[Request] Is it possible to port ics to i9505 and variants - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

would it be possible to do this as am sure we would all like a fully functioning flash player and other apps.
the main reason i ask is because if you log on to some sites that have a hd button on their content and ask you to download some *.exe that doesnt work on droid anyway, can be bypassed by opening mobile page and clicking on classic view on their page. veetle.com is one example. altho since jb this hasnt been possibe as flash only works over desktop view.
if you have an ics device aswell give this a try on veetle.com,
open in mobile view
click something to watch
click classic below whats on
click on the explore button
click on catagories (shows, entertainment etc)
click on something to watch
then you will be able to view in hd
then try it with your jellybean device it doesnt work.

Is Flash the only reason you want to use ICS? I'm using the AOSP browser on touchwiz, and it works perfectly fine with Flash.

Sure, anything can be done, as long as you don't mind sacrificing features and breaking other functionality. I suspect that you won't find many devs that would want to waste their time on such an endeavor, though.

What Browser are you using?

I have love the A7, however, I am noticing that on many websites, I am not pulling up all of the pictures, or some of the buttons to click on are not visible. I updated Adobe Flash to 10.2 and that still did not help. What are others using for browsing?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
I'm using Dolphin HD. It displays really well and I find that it gives a good browsing experience, with gestures and a lot of add ons if you want them. Not the leanest browser around, but one of the nicest, IMHO.
Opera and Firefox 4 for Android got rated the best...
Regards
Thanks for the responses, I will check them out....
if you want working flash w/out restrictions for using an android device you should install skyfire. its been providing folks w flash for android before adobe. works great for the misses farmville. at most, you may have to click on a flash icon before the flash content initially shows, but it seems to work great. its also got a convenient button in the browser bar to toggle between "mobile" or "desktop" mode browsing, to tell those pesky websites that want to show or restrict your "mobile content" that you're using a desktop.

I tried Firefox 4 last night and it seemed to drag my system to a standstill. When I killed they app, everything returned to normal.
Sticking with Dolphin for now, although I have switched from Chrome to FF4 on my laptop.

wizz bar doesn't work on ICS now. ....

I always use Wizz Bar, but now it won't work once I updated to ICS. Now I'm sad I updated. Anyone know how to get it working?
could not find it on play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=SnowBEE
is the developer probably ask them if they are working on a android 4 version?
they are also on here SnowBEE
re: wizzbar
That was one of my biggest disappointments with ICS on the a500 but after discovering Nova Launcher where I can customize launch icons on the bottom... it's similar without being able to hide the icons but I find it to be a great substitute. Might give it a whirl. works great on my tab running flexreaper
Unfortunately, the ICS is currently common, application compatibility is not due to different OS. I agree, sad as the refusal of applications for Android 4.0.3.
Has anyone come across an alternative to Wizz Bar?
I do miss this App on my Tablet.
GMD gesture control.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontrol&hl=en
it has a "launchpad" feature which does exactly what you're asking for. you can assign whatever gesture you want to bring it up.
Unfortunately it requires root, sadly which my work would not allow to happen.

I'm a huge fan of GMD Gesture Control but App Clip and ReLaunch can replace Gesture Control's LaunchPad feature really well. I don't think they require root but I'm not 100% sure..
It really sucks that Wizz Bar isn't going to be updated for ICS, but I'm running the TegraOwners ROM and can 'pin' apps to the combined bar anyway, which I think is a great approach to this problem and something I hoped would be possible while I was still watching YouTube videos trying to decide on a tablet to buy.. Hopefully one of these guys over on xda can get the same feature working eventually

Wave launcher is somewhat similwr. Not exact, but it's really good. Even better on phones than tablets.

CM10 and Flash Player

Hi guys,
I'm still having issues about flash player and my Milestone 2 with CM10 from tezet and as all you know it doesn't come with flash player with it.
I've tried many .APK found in this forum (M2), xda and out there, some of the files tested with:
Adobe_Flash_Player_11.1.111.10_4.0+.apk
com.adobe.flashplayer-2.apk
install_flash_player_ics.apk
I use stock browser, pages with flash content load partially and... stop responding, so browser asks to close it or wait.
I'm using default clock settings, no mods in this room, no scripts... noting at all.
And I thought that a threat, ONLY about this "issue" could be really helpful, especially if there is a solution. But if a moderator thinks this post is just "another one" or flood, no problem, but I really couldn't get it to work.

Have you tried with Dolphin or Firefox? I have no problems with flash with these two browsers or three stock browser. If it is allowed, I could send you a backup of flash player I'm using.
Best regards

Thanks cruizgaray, Firefox stops responding and dolphin performance is like a slide presentation.
If u could send your working version, would be great, I'd appreciate it a lot, and many users I guess...

tnx L3ibnitZ, but it didn't work...
and also thank you cruizgaray, but it also didn't worked...
Firefox crashes, default browser too... dolphin show portraits of videos on youtube, but when u hit it to play, all of them says that video is not for my device.
Any device? Manually delete some files an try installing again?
Since ICS Adobe does not support Flash for android. All apps load videos in HTML5. I use CM10 and watch videos from Youtube and IMDB. If you're using DoidWall, check Media Server app to be able to see videos. Post results. Good luck!
tnx bro

thanks man, I got videos working from you tube app but I really miss the flash games/content directly from browser, like in a PC. But thanks Da_Hora.
PS. I tough adobe discontinued support for flash from JB and on... I know HTML5 is really capable of all eye candy, but flash still has it's dominance for now...

[Q] problem with flash video on nexus 7

Hi I recently got a nexus 7 and I followed the instructions I have seen here on how to install flash on my nexus 7. It works but my problem is when I watch streaming flash video on say sockshare or putlocker for example the video does not continue to buffer when I pause, so flash video is unwatchable at the moment because when playing the video stops to buffer every 5 seconds. I'm using Firefox beta as my browser. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a way to fix it
Which tutorial did you follow to get this working? I tried a tutorial from YouTube but it didn't work.
Can you explain real quick the steps you took to install flash and your ROM please?

btw, adobe and flash dont support jelly bean or the newest devices. flash isnt made for it. so whatever bugs exist in flash running jelly bean, wont be fixed by adobe. that said, ive found that flash runs best on the aosp android browser, not quite perfect, but not bad.

Does the hulu site in desktop mode allow you to view their videos with the AOSP browser? As I understand that's a root only browser, correct? If so, I wasn't interested in rooting before but this might make me start working on it. I dislike that I pay for Hulu+ but can't view the same content as on my PC when I'm on my PS3, and now my tablet.

just tried it and it didn't work. you can get the actual hulu page rather than the hulu+ advertisement but videos won't play.
I sideloaded the latest flash apk and it works for me in the Firefox beta. I haven't tried any other browsers yet. I think firefox beta has it set by default to click for flash to play instead of letting it play automatically.
I'm using CM10.1 Nightlies as my Rom.
Here is a link to the latest from the adobe site.

FYI, here's my setup:
Rrunning 4.1.2 stock factory Rom at the moment, unlocked & rooted - turned off/disabled/hide Chrome Browser. D/L & install "Boat Browser" from Market (support Flash) used by some of the custom Rom & d/l Flash 11.1.115.17 from links here on XDA (or from Adobe's website). Boot into Recovery, wipe cache & reboot OS.
Launch Boat Browser, go into Settings (3 dots bar on bottom right) and go to "Page Content Settings" - scroll down if necessary, change "Enable Flash/Plug-ins" to Always on (or "On demand") - Enable JavaScript should be On by default. Changed "Set as default browser" to On as necessary. Exit & restart Browser - you should not have to reboot N7 again and check your ability to open/view most Flash-based videos, mine is working as it should be - no longer shuttting off or getting the error msg/device not supported, yada yada.
As for playback of most stored or d/l videos on the N7 - I liked & used "Mobo" player - free from the Market.
Profit - now, there's a lot more to watch streaming on the N7 besides Youtube & CNN video clips. Questions or more issues, please post & will try to help - not new to Android but still on a learning curve with the N7. Good luck as it should work even for those running near stock setup.
OK what I don't understand is with my desktop if I'm watching a streaming video and it is taking a while to load I will pause it and go do something else while it loads and come back when enough of it is loaded to watch uninterrupted. With my nexus 7 that I just got when I pause the videos don't continue to load. therefore when I try to watch a streaming movie it stops to continue to load every couple of seconds and it makes watching a streaming movie unwatchable. Does anyone else have this problem or a solution to it

[Q] Why use CM 10.1 on Nexus 4 over stock rom?

I have stock, up-to-date Android 4.2.2.
I am trying to figure out why use CM10.1 or any other custom ROM over up-to-date stock Android Rom.
Well, for me I use stock and faux kernel @1.9ghz and I'm fine with it
Custom Roms add more features thou, I used to run aokp on my n7 but I prefer stock
Sent from my Nexus 4 @1.944 GHz on Stock 4.2.2
Mainly for the customization, and certain features not found in stock roms.
It's an user preference really.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium HD app
thank you for the responses.
Like the idea of faux kernel with Stock rom.
Also for some more optimization, and little fixes of things that Google f**ked up in their stock Android
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Here are the main features that are interesting to me:
- Built-in notification light control
- SMS bonus features (quick reply, original timestamps, etc)
- Volume rocker wake
- Navring (2 other shortcuts besides google now)
- Their cLock widget is nice
- Editable toggles / quick settings + quick pulldown (pulldown from right goes directly into toggles) LOVE IT
- Torch built in..
Downsides:
- The slide up animation of google now is not as smooth and sexy
- Old calendar app (WHY U NO REMOVE IT, it's on the play store!!) though it's practically the same

The source for the Play version isn't open though, so they build from the source that is available (i.e. the current CM calendar) and I their ultimate goal is to include what you need to operate a smart phone without absolutely requiring the addition of Gapps; although 99.999% of people ultimately do.

Yea probably the same reason why there is the "stock/modded" ICS browser (I know some people prefer it). They don't want preinstalled store apps in the rom, and such things as browser and calendar are basic features expected cooked in a ROM. PA does that though and it works well I think with no legal issue.
After trying several roms,I can say the top feature of nexus is the stock android and being uptodate instantaneous ,
So why you install a custom rom ? Sure it will not be stable as stock.
Customization can be dne through apk,I use
Exdialer.
Nova launcher
Sliding messages.
Tasker
Active screen lock , sometimes
Proximity screen off
Power toggle
