downgrade note 3 - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to downgrade my galaxy note 3 N9005 kit kat 4.4 2 to jelly bean. What's is the process? My mobile have to total 40 GO storage including external card.but my device showing 110 Gb. How can I fixed it? Can I apply custom room?

No go. Not possible

Download the jellybean software. Put your phone in flash able mode by pusing the right combinations volumebutton etc. Bla bla.
Then flash that jellybean with odin on youre phone.and you are done. But be carefull iff u do it wrong you might brick it.

At this point you can not downgrade N9005 from 4.4 back to 4.3. If your knox flag is still 0 don't even try it, since you might void your warranty.

If it was an OTA (over the air) update or by kies, use your warranty. Downgrading will void your warranty. Take it to an authorized samsung centre and claim it.
Did you try partitioning for some reason?

You are on Jellybean. You can go to KK but can't go below MJ3 I believe, it's been a while and is pointless info in my case, so just be careful.
If you do decide to go to KK then you won't be able to go back to JB...

I think my bootloader is locked
Sent from my SM-N9005 using xda app-developers app

It is possible to downgrade my friend but what we would recommend is that don't. Wait for another update to fix the issue on its own or if you are impatient (like we all are), take it to the support centre and ask them to fix the issue by reinstalling the same update on ur device. That is the best recommendation I can give.

i know that it's impossible downgrade with bootloader locked

Wish u all the best with it. Just try not bricking it hehe

heres the update if you want to do it
but you cant go back to 4.3 and ive read 4.4.2 is a bit buggy
Maybe that's why they haven't rolled it out in other countries yet, I will probably just wait then because I use my note 3 as my daily driver so I'd rather it was 100%

I think it is not a 100% safe thing to try to update a carrier-locked Note3 - given that you also do not have a lot of experience I would suggest waiting a little more (and in the meantime reading in the many threads around and searching for somobody else with a carrier-locked Note 3 from the same 3 UK carrier).
You can get a free unlock code from three, got mine installed polish kit kat no problems.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Just to mention that some 3rd party apps still require updates from developers to work on 4.4 so if you don't mind waiting a month or two this should also give them time too.
So if I get it unlocked, then its OK to flash the official update?
Basically I just want yo know the effect of flashing an official ROM on a carrier locked fone.
Yeah I've been reading the threads so I know how to flash it using Odin.just wanted to know will it be OK or will my fone go KU-KU
Sorry if I'm eating your brains
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can flash even if it's network locked. It will stay network locked... But won't be a problem. You can also get your phone unlocked free from three.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
You will loose root unless you use mobile odin with the keep root feature, and boot into download, then flash the bootloader. I don't think there's a de la vega style root on 4.4.

Device is modified?

My note 3 is running the belgian 4.4.2 I downloaded from Sam mobile and flashed with odin, though the phone says it is a custom rom and when I click check for updates it also says phone is modified.
Anyone know what the problem is here and how I can restore ota updates?
The phone was rooted when i was on 4.3 but I have flashed first the Polish and then the Belgian 4.4s via odin

You can't go back to JB from KK... You may as well have said to connect to Kies and let that fix it...
To the Op, check if your Knox warranty void has been tripped, if it has you may as well root and install a custom rom and/or recovery, or at the very least xposed framework.
You can't reset theKnox but you can use a mod to trick the system into thinking its official which will allow OTA updates. You may need a couple of things to be active so the OTA will install but I'll let you look that up.

Used to read about a bug on samsung phones where if it contains too many files it would show system status as modified. Try transfer as much as your files from phone memory into sdcard then remove it. Then check again system status. It sounds crazy but i'm pretty sure that's my understanding from the thread

Best is poland, from what I have read and some ppl said.
But I couldn't find latest poland nb4 as what most ppl said.
So I flashed the nb7 germany but it requires pit file to be flashed together.
Or perhaps u could try nb7 uk.
My sview cover is working just fine with nb7 germany. No issue. And fyi, I m not using any original scover ciz too ex for me.
Sd card problem I found so far only on dolphin apps, where by it detects as "external sd" only, instead of "storage/external sd". Therefore if u want to download something, it will still be only able to save to internal sd.
Btw, battery much more better than 4.3.
I m quite satisfy with it, based on my same usage.
And it really did stay very well in deep sleep.
I discharged, and nver use it for 4 hours, it dropped to 98% only. Something I never see before.
Sent from N9005 4.4.2 NB7 rooted device
NB7 Germany contains the fix for the 3rd party accessories. (It is the second 4.4.2 update for DBT).
Keep in mind that 4.3 has a very, very annoying issue with Android leeching battery. I never had issues before updating to 4.4.2. Factory reset helped a bit, but not much. Ever so often Media Server prevents deep sleep.
The SD Card doesn't have problems, the lazy app developers have a problem. Google updated security policies (remember how people are always whining about security? This is the result. Blame them.) and now the devs have to alter one tiny permission in their apps and it works. But a lot of them can't be bothered.
If you are happy on 4.3, don't update.
I think to stay on 4.3 and wait for another update

You either update to 4.4.2, or don't update.
4.4.3 would be too long away. Once Google releases 4.4.3, it would take months for Samsung to update, if they feel like it.

4.4.2 Firmware

Hey guys.
Had some great advice in some of my other questions and I thank everyone who posted. Everything always helps.
Just before I do this, as I've been informed that you can't go back to 4.3 after updating bootloader to 4.4.2.
Which would be the latest 4.4.2 firmware I should flash for N9005 in Australia? I then want to flash custom roms like Xnote etc. Knox will be triggered after I flash a custom recovery am I right?
Thanks guys. As far as I can see NC3 is the latest.

Oh cool. That's fine then. All these have open MSCs right? So I could technically use it stock? There will be an English option? I mean if it's all on there I don't know why Samsung doesn't release it at a faster rate, ir more at once... If indeed it works fine. I'll probably change straight away to a custom rom but still, it'd be nice to see what vanilla kit kit is like.

I can't say I have ever heard of anyone messing up the installation process before. It's load the apk to your SD card, install it to your phone and then tapping the install button once you open it. That's it.
As long as your root method installs busybox and your SU app disables Knox, you should be fine.

Trying to load a custom recovery on a locked bootloader could mess up your phone. Safestrap was made for our phones. Read up a bit you'll see we can't do normal custom recoveries and we can't flash normal roms cause we're locked. Only thing we can do is root and safe strap. I'll suggest odin nb1 update to nc1 root. The reason I say odin to nb1 is because right now you don't have a recovery at all due to you trying to install cwm or twrp.

Do you have an AT&T S4? If so then no. It will not load if you try. Until someone figures how to crack the locked bootloader, we are stuck with ROMs that use stock Samsung (you'll also hear them referred to as TouchWiz or TW) kernels. I believe CM uses their own custom one.
I am able to use the Google Edition one because a user modified it to work on aTouchWiz kernel, and even then things like USB file transfer does not work.
I do not believe anyone has done the same for CM.

Yes I have the at& t s4. And that sucks I was really looking forward to flashing cm 11s. I don't care for the knox being ticked off being that I'm on no contract. Won't this look the bootloader cause I read downgrades are practically unsafe on this device. If not than I'd much rather go back to 4.2 so I can load a custom recovery being that u don't mind tripping knox. So long that it doesn't Brick or render the phone use less

Odining back to NB1 will not trip Knox. Also, I believe downgrading to 4.2 will not touch your bootloader, if it were that easy we'd all be rocking CM.
You could run this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2767026
Its technically not a TW ROM, but it has its quirks. It was never intended to work on locked bootloader phones, but it has been retrofitted on to them.
Wrote this if you would like a guide on how I got 4.4.4 version up and running, it's kind of tricky.

Nb1 and nc1 are the same. Nb1 is just a small update over nb1, there isn't even a tar file for nc1 because it's such a small update. You won't be able to odin back to anything prior to nb1 unfortunately without bricking. Now I do understand the hatred of touchwiz but once you're rooted you're able to delete a lot of the garbage bloatware put on by Samsung and AT&T. This makes the phone so much better along with super long battery life. I've been able to get 4.5 hours of on screen time and about 16 - 17 hours of off the plug time like this.
When deleting bloat you can easily Google and find lists of what people have deleted off their phones using titanium backup (amazing app, let's your freeze or delete what you don't want). Also one thing I found out which is dumb. Deleting Samsung hub breaks auto rotation (what one has to do with the other I'll never know) but you can download the file needed to fix that here

I've had my touchwized sgs4 for about 3 weeks now and can say I'm not as upset with it as I thought I would be. Let me know if you have any questions about certain things. I've found a lot of workarounds and little edits here and there to get my phone a lot closer to how I want it.

Ps: No one answered my question. If I don't care for tripping the bootloader being that I'm on no contract. Is their a way to trip the flash counter and get on a recovery? I don't care for Samsung security knox or their bootloader security.

Nope. Bootloader and knox are completely different. Knox will just give annoying messages once tripped. Bootloader without unlock we're pretty much dead in the water. There has been some talk about ways to possibly unlock the bootloader so it's definitely being worked on. I've also read that the black hat even (hackers convention) might have something promising. Also anything that is done on the s5 could very well apply to the s4. It's all just a matter of time

Sounds great that the s5 and s4 integrate . Also there's a bunch of stuff online which shows how to disable certain aspects of the bootloader using linux (Ubuntu) . Do you think that'll work. It's a huge risk.

If it hasn't been done to give us anything I wouldn't do it. Only thing we have right now is safestrap. Which is similar to a dual boot
