you cant restore a nandroid backup unless the following conditions are met
you are on the same kernel to which the backup was made on (unless you advance restore)
you are on the same file system to which the backup was made on

if you cant access odin mode then there is most likely a hardware fault with your phone
take to service center
if phone keeps restarting could be a power button fault
try putting it into odin mode with a usb jig instead else to take to service center if you dont have one (they are only a £3 off amazon)

[Q] Multiple SMS duplicates, Unmodified device.

Hey there!
My gf has a Samsung Galaxy Y and it suddenly started receiving multiple duplicates of every SMS sent to her.
The phone is completely unmodified and stock in every possible way.
3 days ago the phone was sent to phone shop for service and it seems they flashed it.
Today the phone was received and it still has the same problem.
Network operator claims they see no problems on their side..
What can i do?
Hmm unusual problem
Well I admit I don't know the reason y this is happening but I know flashing stock rom via Odin will help if it is a software defect
Hit thanks if I helped
No wait try a factory reset and see if that doesn't help then flash stock rom via odin

no installed apps and phonebook/sms/everything deleted..
i will try Odin as soon as i get my hands on the phone, any good tutorials for it?

u will need : odin downloader , usb driver for galaxy y, and stock rom u can get it here
-extract the file and you will get 4 file ( pda , csc , modem , readme)
-charge your phone till 80%
-turn off your phone
-go to download mode by Pressing Volume down + Home + Power for 5-10 sec and press volume up and you'll get to download mode
-connect your phone via usb cable
-open odin downloader, and browse for the pda , csc , modem file (leave pit and bootloader empty)
-and click start and wait til your phone boot

[Q] bricked s4

Hi I installed the root for my s 4 i9505 but i used the i9500 and now it is stuck on the kies thing. I was wondering if there was anything i could do and also if someone has the pit partition for the h3g stock rom i could try that way. Any help is appreciated.
Try to flash back your stock Rom with odin, should be fine.

i have tried that but it keeps on saying there is no pit partition. Do you know where i could get the pit file?
you don't need to get complicated. just download an official firmware that is Odin compatible, and then install in odin (open is as PDA).
before that, shut down the phone (keep power pressed). restart in download mode (volume down, menu then power), with cable plugged out. you will go to the download screen. connect the cable, start odin... and there you are... (at least this is what I did with mine when I got stacked to the kies screen)

good luck!
and maybe, if that does not work, an forced update via kies might still do the job....

How do i do a forced update via kies? Kies does not recognise my phone when i have it connected. Should i try connecting the usb to the back of the computer rather than the front?

I don't know exactly what that would do.
You cannot flash another kernel, as there is none yet.
You need to be in download mode for kies to recognize (volume down, home, power). It should work to do Emergency firmware recovery in Tools.
Anyway, I am quite sure that running from Odin works. Have you tried to follow the steps I mentioned?

No still at work finish in 20 mins. I have tried all that yesterday but Odin still kept on saying no partition thing and kies I did the emergency firmware recovery but it did not connect to the phone. I will try again but this time connect the usb to the back of the computer.
Do not flash with re-partition only in an EXTREME case !

what will it do if i do? as i am getting frustrated as then the phone will be a £600 paperweight
Repartition is supposedly going to wipe all data on your phone, but it's also a death button that makes you ODIN freeze and making your phone not boot up so proceed with extreme caution
It uses the .pit file to repartition the space the pit file holds how much to allocate to /system, /data. If you leave it blank and flash, it'll drop the files your flashing into the existing 'slots'. If you select the pit file and repartition, it'll reallocate.
Only select that if the instructions for your rom require you to do it.
Thanks it works. I put the usb lead at the back of my pc and installed the stock rom thanks for your help guys

Did you terminate Kies in windows task manager? Kies can cause Odin to fail!
Ups. No. I will try this right now

You should do firmware writes with a notebook or UPS, a power interruption while writing critical system files can cause all kinds of damage.
Unfortunately you didn't provide much detail for us to work with. Not even a screenshot or photograph of what you see on the screen of your phone now or the log from Odin or Kies. Even your thread title didn't convey any useful information.
Pull your phone battery. Then try to enter download mode by pressing and holding the volume down key, then the home key, then the power key. Then try to flash a full, stock firmware image and proper PIT file concurrently. If you run into any difficulties, give a detailed description of what you tried, the Odin log and a photo of the phone screen.
More than likely it's recoverable. Despite the lack of details in your post, your stumbling block is probably that you aren't using a PIT file to correct (likely) partition damage that occurred during your power interruption.

I resolved my problem. I just flashed the pit file only with repartition checked in Odin and after that my phone just came alive. No need to flash full firmware. Thanks for help to you and everyone!

Tried installing custom recovery didn't work out like I had hoped now im stuck with a phone that isn't detected by odin or kies but by MiFlash
Please tell me there is something I can do to fix it or get it to some sort of working order..? Is there a jtag tool or usb jig I can use?

What have you done to reach that state? I know that you're desperate but you must give some details if you want help.
It was given to me with 5.1.1 installed however it failed mid process and while on 5.1.1 it kept freezing and acting weird such as boot with weird errors and they only appeared after it was updated, I decided to root it with odin and it never fully rebooted after the was root applied. I finally got it to boot to stock and rooted and decided to install a custom recovery which was twrp while selecting the recovery it said if its a wrong location it will brick, with this in mind I checked the model with the one on their site and it seemed to make sense and applied it.
This caused the original problem which made it boot straight to download mode with it saying it could not normal boot. I then googled the problem and one said the pit was corrupted and downloaded the correct file. I then applied this through odin with stock firmware and it refuse to flash. At the time I was thinking a restart on the device would help, but it resulted in not booting at all and not being detected....
It does not light up or make a vibration when its connected or powered on if there is any solution it would be great...
Can anyone help or point in the right direction?

Can you tell us if you can get on recovery screen, either TRWP or stock, or download mode.
You could try installing these drivers:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24499762636000789
Reboot just in case and try to connect your device again.
(In download mode, with the key combination)

hard brick my galaxy s7 edge (exynos - international). help please!!!

i was using a custom rom in a normal way without any problem.
three days ago i made wipe cache + wipe dalvik (using the last twrp) and restarted the phone and now i am left with "Samsung galaxy s7 edge.. powered by android" screen... i can go in download mode... tried to flash previous and latest stock firmwares... but it fails on odin and again after automatic restart its coming back on same screen... i tried to download orignal firmware from smart switch... and get error message from smart switch after downloading all the contents... and its still same ... what could be the possible solution? Can anyone help? I am able to boot in recovery mode now... before i had twrp recovery... now even stock recovery is not there... i tried to flash twrp recovery from odin..but it fails...
I took it to repair to an official technical service and they told me the motherboard is dead but i have to pay 361 because its rooted.
they can see it in recovery mode, of course.
I will say i dont want my phone to be repaired in order to take it to a different technical service.
My question is...
what can i do so that the phone doesnt start? even in download mode,???
If they can not get into download mode they can not see the famous "VOID WARRANTY x01" and in this way they would have to repair it anyway.
thank you very much for your help

Have you tried a different version of Odin? That did the trick for me. If you can still get into download mode it isn't considered hard bricked.

yes of course.
different odin versions, different cables, different usb connectors, different computers...EVERYTHING!!!!
Try to erase everything in recovery. Go to download mode and try different roms ( try an older firmware). Get the latest odin. Maybe you should try to write with odin your PIT file...
