[Q] record sent sms - Android Software Development

ok noobie question i know but im not finding my answer anywhere.
I am working on an app the details are not important for this question except, the app will send sms messages and i want to record them into the conversion as a normally sent message would be. can anybody point me in the right direction? I have worked out the receiving, sending, reading etc.. but for the life of me cannot figure out how to add the sent ones into the normal message lists as if the user had sent it.
Also, how do i get a standing icon in the notification bar when the app is running in the background? i can send notifications no problem but have not figured out how to leave the icon up there when backgrounded.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Exact code not required but just a generic idea of how to do it or the calls needed and i will figure it out from there.
Thanks for you time, help and patience in advance.

emmmmm i had an app like that. fake sms i think

std messaging app with better functions?

Hey everyone,
I have had a bit of a google, but i was wondering if anyone had adapted the standard messaging app on android to have better functionality in regards to sending messages.
Cause when i have sent messages and it did not send there isnt really anything showing which message did not send, and i have found the only way to work it out is to long press each msg and see which one still has 'edit' available.
I know in handcent it pops up a thing saying not sent and gives you an option to retry.
i dont get why the standard one doesnt give you an easy way to retry?
am i missing something here?
Thanks

[Q] Cyanogenmod SMS-app doesn't alert MMS when data's off

Hi!
I use the Cyanogenmod ROM, been using it since the nightlies of the 6.0-version, but one thing has been bothering me..
I don't have a full plan for data; I pay for what I use, so I have data disabled - and enables it whenever I need it.
However, when someone sends me a MMS, my phone recieves it (with a "download now"-button) like it's supposed to do, BUT! There are no way of knowing this. It doesn't notify, no sound, no flash, nothing in the notification area, I have to randomly open the app and suddenly see that I've recieved an unread message from someone..
Anyone else experiencing this? Any settings I've overseen? Thanks in advance!
Poke around in the settings for the messaging app, see what you find It could be that Android only notifies when it's downloaded the message
Thanks for tip, but I've already poked around in the settings :/ Just wondering if it's a bug, or if it's the SMS/MMS-app itself. Thanks for replying, though!
Hmmm. I don't use mms stuff, so I can't be of much more help. Sorry

Looking for an app - Please help

I'm certain I had seen an app either here or on the Nexus S forum ... went through 16 pages, but couldn't find it
The app I'm looking for is sort of like a notification app. When I receive a call on my phone and my phone is not within sight, a notification is send to all wifi enabled devices on the same network. For example, my phone rings and I get a pop up on my pc or maybe my smartphone notifying me!
Can someone help .... please?
Thank you
Could it be the Android Notifier, perhaps?
http://code.google.com/p/android-notifier/
It will send you alerts on your computer of a text message, call, et cetera.
Hey! I think that is the one Thanks a ton for the info!

SMS received on my N7 ?

Hello,
I have an 3G N7 and know that it can not receive / send SMS. OK, that is what was told of.
But today I got a notification that I have a message in notification bar, opened it and it looked like a regular SMS message.
Then I tested myself, I sent a normal SMS to my tablet gsm number and received it instantly. I'm on Vodafone if that makes any sense.
Build number is JDQ39 - baseband 1231_0.17.0_1205, Kernel 3.1.10-g05b777c.
Obviously this is some app inside that handles the received message, what's the app name ? location ? at least is interesting to know that at least SMS I can receive. How can I access it ?
Best regards,
Radu
Hi, i also have the same question. Anybody knows?

Download Go sms from store.
Google Voice works great on the N7 for sending and receiving sms, also. Sms works over wifi or data.
I maybe not beein too explicit.
I have received two SMS, regular kind, sent through my gsm carrier.
As i received them, means there is some app that recognise it and can handle the sms.
Question is, what is the app, how can i acces the messages received.
I'm aware of various solutions for sms that require to have an online account, in order to handle sms, do not want to use this kind of service.
Also, there is hack to install sms/mms apk by rooting, but, again this is not the object of my question.
I just want to check my incoming sms's for now.
Best regards,
Radu
Like mentioned above, if you install gosms or any other third party app it should allow you to view that text message that came through the carrier

Long press the notification and press "App Info" and that will tell you the name of the app.
Hello again,
Here is screenshot and detaild of the app.
As it says it receives SMS, but also can write SMS- see last line, in theory.
Question is, where can find this app. Looks to be hidden..

How to do so with stock mms.apk has already been covered here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34282107
Right in the N7 3G dev section. XDA search function is highly recommended

Hello Rebel,
I know the MMS.APK, saw it, thank you for heads up.
My specific question is, why should I use that, if I have an app already installed. I do get SMSs from any regular gsm phone, without being necessary to create an online account for GOSMSPRO or whatever similar. The screen shot says that I might be able to send also, on my cost SMSs. No probIem, just want to find that app that handles the SMS received. Can I do that ? can I send using same app that is ALREADY installed?
thank you for patience

So it seems the 'Simple message receiver' is an app that comes with the 3g N7. Mine is just wi-fi, so I can't check, but does your app drawer have that app? If you check Settings > Apps > All, is it listed there? I have no idea how to open it if it is not in the app drawer or if you would be able to send using it anyway. Interesting that it is included in the 3G version.

Yes. As thw thread states, they are successfully receiving and sending sms from the same app over gsm, just as you would on a phone. The only difference i forsee is doing so with a dedicated data sim, or using the sim from your existing phone.
Many are using the latter, and using other apps to forward thier phone calls to the data side, and using sms normally.

[Q] Group Messaging

Morning All. I was wondering is there a way I can group message and receive individual responses from others? I sent out a massive text one time and a friend of mine with a iPhone kept getting message from everyone else I sent the same message to. Any suggestions? It was quite embarrassing when that happened.

That is strange. I usually will text multiple peeps via email client and will receive a response from just one and it only comes to me. I have also text multiple peeps in the past and never heard of anyone getting others responses but who knows. I will have to test that
What messaging app are you using? I'm using the stock app and just adding multiple contacts individually. Not sure if this can be done but do you have groups set up that can be added in the messaging app? If so, this may be the difference. Sorry, I'm not a huge text user but will try to help if I can.
The SGS3 has that, SGS4 and iPhone. If you place several contacts in one text message they will all receive the original message but everyone else will get each others response. Person A sends Person B and C "Hello" in one text. B and C receive. C responds "Hey" and B also receives "Hey" as well. It does get annoying. My son was born last month and I sent a massive picture text, everyone received everyone's text response. So yeah....that is annoying. There is nothing under the settings for both phone and text for this. And I've spent a good 24 hours searching for a solution and nothing..... Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
P.S. Messaging app used is the stock SMS app for the Samsung phone.
