I understand and i would have done it if it didnt mean loosing warranty.
I guess i feel stupid to .. well ... purposely loose warranty like that.
If there was a secure method i would have rooted already.
I rooted my note 1 no problem , i rooted my note 2 and lost warranty ... no problem
I just didnt want to loose warranty but if i need to run an app and it needs root then yeah . i guess i will.
This just makes me angry with Samsung . They will loose a faithful follower.
Theyre screwing with my ability to use my phone how i want to .
This is my last Samsung.

if your Bootloader version <= MJ3 then you can root without tripping Knox by using URDLV.
The above info are PDA, Baseband and CSC version, not Bootloader version.
You can check your Bootloader version by using my app: Phone INFO ★Samsung★

Samsung does repair it when you have a bricked phone and its owing to custom rom or root. I can't find a English page, but here in dutch: http://tweakers.net/nieuws/90256/sa...foons-standaard-onder-garantie-repareren.html

I've updated my N9005 via OTA to the latest XXUDMJ7.
Can I flash a previous original rom like XXUBMJ3 via ODIN and then apply root de la vega?
Or this flash via ODIN will trip the knox flag to 0x1, even being an original rom from sammobile?
Now that I'm on XXUDMJ7, how can I root my N9005 without losing my warranty?

I would like to warn u about the hazards if rooting with the Note 3.
Knox invention by these south koreans is just a pain for all those rooters inc. Me.
Watch the reactivation lock, it can brick ur phone if u downloaded and installed the wrong kernel. It happened 2 me. Ive lost a brand new Note 3 because in download mode with odin i couldnt get in because it was locked !
Note 3's reset their bioses each time. It takes one heck of a good programmer to bypass this awfull but very effective manner of theirs.

Ok, this is how I understand it, although I could be wrong on some things....
a) 4g on three has nothing to do with your SIM
b) 4g on Three has nothing to do with your ROM (Stock or Custom)
c) Three have not switched on 4g yet and apparently at first it's only four places, so unless your in one of those there really ain't any rush.
.
d) If your on a stock or even custom rom the 4g network setting does not show as an option, As your rooted though you can use an app called phoneinfo from the play store. Using this app you can change your network setting to anything you want.
e) This one I'm not 100% about, Getting 4g on three can only be modem related, you can upgrade your modem(s) to GSM_Modem_XXUEMJ5_and_LTE_Modem_XXUBMH1 without getting Knox.
Please read up about e) as I've spent ages looking for a definitive answer and I think I'm correct, if you find anything else out then get back to me.
.... If anyone else could verify the above that would be great.
Hope this helps a bit ...
Cheers
Three 4G OTA Update on rooted phone
I am in a similar situation, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 Rooted with Kitkat ROM (Poland) .
I contacted Three UK about the 4G update and asked them to send it to me. I was told that closer to the time I should unroot the phone DL the update and reroot. However I am not sure that would even work for various reasons.
I think that the info mentioned is accurate we just need to establish the correct file for each phone and flash with Odin.
Any further information appreciated.

Just to let you know, note 3 n9005 is otherwise called note 3 LTE, anything with 5 at the end like i9305, i9505, is the LTE variant.
Coming to question of root, that method will work, its called CF-auto root and the latest package can be downloaded from
http://download.chainfire.eu/352/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
But this will void your warranty as KNOX counter will get tripped to 0x1.
Having said that anybody who is on 4.4.2(any version), if they were not rooted before, will get KNOX 0x1 (warranty Void), if they try to root.

This should be stickied somewhere, because as someone who is still within the first 24 hours of reading about this device, it is not clear at all.
I just got a Note 3 that is still on 4.3 Jelly Bean, Kies is telling me to update as follows:
Current firmware version : PDA:MJ7 / PHONE:MJ7 / CSC:MJ1 (VIA)
Latest firmware version : PDA:NB4 / PHONE:NB1 / CSC:NB1 (VIA)
I am trying to find out if I can do this safely or not, at the moment my Note 3 is stock out of the box.
If what you write is right, then I should NOT update using Kies now, but root first, if my goal is to keep Knox warranty 0x0.
But how, if chainfires method is also triggering it?
If I had root I could use Mobile Odin and that doesn't trigger Knox?
I have spent several hours reading the subforums for the Note 3 as of now, it's still not clear, I think some more things need to be stickied and updated.
What would the best steps be from MJ7 stock?

Not really, if you are looking up ways to root without tripping Knox then you generally stumble across the URDLV thread and it has this in BIG RED letters across the top... URDLV was a sticky in Original Developement forum...
AFAIK the only way to root 4.4.2 is to downgrade it to 4.3 before MJ4 then root it using URDLV method. Here's a site on how this can be done.

As others have posted, there's currently no method to reset the Knox counter once it is tripped. The bounty is still out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52095753#post52095753

Unless you have a specific model of Note 3 (N900W) the KK bootloader won't allow you to go back to JB.
If you have an N9005 I wouldn't recommend flashing N900W firmware as bricking can be upsetting...

Yes, but you can't go back to JB once you upgrade to KK...
Go to Sammobile.com to find out if your region has it. If not you can upgrade to another region's KK, just avoid carrier roms as they require a pit file to flash too...

1. Mine never has.
2. At Sammobile it says - UK (Vodafone) - this is a carrier rom.
If it says UK then its a generic stock rom...
You will have to re-root after update but make sure its the KK cf-autoroot (if you use that).
As you are rooted I'm assuming you have Knox warranty void at 0x1.
If not do a search on how to update to KK using Mobile ODIN, that way you can retain root but still have Knox at 0x0...

Good God man, you've been a member here since 2006 and you still want spoonfeeding?! Search for the link yourself, it'll take about 30 seconds of your precious time.
Hi XDA people,
Just found this workaround for rooting latest 4.4.2 stock firmware without tripping Knox.
This method downgrades the firmware(System & Kernel) on your device to N7100XXUEMK4 except for the bootloader.
Dont even try to downgrade the bootloader as this isn't possible.
What you need:
1.Odin v3.09
2.Stock official N7100XXUFND3 firmware on your device.
3. A device with Knox Warranty Void: 0
Procedure:
1.Download N7100XXUEMK4 Stock Rom from HERE
2. Open the downloaded file. You will find 4 .tar.md5 files and an Odinv3.09 zip file inside.
3. Extract the Odin file and setup Odin on your PC.
4. Next extract the file named AP_N7100XXUEMK4_2099172_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5
5. Load this file into AP tab on Odin. Connect your phone in Odin mode and flash this file.
( Note : You have to flash only the AP file from Odin. Do not flash the other files namely CP, CSC, BL)
6. Now once the phone has rebooted go back to download mode and check if Knox has tripped or not.
7. Next use Saferoot from HERE to root your device.
(You would find the guide on how to root using saferoot easily over HERE
8. Now if saferoot was able to root your device then you must be rooted without tripping Knox. :good:
9. Now you can easily flash your official firmware through mobile odin. Select Everroot option on Mobile odin while flashing the new firmware. In this way you wont lose root access.
Known Issues:
If after rooting you want to flash custom recovery via mobile odin, or via DR.Ketan's utilities app please note that it will trip knox.
Knox remains cool until your recovery is stock. The moment a custom recovery is detected knox goes 1.
Credits:
@k1mu for saferoot

I don't think flashing ND3 BL will trigger knox.
Most of the users already flashed ND3 BL from MJ5 while they were on DN3. It doesn't trigger that way.

I did read them. They got knoxed means they got a BL with Knox warranty Void 0. And @paarkhi confirmed it to me
And I really don't think it would trigger knox that way because the bootloader doesn't check the integrity of the firmware on your device when you're flashing the bootloader itself.
Also it doesn't trigger Knox while it boots up the system and finds unauthorized firmware.
Because we don't have Kernel lock and secure boot like on Qualcomm based N3.

Okay this is all too much for my brain to absorb at this time of the night ,i don't think i actually understand the difference between Knox warranty void and being Knoxed ,i guess since we install de-knoxed ROMs we can't get Knoxed ,just that our warranty goes out the window and we cannot downgrade beyond a certain OS right? If what i stated is wrong then i'll go to bed and dream of knox

Lol. It's paritally right.
Don't worry buddy I'll help you learn Knox
Being Knoxed is getting that extra line in the download mode.
But this doesn't throw away your warranty. Warranty is lost only when this extra line in download mode ends with 1 instead of 0

But wouldn't flashing 4.4.2 BL trigger Knox? I got bit confused with @robalm method
@smeet.somaiya didn't some guy over at general forum under galaxy note 2 india told us that he downgraded from official 4.4.2 to stock 4.3 and his bootloader was downgraded as well?

I cant say for sure if flashing only the new 4.4.2 bootloader via odin will trigger knox, i have not tested it myself.
My post was more of a question from me.

In my opinion that shouldn't trip Knox.
Let us know if you test it.

Have you got any feedback yet?
I do not have the balls to try it, my warranty is still valid and i may need to have it on service in future.

No feedback yet. But one thing i can say for sure that even if this method fails it won't hard rick your phone because we ain't downgrading the BL here.
And I found a similar method on S4 active forums. It seems it works very well.

Ok.
But KNOX will trigger by flashing anything that is not samsung official? (same as the binary counter)

Yes it would trigger by flashing unofficial firmware.
But here we ain't doing that too.
We're just flashing a older kernel+system partition (the whole PDA from MK4) that was vulnerable to root without tripping knox.
