exact same kernel as before, except with TWRP recovery magically replacing cwm.
This means that this can be flashed on CM7,CM9,AOKP,Gummy,CNA,etc regardless of whether you are using the stock kernel, glitch kernel, or anything else.
Note: You must be rooted and/or have a custom recovery already installed!
Disclaimer: Team Win strives to provide a quality product. However, it is your decision to install our software on your device. Team Win takes no responsibility for any damage that may occur from installing or using twrp.
Features:
Touch based recovery
Flash zips
Backup / restore roms
wipe cache,dalvik,/data
Misc.
Known Issues:
No usb support (adb, mount usb storage)
No /datadata support (can't backup or wipe app data)
reboot recovery broken (just reboots normally)
Report Problems:
I know there are a lot of problems as this is an ALPHA release.
However, it is still usable as a recovery, and a public release allows me to find and diagnose more problems.
So if you have a problem that has not been mentioned, post about it with a log, so that I may begin fixing it.
goto Advanced->Copy Log to SDcard
then upload /sdcard/recovery.log
Download: http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/captivatemtd
I hope the bugs will get ironed out, so this can become the best recovery for us captvate users (and next other SGS devices).
Enjoy!
Looks very promising. Will try out in the next day or so.
Thanks

I realize. I have been working on this for some time. I hang out in #glichbeta IRC and contribute to their dev work... So they have had access to this for a while, and have started integrating it into the glitch kernel, which is also in AOKP.
Go ahead and ask sixstringsg. They are my prebuilts I shared.
Anyways, this has a few advantages. Ex: you can still run stock cwm, then flash this over your kernel to test it out. Instead of being 'forced' into using something before it is perfected.
So far the only problems I find are that b34 essentials is only half way flashing. TWRP doesn't like the morphing script. And butter cream does not work at all with TWRP.

The 4.2.2 GAPPs package
A question for you, where did you learn to build ROMs for the HP touchpad? I've been googleing how to set up a build environment on Ubuntu, which I've nearly completed but then all guides on building cm10.1 (for example) only cover supported devices of which the Touchpad isn't.... I can't find much with Google at least on Touchpad specific ROM building.

This is hands down the best guide for setting up your build environment. Its okay to be on 13.04 as well, you might just have some unmet dependantcies you need to install. You'll likely be told you are holding broken packages and will need to meet the dependencies before you can install the other packages.
sudo apt-get install gcc
sudo apt-get install g++
After following that guide you should be set up to build.
Building for unsupported devices depends on the ROM you are trying to create. Basically you just need to follow the file paths in your local repository until you find something out of place or missing, then fix it.
You can see my githib at github.com/cdmoncrieff where you can see some of the commits I made to build for AOKP to get an idea of the process. There is also a short build-instructions repo with a few details of the process for 4.2.2. If you have any questions, which if you are going to try building, I will be glad to help
I still need more posts before links, here's another!
OK that's great I will take a look, the main problem for me at the moment is time. I'm currently using Ubuntu 12.10 I'm hoping to at least compile cm9 or cm10 to start with as they are pretty much fully operational. SGA's efforts with 4.2 and yours have inspired me to have ago. I guess the battery life is the main item that needs work in 4.2.2 and working out how to get Bluetooth working. What are your plans? Do you intend to try to improve on the current builds?

I've looked at your github and there are some useful changes in there I may move over to my rom. I just started getting phantom touches in one corner so I'll try out the ts_srv.c change. I might try the system tunings to system.prop, why did you choose those changes?
Why did you disable backuptool in tenderloin_ota_from_target_files? It is what keeps your gapps when you flash. Does it cause you some problems? I find it works just fine.
good job on the rom.
By the way, the camera driver is consuming lots of power (90mA sleep) so I reverted those three commits. The camera doesn't work but I'm down to 19 and I hope to get back to 4. (it's in my new branch c10.1, I'm still new at git so I left my old tree with camera for those who want it and a new tree with it reverted for me.)
Keep up the good work.

OMNI 6.0.1 vanilla build

Hi guys,
I built the latest omnirom for our Z3 compact using sources kindly provided and created by Humberto Borba. There will be very little support for this ROM but I wanted to provide it as is for anyone who wants to use a custom ROM as the current choices for our device are pretty limited. I am not a DEV for this device but I do know how to build.
You will need an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER
So all that goes with that ie loss of DRM etc applies here. You will also need the latest version of the bootloader to get this to work, so ensure you are coming from an uptodate 5.1.1 ROM or any 6.0.1 ROM
If you want to install GAPPS then you will need to do it immediately after installing the ROM. Do not reboot and then install GAPPs
Whats more the camera does have the fisheye lens distortion. Anyone following the AOSP dev work will be familiar with all the issues on the phone.
Again I am not posting this as a DEV project or in the DEV channels as I didn't develop it and won't be supporting it in any meaningful way.
kind regards

I'll try again! Thanks for your attention!
Hi! Thanks for your work with thiese vanilla build. I'm so impressed the whole flash procedure. I'm came from slimm1.5 rom, wiped data, cache, dalvik, system in twrp 3.0.2.0 then flashed omnirom homemade, after that slimm gapps. The whole flash time, the first time boot was incredible fast. The whole system was quickiest to the nowdays roms. I tested the new camera, but i think the fiah eye bug is still there.. But maybe not so "big eye" like previously aosp roms. Anyway, I like it. Now, testing the battery life

I guess there is no critical difference with Most other countrie's 2.4 and 5.0 GHz 802.11 channels.
Found channels on my wireless router, same with bellow's information about In Korea sections.

@mcgi5sr2 thank's 4 building a custom rom and being motivated to contribute here. do you see any way to get rid of the fisheye camera bug? i've bought my z3c in january 2015 already and built/offered a custom rom (pacman) some weeks later. i stopped contributions 3 months later, when i went to holidays and needed a fully working camera. since then i saw MANY MANY talented and motivated developers & contributers here coming and leaving within only 1 year. i'm personally using concept rom which i find quite satisfying for every day use.
but i think there won't be any wide rom developement for that nice little device if the pictures taken keep being that unusable...
regards
As of yet I don't know how to get rid of the fish eye lens effect. If I am honest I probably won't anytime soon either as I have a lot to be working on IRL
Could u please tell me how to root, thanks:good:

Hi Charles,
I have not been able to gain root. Initially I thought it was due to the SEpolicy denying root access. However the last few builds have had SEpolicy set to permissive so would allow root. However I am still struggling to even install root. The official Omni line is that all their builds allow for the use of systemless root from Chainfire. They do not support system root which is what is used on the stock Sony derived builds.
If you have any success regarding root please let me know.

You are a good developer, your ROM is the most stable of third party Android M.:good:
Thanks but all praise should go the omni and SonyAOSP teams
Could please post the link (if any) of the config file repo you used to compile the ROM ?

the platform manifest I use is from OmniRoms github.
https://github.com/omnirom/android
and for the AOSP builds
https://github.com/SonyAosp/platform_manifest
as you will be able to see from these, I am only building not developing. That said I am currently synching up again for some new builds. Sony have released some new a3xxx adreno blobs so camera may be even more stable.

Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

I don't have a moto mod yet, I'm waiting until the keyboard mod will be shipped in August. I just got my Moto Z but I'd like to already use a compatible custom ROM. I'd just like to be prepared when the keyboard mod arrives.

I legit have no way of testing it to make sure it works if it hasn't come out yet [emoji6] .
Should be a basic fix anyway.

Sorry, I assumed that all moto mods run on the same platform/driver, so that when one moto mod is working with it, all (future) moto mods should be supported.
Apparently that's not the case, but glad to hear it would be a basic fix.
i cant go in the web site and this rom support jbl mod ?
no jbl speaker mod dont work
I'll get those mod changes merged in soon enough.

Whenever you try to download it, it gives you a 404?
Can you try this again for me as I successfully downloaded the latest version.

I merged in the battery mod changes. Efficiency mode works as expected. One thing I've noticed is battery stats will show the phone is awake a significant amount of the time. Snapchat/camera apps no longer force close. I believe whenever the charge state is changed from the mod the kernel throws a wakelock that the framework interprets as "wake up."
Most likely will not have the speaker mod working right away as I'm redoing the audio policy and have nothing to test it with. I pushed a change to fix speaker audio using the backend (as originally intended). Mod zip it's included by default from now on.
Let me know if you have any other issues.

You need to flash an su add-on in recovery.
E.g. Supersu, magisk, lineages.
Sent from my XT1650-03 using Tapatalk
It would be be better prerooted.
When I do flash Supersu, magisk it ends up deleting imei information on Moto Z.
