Soft Brick, Ex CgenMod - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I installed Cgen mod onto my phone, Reverted back to 4.3 firmware for Vodafone NZ from Sammobile. Used Odin, Now it is stuck at the Samsung glowing logo. So apparently a soft brick. Now i cant seem to fix it with the keis tutorials, I cant seem to get any NZ firmware. This phone was bought from a Vodafone NZ shop.. I need the firmware to flash to the phone with Odin. I have not found any that will work.
Can someone link me some firmware that will work?
Model: GT-I9505
SSN:I9505GSMH
Please can someone help, I need the phone for work tomorrow to make it even more of a mission.
Cheers

If you've flashed the firmware with Odin it should be installed. Did Odin say pass at the end of the installation? If yes, pull out the battery. Then pull in again and start in recovery. ( Vol up + Home + Power) in recovery make a factory reset. (Wipe cache, dalvik cache and data).

In Odin you should see succeeded 1 or 3 and failed 0.
If it doesn't help do the flash process one more time and untick auto reboot. Start the phone manual then:good:
Maybe the firmware download was corrupt. In this case, download the firmware again

[Q] Prob after flashing JMA

I was on JID and flashed JMA (w/ P1.pit, Re-partition on). After flashing proc SGT went back to the download screen. As Odin said it passed, I turned it off and back on. Now I get stuck in Samsung logo w/ vibrations.
Tried to flash JID back to no avail. Then I tried JJ4, which is a full flash, but Odin fails in kernel step. In other words, I'm not able to flash any other fw, just JMA and it doesn't work.
I can get into download and recovery (3e) modes. Recovery says:
"Can't mount DBDATA: your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions"
Any clue?

You need to re-flash jma, and then when you are back in download mode you flash the dbdata.rfs.tar onto pda tab again.

After you finish flashing JMA on the PDA tab of odin, you do the same with the dbdata.

And I'm also back... Thanks all for the help!
Just one more question: I noticed that PDA and CSC are empty when I do the *#1234# check... Is that normal?

Yes that is normal, if you read any of Rotohammers threads he explains it in there.
You can also flash his Roto JMA file and it will root the tab at the same time.

I am getting the same error when I try to flash back to the stock ROM and unroot my Verizon Note 3. I made the mistake of accepting the OTA update on my rooted device, did not have custom ROM or anything. The installation seemed to go okay but apparently wiped out the root. Everything was working fine but my root apps so I thought the device was essentially stock. I tried the Dela Vega Root method and it failed several attempts. So I tried flashing a stock ROM in Odin and I get the message you got. I tried downloading the stock ROM on two different occasions in case it was corrupted but still not working. Is my device bricked or is there something I can do? Any help would be appreciated.
Got my phone unbricked by following the directions in this thread. Installed pit file and my phone rebooted! Thank G-d! Was able to root with Kingo. De la vega root does not work with the firmware upgrade.

I had same issue and restored it . Follow this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2511880

You cannot go back or restore an old ROM, you have upgraded to 4.4.2 with NA6 Bootloader, so you can ONLY Run NA6 Bootloader which means you are stuck on KitKat now..
Reflash Kitkat 4.4.2 Stock and you're good to go :good:

THanksfor the replay but the tjing is when i was installing kitkat Odin came up with an error and it failed so the upgrade didn't go through. So does it mean I'm stuck with kitkat. The thing is I tried 2 other kitkat and none of them worked. So when I tried to go back to my old ROM Odin always coming up. with errors. "FAIL (Auth)"
What does that mean..... :crying:

Yeah you'll have upgraded cause it'll have installed the Bootloader then tried the ROM before the failure. -
What model/region are you using ? Is it a HK note?

But no luck it's not updating. Odin giving me errors every time
Do you have any idear when i can get a rom that can work for me
Plz
well i am using Hong Kong
1 Minute I will edit and give you link to fix your device :good:
Follow exactly these steps (I've fixed the second link.). Update progress.
METHOD
In Odin mode
1. Flash the latest cf-autoroot (Kitkat support) [http://download.chainfire.eu/352/CF-...x-smn9005.zip]
2. Flash the Chenglu's latest CWM - 6.0.4.6 (the one that supports KitKat) http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2454079
Download Sweet Rom and place it in ExtSDcard (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2487425)
I tried external sd-card with various format and could not install the ROM. After format my SD Card to FAT32, the ROM can be installed.
On Device
1. Boot in to Recovery mode by Volume up + Home + Power
2. Wipe Factory reset / Dalvik Cache
3. Format /System (under "mount and storage" menu) [IMPORTANT STEP]
4. Install Rom from SD Card
5. Say your prayer. You'll need it. (The installation could take sometimes. If the device screen shows Samsung boot animation, you're half way there)
Thanks to @rinuvimal posting here
I've updated working links here:

Don't worry, as long as you can get into recovery and download modes, there will be a solution, its only a matter of time before we zone in on a solution.
What CSC region phone do you have? Dial *#1234# and check what the CSC code is. Also how much storage do you have on your phone 16Gb or 32GB?

My phone just suddenly stopped working earlier today.it was running the latest omega rom with the latest modem and boot loader. ...
I cant get into recovery either. When I try it just reboots and goes to the samsung boot screen.my phone is a sim free insurance replacement and im not sure what stock rom to flash...
Could some nice soul just tell me the exact rom thats needed.
Its a uk based I9505 .
Please some one help as im away from home atm and have no way of contacting anyone.i have laptop and a dongle so can at least download and flash.
What ever has happened has corrupted it somehow.
I can still get into download mode how ever.
Id be eternally grateful if there is some nice soul to.help me
Just download and flash this with the latest Odin. Boot in download mode.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=33356
This is the latest German FW that Omega is based. It has the "OXA" Multi-CSC, which also includes BTU (United Kingdom)
After flash you will not have any problem retrieving all your data, as long as you don't factory reset.

If it remains on the Samsung boot logo, then try to flash the same firmware with the .pit file and "Re-Partition" flag checked in Odin.
If still doesn't boot, then you have to enter recovery mode to wipe data/factory reset the device

- Boot into downloadmode and connect to the pc
- Untick Auto Reboot in Odin 3.09 and place the rom in AP
- Hit start and when done pull the battery
- Boot into recovery and data factory reset and boot.

I started TeamViewer, start yours and give me your Partner-ID through PM
This problem is still happening, anyone else know what may be the problem? It seems as if it is Chinese, could it be a fake?

If you bought yours from a reputable seller, you don't have to worry about this but there are some fake galaxy s5 around. There are some differences that you can observe.
Hopefully this is not the case with yours.

Well I bought it from amazon. It seemed legit and it looks legit for the most part except the sticker on the inside behind the battery where it says g900f is in Chinese and I heard its not supposed to be.
And I teamviewed with gee , he made sure everything in Odin was set up correctly. It was, we thought maybe the file was corrupt so I download it again from another source and it didn't help.
Any ideas on how I can fix this assuming it is not. Fake?

[Q] Note 3 N9005 Not booting! HELP!

Hi
I just got a Note 3 N9005 out of the box!
When i turned it on every thing was fine but there was no IMEI(Unkown) but the baseband etc was fine.
When i tried to make a call it said not registered on network; So i flashed a modem then the phone boots up but the problem resists!
Then i flashed some other modems but nothing happens! Then i did a hard reset(Recovery--->Factory reset data & wipe cache partition) & the Phone didn't boot!
It's Always stucked on the Galaxy Note 3 logo restarts(boot loop); When i take off the battery for some time and put it back on it boots to the SAMSUNG logo (there are some parasites on this screen)or some times straight to the recovery and stucks till it restarts and boot loop...
Itried:
1.Flashing Rom via Odin
2.Flashing 4 file Rom via Odin
3.Flashing Rom with PIT file via Odin
Please help me! It's very urgent!
Erm....wipe system, data and cache then try re flashing via odin.
I did that!
But when i do that i should reflash it and then boot loop!

Erm....why was you changing the modem in the first place? In the firmware package you should have 3 .tar files. One for system, one for CSC, one for modem. If you dont, try finding a software package that has all these individual files as opposed to just flashing the pda file. In future, try not to mess about with stuff unless you know how to fix it buddy otherwise you'll just end up in the situation you're in now. If what i suggested above doesnt work....a trip to the service centre might be your only option, if knox has been triggered, they might not repair it. Be prepared for disappointment.
