why phone show this words after update ?
and why i can't root phone ?
sorry for my bad English
thank you
1. Warranty void: 1 -> You void ur warranty when u rooted ur phone in android 4.3. You dont have to worry about the other words
2. You have to do the process of root 2 times sometimes. Try it and tell me how it works :highfive:

Maybe ur phone is rooted but the icon doesn't appears. This happened to me too:
1. Install this app and verify u are rooted: HERE
2.Only you have to do a backup of your Internal memory and do factory reset (Settings > Accounts > Back Up and Reset > Factory Data Reset > Reset Device > Delete All/Erase Everything). It will reboot and u will see the icon of SuperSU again :highfive:

I tried below but my phone is struck at intital logo Samsung galaxy S4 screen its not turning on.
Install and run Chainfire's TRIANGLE AWAY (I9505 ONLY, I9500 is NOT SUPPORTED YET)
NOTE: There is an option "System modified workaround", please tick this and restart your phone. Device Status should be back to OFFICIAL!! Use it with caution!!
Next few steps are ONLY for people who couldn't reset it with Triangle Away...
1. Reboot into Download Mode and check if Binary & System are OFFICIAL.
2. Only if the BINARY Status is still Custom, download and extract OFFICIAL STATUS MOD(.tar.md5): GT-I9500 or GT-I9505 - open in Odin as PDA (password: djembey2013)
3. In some cases FACTORY DATA RESET (Phone Settings=>Accounts=>Backup & reset =>Factory Data Reset) is required to reset Device Status.
You probably just need to do a factory reset. If the Odin flash was successful, simply boot into recovery (volume up+home+power) delete user data. reboot.
not working
still struck on samething no progress after logo
need serious help
my phone is not working need urgent help
Why do you start messing with your phone when you have no idea what you are doing? Thats just dumb.
What are you doing with Triangle Away? Do you have any idea what it does?
Stop messing with your phone before you make it worse! Just chill and start reading the forums!
Tell us STEP BY STEP, what you did with your phone. Stop saying help my phone doesn't work. That's USELESS information! We need details.
Omega Pro had helped me
I tried to install Google android 4.3 (nexus) on my phone i was successful but i didnt like that as it disable all the samsung features(palm, autostay) i tried to remove that but i messed something here i tried reset in TWRP after that my phone didnt start it was struck on samsung logo.
I tried to install google 4.3 again and it worked i had installed Omega rom its working fine but i do see my phone is slow i am still thinking of going back to actual android 4.2.2 version if u can help that would be great.
Thanks all for ur help.

Download Samsung Kies,
Go to tools and click firmware upgrade and initialization
If you have 9505 type in Model: GT-I9505 If you have 9500 type in Model: GT-9500
Now it will ask your S/N Number. If you cannot boot to android then pull out the battery and there must be S/N Number (NOT Battery S/N)
If you can boot to android, then go to Settings, touch more then scroll down find and touch about device, then touch status, scroll down and see the serial number
type it in Kies
Then follow instruction from kies
you must boot to download mode first (you can do this with: turn off the device then press Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button and then if you release it and press volume up to continue it)
not working
When i tried got error saying GT-I9505 does not support intializing

Kies won't work because you have a custom rom installed.
Why dont you just flash a custom rom in the recovery?
1. Do a factory reset in recovery. Wipe system/data/cache.
2. Flash a custom rom.
3. Boot.
It's as simple as that.
Or do you want to flash a stock rom? If so, make sure you flash a knox disabled stock rom.

I'm sure you can get it running with odin. Download Odin ver 3.07. Download the stock mh6 firmware from sammobile.com. it's a zip file. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file from it. Use that file in odin, PDA slot. Only have auto-reboot checked in Odin.
Hi everyone.
I'm wanting a little help on how to firstly restore my galaxy s4 then updating it to the latest firmware 4.3.
I want to root in the future so need some info on which KNOX free firmware i should use.
I have at the moment a galaxy s4 Rooted on 4.2.2.
I have a lot of crap on it so thats why i wanted to do a fresh install.
I have an unlocked s4 so i can use BTU firmware in United Kingdom (UK).
I wanted some help on how i should go about this and what software etc i should use.
My baseband version is i9505XXUBMEA. Would this need to be the same as the new one that i will be upgrading to 4.3 ?
All the help will be much apreciated.
P.s. i'v searched a lot of places and articles are not that clear. I hope someone can help me out here.
Im still confused.
Thanks
Ozzy
For make a hard reset u dont need flash ur firmware again. Only u have to:
1. Wake your Samsung Galaxy S4
2. Navigate to and tap on Settings.
3. Go to Accounts
4. Tap Backup & reset.
5. Select Factory data reset.
6. You will see a warning – read it and tap Reset phone.
7. Now tap Erase everything.
8. That's it. It will let ya the phone like the first day u turned on ur smartphone
EDIT: I dont recommend u update to 4.3. Simply coz u will have Knox actived and when u will root it ur warranty will be VOID. My council is wait till we can find a solution for KNOX. If u are in 4.2.2 enjoy it

I'm running MJ7 software on my Three network UK I9505, rooted with knox flag 0x1 and just installed Kies 3 and it's telling me to update my phone. Is this safe to do? Should I do it manually via Odin instead?
Device status is custom.

Yeah I anticipated that I will lose root but it's no big deal. It's just that with Kies 3 it let me all the way to ticking the boxes and the next step being update whereas the old Kies never let me go that far with custom status.
Also has a nice new warning in red about rooted phones potentially being damaged by updating, which I never saw before, hence why I asked. I presumed though that it's the standard Samsung warnings just in case something goes wrong
Just need to charge my battery because it won't let me update just yet at 77%.

Hi Folks
I been spending some time looking through the forums to find out which version of Odin to use.
Would Odin 3.07 be the right version to use for my S4 i9505 which is running 4.4.2 kitkat? It does have a newer version so has Knox embedded and is currently set to 0x0. I am already aware that I will trip this when i root the phone but is it true if I use CF-autoroot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824. I can somehow avoid my knox being affected?
I provide some more detailed stats of my phone build in case this helps.
baseband is i9505xxufnc4
kernel 4.4.0-481100 [email protected] Sat March 8 2014
build kot49h.i9505xxufnc4
secure boot status - type samsung
security software version MDS v1.0 release 2
for the moment I just want to root the phone and get my titanium backup installed so I can restore my apps from my old S2. At a later date I will then start looking at recovery and ROMs.
If anyone can point me in the direction of where I should be getting the software from, it would be most appreciated. There seems to be so many different variants out there, I just want to make sure I have got the correct one before I begin.
Many Thanks
if want to root your s4 you will trip knox

Hi RubbaBand
I am not too fussed with knox, i would prefer not to blow it but as far as im aware we dont use knox in the workplace and wont need it for my phone.
What am i concerned about is how the hell do i root my new phone the easiest way possible.
I tried to get samsung drivers from this thread but i think the links have disappeared or been removed -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038555
Also this post on rooting i9505, if i was to follow this what result would I have? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
Like i mentioned at the start, my first step is to just root the phone, do a titanium backup restore and see how I get on and keep it like that for days, weeks.... Basically till it begins to annoy me... i suspect i wont like it its true form but want to see how it goes and if i dont like it i will want to try a custom rom and i will want to backup the rom already on here just for safe keeping. Would i be able to revert back to this if I needed to at some point in the future?
If there is a thread that has the answers to these questions, please please let me know where that is and i am happy to look there.
Basically my priority here is get the titanium backup from my old S2 and get the apps restored to the new one e.g. Whats app etc. it also means i can restore the s2 to factory settings and sell it on or give it to someone.
Many thanks for the help guys.
if you want to root the phone for an easy way
install samsung drivers
then download Odin and touch philz Recovery for gt-i9505 ( search google)
then go to download mode by turning off the phone then ( keep pressing volume down + home key + power button) when the phone boots hit volume up
connect your phone to Pc and open Odin
select AP and select the touch philz.tar file and hit start
after phone boots turn off the phone again
then go to recovery mode by ( pressing the volume up + home key + power button)
then go to philz settings > re-root system > > yes apply ( Supersu )
then reboot your phone
Then download supersu from google play
and open SuperSu app and he will ask to update, he will ask you how do you want to update the binary? juat hit normal
and never backup your system with titanium backup !
if you want to backup your phone
go to recovery and select backup and restore > backup to phone storage or SD Card
save the backup folder that you will find it in clockworkmod recovery folder and keep it in a safe place like pc or external hard drive
always do a backup for your phone before flashing any custom rom !
you will be able to revert to stock by flashing the original firmware from www.sammobile.com and flash it via odin
or restore your previous backup
good luck

Thanks for the step by step guide. They looks striaghtforward to follow.
Yes normally i would use nandroid manager to perform backups but these would be so i could back in a point in time and if i was on the same phone.
As i am now moving phones i didnt think i would be able to use something like clockwork mod as that would then be a full restore from my S2. This is where i was thinking titanium backup would come in as i could be selective to what i would want to restore and obviously i wouldnt want to restore system settings from the old phone onto to the new.
If there are features on clockwork mod that i may not know about then please explain further.
Thanks for your replies again, finally making some progress i feel.
im here to help you anytime bro
cmw recovery lets you do Nadroid backup, flashing custom roms & kernels,, wipe data & cache & dalvik, mount sd card or a system folder (not recommended for you if you dont know what thats means), thats all

Is Odin 3.09 the correct version to use? there seems to be many different versions out there. I am use the Sameresh version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
It's for the S4 apparently.
Also for Phils Recovery I can only find i9500, would that be fine for i9505 model?

Thanks

Thanks I have followed your instructions but once I have installed SuperSU from the play store, when I open it says
"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. this is a problem!
If you just upgraded to Android 4.3 , you need to manually re-root consult the relevant forums for your device!"
Could it be that I am using a wrong Philz touch? I went to link you suggested and installed philz_touch_6.07.6-jfltexx.tar but reading on other threads they also mention philz_touch_6.41.8-jflte.tar which is compatible with i9505?
Is it worth me trying this version?
Thanks
ya try it
the higher the update the higher change

Many Thanks, tried the newer version and that worked a treat
currently using Titanium backup to sync to my dropbox where my titanium backups are stored and then will selectively restore a few apps with data that I want on my new phone.
Thanks RubbaBand for perserving and assisting me!!
Dont know why I was worried as I have done this many times on my S2, it was just that initial concern with if the process is different with the S4. I think it was the Knox stuff that threw me.
Checked my knox and it has set it to 0x1 but not too worried about that. Doubt if my company will use Knox for some while yet anyway!

you can't use download mode but you can still enter recovery? that's pretty weird... are you sure you're trying correctly? are the drivers properly installed and stuff? if it still doesn't work, then go to this section of the forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9500-develop there you will find plenty of roms you can flash with CWM recovery

Hi mate,
Lets go step by step.....
If you can get into recovery you can get into download...
1. Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons at the same time.
2. Release the buttons when you get the warning message.
3. Now press Volume Up button to confirm.
after you are in download mode lets flash a stock rom back in you can follow this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
or go to sammobile and get the latest one from your country
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
same one you had or newer ,
Another option would be ....
Take external sd out of your phone and use any posible adapter or device so you can use you pc to place a custom rom in....now place it back in your phone and from cwm instal the custom rom...
Stop panicing. This is basic rom flashing.
Just flash a custom rom from within cwm.

I can see that you are a new member, but why would you even give him this advice? There is nothing wrong with his phone. Stop giving these advices because it only scares people.
