It does - look into the Accessories subforum and see that there is a very, very long thread about the 128GB Sandisk microSD, and towards March 2014 you will see a number of people that finally got their 128GB microSD and posted results and impressions.

Superb cheers

I'm not sure if this applies to 128GB Sandisk cards, but I've read reports on Sandisk's forum, numerous Googled sites and have been told at several computer stalls in Hong Kong (where I live) of 64GB cards failing on 'some Samsung devices', most notably S4 and Note 3. I have a Note 3 and, until recently, a 64GB Sandisk Ultra UHS I [1]. After the KitKat update it stopped writing, deleting, it wouldn't even format. My storage was 'frozen'. I've since contacted Sandisk and while waiting for the replacement I've purchased a Samsung 64GB as I don't trust Sandisk right now :highfive:

Well done, you did your homework. But talk about a knee-jerk reaction
Ok, let me clarify something here.
My phone is rooted. That's why I'm here at XDA. I've also fixed the RW permissions for external storage in platform.xml, which would've allowed me to continue using my card pre-KitKat. Note also that I'd tried other SD cards and they worked fine.
On my Sandisk I could not write, delete or format my SD card. What you mentioned only pertains to applications writing to the external storage.
I'd tried through my phone and PC, to no avail. Had I failed to provide enough analysis, don't you think Sandisk would've questioned me on this before agreeing to send me a replacement? Think, man!
They also queried what Samsung I was using, what kernel and build.
What would that have to do with anything? It's a hardware fault, but they were keen to know anyway.
See attached a screenshot of my nuked card, for your information. Consider what your next post on XDA will be, unless you wish to alienate yourself from more people who are only trying to help.
EDIT: In case you're wondering, no the card didn't split into two by some nano-nuclear explosion, I cut the card purposely at Sandisk's request in order to receive the new one.

That is not an issue with your card. That is a "feature" of KitKat. They disabled the ability to write to it.
Requires root to fix for now.

Apps that are updated can still write and read from their own folder on a sdcard

An update to the thread. My 16GB Sandisk SD card failed just few days ago. It was working perfectly on Note 2 for 12 months , until I moved it Note 3 6 months ago. Soon after an update to 4.4.2, the card simply stopped working. No formatting ( on phone or PC) has made any difference.
I've stopped using SD card now.
BTW, Is Android slowly becoming the half-eaten fruit? Restrictions, locked-down ROMS, no SD card?? I might just bite the bullet to become an I-Muppet!.

This does in some part support the information I received about SanDisk cards failing on some particular Samsung devices. I have since given my 64gb SanDisk replacement to my sister for her S3, so far no issues. I now use Samsung 64gb.
If you want to talk about half-eaten fruit, look no further than Apple!

All cards dont have this issue...only some do. Mine works fine as well... never any issues.

" The problem affects "a very small percentage of 32GB and 64GB SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSD cards," says the memory card manufacturer. Various forums have reported the problem, including the*official SanDisk forum."Under certain circumstances the cards may lock up and the card becomes inaccessible," SanDisk continues, adding, "the issue has been identified and a manufacturing fix has already been put in place."

Yeah, move along- nothing to see here.
I've got 3 each of the SanDisk 32 and 64GB SD-Card and have yet to have any of them fail; as others have pointed out, I guess the OP didn't see the words "small percentage of ... cards".
I don't have an issue with my 32gb micro sdhc ultra but I do have issues with 2 sandisk flash drives note being recognized in windows 7 x64 when Kies is running.

In the linked thread on CNet there are almost as many posts "complaining" about cards from other manufacturers - the most of these about Samsung cards!!
FWIW I have two Sandisk 64gb cards and they both work fine. I just take care that they have been formatted correctly.
Makes sense. I had 2 32gb class 10 SanDisk cards die in my Note 2. Switched to a 64gb Samsung class 10 & no issues.

That is exactly what happens when people don't do the research . There is 2 different cards ( I forgot exactly how to tell them apart I think one Has little I sign on the card and one don't ) One of them is Specifically designed with digital cameras in mind and another one is Specifically designed for smartphones . And people don't look at that , they look at price . Oh and don't get me started on class . People buy class 2 card because it's cheaper and they wonder why it's not recording high-def video . DOH !!

... and too bad that doesn't matter in the least for our purposes.
Sorry, but that distinction has to do with speed and power usage; ALL Micro-SD cards have to perform according to (E)MMC specs and all Linux kernels are designed to handle all versions of the spec.
brought a 32gb sandisk 3 months ago and its been fine so far, i would buy a samsung micro sd but they are much more expensive than sandisk and never in stock when i want to buy one (they must be good cards if they are always out of stock)

I have a Samsung microsdhc plus 16gb. No problems so far.
I've been using a SanDisk 32Gb ultra class 10 for about 6 months, originally with my galaxy s3. In March, my S3 kept trying to repair the card, wouldn't read the information. Even when it finished repairing it will unmount. After restarting the phone, same thing.. Repair and unmount. Brought it to my laptop and it could barely read the information on the drive.
All My info was there but it took forever to load anything. I format the card on my Pc and it's been working ever since. Everything is backed up, so it wasn't that big of deal. Though I did lose some pictures from that day due to my sync schedule.
Using the same card now in my s4. No problems yet.
Edit* I have antivirus on my phone and computer.. Scan showed up clean on both. So I have to assume either just a bad/corrupt file or the sdcard itself had an issue. But I did find others having issues regarding the same card I have, but I read mostly 'fried' or dead cards. Mine didn't die.

[Q] Which Note 3 compatible 64GB Micro SD Card to get?

I've read mixed results with the overall Samsung Galaxy series of phones and Sandisk micro sd cards.
I was thinking of getting this 64GB Class 10 card:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/SanDisk-64GB-microSD-Class-10-Ultra-Card/23350707
But didn't know what/if any the current people already with Note 3s are using. Some people say to stick with the Samsung 64GB version as there are issues with some phones only being able to read exFat.
I just wanted to make sure that the card I buy actually works with the Note 3 when it arrives and not have to deal with returns and buying multiple makes/manufacturers of cards until I find a working one that lets me use all 64GB.
Thanks!

Maaan, you're getting the world's most fastest advanced phone that has not 1, 2, 3 but 4 world firsts on it (4K recording, 3GB ram, MicroUSB 3.0, 24bit audio), the bleeding edge of technology, and you put a ultra 64gb class 10 card in there? forget about it...step up to the big boys, you have to get this one...
(won't let me link, i removed it, but google "world's fastest microsd" and it's a sandisk card)
Its the Sandisk Extreme 64GB MicroSD card...it's the world's fastest sd card, it's stats are 80MB read, 50MB write, but actual tests have shown 96MB read,.and 61MB write, which destroys any other class 10 sd card...class 10 is 10MBps, this card is hitting 5 to 9 times that depending on read/write
Look at this review
(I cant believe they wont let me link, its by legit reviews, just google it)
It's perfect for 4K recording, USB 3.0 transfers, etc..
With those read speads you won't see the lag the ultra 64gb card have when you open gallery, and i know because i had one in my note 2 and it took a bit for it to load all my pics, bet it doesn't with this behemoth...Im selling my ultra and pony up the difference for the $99 extreme
The fastest microsd card in the world for the fastest phone in the world...perfect match...

never heard of it?
from samsung or sandisk?
I had been a Sandisk loyal user until my S4 which caused hiccups, lags, mysterious file disappearance, random reboots, unable to transfer large files and many more.....
I then switched to Transcend MicroSD on my S4 and all the above problems disappeared. I've been using an old 8GB Sandisk on my Note 3 and so far haven't experienced any problems yet. I am awaiting for the 128GB Microdisk SDHC coming out soon and really make use of that 1080p screen.

Questions like these will just invoke peoples opinions and everybody has one. Nobody will be able to tell you what is "best". They all work good and the same. Samsung make cards just fine. So does PNY, Lexar, Kingston,Transcend, etc. Me personally, I stay with the major brands. You should be fine if you do so.Sounds like you just might have a bad card.Take it back and exchange it for something else.

I am a fan of Sandisk cards. Used a 64GB micro in this phone and then moved onto a PNY card which is what currently is in my Note now. There is another thread somewhere in here, maybe Accessories, that has a great deal on MicroSD cards from Best Buy and Amazon. I would start to look this week at getting a card cause you probably can get one for a steal being that this is Black Thursday/Friday.

Basically, I'm trying to decide between a Samsung 64gb Pro sdxc class 10 or a Sandisk Extreme sdxc class 10, which is like $25 more. Am I wasting my money going the more expensive route? Will my phone even show the difference?
I was having problems with my 16 and 32G samsung cards in my note 2, when i got my note 3 i went with a 64G sandisk (had an amazon gift card to use up) and have nothing but good things to say. I tried my 32G samsung in the note 3 as well and it was hit or miss kinda like your describing
It's hit or miss. My 32 gb sandisk class 10 just stopped working last night, lost everything on the card. Im probably going with a samsung card next. There are many reports of samsung devices ruining memory cards, especially sandisk brand.

I went ahead and bought the SanDisk extreme. Just had it for a couple hours and my phone seems to be running hot. I'll keep you guys updated.
I have a Sandisk 64gb card. It did crap out on me but they replaced it and so far so good. I've never had a problem with Micro Center cards but as of right now the biggest they have is 32gb. That's my backup in case my 64gb Sandisk craps out again.

Can you do a speed test on the pny card please. There's an app on the play store called a1 sd test I think that is pretty good. I saw that card on sale for $27 so I think I'm getting it

Been running my Sandisk Extreme 64gb for a couple of days and it has not beengiving me any giving me any problems. Everything is running smooth. It doesn't seem lightning fast but it's pretty fast. Nothing impressive on my benchmark but I got it for free. If I had to pay money, I think I would go Samsung pro.
I got 22read, and 13.9 write on my PNY that I bought for $27.

S5 and SanDisk 64GB UHS-1 problems w/ camera

The first few photos went to the SD card then I get error messages saying...
http : // i807.photobucket.com/albums/yy360/sell90254/IMG_9360_zpse1bc05a4.jpg << this is the image but I'm too new to post pics.
"Unable to save file to SD card. Default storage has been changed to device memory."
So, I Googled around it it seems that this problem has popped up before but I haven't yet found a resolution.
I have the latest SanDisk 64GB UHS-1 microSD card. I thought that the problem last night was because I corrupted it by writing to it from my Windows 8 PC but I've since reformatted it with the fat32format.exe utility so that should be good.
Any advice?
I keep switching it back to the SD card but it worked for only a few hours.
My first Android device...
Maybe it's OK? Maybe my answer will help other NOOBs (like me)?
It seems that it depends on which shooting method that you use. And, I knew that because I read the entire manual while patiently waiting for what seemed like FOR-EVER for this thing to come out.
Anyway, I wasn't in one of the special "shot & more" modes so I thought it would be good but 'burst' somehow got checked and that was the problem.
:silly:
did you try formatting it?
it should work...i think its either a formatting issue or a problem with your card
Have you tried to format card in phone - be worried because I ordered the same card

YES. I did reformat the phone but learned a lot more about this.
--- THIS IS NOW A USEFUL POST ---
The problem is the version of this memory card and the exact part # and mislabeled packaging (can't post pics and URLs because I'm still too much of a NOOB to be allowed).
Here's what I wrote to the guy that I bought this from and he agreed to accept my return.
"I am so sorry to do this but the part # that you sent is different from the one you advertised and it therefore doesn't work in my Samsung Galaxy S5.
#1. The ad that I purchased from clearly said that I was buying a SDSDQUA-064G-A11A (Class 10 / UHS-1) but I instead received a SDSDQY-064G-U46A which is actually a class 6.
Regardless it is a different part #.
#2. This is documented on the SanDisk forum.
Question: Is "SDSDQY-064G-U46A" the same as "SDSDQUA-064G-A11A"?
From http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/Mobile...he-same-as-quot-SDSDQUA-064G-A11A/td-p/273971
Answer: SDSDQUA-064G-A11A is a class 10 UHS-I card in US packaging that has the android logo on it. SDSDQY-064G-U46A is a class 6 card in EU packaging #
3. I tried to use it because 64GB is 64GB but the phone requires a certain memory speed in order to support the camera and it automatically switches photos to the internal memory because the memory isn't class 10.
#4. I ran benchmark testing on my phone and confirmed the speed. The package is opened because I did try to use it but I've got all the material. Please let me know where I can send it back in order to receive a full refund."

Google for "SDSDQY-064G-U46A SDSDQUA-064G-A11A" and you will find other articles.
My solution was to buy the 'Extreme version", I know it's 2x the price but not being able to take certain types of photos or videos on my SD card is unacceptable.
Specifically...
SanDisk 64GB 64G Extreme micro SD microSDXC Card 45MB/s 300X UHS-I Class 10 +smal multifunction Case
I have seen this same complaint on forums at Amazon, eBay and NewEgg. All supplied the much slower card which I can confirm does not work in the S5.
PS Here's a picture of what I bought that says Class 10 / UHS-1 but isn't really...
Just make sure the part # ends in A11A because the one ending in U46A won't work properly in your phone.
I have the extreme plus version and it works great

Thanks.
I was pretty sure but that's EXACTLY what I wanted to know myself. I bought "extreme" and not "extreme plus" -- seems that there is a 2x difference here in speed. Hopefully the 'extreme is enough'. The lesser version of the "Ultra" (U46A) clearly is not.
I bought this one from http://www.rakuten.com/prod/sandisk-extreme-64gb-microsdhc-uhs-i-class-10-memory-card/256138497.html
and not this one from www.rakuten.com/prod/sandisk-extreme-plus-64-gb-microsdhc-class-10-uhs-i-memory-card-with/263090059.html
Some part #'s:
Extreme = SDSDQXL-064G-A46A
Extreme Plus = HK092 ???
Seems like most sites don't always list the full part # (example above) and many others list one but sell a different one like when I ordered the non-extreme version.
Hi folks iv a 32 gig sandisk worked for 2 days now s5 wont reconise it bloody pain

I have a class 4 16GB card in my S5 right now and have no issues with burst (obviously, because the phone clearly says burst writes to phone storage), 4K video, etc. I suspect your card was defective.
Will this work ok?

Im using the samsung evo 64gb micro sd card and so far no problems. Its been in the phone from day of release so maybe have a look at purchasing this card.

I've had a similar problem, it started in my S4 with the 64gb SanDisk but I thought that the camera had gone faulty! Upgraded this week to S5 and put the sd card in it and all the pictures I took were OK for a minute then went corrupt? Also noticed that I couldn't put apps on the sd so process of elimination brought me to the card. Turns out it had gone faulty but had a second one in my gopro so put it in the phone and all is working perfectly but the other card is dead and can't even format it. Not sure if this helps or similar to your experience but thought I'd share

I tried the Ultra and not Ultra-Plus. The Ultra worked for most things for me but not high speed cam/camera functions.
If you tried it please let me know.
From this point on I buy the Extreme Plus and never looked back.
