Hi there,
I have got a problem:
I flashed my Motorola Defy with SlimKat 4.4.2 build 3.8. I'm totally happy with it, it really works fine. But i have the problem, that i dont have access to all stock sounds. When I try to choose a ringtone, the list is empty.
Now I have some own mp3-ringtones on my sd-card, but I also want to have the stock sounds. When I browse my phone with ES Explorer I find can find the folders on my phone and also the ringtones, but I can't choose them in the settings section.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you very much in advance!
Problem solved:
I wanted to format my sd-card. Then my PC found 5 defect pictures, which it could not copy. After deleting all this defekt data, the data scanner on my phone could work properly and now everything works.
So, if you have any problems with media data updating on your phone or you can't find it in your galleries or system settings, format your sd-card or scan for defect files.
Bye.

Hi There,
I have the same problem. The only solution seems to be to delete the MSMETADATA folder from the storage card and add the tracks again. I can't find any other way of fixing it.
Hope this helps
that worked, thanks for the quick response! so this may happen again? odd glitch if you ask me...

Yip, This seems to be the standard way of dealing with this at present. For those that need a little more info:
Use native file explorer set it to show all files (hidden files) or use other file explorer to view hidden files,
Browse storage, delete hidden folder MSMETADATA,.
Update Library in WMP

I've used that fix a number of times but now it doesn't work...
I've now flashed a new Rom Schaps 4.3 and formatted my SD Card. Still no luck!!!! Argggghhhh....
The card shows up in the camera app as well as file explorer, however both media players don't recognise it.....
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.....
Thanks

Did the problem occur immediately after flashing the Schaps Rom?
If it did then you may get more help asking in the Schaps 4.3 thread as it may be a Schaps registry setting or a change being loaded by a program in that ROM.

Ok....just sorted it out.....But to answer your question, it happened before I loaded Schap's 4.3, I was using TNT....Now...here's how it was sorted.
Normally I don't sync with Windows Media Player, I just copy the files over onto the SD card using a USB adapter (which incidentally sometimes screws up my media player and that's when I delete METADATA, but it's far quicker than copying through the phone)...The problem fixed itself when I ticked the button to sync media player...it rewrote another METADATA and I can now see the card once more......
Have a great day

Just today i went to listen to some music and after a few seconds the music just stops, initially i thought it was because i had it on shuffle once or something but i didn't change any settings at all, everything looks to be ok and everything else is working as normal, the only thing i can think of is that i downloaded MemMaid quick clean but i didnt delete anything i shouldn't so cant think why this is happeening as it was working ok yesterday!
My phone was flashed with Laurentius Ultimate Power WWE ROM and is stable..
Anyone any ideas?
Same problem here. I don't use MemMaid, so the problem must be somwhere else.
I use Miri Xtralight ROM.
I had that problem a while back. A hard reset sorted it out, i think it was something i installed..not sure what
Soloution !!
I had the same problem and I contact the them and here what they said , and worked :
If you are facing problems with your audio player, I may suggest that you do a hard reset and and then install the update. Please backup your information before doing a hard reset as this will delete all personal data. Also please try the following suggestions regarding how the music is stored on your SD card. Please try this option – Make sure that all the mp3/songs on your device are in one folder and this folder should be placed on the ‘root’ of the SD card(so when you double click or tap on the SD card you should be able to see the Music folder straight away). You may more than one folder on the sd card say Music1, Music2… and each folder not exceeding 200 mp3/songs. Also please download the User guide if you haven’t already done so for your device from the HTC website for some useful information. I trust that this resolves your query, please do not hesitate to contact us again if required. Thank you for contacting HTC
Hello there.
First of all, I feel like shooting guys from Samsung on the face for taking away mass storage support on Galaxy S4. MTP is simply AWFUL!!!
Anyway, I don't know if the phone can't properly show up on Windows folders with thousands of pictures, but I'm having too many problems with my WhatsApp picture folder. It has over 3k pictures, and when I open it up on Windows it began showing pictures as folders, txt files and other crazy stuff.
Check the attached picture. The txt file and the folders above it are all pictures! On Android's file organizer they show up alright, but on Windows they show up crazy like that.
Does anyone have any clue on why this happens?
And as a second question, is there any way to change the USB mode on this phone without rooting it?
Thanks a lot!
try to wipe data/factory reset & wipe cache this should solve the problem
and there is no way to change the storage type
Hey mate, tks for the reply. I can't do that coz I'm not rooted. Only option would be a factory reset from the settings menu, but I'd like to avoid that if possible...
I dont think if there is a better solution
I would recommend to backup everything important then wipe data
Hi all,
On my phone the text messages and photos are accidentally deleted.
I need help in recovering them. I tried the trial versions of some software I found on the internet and none of them are working.
Is there anyway, I can access the file system and run a scan? The phone is appearing as a device on the PC. May be, if I can put t as an external drive, I can use good software I think.
Any help is appreciated.
Regards
Chand
I noticed all of my notification sounds had switched to the factory default over the weekend. When attempting to change them to my custom sounds, they no longer show up as choices. I have verified the files are there (and playback) via the My Files app. There is no .nomedia file present in the directories either. Anyone have any idea what the cause of this is (and more importantly) the fix? Not looking forward to trying a factory reset.
Thanks!

there is a notifications folder at internal memory (local sd - /data/notifications) ... your files are there?
All of the files were there but they would not show up when I would try to change them. Went ahead and did a factory reset to fix the issue.
Thanks for trying to help though!

Spoke too soon. The problem was only temporarily fixed with a factory reset. I rebooted my phone this morning and once again, all of my custom ringtones are no longer being recognized.
Will keep trying things to figure this out...
Update:
Still not sure why files present in the Alarms, notifications and ringtones folders are showing up as options, BUT I was able to move those folders into another folder to get them to start working. Good enough for now.
