Hello, cant find any other thread about viber in search bar so decided to post a thread. Viber doesnt ring on incoming calls, Tried to stay connected in sleepmode (from WiFi's advanced menu), viber has been minimized, also allowed in background tasks AND turning off battery saver, WHICH helped but not at all - it RINGS till i connect to other network, after that - it doesnt. Can you give me any other possibilities? ? ?
In addition - i always test these incoming calls after at least 20 minutes asleep mode.
Not our problem.

There is a problem with skype as well (and other VoIP applications as i see in i-net) so yes - its a problem with the windows platform, not just a coincidence . I was looking for solution everywhere, cant find one, hope here will find some, its xda after all. And figured recently that my thread is in the wrong forum, so please move it to windows phone 8 forum in General discussion.

At moments like this I wonder isn't the issue that obvious, the developers don't notice it themselves. Same with Skype. Everybody is happy not receiving calls?

The idea is: Radio consumes not unsignificant battery power, especially when you're travelling. Sometimes you dont have to be available for calls...
LongRunner turns off the radio part and keep that for defined time interval. Then it automatically sync all POP/IMAP accounts, the On interval should be long enough to even receive SMS.
Download
LongRunner.cab
(Tested on smartphone platform only, however it should work on PPC's too)
What do you think of this idea? Can it save any battery power? Can this be useful for anyone? Should I work on this or delete the project?
that's BRILLIANT!
thank you!
(Does that answer your questions? )
btw, the mail check thingy isn't necessary for everyone.. i suggest having the option to check mail and not make it the only option.
I'm currently not home to try and test this (Happy Thanksgiving everyone) but this is a great idea! I cannot wait to test this and please do continue development!
really great idea ! keep develop this project
i think it's a good idea too... i'll test it next week...
Any plans to support FlexMail sync? If you need, I can get the command FM uses to sync.
when i click start nothing happens.
Will the phone wake up automatically when someone is calling ?

If the purpose of the app is to disable the radio, hence incoming calls, then I would imagine No - it won't ring.
This is a cool Idea!
great idea as i would defenenetly use for sms.... but it is not working on my kaiser.
Will watch for updates
Whats the difference between setting to "flight mode" when no need to be avail.?
this one is automatic and will check your mail after a specific time interval...
so that you don't need to remember to put your phone on flight mode and then back.

i believe that wont happen, since sms uses radio.
this is for emails only.
correct me if im wrong OP!
It's not for emails only. SMS's and calls are the same thing. when you turn your radio back on you'll receive your messages. Emails have to be checked manually as they don't depend on the network, that's why he added the option to check emails when the radio's turned back on.
I clicked on start and nothing happened.
I have a Sprint Touch Diamond.
Make it a little a clear:
When radio off - How will incoming calls be received ?
SMS may be recd as and when I put my radio active.

you won't get incomming calls. all this does is allow you to set intervals for the radio to be turned on so that you can download your emails and sms.
i think this is what the app does
1 it disables the radio to save your battery(will disable both messages and calls)
2 it will enable the radio for a short period and check for messages
3 after the checking is done it will turn off radio again
My Tilt runs 40 hours on a charge with Flexmail running with online IMAP on 2 folders and periodically syncing 4 others. With Flexmail off, I imagine it would run well over 100 hours.
Doesn't seem like battery life is a big deal to me.. If your battery is running over 3-4%/hr, it's because of a lot of calls and or data and I don't see this program helping much in that direction.
Hi there.
Searched around but couldnt find a thread about this.
I got Touch-IT Xperience v2.2 on my x1 and the problem is, when i smschat with someone and then, we say, after 10 messages exit the chat, I will get notifications in the menu about those 10 messages i already read in the chat. To get rid of them I have to go in and out 10 times. Maybe it's a known problem?
regards
assuming that those are the notifications you talk about:
you can turn off the notifications in the advanced config tool. under messaging i think.
I wouldnt mind being able to switch the notifications off either, cant find the advanced config though for messages...

You are talking about message sent notifications. I turned of those with xperia tweaks and thats not a problem anymore.
Im talkin about, when i chat, smschat ill, lets say, get around 3 messages. like this:
Me: Hi!
mate(new message): hi man
Me: whatsup?!?
mate(new message): im fine, u?
Me: im alrgityyyy
mate(new message): good for u man.
and NOW i leave chatsms. in the menu, in touch it it will notify me that i got 3 new messages. the problem is, all 3 are those i already read (from mate above).
To get rid of this, i need to re-enter his sms 3 times. there is any solution?
Is there any way to have the HTC Vogue repeatedly alert me to missed calls, voice mail, and sms until acknowledged, or repeat the alert a certain number of times over say 15 minutes or 5 minutes....like that ?
Right now the alert goes off once, and if I don't hear it, often do not know a message is there until I take the phone out of sleep mode to use it.
I have browsed through the settings and see no option for doing so.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
QnA
Try searching android market there is probably an app for that
Lol I love how you assumed he's using android
His sig says:
"Sprint HTC Touch (Vogue)
Win Mobile 6.1
Std. Radio
'Factory' guy"
So I'd assume he's using WM6.1...
I don't think there is a way to do that in WM but I could be wrong I haven't used it for a while now.
Messsaging
No problem....
jame meant well. Someone in the forum will come up with a way to do it.
Finally "Viber" is released on android.. All my mates with iphones use it and its a really cool cross-platform app.
"Viber is an application for iPhone® and Android™ phones that lets you make free phone calls and send text messages to anyone who also has the application installed.
You can call or text any Viber user, anywhere in the world, for free. Viber integrates seamlessly with your existing address book, has great sound quality and once activated, does not require a PIN, username or any additional "in application" purchase. All Viber features are 100% FREE!"

A really cool app,but I have some questions!
1.Do I have to be connected to the internet, via wifi or 3G?Does it consume my 3G data when connected via 3G?
2.How much Megabytes does a typical call cost approximately?
Nice. I ll try it today.
I was testing the Beta before. Great...but you need wlan for a good Performance

Woah!
This looks fantastic!
Got it installed now all I need are some friends to talk to with it

Hi m8, you do need a data connection and according to the folks at viber it uses approximately 240 KB per minute up and down, 14 MB per hour up and down. I'd assume that is under ideal conditions (dont know what they are tho). i've heard it works way better on wifi than 3g..

Hi m8, not sure of the exact differences but heres some general ones..
1. Viber’s interface is very easy to use – it looks completely similar to the iPhone basic application, and this makes a huge difference for most users in the world. Simple elegance is what works.
2. Viber does not require login/password in order to log in, unlike the great majority of VoIP applications today, but instead it uses the user’s original cellular phone number. This makes the registration process very quick, and helps users find other friends who have Viber very easily. This way more and more friends recommend each other to install Viber, and have free calls.
3. Finally, Viber doesn’t have to be open when receiving a call, thanks to Viber’s support of Push Notifications feature. This means that Viber saves battery, and that users are always available to receive Viber’s free calls.
not working on my sg3
Not sure why but SMS works, I can hear but no one can hear me. Have used wifi. Now even linphone does not work (even echo calibration fails).
Am on JP4 with g3mod 1.3.2 performance. Am not able to find the issue here. Phone works but any voip app does not.
Is there anything I am missing here. Voice search works but voice dial does not hear me either.
UART and USB are both set to PDA (not sure if that had anything to do here) and dev mode is ON.
Hmm I'll try this with some friends
Hi,

You should post this comment under the comments section of the viber app on the android market because the OP is not the developer for viber.
From what I've seen of this app, it works pretty well, but I'd recommend What's App. I wonder if they both connect to the IOS version of this, not many of my friends have Android phones
I'm certain I had seen an app either here or on the Nexus S forum ... went through 16 pages, but couldn't find it
The app I'm looking for is sort of like a notification app. When I receive a call on my phone and my phone is not within sight, a notification is send to all wifi enabled devices on the same network. For example, my phone rings and I get a pop up on my pc or maybe my smartphone notifying me!
Can someone help .... please?
Thank you
Could it be the Android Notifier, perhaps?
http://code.google.com/p/android-notifier/
It will send you alerts on your computer of a text message, call, et cetera.
Hey! I think that is the one Thanks a ton for the info!
