Charging Port Issues - Nvidia Tegra Note 7

Um so about a month ago i was charging my Note and I placed it on my desks keyboard slide-out tray but the Note fell and landed directly on the charging port with the cable plugged in and it looked like it bent the port internally since the cable no longer sits flat or stiff. I am willing to open the device and fix it since my warranty is shot since I rooted it lol. What do you guys suggest?

Can you provide a picture? hard to say without knowing what exactly you mean.

well, I think your options are probably pretty limited. Personally i would probably give it a shot, but you could also send it in to evga and pay for them to fix, probably $100+ or bring it to a local place to try it?

Help...for dummies at home usb port repair

My wiz (which I love) has developed a loose usb port. It is out of warranty (of course!), and it is not the first MDA to have this issue (I returned 3 over that past almost 2 years for the usb coming loose). It has not fallen out yet, but charging is a chore, as I need to have my plug in the usb in a special way to get it to connect and charge.
Long story short...
Is there a physical fix I can do on my wiz? Since it is not under warranty, I am not too concerned about taking my MDA apart...so...
Can someone who has had this issue tell me in a step by step manner, how to take the MDA apart and "tighten" the MDA port???
I am hoping to hold out long enough to get the Kaiser...if Tmo ever releases it.
Thank you in advance.
**I have search this forum and even googled...people list sites for $60-100,or say to take the MDA apart and solder it back...I'm broke and wanna go with the second option, but haven't found a step by step about how to actually take the wiz apart and re-solder the usb port**
I'm gonna be unhelpful so if you want to get mad at me, do it now.
I ask what I'm sure others are asking themselves: WHAT have you been doing to your MDAs where the usb port has been getting loose?! Three times?!
I ask not to be embarassing but to help other users from prevent damage to their devices.

Yes, I am quite pissed at you now...
The first one was a replacement for a crappy refurb they'd sent me, and I sent it back immediately as the port came to me loose. The second one came loose, I believe, just by charging it, syncing it, etc (I went through a phase where I changed OS's every 5 minutes...I am an addict, I admit it). The third one came loose (I suspect) when I was charging it in my car and had to hit the brakes hard, and it went flying to the floorboards. This one I have no clue. It worked fine until 2 days ago. I went to charge it last night and noticed it being VERY tempermental, and a bit loose. I would like to fix it before it gets to the point of being complete crap.
All the rumors say that Tmo USA will be releasing the Kaiser soon, and I really want that phone, and would rather not pay the $100 or so bucks swapping out my MDA through insurance, just to have the Kaiser released 4 days later (Murphy's Law affects me a lot).
So.... Help please!!!!
Ok...so I got my hands on the MDA repair manual...and after some head-scratching my husband and I managed to take the wizard apart. Luckily, only the 4 tiny bracket holding the usb port in broke loose, so it was a matter of soldering them back on. My MDA is back to working again. Yay (and whew!)

I had this same problem... Slamming on the brakes when your MDA is connected to the car charger is never a good idea...
Trust me when I say this though. I wrecked my Integra GSR swerving to avoid hitting a deer. The impact of the car hitting the curb severed all the contacts on the USB port and now the USB port has fallen out of the phone completely...
So all I need to do is solder those 4 connectors and make sure the port is positioned correctly over those 5 tiny connectors and I should be fine? My soldering skills are somewhat sub-par so I don't want to risk it unless I know exactly what needs to be done before I do it. I'm sure you can understand that though.
PS>> I too am only hoping that I can keep my MDA working long enough to get a Kaiser. I have been saving but am not quite there yet...

Well none of my connectors broke...luckily...so on that matter I'm not sure...however, I had my hubby dismantle my MDA (which I won't lie, was a real b*tch...you think you're breaking it) just to when the port was exposed...he then readjusted the 4 connectors then using silver solder and a gun, made 4 pinpoint attachments. Be very careful...he let the gun get too close and slightly melted the plastic down by the battery release tab...no real damage, but if you aren't careful...
Hopefully someone can better answer you about the procedure...as I said, mine had only come loose and didn't actually break yet.
Good luck on the Kaiser...I'm saving too!!!

Thanks. I'm going to take the chance and attempt soldering it back in place and just leave the 5 pin connectors touching where they're supposed to be soldered to. It's already broken and won't even hold a charge right now so really I have nothing to lose. Worst comes to worst, it won't work after I'm done but then again, it doesn't work now.
Wish me luck!!

let me know how your repair attempt goes. I'm in the exact same situation. Mine isn't completely broken, but it takes LOTS of fiddling to get it to charge, and I can't get an activesync connection at all. Because it still charges, though, I'm guessing that its not completely broken off which will make my repair job slightly easier....

I assume that means he has pulled the battery out and put it back in - it cures lots of ills...
Im so sorry about your 7501. Yes reseating the battery (taking the battery out and putting it back in) is the first thing Id try after hard reset didnt work. In fact, Id probably try pulling the battery out and in 4 or 5 times as on my unit the battery seems to need to fit just right. If I had a second battery I might swap the battery out just to see what happened. Of course if the 7501 under warrantee I might just ship it back. But if it wasnt under warrantee and your not gett ing any lights when you try to recharge Id suspect a power problem, something isnt connecting right perhaps. If its not under warrantee Id gently shake, rattle? Something bad is loose? Id examine the miniusb connector. Can I see anything abnormal? Does it the connector, move with my finger? When I charge does anything happen when I push on the miniusb cord against the unit . back and forth, hoping lights would come on. No? THen Id probably try taking apart to see what i could see. Especially Id try to look at the left side where the miniusb power connects and id look at where /?the location of the drop/dent for obvious damage. Sorry thats all basic. If under warrantee you might not want to open it up as that might void the warrantee.

My X10 is dying

I fear a sad day will come soon when my x10 will be unusable. The main current problems are broken in-ear speaker, meaning i have to use speakerphone or bluetooth for calls, and charging the phone has become a pain after while being plugged in to my laptop and falling off the side it has to be maneuvered to one direction to stay on. Luckily i have an upgrade due soon but i dont want use it until the right phone comes out, and especially with gingerbread coming soon.
I dont drop it often and im sure an iphone wouldve perished under the same conditions which is why i hope to keep it alive as long as possible, has anyone ever fixed any of these problems by any chance?
have you tried CPR?

warranty is a no go as a very brief splash coloured the water damage area, im not sounding like i look after it very well but i have had it 18 months now, il get back to any of you if it does give up eventually. I did laugh at those pics though, no offence taken.
woke up today to 3 blinks if the red led, thought it was over but after a little stint in the wall charger, it started to charge again, whew, close call, ironically today is the first day i can upgrade.
Why don't you upgrade then ? Do you like the Arc or other phones ? If you are fond of the phone, I'm sure you can find a shop that can fix the issues cheap if you care to wait a day or so, maybe even faster.
Anyway, just to be sure, make a backup of your contacts and photos while you still can.
i actually have upgraded now, wanted to wait and see what the duo was like but even when i managed to get the battery to 100% it was flat in 6 hours, most of the time in my pocket (i can usually get a full day out of it) Went with the arc, love the design and hopefully it will be updated better than the x10 was.

Broken the USB port -_-

Last week when charging my phone, it slipped off my desk and something happened inside the phones USB port. The little metal contact was moved out of place. I could still charge, but it had to be at a certain angle and if I picked it up it stopped charging.
And this morning, I broke it even more. I dropped it into a bowl of milky cereal. I didn't think it would be too bad. I wiped it down and I've been using it fine all day at college. But I've just got home and went to test if it still charged. On my own little USB cord I had from elsewhere it didn't work, but on the official LG one it worked after a LOT of shuffling around and changing the angle.
I'm gonna leave it as it is to make sure it doesn't stop charging, because I don't have a wireless charger handy.. I would also prefer to get the official orb from Google, because I don't want to spend a lot of money of something that doesn't work very well.
I was wondering if there is a way to fix this myself, or can I get a replacement from Google/LG?

I'm actually quite careful with my phone! It's just very smooth and slippery..
I would call them and tell them it no longer charges.
See what they say. Worst thing they do is say not covered.
I would omit the milk and dropping parts.

Qi charger for $35 - too good to be true?

http://www.fasttech.com/products/1197502
Includes FREE worldwide shipping. Is this too good to be true? I'm keen to give it a shot, but can't seem to find a brand-name or anything. According to the seller its compatible with our phones, but I'm always sceptical of no-name-brand Chinese things, especially if it could damage my precious.
Don't think its branded at all. Their return policy seems pretty good. Seems as though you would only have to pay for shipping if it's not an error on their part. I assume DOA's and the thing breaking down within the warranty period would constitute as free return paid by them. Post a review if u decide to try it.
I received mine today but for some reason I only seem to get 94% charged and won't go above it... I'm still trying to find if anyone else is having this same issue but nothing at present...

You can move it around a bit but not too much, it'll work sideways, longways, etc. and I've also got a case on without an issue.
Maybe once you remove your case, it will charge over 94%.

Has anyone looked at the one labeled just "Qi Wireless Charger"?
It's white, and I don't like that, but it's completely flat, so it'd probably fit the phone better...?
Better as in, if you have to turn it around, then it'd be better, since with the large one, the casing seems to be raised at the top, whereas the standard one is completely flat, so flipping it around wouldn't really be that big of a deal.

This is not the same charger as the one being discussed in that other thread.
To repeat the OP, this is the charger discussed here:
http://www.fasttech.com/products/1197502
Mine arrived today. My early thoughts:
1.) It feels pretty cheaply made, but its a simple device and I can't really fault anything about it as far as build quality goes.
2.) The Nexus 4 has to be placed upside down for charging to take place. Bit of a shame, but no reason why you can't just use the pad itself upside down instead.
3.) Unlike the comments from another poster here, I was relieved to see my phone charge to 100% without any problems.
4.) The flashing blue LED is annoying and doesn't seem to do anything other than flash continually whether it is charging or not. I'll probably open it up and kill it, and/or simply tape over it with black tape.
All in all, pretty happy for the price paid, and glad to be able to reduce the wear and tear on the microUSB port.

Sorry, when I say "upside down", I don't mean face-down. Rather, the charging port needs to be at the top. Obviously that's where the sensor / coil lines up best with the phone; can't think of any other reason.
FYI, use the code "LAUNCH" for 5% off. Credit goes to samlikely in another thread for this.
