Is there any way to get the pie controls that used to be under "labs" in the stock browser options for the Note 2 (and probably other devices)? I am on a ROM (Beans) that has PIE controls, but those don't integrate into the browser like the "labs" "quick controls" option used to.
If not, are there other browsers that offer this option?
Or maybe there's some way to get the 4.3 browser on the Note 2 on the Note 3...

could you post a screenshot of what you are talking about i know what pie controls are but never hear of browser specific ones
Nope, default browser doesn't have it. You gotta add the AOSP browser.

The stock Froyo browser would still use the same Webkit as well!
Regards,
Dave
I cant use anything but the Dolphin browser... as all my bookmarked pgs are gesture opened... until someone comes up with the same thing for other browsers, I can't use anything else Too easy to go "flick flick" and open the exact pages I want...
However, I admit, pinch to zoom could be a little smoother on Dolphin HD....
I also have nice add ons which allow me to shake/flick to jump from tab to tab
just an FYI, the newest firmware (euro) fixes the lag of the stock browser. i was looking for the same thing too, pushing the stock browswer from my nexus didnt work. but now i dont need to do it.
In dolphin if I full screen/expand an embedded video the nav bar pops in and out in landscape, I gave firefox a shot but that won't even play embedded video (audio plays but no video) unless it is youtube.
So which broswer should I go with, or if you guys have a fix for the above issues, I'd prefer something with a lastpass addon but I can do without.
AOSP browser is still my favorite after using a couple alternatives
Chrome or stock are the best ones imho
AOSP is just soooo slow, chrome is still working fine but no plugins means I have to use lastpass to launch websites.
I was hoping there was something better but it seems like I'm SOL.
When I used Dolphin browser, I found it to be close to the stock browser, just more feature rich. I tried using Chrome, Firefox, and Skyfire, but found the stock browser to be more of a favorite. I did try a lil browser that was really good with functionality with no bells and whistles at all, Naked Browser. I liked it and it is Flash enabled. Still, I keep coming back to the stock browser.

I've found AOSP to be far slower than dolphin (jetpack didn't make much difference for me though) and just slower than chrome.

Not sure what you mean about the nav bar popping in and out as I've had no issues with dolphin, When you view embedded videos make sure to have jetpack turned off (if you have it installed)
Opera Beta
It's based on webkit and extremely smooth.

When I view embedded video fullscreen in landscape the navbar pops up then, goes away, then pops up, ad nauseum. This has been happening ever since I first installed dolphin (5+mos ago) and way before jetpack was ever installed.
They seem to have fixed it for youtube but try this http://t.co/5h7Hx3UPCP it's a bill maher whosay link, if you view it full screen landscape in dolphin you'll see what I'm talking about.
So a little testing:
AOSP - Runs fine but it doesn't expand to fill the screen once the navbar hides
Opera - Won't expand the video
Chrome - Runs fine but it doesn't expand to fill the screen once the navbar hides
Firefox - Audio plays but no video

Just tested that out, not seeing any issues with the navbar. Only thing I notice is the video gets cut off a bit in landscape

Not sure why it would behave differently from phone to phone unless maybe it is a CM/Dolphin issue, although I was running AOKP for a while and it had the same issue, not going to put a new ROM on my phone to check though
Here is a vid of what it is doing www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzNI2RReeJ8

To be honest, that makes it even more frustrating.
Just use AOSP browser and install ICS flash player apk so you can watch all your naughty flash videos with low hassle

Maybe it's just that one site? Or have you seen it on several sites???
would it be possible to do this as am sure we would all like a fully functioning flash player and other apps.
the main reason i ask is because if you log on to some sites that have a hd button on their content and ask you to download some *.exe that doesnt work on droid anyway, can be bypassed by opening mobile page and clicking on classic view on their page. veetle.com is one example. altho since jb this hasnt been possibe as flash only works over desktop view.
if you have an ics device aswell give this a try on veetle.com,
open in mobile view
click something to watch
click classic below whats on
click on the explore button
click on catagories (shows, entertainment etc)
click on something to watch
then you will be able to view in hd
then try it with your jellybean device it doesnt work.
Is Flash the only reason you want to use ICS? I'm using the AOSP browser on touchwiz, and it works perfectly fine with Flash.
Sure, anything can be done, as long as you don't mind sacrificing features and breaking other functionality. I suspect that you won't find many devs that would want to waste their time on such an endeavor, though.

thanks for the tip with aosp browser ill give it a shot but im using nova launcher and flash player is not the only reason i just like the ui and its mod capabilities
I have stock, up-to-date Android 4.2.2.
I am trying to figure out why use CM10.1 or any other custom ROM over up-to-date stock Android Rom.
Well, for me I use stock and faux kernel @1.9ghz and I'm fine with it
Custom Roms add more features thou, I used to run aokp on my n7 but I prefer stock
Sent from my Nexus 4 @1.944 GHz on Stock 4.2.2
Mainly for the customization, and certain features not found in stock roms.
It's an user preference really.

thank you for the responses.
Like the idea of faux kernel with Stock rom.
Also for some more optimization, and little fixes of things that Google f**ked up in their stock Android

Here are the main features that are interesting to me:
- Built-in notification light control
- SMS bonus features (quick reply, original timestamps, etc)
- Volume rocker wake
- Navring (2 other shortcuts besides google now)
- Their cLock widget is nice
- Editable toggles / quick settings + quick pulldown (pulldown from right goes directly into toggles) LOVE IT
- Torch built in..
Downsides:
- The slide up animation of google now is not as smooth and sexy
- Old calendar app (WHY U NO REMOVE IT, it's on the play store!!) though it's practically the same

The source for the Play version isn't open though, so they build from the source that is available (i.e. the current CM calendar) and I their ultimate goal is to include what you need to operate a smart phone without absolutely requiring the addition of Gapps; although 99.999% of people ultimately do.

Yea probably the same reason why there is the "stock/modded" ICS browser (I know some people prefer it). They don't want preinstalled store apps in the rom, and such things as browser and calendar are basic features expected cooked in a ROM. PA does that though and it works well I think with no legal issue.
After trying several roms,I can say the top feature of nexus is the stock android and being uptodate instantaneous ,
So why you install a custom rom ? Sure it will not be stable as stock.
Customization can be dne through apk,I use
Exdialer.
Nova launcher
Sliding messages.
Tasker
Active screen lock , sometimes
Proximity screen off
Power toggle

Out of curiosity, what does the S4 stock browser do that is different and/or better than Chrome? The stock browser on the S3 didn't seem to do anything different than Chrome from what I could tell. Not sure if that is different on S4 as I skipped that one.

It plays embedded youtube videos without problem. Some on chrome have audio problems, either no audio or it comes out of the ear speaker instead of the rear. That's one thing I can think of that's better

Stock S4 Browser for S5
Well I like the ability to scroll through pages using the sensors like on the s4. I have enabled the hidden features that they have blocked on the s5 with Any Cut. I have shortcuts for Air gestures, Air view, Air wake up, Android beam, Motion settings, Smart Scroll, Download booster and Notification Access. Chrome is ok but I would like to side load the Stock Browser APK. Any help is well appreciated. Thank you
Chrome doesn't support Flash Player. Some web pages still use it, and it's annoying when I get a pop up saying I can't view something.
