In short, Can someone post knps of droidfish app chess (initial board position)? Does it pass 1000knps mark? (old Quallcomm cpus were stuck on 500-600knps...)

I´d like to know this as well!

I gave it a go and only got around 550 with a 620 high.
I put my phone in flight mode and rebooted it, waited 5mins and then ran the test again, I got the same results. It looks like it is being throttled.
Threads set to 4 btw

Thanks. I expected this although hoped for a "fix" by Quallcom to get around impressive 1000 which note 3 exynos does. Maybe in the next cpu generation...

The Processor in the X1

Coming from the Rokr E6(that came out in 2006) that has a intel PXA270 Rev7(v51) processor, a part from the built Ati graphic chip in the Qualcomm I am very dissapointed. I know the the processors are different but come on, The E6 was clocked at 312MHZ and could be boosted to 530MHZ and 624MHZ and was a single core processor. Today I got real excited because I found this app called nueCPL-ClockSpeed v1.3 thinking finally I will be able to this push Duel core Processor higher than a measley 528mhz.Sadly, come to find out the app limit to push the processor was only 528mhz. I posted a screen shot to show. Does anybody that knows the ins and outs of the Qualcomm MSM2700, know if it can be pushed higher than 528MHZ and would be so kind enough to list the apps that can do it.
After searching this forum for some type of answer, I came to the conclusion that I'm never buying a phone with a qualcomm processor again.

lol, you aren't the first person to express disappointment with qualcomm.
It's not a bad processor, but for our smartphones (which the average XDA member probably requires a lot of CPU power) it is a little weak. I think the average Joe with a stock WinMo phone would be fine with it, but I must admit I am underwhelmed.
I want Snapdragon in my next phone.
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=cpu&id=a7200a&c=qualcomm_msm7200a
on this site you have mostly all smartphones and their processors. and its said that 528Mhz is the Max recomendable speed so i gues its not possible to set it to more then 528MHz. but if you look at devices with these processor X1 was one of the first that used this processor. and even this year there were good phones that used this 2 year old processor technology (HTC Touch Pro 2, HTC HERO). Shure its no 1 or 1.5 GHz Snapdragon but i think its a fine processor. N97 has weaker processor and alot of folks think N97 is better than X1 (I still dont agree with them).

thank you for the link, it's not a bad processor but it's defiantly to weak to run WM, My phone freezes everyday which is freakin ridicouls I've never had this problem with my old phone which had a far less superior processor, then again my old phone ran linux and I'm using the original rom that came with the phone but still thats no excuse for having to reset my phone every day and even running the latest thigs to improve perfomance like advace config etc.....
Hi guys, i think most of you have heard the rumor about the X1 CPU is underclocked to 400MHz.
Is it true or not? I found something about the battery status app showing only 400MHz, but someone said that 400MHz is the max frequency battery status can show. Then i found something with the Xperia X2 info tool (dont know the name) showing 400MHz, too.
I downloaded nueClockControl, it shows 528MHz.

The frequency IS 528MHz. Try the JBenchmark estimator if you don't believe nueClockControl:
http://www.jbenchmark.com/jbacepr.jsp Mine shows 515MHz estimated.
Some MSM chips can be overclocked. I have had my TP run at 800Mhz before.
Check THIS out.
Pretty sure it won't work with the X1 but who knows.
dwizzy130
Unfortunalety it's not working with X1 (stock german ROM). The phone freezes instantly when i confirm the Clock change to 768 MHz.
I was a little disappointed of the X1, when i tried to run Super Mario or Mario Kart on SNES Emu (not to mention Metal Slug 2 @ FinalBurn, it's even worse). I thought this would be working better with more than 500Mhz and 256mb RAM. I hate to play games without sound.
I wish it would be as good as a PSP at 222 MHz. Ok, PSP has only 480x272, but also it has only 32mb RAM and only 2mb RAM for GPU.

I feel your pain. Add me to those who are disappointed with the Qualcomm 7200 and will not buy another WinMo phone without a 1 GHz processor. Otherwise, here are some confirmations and other observations:
- The current X1 processor DOES run at 528 MHz as others have mentioned above
- It CAN be overclocked to 768 (or so) with neuOverclock and it's like a sweet dream, but...
- neuOverclock is highly unstable. Most of the time it simply freezes the phone, requiring a reset. For some reason I could only usually get it to work about once a day, no matter how many variations I tried (eg in airplane mode etc etc).
- Unfortunately the genius (seriously) who developed nueOverclock has gone completely silent on his web site and is not still developing - huge bummer in my opinion. I would make a big donation to anyone who could provide a solid overclocking program, and I bet I'm not the only one.

Go for it! Tell him I got $20 in my pocket I'm ready to part with!
If someone could really develop a stable overclocking tool, i would pay for that too.
I'd like to buy a HD2, but without a contract(subscription) it costs over 650€ here in Germany.
Even with subscription it costs 220€ + 35€/Month for 2 years.
I can only dream of 1GHz Snapdragon and 4.3 inch screen
PS: I bought my Xperia for 280€ (with 8GB Micro SD) from Ebay in September.
The previous owner paid 720€ (without subscription) at release ...
PPS: Iphone 3GS 32GB is about 850€ without subscription, thats kind of weird
Damn.. I was rlle excited to see some people as frustrated as me with quads performance and were looking for ways to improve it but the fact nueOverclock just freezes is a letdown also. I hope someone can find the creator or another usefull method!! let the search begin!

Ye me also thinks it's all about drivers and implementation, offloading more onto GPU. When drivers suck, performance sucks too, jerky scrolling and so on... but the youtube videos suggest it's insanely smooth
Nope no dualcore.

Yea. It's probably because it's got a new GPU.
Or.. We think there is a new GPU.
This is really impressive. I don't know if it is full boot (or maybe something like hibernation on PC) but it still looks amazing!
Seen the Engadget post a while ago. Wish I had waited a while before upgrading ;(
Helloooooo to my next phone
Im really pleased we have a HTC with qwerty and android finally, was a bit dissapointed that I only saw it available as the G2 yesterday but looked today and theres the press announcement
Wow! Been thinking about ditching my blackberry bold for the torch, but I think I'll get this instead.
Bit of a WM fan but android looks good, still loads of apps/hacking etc.
Oh please god i hope Orange get this (or O2)
Upgrade due in October. Yay!
Qualcomm says 7X30 uses the same Scorpion core, so it's probably underclocked, meaning we could setcpu it back up to 1ghz.

Well for me if it's fast enough no need to overclock it and there must be a reason to be underclocked so don't really mind..im really curious about the new display, don't really see the point to push a phone to it's limits just to see the numbers ) my nexus that i teribly love it just works fine and snapier than ever,i will change it in favor of keyboard but i'm still thinking of keeping it rather than sell it and buy the z...Good phone!
Edit:Anyone have any ideea the multitouch is it better?i realy want a better multitouch since new games are developed for android like "nova, sandstorm etc etc" wich are super cool games but the crappy multitouch on my nexus make them difficult to play.
looks frickin awesome. kind of makes me happy that i couldn't afford an unsubsidized Nexus One xD
It seems to take much longer to boot in another video.

Can they remove battery and then put it back and do the test?
Someone said it boots so quick because it doesn't actually boot - it resumes from hibernation. So removing the battery will have no change I don't think. But a full reboot will still be slow.
So it begs the question - what is the point of this fast resume anyway? Who puts their phones in hibernation...

I think it's you when you power off you actually do hibernate without knowing and then it boots in 2 secs, so it makes sense... In such case, an actual reboot would take longer than shutdown and bootup.
When you install new application and it asks you to reboot, then it might take longer than 2 secs.. if reboot also takes 2 secs then it would be even more impressive!

[Q] Benchmark extremely low?

No matter how i try i usually get 12k on AnTuTu
my highest was 14k
Im lower than HoX and in the chart Nexus 4 shows 18k...
Anyone knows why mine is that much lower?
Is this a defect or what?
Some guy says ignore it benchmarks mean nothing but its not like im just a little bit lower...
It is 4-6k difference :S
Isn't that strange considering other people with the same device score 18k?

Is your phone laging, running slower other then the benchmarks? Also we need more info like what kernel/rom are you running.
What ROM/kernel are you running, what temperature was your phone at? Is there any apps running in background?
If a freshly installed stock ROM, with only AnTuTu installed, and you score 30% less than other Nexus 4 in benchmarking, then yes, there is a reason to worry about
Edit: for the record, I tried AnTuTu when I just got my N4, and always scored lower than their reference N4.
Sent from my Nexus 4 in a Faraday cage
I tried on these setups:
Stock with stock kernel
Stock with faux kernel
AOKP with included kernel
i just tried again with a fresh install of stock and scored 14,5k
well its still 3,5k difference what can I do about that any idea?
edit: basically what im worried about is that the only scores i see around my score are people with severely underclocked devices (600 MHz, 700 MHz)
seems like im the only one :S

Even Chainfire makes benchmark app. I would love to see how you tell Chainfire that his app means nothing. That would make a really interesting conversation with lots of good stuffs to learn
From my point of view, benchmark does not tell real world performance, however it is a wildly used, totally valid tool to compare *hardware* performance. After all, benchmarking (or hardware profilling, to be precise) is what separate a 1.2GHz CPU from a 1.5GHz CPU of identical architecture, isn't it? I'll take the 1.5GHz one even if it means nothing from your point of view
Sent from my Nexus 4 in a Faraday cage
I always get around mid to high 17k, sometimes 18... bone stock... Your situation is interesting to say the least...
I see the note II with 24k despite the fact it has quad A9s... This is why you should ignore the benchmarks.

Sounds like you may be thermal throttling. As a test, out your phone in a zip lock bag in the freezer for 10 minutes and then repeat the benchmark.

It's not hard to setup PC streaming at all. Just make sure you have the latest download of system updates for your shield (mine wouldn't let me do it for hours after receiving it), then make sure your GeForce Experiece has a tick mark for Beta drivers to be installed.
Once you tell it to stream it will pop up for a prompt 1 time to ask if it is ok to join and you are done! GAME ON!

Buuuut I only got a 14k in quadrant. Which is less than my friends stock SGS4. Lol
Linpack multi thread scores suck. Getting around 100Mflops But I'm thinking the 5th core is possibly the cause for that?

SGS4 it turns out may have some trickery under the hood to optimise specifically for these benchmark tests though giving a totally false impression. How or why samsung would do such a thing is beyond me though.
The 5th core on the tegra chip is only enabled when the 4 main cores shut down, its for power saving. Used in sleep mode primarily, but it is possible for the phone.tablet or even shield to fire up and navigate around the UI on the companion core alone. Its not intended as a fully fledged core. Might impact on benchmarks, might not, I never benchmarked my nexus 7 (which is broken now) and don't have any other tegra device to benchmark, or much else to compare the benchmark with actually.
I like using MAME to test how good the CPU function is, since besides pushing light to the display, the GPU does about nothing with MAME. A good game to test is Dead or Alive + (the zip is doapp.zip and needs tps.zip for bios). That game plays slow on all current chips, but plays the least slow on the 4470 and Snap 600. It would be nice to see if plays smooth on the Shield. I doubt it will, but IF the Tegra 4 is truly a major increase for CPU power, it should be a step above current chips.
The reason MAME does not use the GPU is all arcade games used special 3D hardware, or derivatives of chips that are not practival to emulate. In summary, it is all CPU, baby- including the newest PC version.

This is very common in the GPU industry. I don't really know in the mobile space (I'm not willing to make any of my code treat a benchmark differently).
I have no idea why I scored so low, as it even told me I scored poorly against other users benchmarks for the same device.

This phone is a scam.

I bought this phone because of the quad core 1.9Ghz processor, but as a matter of fact, this phone is a quad core 19ghz processor only for 5 or so minutes at a time, then it's just a 1.2Ghz quad core processor.
I don't know what's the reason for this, but I suspect overheating or Scamsung being shady and still cheating the benchmarks.
Anyway, try this: download Antutu Benchmark (or any other benchmark really) and run a full test: if the phone is "fresh" you'll get 29000 or so points. Good. Now run it again, you'll get less, and if you run it again, you'll get even less.
What do you think is the reason for this? This phone is unable to keep it's maximum frequency for more than 5 minutes at a time, and so it underclocks itself to 1.2Ghz (check it with CPU Z or anything, it will never go to 1.9 ever again after you get the lowered score in Antutu) and stays there for hours before it goes back to 1.9 again.
Check out these screenshots, and look at the time I ran the benchmarks. It only took 3 minutes to go from 29000 to 26000, then I ran it 2 more times and it went as low as 22000 with massive performance losses in 3D graphics (OpenGL test runs at around 30-40fps the first time then 15-24, basically half speed).
If this isn't a scam I don't know what it is. They should have advertised this as having a quad core mode for 5 minutes every now and then, or being a real quad core only in winter, because as a matter of fact it runs like a mid tier dual core most of the time. No wonder the UI lags like crazy all the time after you browse the internet a while or play a 3D game.

Really now. I need to try this, because right now I'm MAD. I had a similar problem with the Xperia S that happened only when playing and charging at the same time, and you can't believe how angry I was at that.
Since I bought the phone just recently and it was already on KitKat, and I did some googling for i9505 and overheating and all sorts of related keywords and found nothing, I expected this behavior to be pretty much undiscovered. I'll try the exposed module and report back.
Anyway, since you need root, and mods, the phone is still a scam because the average user wil NEVER EVER figure this out on his own. It's advertised as a 1.9Ghz quad core when in reality it never runs at that speed.
I confirm that it was caused by the DVFS. What were they thinking when they implemented such a thing on the phone?
Facepalm.

1.9 ghz is it's max speed which it does achieve for first few minutes when a game runs and hence it is not a scam. No mobile processor runs at it's max frequency 24/7 or else you would have to keep charging the phone every hour and the phone would probably die in a day due to overheating -_-
Samsung did this to increase battery life but the move backfired
The only way you can do something about is by rooting the mobile which infact will void ur warranty.
Press the thanks button if helped you

It should run max speed when needed, of course it won't run at full speed all the times, but if it runs at 1200mhz when I'm running a game or the browser and it's lagging like crazy then there's a problem.
I already rooted, voided my warranty, tripped my know, and fixed this issue with the xposed module the other user recommended.
Bottom line, unless you void your warranty and install user made mods this phone is a scam, because as soon as it get slightly warm it underclocks like crazy causing lag and horrible performances. There should be lawsuits up the ass about this. Users shouldn't accept having their phone arbitrarily underclocked for no reason like this.
What a retard.

You bought a 500 bucks, flagship, quad core, 1080p, multimedia focused smartphone to use as a "phone"? Maybe a Nokia 3310 and a deck of cards would have been a better investment for you.

I have decrease the cpu speed to 20 Mhz with success and my battery last more than expected with my old 3310.
I am happy.

PS: I paid 600 Euros not 500 bucks that's a difference!!!!!!
Just stop fighting. Everyone uses his mobile differently and has different needs/expectations -_-
