Looking for an app - Please help - Nexus S General

I'm certain I had seen an app either here or on the Nexus S forum ... went through 16 pages, but couldn't find it
The app I'm looking for is sort of like a notification app. When I receive a call on my phone and my phone is not within sight, a notification is send to all wifi enabled devices on the same network. For example, my phone rings and I get a pop up on my pc or maybe my smartphone notifying me!
Can someone help .... please?
Thank you

Could it be the Android Notifier, perhaps?
http://code.google.com/p/android-notifier/
It will send you alerts on your computer of a text message, call, et cetera.

Hey! I think that is the one Thanks a ton for the info!

snoopers!

Don't you just hate snoopers. I mean people leaning over on the bus and peering over your shoulder at your text messages as you access your text inbox on your jasjar.
Wouldn't it be nice to just turn that auto preview off on text and email messages someway, somehow?
People, be careful in London, those snoopers may be more interested in your JJ/Exec/MDA/VPA/M5000 then your messages!
Hey, London's not that bad!
tell u what jah, I'm more worried about my messages than my jasjar, although someone would have to be very very brave to try anything with me,
anyway I'm actually always in the car with it, I would like some real super duper voice activation software, I know of all the standard ones but I found on my xda fonix was the best, by the wa any ideas how to turn the autopreview of messages off by the way
Anyone who snoops is risking a fat lip from me.
Nobody has any interest in the content of your messages.
They are only considering how many of them its going to take to hold you down while they mug you.
I usually give them full eye contact and ask solidly if they'd mind f** off.
It usually does the trick.
Also beware of the honey trap snooper gaff. ie. attractive lady snoops as a means to get into a conversation. She then starts asking questions about you, your life, where you live, what you do etc.
I've known people who've lost everything to gangs in this way.
And no, I am not exaggerating.
Where is the auto preview? Can someone post a screenshot? I've never used my universal for messages, so I've no idea how it looks. I'll see if anything can be done about it if it's possible.

Isn't it just a case of turning off "display" in the notification settings for New SMS messages? I set it up for my CAR profile on PocketZenPhone and it works a treat, so it should just show the notification icon, but NOT display the message bubble.

Haha!!
hi guys, ok I've taken some time to catch up with the thread that I posted on snoopers and auto preview.
I think there's been a bit of confusion on the definition of auto preview. let me explain
When you access your messages be it text messages, mms or email, you will notice that when you go to inbox, the messages are displayed showing you the sender, directly underneath the sender you will see the message contents without actually entering the message.
I suppose its exactly like outlook where there is an option to show you the message directly underneath the subject line and not in a separate preview window.
I basically want to turn this option off as by default wm 05 shows you the message without opening it.
Help appreciated
Cheers guys

[Q] record sent sms

ok noobie question i know but im not finding my answer anywhere.
I am working on an app the details are not important for this question except, the app will send sms messages and i want to record them into the conversion as a normally sent message would be. can anybody point me in the right direction? I have worked out the receiving, sending, reading etc.. but for the life of me cannot figure out how to add the sent ones into the normal message lists as if the user had sent it.
Also, how do i get a standing icon in the notification bar when the app is running in the background? i can send notifications no problem but have not figured out how to leave the icon up there when backgrounded.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Exact code not required but just a generic idea of how to do it or the calls needed and i will figure it out from there.
Thanks for you time, help and patience in advance.
emmmmm i had an app like that. fake sms i think

[Q] Cyanogenmod SMS-app doesn't alert MMS when data's off

Hi!
I use the Cyanogenmod ROM, been using it since the nightlies of the 6.0-version, but one thing has been bothering me..
I don't have a full plan for data; I pay for what I use, so I have data disabled - and enables it whenever I need it.
However, when someone sends me a MMS, my phone recieves it (with a "download now"-button) like it's supposed to do, BUT! There are no way of knowing this. It doesn't notify, no sound, no flash, nothing in the notification area, I have to randomly open the app and suddenly see that I've recieved an unread message from someone..
Anyone else experiencing this? Any settings I've overseen? Thanks in advance!
Poke around in the settings for the messaging app, see what you find It could be that Android only notifies when it's downloaded the message
Thanks for tip, but I've already poked around in the settings :/ Just wondering if it's a bug, or if it's the SMS/MMS-app itself. Thanks for replying, though!
Hmmm. I don't use mms stuff, so I can't be of much more help. Sorry

[Q] Auto Forward Text Messages 3G nexus 7

Hi,
I have recently been given a work phone and don't want to carry two phones.
I would like to keep my personal number so will continue that contract. I will set my carrier setting to auto forward calls to my work phone, but I would like a way to auto-forward SMS (text) messages to my work number, or email.
I have a nexus 7 3g and this seems like a good device to use as I can then still make use of my personal phone contract's internet access.
I installed the mms.apk app (thread found else where in this forum) and can now send and receive texts from my Nexus 7. But as it is not with me every day I want an automated way to get SMS messages to another number of email.
Does anyone know of an app which will let me auto forward SMS messages to a different number or to email? I'm happy to pay for the outbound message cost, but the only app I have found which *claims* compatibility is phoneleash and it does not forward anything.
Does anyone have a suggestion for how I can accomplish this?
Thanks
T.
You could just use an app that sends texts to the tablet like Cloud SMS. Then you could turn off the notifications on the phone.

Thanks for the reply, but I think I have not been clear with my request.
I have a personal contract which my friends know the number for.
I want to keep this SIM in my tablet but forward any SMS message sent to my personal number to a work phone, so that I can just carry the work phone.
I have found Auto SMS since my last update, but this is not compatible with the nexus 7. I will see if there is a way to get this app to work.
I will update if I get any further.

have you try mighty text? try that one first
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the further replies here.
I don't think mighty text will work, it seems to be a way to read and reply to texts received on your phone, but handled by a tablet or computer as the viewing device.
I need a way to auto forward SMS messages to a different number.
Regards
Tony.
Progress
OK, I installed auto SMS onto my touchpad and then used titanium backup to extract the application.
I've side loaded this onto my nexus 7 and so far my tests have been successful.
The auto forwarded text messages come through as
<0123 123123> Mr FirstName SecondName: Content of message
I can either call the originator back, or switch to a new message and reply back directly via SMS from the work phone.
Thanks
T.

I have the same problem as you, but I can't find auto SMS or extract the application (Nexus 7 is my only Android device).
Can you please share it somehow?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: in meanwhile I found and installed it, works well

My sent SMS messages arrive on a receiving Android with URGENT in the title (Verizon)

It seems like I'm sending SMS as URGENT. The receiving Android user sees an URGENT header on their notification screen, but everything looks normal in their messaging app. I have tried the default Messaging app along with the Google one (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.messaging), but there is no difference. I can't find a setting anywhere to choose to purposely send an URGENT-tagged message.
Could this have something to do with the CDMA-less activation?
Sometimes it's hard to screenshot other people's phones, so I'll have to do a little more research...

Interesting... I'll give it a shot. Any key words you found that sped that process along?
