go back to stock everything - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have a galaxy s4 i9505ZHUDMI1 (not sure where ZHUD is from, china maybe?? cant find the origin anywhere online)
i have TWRP, i had flashed it to WanamLite rom , but things didnt work great, many problems, then i switched back to a backup of my original stock rom, but some things didnt work like whatsapp and this podcast app, things just messed up. i did a factory reset, still weird stuff going on.
how can i go back to a stock loader and stock rom, anyone know a page where they keep stock software around????

Get a 4.4.2 stock ROM for your region from sammobile.com and flash it via Odin.

Go to SamMobile.com, sig in and select your model and zone code (CSC). In your case is Honk Kong (TGY).

ok great i downloaded the stock rom!! i havent tried it yet it's a little late, do you guys think its better to just keep the TWRP bootloader or try to go back to the stock bootloader?

I dont understand what you mean. You are mixing btw bootloader and recovery. I recommend u flash TWRP (coz you are using android 4.2.2 and you dont have KNOX) for flash CUSTOM ROMS in the future if your wish :highfive:

You are confused between bootloader and recovery.
Twrp is a custom recovery and you don't really need to go back to stock.

[Q] Flashing ICS Custom ROM.

Ok, I have LC1 installed and i wanna try Stunner ICS ROM. The problem is, that how can i back up my phone so that all my apps and games back up, and the progress in the games back up? If this isn't possible then ill just have to wait for the official one from Samsung... Thanks for the help!
Are you rooted? Use Titanium Backup to backup all your apps and data (don't do system though)
Yeah thats the problem here, that I am not rooted and i cant figure out how to back up my apps so that everything remains as before flashing, because i have to downgrade first because LC1 isnt directly rootable.

So root your rom (with CF-Root kernel for example) and backup all that you need. That's the problem? You can always reset your flash counter and remove yellow triangle with app - Triangle Away. Or buy jig and do the same.
I mean that how do i back up my apps when im non-rooted on LC1. Sorry for all of this confusion... I just wanna be sure because i dont wanna lose all of my 200 apps. Thanks!
EDIT: Nothing anymore. Figured it out.

GT-I9505 Post custom rom problems. Want stock back!!

So here i am with a brand new GS4 GT-I9505 and i thought it would be clever to do what i did with my GS2 and root and flash a custom rom to it (Cyanogenmod 10.1 through TWRP)
Clever me forgot to back it up !!!NOOB!!! (but thats beside the point)
Now im stuck with this rom with wifi doesnt work or mobile data and a host of other problems (Such as every time i turn the device off i have to reset the time and date!)
I have looked on the net for weeks and cannot find a way to revert back to the original stock version of my phone as i wish to have this back with all of its features. Main problem being is that every video or text help that i find is for other versions of the phone. Really frustrating as i do not want to destroy/brick the phone.
Would appreciate if anyone could help me in restoring my phone to its original state/factory state. Am pulling my hair out over this. Im not new to this however step by step would be also appreciated
Details of the device:
Device - GT-I9505 (Orange/EE) Android 4.2.2
Cyanogenmod -10.1-20130509-UNOFFICAL-i9505
Custom Recovery - TWRP
Baseband Version - I9505XXUBMG7

Yes this will work no plm even if u have diffrnt baseband
for example u can flash any latest firmware which is available for any region without any issues "Not China" there some language is diffrnt if I m not wrng
But make sure its only for the variant u have like i9505 etc
Edit I always suggest take a back up of EFS of your device for safety

Installing a pre rooted ROM won't give you stock/factory state.
If you really want your Official EE ROM go to Sammobile and download it.
Download triangle away to reset flash counter and as soon as its reset boot to download mode and flash Official stock EE ROM. No root.

[Q] fix wifi etc after flashing 9005 ROM on N900?

Ok, so previously with my S4, if we flashed a I9505 ROM onto a I337or I337M S4, all we had to do was flash our device models custom or stock kernel and the wifi and everything that was borked was then fixed. This doesn't seem to be the case here.
And now I can't figure out for the life of me how to get back wifi after flashing a 9005 ROM on my N900!
I'm sure it's something super simple, and I;ve searched for the solution, but clearly I'm looking in the wrong place.
Any assistance would be met with a "Thanks" and some karma points

Ok well that blows out what I thought you'd done it.
Have you tried wiping after flashing the correct ROM? The "incorrect ROM" didn't include any modern files didn't (not that I'm sure CWM will flash them on this phone however)
Strange question, but is your camera still working? Recording etc... also, in device settings, does it list the correct IMEI number?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Yup, camera works with stock kernel that the rom came with, imei is fine.
Just can't figure out which files to flash to get wifi and other radios working

Did you try a factory reset? After backing up of course...
Might work....

[Q] Telstra S4 i9505 stock not working

Hi, so i've got a few problems going with my i9505 Telstra S4.
I flashed to 4.3 trying it out then went back to original stock rom 4.2.2 from sam mobile but it's not registering a simcard in the device
at all.I have flashed modem a few times and it picks it up for a bit then drops it again. When I go to reflash the new rom
I go and flash philz and completely data, cache and dalvik wipe the phone befor doing it but after wards when the phone is on the main screen
after putting in the info and plugging into a computer, it comes up with the same name as it did before for the device even though i changed it, not sure if that means anything.
Not sure where to go from here and sorry for the terrible grammar
You can't go back to 4.2.2 stock once you flashed the 4.3 stock rom. The reasons are related to the new bootloader.
I suggest you instead flash a 4.3 rom.. perhaps the BTU one.

You would need to flash the entire package. Please take the time to read up on this process... and make sure the phone you are flashing suits the firmware you flash. In this forum your will find clear instructions on how to flash 4.3 for the i9505 from Sammobile.

Not flashable. You have to use odin for this one..
It seems like a couple of threads have posted the STOCK file that anyone can download from the sammobile site. I guess I don't understand why this is needed since anyone can go to that site and download the file if they are just looking for the completely stock version.
Just wondering...

Sometimes it can be slow to download via sammobile /t-mobile. This is an alternative..
Shot I for one am happy there's mirrors. Took 2 hours to download from sammobile when it should of took like 10 minutes or less
Thank you for this thread... works a whole lot faster than sammobile link:thumbup::beer:

I just odin flased this file, and the strangest thing happened. My device wasn't wiped..... it dirty flashed lollipop over my existing kitkat install.... I though ODIN brought your device back to stock completely..... what am I missing here?
For now I am running a factory reset, then reflashing it via odin. But why did this happen?

When you flash an update in Odin it doesn't erase your internal storage so all your app, pictures, and videos will still be there. If you want to get rid of your files and apps just do a factory reset. It'll be a fresh new update with no downloaded apps, pictures, videos, and any other files you had before the update.

How is it running via dirty flash?
Mine was running fine.. but I don't like to dirty flash anyways
I wish someone would torrent this. I am having the worst luck downloading this from multiple people. Keep getting getting told 70-90% through the downloads I don't have access to download.

My dirty flash was super slow, and kept getting force kills. Now factory reset and on pure stock.. I've decided to keep life simple and forgoe rooting for now.... just disabling a lot of the bloat apps via the application manager. I don't have the time right now to try a bunch of ROM and tweak things... So far stock lollipop feels smooth and no issues so far.
