what?
I just want to be safe cause i've already bricked one phone
I don't want to brick another one because I didn't ask....

guys it's pretty urgent :C

just do it and sit still, u should be about to reflash if it fails i have a cheap cable that wasnt up to it and i managed too on numerous occasions

Since you thought my last post was harshly done. And since you have bricked once...there is always a chance of bricking as you know. My suggestion is to read, read and understand before hand. And have a back up plan in place...use oem cables and the part of power issues in your area, that is on you to take the chance.
Judgment is near.....

That's exactly why I opened this thread im looking for answers, I searched XDA for this situation already.
now I checked my software and everything is a match
so the updating itself won't brick my phone
but my question is if the process fail or stop suddenly
will my LG G2 get messed up and won't be able to return to
download mode?
that's my question....
I honestly don't do it for me, its for my dad but he's too scared and he said if i get his LG G2 to 4.4.2 ill get his HTC one
but i told him it's the only way cause we bought the LG G2 from someone off ebay and we're over seas so we can't update
through ota since the phone itself isn't registered (it says the phone isn't registered yet) and we can't get our hands on an active att sim
so I'll be glad for any information about the LG FLASH TOOLS and I hope you can help me too.

Bricked my Rogers Dream.

So tonight I was feeling good and decided to try messing around with my Rogers Dream. The first thing I did was install the latest radio firmware. And after applying the patch I noticed something... the radio and SPL should already be updated because I followed H's instructions on rooting the phone. I prayed that I was wrong. I looked on the Rogers logo as I was booting my phone as a wave of horror washed over me. It's bricked.
Ok, that was dumb. But let's move on. Any suggestions on what I should do? I've looked around and the impression I get is there is no way to unbrick it. Now if I'm completely wrong then I would be most grateful if someone could direct me to instructions for unbricking my phone. If not, I'm going to try sending it back to Rogers... which I don't look forward to doing.
If they don't fix it then would a bricked Rogers Dream help anyone? I'm willing to send it over to anyone who could make use of it.
Edit:
holdennull said:
Yeah, I did. I'm pretty sure it's bricked. However, I just got off the phone with Rogers, after they told me to take out the battery and put it back in and hold HOME and POWER. I did as I was told, pretending that I haven't the slightest clue. Now they're sending me a new phone and I have to send mine back so they can check for water damages and stuff; hopefully they don't bother to check for my tampering and then do something horrible to me for doing so.
Thanks a lot for the input guys. Sorry for wasting your time.

Bad idea... water damage is not covered by warranty so he will get charged full price of the device. "Bricked" phone will be revived by HTC and will be sold or set out as a warranty replacements. T-mo users have had their share of bricks so we have an idea of how it works
On the side note.... HTC Dream will most likely survive water damage if you let it dry for about a week. Well, at least my phone did
Aren't there water tamper stickers in these phones? They change colour when exposed to water, so Rogers would find out easily if there is the possibility of water damage.
Hi holdennull,
I have rogers G1 bricked while doing SPL upgrade talk to rogers tech support and they ask me to send the phone and they will send me the replacment, but I have same question that did you charged for tempering or rogers only look for physical and water damanges.
Please advise

[Bricked] Did the most stupid thing ever....

hey guys, you probably know me im not a noob but i honestly did the most stupid thing ever... i was having problems with my radio image, it was showing as unknown under settings/about phone so i had no signal at all. I went to fastboot and erased radio then flashed it again, rebooted and got the same... theen i thought it was spl related, so i went to fastboot again erased everything (fastboot erase system -w) then erased hboot (yeah i know im an idiot) and then erased/flashed radio (here comes the good part, laugh if you want) when it was done flashing radio I F*CKING TURNED THE PHONE OFF so now im bricked... i have no spl or recovery or fastboot or rom or anything... maybe radio xD.... and im sooo upsad, you have no idea guys... so i think thats it for me and android since i dont have money to buy a new phone right now. just keep the forum up, this is by far the best forum there is, the best devs, great comunnity and awesome support from everybody. maybe ill be steping by to see if i can help anyone, maybe they wont take my advice since i bricked my s**t but thats up to you n_n... im gonna go cry now peace..

This is really sad. I bricked my phone ones too. i had death spl and new radio and happen to flash 1.5 cupcake rom with old radio and got bricked. I was lucky enough though coz i had a friend who totally smashed the display of his phone and was not willing to fix that. I got his phone dissasembled it, got the motherboard from his phone and hooked to mine. And its working good now.

As long as the RADIO is there, it is still salvageable. JTAG hardware can be acquired for about $2.

I am sure I need method #3. My phone is totally dead.
Where can I take my phone go get this repair method done?
I bricked my phone. Fully bricked, no 3button or anything. screen blank no matter what i did etc etc
took it to optus (it was rooted so out of warranty apparently, but they weren't to know that) and said it just wouldn't turn on. They didn't even ask how it happened (had planned to say tried to update it with kies and it just wouldn't turn on) anyways they were just like 'hmmm yeah... not turning on, that's manufacturers problem. We'll send it to them and they'll have a look. Sign this and this and this.'
less than a week later i got a call from them and had my phone back working like nothing happened. All apps and data still there.
easy

[Q] hard bricked

today i accepted an OTA update,
i was previously root with an unlocked BL. i RDS lite back to facotry and i was unrooted, therefore thought it safe to
install update. the phone now wont turn on, no matter the combination of buttons.
i know it has a charge its been on the charger forever. no LED light of any kind, and plugging it by usb to PC has no results either.
im pretty sure i hard bricked this device.
at any rate i cant get a warranty for two reasons :
1. unlocked BL
2. denied replacement dude to crack in back glass..
so im a SOL?????
I havent heard of this procedure bricking anyone else, so maybe your phone just thinks the battery is dead. Team Black Hats factory adapter may fix this for you.
If it bricked because of the update, it's the provider's fault, so they should cover it. However, me thinks there is more to this story.
Sent from my Droid Razr M using xda app-developers app
Theres nothing more to the story.
It was on charge all night with the stock charger.. Nothing.
Phone was rooted I unrooted it. Boot loader still unlocked.
I accepted the ota and it won't do anything. I was denied a warranty replacement in store because the back glass has a crack.
Anyway the device is useless I bought an s4 today. And I'm selling the RAZR M to the highest bidder.

There's no attacking. Before we even had chance to help you, you scrapped the phone and went and bought another one. When you originally posted, you didn't give any details to help us out. Personally, I don't believe only the OTA would cause a brick, but as we all know, no one cares what I think.
If your battery is good, you should be able to get into your recovery menu and restore your backup. If you can't do that, you might try to get into the fastboot menu and fastboot back to stock. If you hold the power button, volume down, and volume up at that same time, you should be able to get into the fastboot menu. When in the menu, scroll down with vol- button and choose your choice by hitting the vol+ button. If you can't get the phone to boot into FB, then you are probably stuck. However, if you can get into recovery and/or fastboot, you don't have a brick.

As much as I enjoy being "smarmy", I'll try to ease up so I don't hurt some kids feelings.
Dear rikrong.
First. Please read I supplied every detail I can absolutely express about my phone and what happened.
Second I do important business and there's no point in tying up time in waiting for a fix to my phone when I can get a new one. Why waste the time when I was expecting a customer to call about a $5000 job?
I'm not "some kid" and unlike you I have business to do and don't have time to troll on a forum for people seeking help with their devices. Hold your tongue and don't pass judgment on someone you don't know.
And don't worry about hurting my feelings. I GUARANTEE you don't have the mental capacity to offend me, friend.
I would like to revive the device and donate it to a family member or friend who could make better use of it than I.
To wrap this up, no button combos or ANYTHING will turn the device on, it literally is a brick, I heard of JTAG and this may be the route I will take..

Well, that's nice, you tell me not to attack you and you come right back at me. I tried to tie it up in my last post and offer some help, but I guess you didn't get it. If you think I'm trolling, you need to put on your big girl panties and take a look at the other forums that aren't super newb friendly like these tech forums. I tried to offer peace, but you came right back at me. I also have plenty of of business to take care of every day. It just so happens that I like to come to these forums when I'm at home and finished busting my knuckles at work.
I tried to offer some help, after realizing how I did come off as an ass in my original post, but you fired right back at me. So,have fun.
I stand my my recommendation in post #2. It doesnt make sense that this procedure would brick your phone so my feeling is that its not bricked. I had a similar experience with my D2G back in day. For $10 team black hats factory adapter is worth a shot. Even if you stick with the S fixing your XT907 will fetch you more money on the market.

I think you really just need to play dumb and say you don't know what happened. One minute you were using it and the next thing you know it's bricked. Try not to raise too many questions and they'll give you the benefit of the doubt, unless they find that it's rooted.

hm yeah, I cant send it back to LG due to not having original receipt im going to have to take it back to where i got it from it says it doesn't cover "firmware changes such as rooting or 3rd party unlocking" thats why i was thinking if i said the phone shut off during the update progress it might seem the battery was faulty or somesort as it was updating and it corrupted everything or something? I know what you mean about acting dumb, hmm
