Upgraded to 4.3 but lost my sapphire theme - Xperia SP General

Hello I upgraded to 4.3 but I lost my 4.1 sapphire theme how do I get this theme back without screwing up my phone? The setting menu is all white now and its too bright for my eyes. I much prefer the sapphire theme.

You can download rom 4.3 with black menu and settings.
Sent from my C5303 using xda app-developers app

This white background is part of the new 4.3 design.
There are some custom themes you can install though. Most of them are there : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578796 . Unfortunately they are not as good as official sony themes. Maybe you can find more if you search in Xperia SP's, Xperia Z's and Xperia Z1's theme and app sections here in xda. Check that they are apk and for android 4.3, if so they shouldn't screw up your phone.
Another solution, as @KiaTheKing said, is to install a custom ROM modified to have black background. However, you must have a custom recovery for that. If you don't know what this is, you don't have one. If you are interested in having one, search in Xperia SP Development section you'll find all the information you need. But be aware that this might void your warranty and this is quite a big modification in your device's software. You have to know what you are doing, otherwise you might brick your device. With great power comes great responsibilities

Plain Android

Just got my Desire Z today & as much as i love it I hate sense. I'm using ADD.Launcher atm to try & hide it but I still get there crappy apps.
So my question is, which is the best ROM to flash my phone to get to Vanilla Android?
Thanks in advance

cyanogenmod rom... Its amazing... has probably the most support cause there are soo many users
Try Cyanogen. Check out the thread in the G2 dev forum, where there's loads of activity (the thread on the DZ side is pretty dead).
I've used Cyanogen before on my G1 & its good but it never felt like stock to me. Just wondering is it possible to flash the G2 Rom onto the Desire Z?

According to Cyanogen it's still not a totally stock build. But if you use gfree to get full radio S-OFF, you should be able to flash the G2 ROM. Do not try this with just S-OFF from the engineering hboot.

'Radio S-OFF' *confused look on face* I am very confused as to what you mean.
What is 'Radio S-OFF'? And what's 'engineering hboot'? Think I need to read up a bit more before I even consider rooting this device, if you could point me towards the best place to start I would be greatfull!
Edit:Spelling errors lol

I have not seen stock Android running, only with Sense on my Desire Z, and I've not been able to find a simple list of what specific features Sense has added over vanilla.
Could someone point me to somewhere which might tell me whether I might prefer vanillia Android, as I'd hate to switch to an otherwise better ROM only to find lots of features that I liked have suddenly vanished...

If you look through the dev forum, you will find lots of custom ROMs. There are some custom ROMs based on the stock G2 ROM, and you may want to try one of those our (or possibly more than one of those).
What you need to do is to get permanent root on your phone (I recommend using the "rage" method, documented in the dev forum). Then you need to get S-OFF (Security Off) so that you can flash unsigned (i.e. custom) ROM images.
Originally there was a sort-of S-OFF using an "engineering" version of the bootloader. This was ok but kinda risky. We now have a much safer method, described in the stickes on the dev forum, using a program called "gfree". It now is clear you haven't used the engineering hboot, so just forget I ever mentioned that lol.
What I recommend you do is read up on "rage" and the new "gfree" S-OFF, read some more, ask questions if you're not sure, then only finally once you're clear, go ahead and do those procedures. Before you try another one, install ROM Manager from the Market, use it to flash Clockwork Recovery (it's an option inside ROM Manager), and then use it to do a full backup of your ROM - so that will mean if you don't like the new ROM you can very easily restore to what you have now.

You'll lose all the HTC apps. So if you like any of them, maybe you won't like a stock Android ROM ?
Have a look at HTC's spec sheet on the DZ, which does list all their add-on apps and widgets too, that should give you an idea - http://www.htc.com/uk/product/desirez/specification.html
But you could always do a Nandroid backup of what you have now, flash a new ROM to try it, then you can easily go back if you don't like it.

This.
Also want to point out that HTC's enhancements go beyond the apps, rosie-launcher and the widgets...
The T9-based dialler is theirs, as is the camera, the deskclock (with world cities), the music player, etc...
Oh and lots of little things like the icons/black statusbar etc.
I generally don't like having to use Sense, but I wish Google would up their game with regards to the dialler and camera especially. They're just terrible at the moment (which is why Cyanogen went to the trouble of practically making his own camera app).
Hopefully for Honeycomb...

I have to say that I'm a Sense fan. I can't fault it over stock Android (aside from the slight performance overhead, which is a non-issue if you overclock).
Vanilla Android - awful camera, contacts, dialler, ugly as hell, launcher looks nice but is plain annoying cos it doesn't fling more than a few lines, you don't get the Sense weather animations which I think are awesome eyecandy for showing off your phone to other people, Sense widgets are all generally pretty, the list goes on...
But ultimately that is MY preference, and the awesome thing about Android is you can customise it to fit your preferences. Try vanilla out - you have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain

Quick question for you, Why do you recommend the 'rage' method over other methord's such as 'visionary'?
This topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857390&highlight=gfree talks about using 'gfree' & 'visionary' & seams like a very easy & straight forward way of gaining root access.
n/m: Kinda kept reading over topics & found that some people have been having problems with visionary with partitions etc. Ill pass on it just in case!
Well i followed your advice, read up on every thing & i am know running [ROM] NO SENSE: 11/Nov 1.22.531.8 r1 - HTC Vision (G2/Z) Stock & am loving it!
Thank you so much! I have stock Android XD <3

Yep, a lot of people seem to run Visionary and end up stuck in a boot loop or similar. I've never seen any problem like that with rage, the worst that seems to happen is it just doesn't work (but the phone is still fine), and that's usually because a command hasn't been typed in correctly or an error message came up and the user didn't realise it was important.

[Request] LG Optimus Rom or Theme with working widgets

Hi!
I have a question...
Is it possible to build a Rom from LG Optimus Speed (2X) System Dump? I love the design. Maybe a theme with all widget and so is also good.
The Problem is that the widgets not working when I install them via Astro File Manager...
System Dump: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931114
I dont know were the topic should be.
Wrong forum, should be in Q&A or Themes/Apps
Could Someone help me? I think an AOSP Rom with these Apk's is enough.
The apps will be designed to work with the framework of the device they come from so it would need re-writing to get it to work with the Desire. It'd take a lot of work
But maybe someone want to do this, because for nexus is a theme with Optimus style and there is a huge interesting.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
If nobody is interested to build a Rom, it is possible to build a Theme for a Rom like Oxygen or MIUI? There are many people who are interested in a Theme.

What to do next... help!

Okay, so after seeing some crazy stuff my uncle did with his HTC Galaxy Captivate like making his home screens 3D, or even getting 2.3.3 on his phone, I decided that I would test it out myself. Now I ain't no expert with phone so it took me 3 hrs of research to find out how to root the phone... and I finally did it. Now I want some cool stuff, otherwise it was all a waste.
First off, I need something to make my theme look 3D like the App SPB 3D Theme but I also want my interface(if that's what it is) or to change. For example, I want it to look more like the Nesus S rather then my touch. How do I go about doing this.
Any help would be appreciated..
Regina 3d is cool it will give you that 3d look (check the market) then just look for a nexus s theme for your phone. Hope this helps...
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I have tried to use Regina 3D, but there is a huge lag on the screen..
I'm assuming you've only just rooted and nothing else since you didn't specify otherwise, so sorry if this is stuff you already know/did.
First off, flash a custom recovery image. You'll need that in order to make complete backups of the device and to flash new firmwares. If you haven't got one, download ROM Manager from the market, press "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and confirm your device. This will install the latest CWM recovery image (right now it's 3.0.2.4)
If you want to get rid of HTC Sense framework and/or get gingerbread (Android 2.3.x), you'll need to flash a custom ROM. Check the threads in Development for that stuff.
Once you've got yourself a shiny new ROM, check out faux123's threads. He's got various kernels for different ROMs, and he provides a lower-voltage version that will perform the same but use less battery.
For customization related stuff, head over to the Themes and Apps section. There's all kinds of resources there for personalizing your phone's look and feel.
Thanks a lot. So I need to flash my ROM by doing the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. Then I download a custom ROM and install it using their instructions. Sounds easy enough

MIUI framework-res.apk in stock ROM, Possible?

Hello everebody,
Introducing my self again im a noob in android but with google im learning a little xP.
So I have updated my fone to Gingerbread 2.3.6 Stock, and now i cant get MIUI rom flashed in my fone as it is based in froyo kernel. So i have the ideia to download the miui rom, copy the framework-res.apk and replace my fone original framework. In my mind the uggly stock rom will look like miui, but i dont know if this will really happen. So i ask u guys, can i do that? Will my phone look like miui or it will become completely bug? Its safe to do that? Can u explain how?
Thanks everybody and sorry for my english.
Just google miui.apk and just install the launcher. www.4shared.com has something. When i tried it for a friend we could only find an older version that didn't let you have more than 4 icon on the dock.
But yes, visually you can make it like miui.
I know that i can install the launcher but this wont change notification bar and lockscreen, and those are the things that i really want to change, so can i load miui framework-res.apk in a stock rom? Will my phone look like miui or it will become completely bug? Its safe to do that? Can u explain how?
Well you could make a nandroid backup, then just do it.
If it doesn't work maybe look into miui themes for go launcher or such, I think they chagne stuff like task bars don't they? Not really sure though.
I don't think the MIUI framework-res would work with stock ROM and launcher themes don't change notifications etc AFAIK.

changing the system ui and framework won't do any harm like bricking my phone? does it?
Not permanently. Worst case scenario - you'll get a boot loop and have to flash back to stock, and start again.
For me this would be a non-issue, but perhaps it's too much hassle for some so each to their own.
But bottom line it would take no more than 1/2 an hour to just test it yourself and fully restore if things didn't work out and that's probably going to be the fastest way to get an answer about this.
I'd give it a crack myself for you, but my phone has been in for repair for 46 days in a row so far... so you'll be waiting a while for that
i've tried it and it got a bootloop is every framework.jar and framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk is unique to every phone??
Yes it is..Completely unique for all devices
I've seen MIUI running on top of a stock ROM, specially in xperias.
Maybe this helps:

Xperia SP deodexed Rom development..

Hello Everyone,
Welcome to the world of android.I have been using various android devices untill now and recently got this beast.
Thus i want to let you all know that i am in process to develop a custom stock rom unlike the Galaxies and Senses...
Key features i am incorporating as of now are
1) Fully deodexed stock rom with extended kernel full root cwm capability.
2) Bloatwares removed with addons from xperia Z
3)Perfectly matched launcher with best performance and battery.
4)Based upon user community request.additional functionality to be added.
I would definately require everyone's support and donation in order to make this a master piece.
I am opening up this thread provided xda moderators give a heads up for a general discussion on what requirements we have.
Thank you and i will be constantly updating you on the status of the rom.
Also look forward for some hosting space.
Thank you

Excellent!
Hi all,
just got my SP last week, and very satisfied with it, now i knew what the meaning of project butter smooth, i'm from X10 section (pretty old phone and need to work harder to make it run faster, lol) .
So. ... i'm in on this!!!
Sofar there are some weakness on this phone that i can see, such as :
- Status Bar, i will port Serajr's one on this phone.
- Reboot options on the power menu, and another wellknown MOD(s) need to provide.
- Sound quality through earphone (cuz my X10 with some mod on sound lib(s) can to beat SP stock very easy, according to my test on my ears for sure ).
- General background supossed to be black, i think.
- Bloatware remover and some usefull tweaks, such as ram management, i think we should have more than 500 MB on anytime instead of 430+ MB, etc etc.
- Porting stuff for some well known apps from another devices, etc.
BUT, this gonna 'kill' my monthly internet quota since the rom's size little TOO BIG to upload from here, so lets see it later.
EDIT :
I think we better wait for JB 4.2.2, perhaps SONY gonna release it soon, just suggestion.
Regards
