[Q] Bricked L3 - Optimus L3, L5, L7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I bricked my Optimus L3 after a firmware flash. Phone was rooted, and had CM9 installed and working great, but no network. I read up and found that you could flash V20 firmware via recovery, and should fix it, so I ran update from CWM recovery, and installed fine, then rebooted. When I press power, I get a vibration, and the two soft keys light up for a second, but nothing on the screen. No logo - nothing. I've tried emergency mode, and same thing, never anything on the screen, just the two lights for a second. Computer recognizes the phone as a modem if I plug it in to usb while holding volume down, and I've gotten KDZ and LG support tool to recognize it, but KDZ flash always ends in upgrade error, (I got stock firmware from Original_firmware.exe tool, and I've tried a v10 firmware I got from a forum. I've tried both several times, and always upgrade error. I disabled modem in device mgr. and ran KDZ as administrator). LG support tool recognizes phone, and shows 'no updates available', and I can get it to start downloading firmware by selecting 'upgrade recovery', but Internet always disconnects during driver install, and download never completes. Any ideas?
Thanks

Any hope?
Does anyone know if there's even any hope, or...?

3.plug usb cable to your pc and your phone
4.wait until "download mode" appears
5.use* tool attached to flash
FIRMWARE FOUND HERE

I'll try it out, thanks. I haven't been able to get anything to appear on the screen, but I can get the computer to recognize the phone, so I'll go with that.

I got Windows enabler to show 'on', but when I opened 'Flasher', no buttons were usable, all greyed out. I tried every one several times. Any ideas?

once in download mode you can try your old program too it should work

Ok, got it working, and same result as KDZ, Runs for about 2-3 minutes, shows a whole bunch of log entries about wparam, lparam, etc, pauses for a minute or so, then says 'upgrade error: lparam 500 wparam 100'. What do you think?

After this try to hard reset it, by pressing the power key, volume down key, and home key at once. It will boot and you will see an android unpacking a box, wait for it to finish. After that your phone will be as good as new(I hope).

[Q] Bricked GT540 HELP!

So looks like I've maybe bricked my fiancées GT540... Needless to say she's not too happy.
I was doing an update to 2.1 via the LG software, and it seems to have crashed half way through, leaving the phone in no-mans land.
I can get it in to "Download Mode" but not much more after that.
There are instructions for a Hard Reset, by holding down volume up, home and search or camera button for 5 seconds, but they don't work.
The LG software is now "Checking the connection with the cellphone..."
I've tried taking the batter out, the SIM card, the SD card, still no joy.
I really can't afford to be going out tomorrow for a new phone for her, so i'd like some help!
The most annoying thing is that I managed to update my GT540 a couple of hours earlier today...
So after rebooting the PC, and having the phone in "Download mode" it's now showing up on the LG software as "Connected", but now when it says "updating is not possible any longer due to a fatal error while the LG Mobile Phone Software Update"
When it's connected and not in "Download Mode" it give an error "Software update is not supported for this model"
Try flashing a different way, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=864769 if that doesn't work, give her your phone...
Thanks for that link.
I still don't seem to be having much luck.
I've tried on a PC running windows 7 and it seems to crash when running that update. just trying it again on an XP machine.
Any other advice?
I've tried calling LG, but they said it would be best to take it to their repair centre, who I can't seem to get hold of...
try holding volume up+search +power when the phone is on .otherwise flash it with the KDZ updater
Thanks for that
I've tried this. Holding those buttons down for 30+ seconds, and it won't move from the "Download Mode" screen.
Trying to use the method outlined in the link above, but i'm having trouble with that as well... Now it's saying that the PC can't find the phone
Disable the android modem driver in the device manager .Open the KDZ updater and try to update it in CS EMERGENCY mode.
Thanks again, here is the log i'm getting from the updater...
[R&D Test Tools Log File]
11:18:06 : Launching SW update

My P705 in emergency mode and Not being detected by the computer

I installed 10k rooted on my P705 and was about to install a custom recovery, when the phone came on it was in emergency mode but the computer could no longer detect it, I have tried all the usb ports on about 4 computers and changed the cable trice, So I'm a little bit sure it's nothing to do with the pc. I have tried putting it on holding volume + and -. Any help will be really appreciated because I am stuck right now.
I have gone through the forum for like 6 hours, I couldn't find anything , I apologize before hand if this was treated elsewhere.
Did you try flashing your stock firmware with Software update [KDZ] 1.0.4.4 (KDZ-Flasher) while in emergency mode?
Remove the Drivers and plug the phone in our PC.. maybe reinstall the Drivers
yes I did try to flash it but the computer doesn't detect it in the first place. So I get a " no phone found"

thank you but that didn't work either
Just to be clear, you're trying to flash your stock firmware with Software update [KDZ] (KDZ-Flasher), while in emergency mode (your phone in is that yellow emergency mode)?
If so, then maybe try the LG MOBILE SUPPORT TOOL.
I'm not familiar with it, but I read here that it's an alternative to Software update.

Thanks but Thats not exactly the problem, It DOES NOT READ to begin with. If the laptop could detect the phone, then I would be able to flash "anything". My problem is the laptop cannot detect the phone....
I'm confused - what do you mean by "DOES NOT READ"?
Your wrote that you are getting "no phone found" in Software update [KDZ].
So I asked if this is happening when you are in the emergency mode (your phone screen is kind of yellow and there is "emergency mode" in it).
I also wrote that if you were in emergency mode, then try LG MOBILE SUPPORT TOOL.
use another computer, maybe a problem with your OS (windows)

Okay, I got it.
Did you install the latest drivers?
If not, you can do so by downloading and installing them from your support site or by downloading and installing LG PC SUITE.
After that please open device manager and see if there's anything there with an exclamation or a question mark. If there is, please don't continue and post back what it is.
Only when you see that everything is okay, disconnect your phone, turn it off, enter into emergency mode (by clicking volume up + volume down + power button), make sure that you're in emergency mode (the yellow screen), connect your phone, run Software update [KDZ] (KDZ-Flasher), make sure to set the right type (CDMA / 3GQCT), make sure to leave the PhoneMode in DIAG, browse your kdz stock firmware file, and then click on "Lunch software update".
I'll be looking forward for your comment.
Please don't give up!

Same problem here. I downloaded a program called Optimus Toolkit, as I have an Optimus LGl45c, and the program is for
Linux. Same problem- CAN'T SEE PHONE. Program must use ADB, which CAN'T SEE PHONE while it's in emergency mode, as
apparently the correct partition isn't mounted!! Windows KDZ updater sees phone (try the solution from another blog- run in
different compatibility mode: right click on program>properties>compatibility. this worked for me) but the KDZ Updater can't
find the LGMobileDL.dll... lol! wait til you try it!...) So, for he/she who suggested LG PC Suite, please listen. Suite CAN'T SEE
PHONE either, and refuses to run any further....
Anybody have any tricky ways to flash a boot? It would have to be a Linux hack method.....
I think he did not check usb debugging so cant find phone
Not sure if it will work but no harm trying at this stage:
take out batteries,
wait for 30s,
put it back,
hold power and volume down
when keys light up, touch menu button (not the home button)
feel vibrate?
LOL!

K. A couple weeks later- for those of you with l45c:
You will get to the point where you find that LGNPST is the only thing that will flash. Having troubles registering the .dll? That cost me
over a week. Move the dll to your system/lg electronics/lgnpst folder and open the cmd window (terminal screen) as administrator.
Edit: Use the command> regsvr32 "name of dll".dll
You should google the regsvr command, as it is different for 64 bit machines, and there is a different system file to put the dll in..
Trouble is, we have no proper dll for the 45c. I tried the ms690 dll with an ms690 bin. Unfortunately, it flashed all the way through- and
now I have a perma-black screen... so don't try that.
I DO have an LGL45C-CT2 binary.... just no dll for the 45c, as usual. Not that it would matter- LGNPST cant see phone any more than
ADB could- there is no more 'emergency download'. I will check the battery, etc...
Morale of story- once again, there is evidence that the l45c is not supported. It is not an MS690, and probably not a P690... Use
LGNPST at your own risk, but quit pounding your head over other methods! Time wasted...
Until next time... keep hacking....

[Help asap] Galaxy tab 4 stuck in Odin/recovery mode.

I tried going on Reddit, but they never answered my question so I thought you guys could help me out.
So, I just got my tablet today, and this was my second time ever flashing anything. I tried to flash it via Odin. Didn't work. Ended up getting stuck on the download screen on the tablet and the program wasn't really doing anything on my computer, so I figured it froze and I disconnected the tablet from the computer. I rebooted the tablet. It ended up booting into the recovery screen. It says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies, and try again." So I figured I would try it. I downloaded Kies 3, and connected the device. No success. Said the device isn't supported in Kies 3. So I downloaded just regular Kies, and connected the tablet. It connects and disconnects about 3 times and then it will attempt to make a connection forever with no success. I just don't know what to do and need help. I can kik, skype, message you, whatever will help me unbrick this stupid tablet. lol. Also, I can't go into download mode, so I can't stockrom it I don't think
Could you guys help me out? It'd be much appreciated. Thank you.
PS: I can't even ****ing get Odin to even recognize that the device is even there.

Try this and get back to us.
While booted and while it's in the bootloop hold volume up, home and power until it turns off. DO NOT let those buttons go when this happens. Keep holding them all until the first splash screen(Tab 4 or whatever it says) appears again. As soon as you see that, let go of the power button while continuing to hold vol up and home.
A second or two after letting go of power you should see recovery mode. If you can get there, update the thread.
Also, you may need to reinstall the USB drivers. They are a real pain and when I have soft bricked my devices in past I found I had to install them over and over.
Good luck!
FYI, Kies is utter trash. I have never had success with it. Ever. Not even one single time with my Tab 3, Tab 4, S3 or Note 2.
---------- Post added at 11:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:43 PM ----------
BTW, I suppose I should be telling you how to get into download mode. It would be easier for you to just flash a stock rom for your device.
So while your tablet is in the bootloop repeat the above steps cept instead of holding VOL UP, you hold VOL DOWN and do everything else the same.
Hopefully you will be prompted to hit volume up to get into download mode. If so, you should be set.
At that point you would get open Odin and flash the stock firmware for your device.
Remember you may need to reinstall the USB drivers a few times and this important, while installing them make sure your tablet is NOT plugged in. When they are done installing, then you plug your device in.
I hope I haven't confused you. =-}

Download Mode? 306SH

I may have stumbled upon Download mode for the 306SH!
I saw this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/yur...recovery-cwm-based-recovery-v6-0-5-1-t3001339 in the Portal today and tried if for the lulz.
What happened when I followed steps 1-3 under Unlocking Bootloader is the LED turns Green (see what I did there ) with the screen remaining off.
STEPS I DID:
1) Turned off phone
2) Plugged in USB into my laptop
3) After Charging is displayed I held ONLY Vol Up. When I pressed Vol Up Windows gave the audio cue that a device was plugged in, BUT DID NOT show up under Device Manager after the scan for new devices.
The LED turns off after less than 2 minutes, but Windows does not audibly cue any disconnected devices until I turn the phone back on.
My setup: Lenovo Y580 running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit, fully updated. My phone has the 12-11-14 update and is encrypted (SD card as well).
For future reference I will be getting another Crystal because I managed to fling my current one off my bed during vacation and cracked the touchscreen in the upper left-hand corner. I will use it to the best of it's ability for testing (if root happens) since I am unable to use the menu hamburger seen in most apps and won't use it as a daily driver then.
oh you mean this is how to enter bootloader mode in 306sh
I don't know...
This is my first phone from Sharp so I have no clue what it is. Could I have found the bootloader? Sure. Did I? I don't know. I don't have the know-how to give a definitive answer. I think I found Download mode because of the behavior I saw with Windows.
Someone with way more experience than I should make that call as to what I found.
You'll know if its unlocked bootloader because (normally) the final step is to unlock bootloader through the andriods end and it will delete everything off your phone ie factory reset. The issue is getting the phone to connect through as an abd interface, to do this you need the device connecting and install the sharp specific abd driver, from there we'd be able to run command prompt to unlock it.Doing it as you would normal andriods gives no response I've found the driver but the up+vol method times out to fast for me to install the driver (it does prompt though) with no luck trying to install the driver with print (learning stuff as I go). Have not been able to get it green.
---------- Post added at 03:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:24 AM ----------
You'll need java, we developer tools, and andriod SDK , sharps adb driver, and not to sure if its needed but I also installed sharps SDK add on.
i can access recovery mode 306sh, but it just 2 option, factory reset and reboot, and not connect adb to sideload updateroot.zip from chainfire
I keep getting stuck on "waiting for device" and nothing fixes it
mine's fried, shows up in windows as about 30 usb drives at once...

Hi there! Yes, I got to get it back... But it was this hard
Anyway there goes some tips:
After you remove the battery plug, you only need to put it back after everything is done.
You have to keep trying the short circuit until you get a new hardware called "Qualcomm hs-diagnostics 9006" and you computer recognizes a lot of disk partitions. The normal device my computer recognized was "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" and no tip out there worked.
When the computer recognizes the wrong device, remove the USB, plug it back and try again. One time it recognized one whole 32GB partition, but thankfully I didn't try anything besides removing the USB and try again.
After everything, I got Download Mode back and, after some tries (I've got some errors), got the flashtool to flash the ROM back.
