Just today i went to listen to some music and after a few seconds the music just stops, initially i thought it was because i had it on shuffle once or something but i didn't change any settings at all, everything looks to be ok and everything else is working as normal, the only thing i can think of is that i downloaded MemMaid quick clean but i didnt delete anything i shouldn't so cant think why this is happeening as it was working ok yesterday!
My phone was flashed with Laurentius Ultimate Power WWE ROM and is stable..
Anyone any ideas?
Same problem here. I don't use MemMaid, so the problem must be somwhere else.
I use Miri Xtralight ROM.
I had that problem a while back. A hard reset sorted it out, i think it was something i installed..not sure what
Soloution !!
I had the same problem and I contact the them and here what they said , and worked :
If you are facing problems with your audio player, I may suggest that you do a hard reset and and then install the update. Please backup your information before doing a hard reset as this will delete all personal data. Also please try the following suggestions regarding how the music is stored on your SD card. Please try this option – Make sure that all the mp3/songs on your device are in one folder and this folder should be placed on the ‘root’ of the SD card(so when you double click or tap on the SD card you should be able to see the Music folder straight away). You may more than one folder on the sd card say Music1, Music2… and each folder not exceeding 200 mp3/songs. Also please download the User guide if you haven’t already done so for your device from the HTC website for some useful information. I trust that this resolves your query, please do not hesitate to contact us again if required. Thank you for contacting HTC

can't help you or tell you the reason because you are not giving enough details about what you are trying to install, what is going wrong. How are you trying to install. Exe or .cab files. are you just getting error's during the installation
i tried to install .cab & .exe , but it says install unsuccessful, for example SPB & Battery status
mmmm
On what ?... is the cab on the phone or on the PC ???????
i tried both , but i couldnt
You have the HTC Touch Elf right? No cabs at all are instaling on your phone.
Possibiliites:
1. The cab files are being currupted either while you are downloading them or while you are sending them to your phone. FYI Cab files are to be installed via your phone not PC. Transfer the complete cab to phone and just click it to install - Do Not Unzip it. (A cab file looks like it is a zip file or a rar file wen it is on your PC but don't be fooled. it is a cab and does not need to be unzipped) you will only see a bunch of messy files and will just get confuzed. just place the cab on your phone and tap it with your stylus to initiate install
Exe's are to be installed via your PC to your phone through activsinc. place the exe on your desktop (Or wherever) and connect your phone to your PC using Activsinc. Then click the exe on your desktop and follow installation instructions - NOte you will have to still do some clicking on your phone to allow the installation.
2. you are not installing them properly and therfore follow instructions above.
3. your phone is currupt somehow (I don't see how) Try a hard reset and see if the programs will install after that. if not, you might want to return your phone for warranty (I am assuming you just got this phone and this is the first time you are trying to install something.
4. Maybe you have run out of room on your device to install any more applications (if you have been installing tons of other stuff successfully)
I have never gotten any errors installing cabs or exe's exept for when I was trying to install something that my phone did not support. (Not a valid WM application) or something like that.
Edit: You still are not give us much information - What type of error are you getting - What does your phone show/tell you?
Does it start to install and fail half way through? does it not start at all? does it install and the programs just do not run?
Tell us what program you are trying to install - what error you are getting and when you are getting it. Tell us the method you have used to install it etc....
If you want help you will have to provide us with as much information and detail as you can. Otherwise - Good Luck.
I will check back here regularly to see your response and try to help, but if you don't give us much more detail - no one will be able to help you.
Did you flashed your ROM recently?
it start to install and fail half way through, but not all of the softwares , for example i cant install tcpmp,wm router , battery status , and alot of softwares , the error is always the same ( it start to install and fail half way through)

I don't know about battery status or wm router but TCPMP is an exe type installation. if you try to install this using your phone by putting the TCPMP installation on your phone and clicking to install, it won't work. You have to put the installation file on your computer, connect your device to your computer through activesinc. then click the TCPMP Installation on your desktop and follow instructions. Make sure you accept installation on your device when your device asks. The others may be the same
i did like that , but nothing changed , same message , install unsuccessful

Are you trying to install to your storage card or to device? Are you certain that you have enough storage space left?
Do you have any problems with Activsinc?
Have you tried downloading another copy of TCPMP - Maybe the copy you have is no good.
yeh , i tried on both storage and device memory , i have 1.5 gb remaining on storage also
my active sync is working in perfect condition, i dont know wht happend , ok , is there anything that i can upgrade my phone ???

I don't know if I can help you with this problem. I have never had any problems installing anything onto my device even when the app wasn't compatible. usually still installed, just wouldn't run. I am still using official stock WM 6.0 rom that came on my device. (have not ever flashed a new ROM or Radio and don't know anything about that. If you did flash a new ROM or radio, that could be what is causing your problems and you may want to examine in the thread where you got your ROM or Radio from for answers or to see if anyone else is having the same difficulties. Perhaps PM the person who cooked the ROM. If you havn't flashed any new ROM or Radio, then maybe you changed something in your registry that you shouldn't have with a registry editor (just a thought - don't know if you have ever done this) or maybe you have an app on your phone that is causing conflict when trying to install other apps. You can always try a hard reset of your device (if you don't mind starting from scratch again customizing your device) and then try installing TCPMP and see if it works right after a hard reset. That would suggest either something was changed in your registry or that another app was causing conflict. Bit of a pain in the a## having to reinstall everything(unless you don't have much installed on your device) and still no guarantee that it will work. Before doing a hard reset, you might want to look into backing up your device. (I don't know anyting about backing up - what program to use or how much it can back up such as setting or such but you might want to check it out. Also make sure you sincronize your device with your computer prior to hard reset so that all your contacts, appointments etc... are up to date that way after a hard reset you can just syncronize your device again and get your contacts and appointments etc... back.
If anyone else has any suggestions here -- Please feel free to jump in. I know that I would be really annoyed not being able to install new apps to my device.
Good luck. I hope this gets figured out for you
Rod
i had the same problem, it was unbelievably frustrating, i had to restore my X1i to factory settings, that fixed the problem.
I think you should follow hotrod101's suggestion and do a hard reset. Its quite likely that your phone has malfunctioned or something. It's probably going to save you a lot of work in the long run. Or turn in your device in one of the HTC service centers as already stated. Don't forget to back all your stuff up first.
Good Luck.
thanx alot
you did not say whether your rom is original or coked as i met some problems with cocked roms in installing arabic based applications that was easily installed before flashing me device
Did you get things figured out - If so please share with the rest what you did to solve your problem, in case others are having similar problems. Did one of our suggestions help or did you find another solution?
same problem on my Touch Pro, seams to be common ... some say that it is due to the fixed number (50 installed programs) on the touch flue ... however, I have no more information of how did they got this result, or what is the registry of this issue???
I hope if someone help on this to avoide us the headache cused by hard reset, just thinking about it make me crazy.
even hard reset is not a solution.
Hi there all, I noticed that the ringtones from the my ringtones folder from my sdhc card no longer show in the drop down list in the sounds and notifications part of the settings now so I looked a bit closer and noticed that it was set to Ring-WindowsMobile... I clicked ok to look at the my ringtones folder on my sdhc card but it would not close the settings... so I changed the ringtone and voila it closed and would work ok and the ringtone I selected (Pour Elise) would still show up ok... so I went to my ringtones and selected a file to use as ringtone (hold stylus on the file name then select) but the ringtone simply reverted back to the corrupt one... I noticed then that there are 3 files that show up twice in the list (all with Ring- as a prefix and called Ring-WindowsMobile, Ring-Vision and Ring-Standard)... now when I try to preview each it tells me that the file is corrupt although I can play it in Coreplayer ok. I tried to delete the files but they are read only or somesuch and cant be deleted. I tried a softreset and nothing... I used sktools to do a clean but still nothing... how can I get rid of these files and re instate my sdhc ringtones...?
Just bumping this up in case anyone missed it.... cheers again for any help in deleting these files... perhaps someone knows a program that will get rid of them with extreme prejudice thus over riding that annoying cant delete them cos they are read only or protected or what ever...
Ok since I cant figure this out and there are no suggestions forthcoming, a hard reset it is to see if that dont fix it... cheers
I had a problem with a Tomtom mapsettings.cfg file that my XP PC said was corrupt and couldn't delete.
I politely asked Resco Explorer to delete it on the phone, and Resco said fine, no problem...the file was deleted.
Ok installed Resco and tried to delete, didnt work, renamed the files and tried to delete... woo hoo it worked... no wait the files are still there in the windows directory... doh!!! oh well hard reset it is... many thanks for the advice...
You might want to think about backing up the remainder of your card and formatting it again.
Mine was a 16GB card which started with the mapsettings.cfg corrupting (several times - I learnt to take a backup of it into main memory). Then when I tried to archive the card files I found several more corruptions. I simply deleted everything and started again, but didn't re-format.
I noticed more recently that some of my Sprite backups were failing to restore but ignored it, assuming they were just glitches.
Last week I was messing with other ROMs, so I took TWO backups (Sprite and Resco, knowing the Sprite ones were proving a bit flaky). When I tried to restore back data after flashing back to original ROM I found BOTH backups were corrupt. Furthermore, I found the whole card was unreadable and I couldn't access any data on it.
I wish now I had reformatted the card while it was still partially working. Now it is totally stuffed and I can't rescue it at all.
In all my years of geekdom and gadgeteering, this is the worst nightmare I have ever had (four manual rebuilds in a week...ouch!).
It is worth considering...
Thanks for the tips Mr Anderson... I ended up hard resetting and once I did that the ringtones were ok and I could access my ringtones too...
Hi Guys, i have a big problem.
Everytime i go on the music tab in Sense it keeps restarting Sense.
I removed all the music on my SD Card (didnt worked)
I removed the SD Card itself (didnt worked)
I updated the library in Media Player (didnt worked)
is there any way to fix this, or just a way to reinstall Sense.
Im just flipping out.
HTC HD2, Vodafone.
Please help me out !
did you perform a soft reset after removing all the things you mentioned?
O yeah, even that didn't worked.
But This Thread can be Closed.
I got it Solved.

Maybe this will solve it.
Please Help, I'm using HTC_Asia_TW_1.66 stock rom on my HD2, after installing some apps and mods, it won't boot after a soft reset. I restored the system by SPB backup to earlier status and then all comes back, the phone works again except the photo tab remains blank (black).
Maybe that's because I didn't make a "full backup" but only "system" level by SPB, may this lead to miss something on restore?
Here is what I have now : In the right side there is still counter showing "1/99" (means there are 99 photos?) but nothing shows up. The camera icons on the top-right side are still there too, and they works. HTCAlbum works too. On the bottom the two menu text remain "phone" and "menu", which belong to the home tab.
All other tabs work just fine.
I tried to delete the album cache files but no luck.
As mentioned I got system backups from last stats, I'm thinking extract something from it to replace current files (exe, dlls ?) but I've no idea about what to do~
Any helps are very appreciated...
Sorry for my English...

Same problem
I have exactly the same problem. I just noticed it today. I'm using the WWE 1.66 ROM and everything's been fine.
I have no idea what caused it, and would love some help.
Thanks,
David
The symptoms look very suspiciously caused by the installation of the landscape rotation tweak, TX Total Landscape.cab
I had installed this particular cab before but had since removed.
Same problem
I have the same problem with my hd2... but I did not installed the TX Total Landscape.cab.
I think the problem started when I tried the GTX white theme.cab... but even after its removal, the photo tab still doesn't work.
Is this a bug caused by Cookie's Home Tab 1.8.5???
I really don't know how to solve this...

Thanks Zentury, I think this may be the most possible reason. I didn't use the Tx one for landscape fonction but I do have installed another enablelandscape.cab. This one may cause the same problem. but I can't confirm this cause I've switched my stock rom to energy rom yesterday. thanks anyway!
I tried several ROMs - 2 of miri's, and 2 energy ROMs and all 4 of them lead to freezing of my ""pictures and video sense tab, even after a fresh flashing. I flash my device after I format my SD card, remove it along with the SIM, perform task 29 => ROM flashing and then hard resetting. I tried different compatible radio versions, 2 of the roms were with CHT...still the same bug - pics and video tab freezes few seconds after finding the pictures on my SD card. I think what is common in all these 4 ROMS is the presence of a screen rotating app - in the last ROM (Energy Reference) it is called just "Rotate screen". Anyone know how to disable it?
drkalo,
It's weird cause I'm using Energy's rom (JUN22 Cookie version) and the photo tab problem on the last stock rom is totally gone!
I don't think it's easy to disable the rotation from these cooked roms, maybe you can ask within the specific rom threads.
But I think if I have no problem with energy then you wouldn't... I'd suggest formating your SD card but you've done it. I suppose you copied files back to the card after formatting. Now it sounds like a file error. Did you try deleting any non-image files on your photo folder (DCIM) ? especially album.cache. Move out the videos too, they could be problematics. When using HD2's camcorder I've tried saving videos in other formats and that freezed my phone.
Dear noixdarec,
As you suggest I copied back all of my SD card content after formatting. I deleted the cache files but din't delete the whole DICM folder. Now I did that and then I made several new photos and videos and - VOILA! The tab works without freezing! Never thought of that and I thank you VERY, VERY MUCH! Mersi beaucoup!
Dear drkalo, je t'en pris (you're welcome) ! So glad that you solved your problem, have a good day~
Hi guys, I tried searching and did not find any answers so I am hoping someone will be able to help.
A few weeks ago my HD2 (TMo US) was running great with CHT 1.7 and all other sorts of apps from XDA installed. When CHT 1.8 was released I took the leap as I loved v1.7 and thought v1.8 has got to be even better. I was right and all was perfect with the world UNTIL one dreadful day my phone froze when I was flipping through my pics with the Photo tab. No big deal I thought. Did a reset and tried it again to see if it was a fluke. To my dismay it was not and it happened whether I started the HTCAlbum app directly or used the Photo Tab. I thought it could be CHT 1.8 so decided I would wait for CHT 1.8.5 which was going to have all the bugs fixed. I did the ROM update to 2.13 and installed CHT 1.8.5 figuring a clean install would solve the issue. Sadfully that did not help. I did a hard reset again, DID NOT install CHT and Albums kept freezing after a few seconds. Sometimes I was able to get back into Sense but other times I had to reset the phone.
I figured it could not be CHT at this point but may be a SD card access issue. After another hard reset I formatted my SD card as that was where the pictures were stored. After loading the pictures back onto the card, I got the same results. I then moved the pictures from the SD card into main memory and same results. So some searching on the internet led me to a few post on HTCAlbums crashing but no luck in locating a fix. I also tried searching for a HTCAlbum cab file with no success. Just to be clear, nothing happens when accessing the SD card in any other way. I can read/write/browse in any other program as much as I want as fast as I want with the SD card or Device memory. Other pic viewers work flawlessly as well. Only when accessing pics with Albums causes the problem whether on the SD card or Device Memory so I am lead to believe something is corrupt with the HTCAlbums progam/files.
So after this novel I have two questions:
1. Do all the files on the phone get recreated with a hard reset?
2. Does anyone have an Albums cab file they can share? (Chefs please help!)
Suggestions are welcomed
If you hard reset the phone mate it will send it back to when you first got it or flashed a new rom, so will be fresh it will delete all data, contacts, pictures etc on the phone so back up, I think HTC album will be cooked in and not available separately unless you ask in a ROM thread
That is what I thought but even after 4 different hard resets and a TMo ROM upgrade I still have this stupid issue.
I guess it's worth asking in the ROM forum or learn how to load a custom ROM.
Thnx...
I made a post about this very thing last week...
For 3 months my phone worked great Not a single problem, other than my stupid mistakes.
Then out of the blue the HTC photo album just started locking up. After countless hard resets, and reading some of the replies on my post, I thought it might be a bad pic file. I removed all the pics and it still locks up when scrolling through the pics, and sometimes when starting the camera. I'm at a total loss on this one. I hope someone can come up with something.
For now I am just living with it, because I really dont want to take the phone back and take the chance of getting a piece of crap referb that someone ells had even more problems with.
me too.
+1 funny thing is i didn't even know that we had an album viewer until i hit it twice on accident and it came up then proceeded to crash. i found anotheranother place that offered a cab but it wouldn't install so it was no help and now i can't find it again.
I flashed the 2.13 ROM again last night and now the freezing happens ONLY when the Albumsearcher.exe is scanning for images. If use the file explorer to open an image the Albums program will read from the image files no problem and flips through them quite fast from both the Device and the SD card. The moment I start the Albums program or the Photo tab and tries to pull up the thumbnails, I get an error message for either Albumsearcher.exe or HTCAlbum.exe and my SD card is not visible until after a soft reset.
I can't say it is a SD card access issue as it happens only with Albums or more specifically Albumsearcher.exe? What I do not understand is why after the crash the SD is no longer visible on the device?

you my friend
are leading me down a very dark path....lol
I started to read through the HD2 T29 thread and it seems it will solve my problem. This is what a hard reset should do in the first place. I still have some more reading before I take the plunge as I am not clear if I can use the tool without HSPL as my HD2 is all stock and would like to flash the stock 2.13 ROM. I also thought I read somewhere that if you flash a custom ROM you can't go back to stock. Does not seem right but I am heading over to the ROM FAQ threads so I don't screw anything up.
Thanks again bud for showing me the light
no worries mate , but according to my understanding if you install hspl it will avoid you r warranty
also have a custom rom downloded and the suitable radio allready insatalled
let me know if you want any more help il do my best to help you out
I will have to install HSPL and with 9 months left in my warranty period I think I can like without the Albums program. If I have more issues then I may change my mind.
That being said, I will take you up on the RESCO PHOTO offer. When you have the chance can you either post or email me the files? I will PM you my email.

The problem is with the sd card take off all your pics and save them to your computer. The problem is with the pictures sytored on the sd card, it causes crashes of the albums program. I went through 2 new phones, before that i discovers the common problem the same sdcard was used. I got rid of the pics and that fixed the problem.
hi i have attached the manila file with will tell the devise to open up resco insted of htc album, you will have to get resco your self as i cant give it to you according to forum rules sorry
copy the manila to windows directory and overrite exsiting file then soft reset
do this at your own risk , this has been confirmed working by me and other users where i got the file from
always back up the phone before modyfing anything
