i know that i need to use the modem for n9005x in order to have wifi.
but i want to be sure if i can brick my phone.
thanks in advance and sorry for my english
Normal firmware doesn't play nice with Demo units. In short yes it'll softbrick your device.
I flashed note 3 live demo with stock rom

Hi
I have flashed stock rom onto a n9005x live demo unit and mostly it works ok, the only things that dont work are phone, and video playback when streaming video. I am assuming that this is because the modem.bin file that is part of the stock rom is programmed for mobile support whilst the device is linked via wifi for boost, so when the device tries to access this function by default it errors and causes the device to crash.
I tried verious apps for playback over internet access via wifi but all apps crash.
I have tried other firmwares that people have claimed to work but then I have found that the volume controls and or sound stop working, again I am assuming that this is because the modem.bin file has other functional uses other than just for wifi and phone function, It may also modulate the sound to the speakers.
I am still looking for the original firmware that came from the demo unit as I did not have the tools at the time to backup the current demo software off the note 3 and so I am a bit stuck with a demo unit that will not playback video.
Hi
I just want to share my experience.
I got Note 3 LDU & flashed it with N9005 ROM from sammobile & it works(sort off). it restarts when I open a game or youtube ones or twice then works fine.

I HAVE THE SAME LIVE DEMO WITH MODEL: N900X . I HAVE FOLLOWED THIS METHOD AND IT WORKED FOR ME AND I HOPE THAT IT WILL WORK FOR YOU TOO. :fingers-crossed:
***NOTE:*** THIS METHOD IS ONLY APPLICABLE FOR SNAPDRAGON (800) VARIANT OF GALAXY NOTE 3(LIVE DEMO)
AFTERMATH: DEVICE IS COVERTED TO N9005(hlte). HOWEVER, SINCE THE DEMO UNIT DOES NOT HAVE A MODEM(HARDWARE) ,SIM WILL NOT WORK. :crying:
STEPS:
1. Download odin: https://odindownload.com/download/Odin3_v3.14.1.zip
2. Firmware: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24438995911968348
3. pit file: https://mega.nz/#!icE1iaIA!5lRGeVAPHMk651zH0HFGOIS6_iucKRKYme0v7ieGrR0
4. Extract all the contents of the firmware.zip
5. Connect the phone in download mode.
6. Run odin
7. Go to the PIT section(click OK for the popup)
8. Locate your downloaded pit file by clicking on "PIT" option.
9. Click on options tab
10. select "Re-Partition"
11. press start
12. remove the battery and repeat step 5.
13. Open odin select AP and start.
14. Repeat step 12 (flash rest of the files(Bl,CP,CSC) by repeating
step 12 after each flash)
15. WALLAH! you're all done. :silly:

Hello, i own a 9505x not a normal 9505, and flashing the existing custom recoveries, do nothing, since i cant boot them.
The root works fine.
Since this 9505x is a demo unit, it has some software restrictions i want to eliminate, like it wont turn off the screen and will keep on playing a Samsung demo, it wont take over 20seconds videos and some other annoying stuff, i am trying to make it a retail unit.
Any suggestions ?
Why did you post this here in "Android Development"?
Can some admin post it in q and a?
Noone owns one?
same here mate!
i got my hands on a i9505X at work (with sim tray and mmc slot) but i can't deactivate demo (retail) mode. everytime you poweroff the device it wipes every change.
it tried flashed a i9505 stock rom via Odin and it fails in the modem.bin part...
i was sucesslfull at rooting the device, but now my i9505X takes ages to boot (stuck in Samsung Galaxy S4 for a while) and has no wifi
i tried almost every i9050 kernel available with no luck...
any ideas?

Its working, i just messed up the recovery mode by flashing a i9505 recovery and now i cant restore it. I want to unroot it and flash the mew firmware from kies. Thats why i need the stock recovery
Any chance you can extract the stock firmware for your GT-I9505X and upload it please. I have the same device given to me by a Samsung Rep and I stupidly tried to install the stock formware for the i9500 varient and now its had it. It loads the samsung boot screen as soon as you turn it on and then just keeps restarting every 5 seconds. Im hoping if I can get hold of the original firmware and reflash it will work! Cant find the firmware anywhere!

I have read that people flashed stock i9505 NOT i9505x rom via odin. After that they installed recovery and flashed adem kernel. If you don't flash adem kernel your wifi won't work. Good luck, ask if you have to know something else

1 - Download Odin, TWRP recovery, Stock I9505 Rom (?) and Adam's kernel ( search i9505 forum)
2 - Boot the device on dowload mode (push volume down, home and power button until the device vibrate)
3 - Flash the TWRP recovery, and wait for Odin return Sucess message.
4 - Copy the Adam's kernel .zip and Stock Rom file in the device ( sdcard root or what you want )
5 - flash the kernel with "Install" recovery option
6 - after that Wipe and Format every thing you can! (system, cache, etc...)
7 - Flash the stock Rom ( may have some error for the modem.bin but no matter )
8 - This may work now!

You can't flash live software onto a demo version due to having no radio on it, well it can be done but it's a right pain playing with the files, a couple of people have managed it but it's really not worth it in all honesty. You can (soft) brick very easily and it's not so easy to recover from it.

I think Coolpro considering it a normal unit, however thanks for your support , I hope developers get its solution soon
Hello XDA family here is a solution to fix your corrupted IMEI
first of all you must only use this for the devices below
Samsung galaxy S3 GT-I9300 model ONLY.
Samsung galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 model ONLY.
Samsung galaxy S4 GT-I9500 model ONLY.
Samsung galaxy S4 GT-I9505 model ONLY.
DO NOT USE IT FOR ANY OTHER DEVICE!
Before starting:
Backup your important data first just in case of this process corrupt your data.
Download and install Samsung mobile driver (Skip this if you already have Samsung Kies) (Link below)
Download MODEM.tar.md5 file then unzip it only one time (Link below)
Download Odin3 then unzip it (Link below) Disable the antivirus software, Close Samsung Kies and disconnect any device connected to USB
ports on your computer.
Flashing instructions :
1- Run "Odin3" as administrator, Click on PDA button and navigate to Modem.tar.md5 file that you extracted.
2 - Shut down your device and make sure your device is completely off
3 - Put your device into download mode by pressing and holding (Volume Down + Home + Power) buttons
4 - Press Volume up to continue
5 - Connect the device to your computer by USB cable and wait until you get a sign in Odin (ID:COM section) and "Added" in message box.
6 - Make sure re-partition is NOT SELECTED!
7- Click Start and wait a few seconds until you see "Added!".
P.S:
In some cases this won't fix the wrong IMEI or "not registered on network" message
If your device stuck in boot loop after downgrading, factory reset your device from recovery mode (Vol up+Home+Power)

So worst case scenario it just wont boot yeh? i can install a G900F stock rom back on through odin and everything will be ok?
You will never know mate. The worst case is your device will be bricked ? it all depends on your nerve mate. There are still chances you could restore your bricked phone to normal by using odin, make sure you have a back up of your stock rom
My advice is to use custom rom

Ok, you can do it.
I intended to test it myself first coz I wanted to flash G900F on my G900I in reverse.
Now it's impossible for me coz unfortunately I have been ended up with downloading corrupted firmware due to unreliable internet connection (5 times 2day so far)
If you're desparate to flash G900I, you MUST back up your current firmware PIT file. In case you fail to flash G900I firmware, that PIT file will be used along with your stock firmware to recover your phone to its pristine state.
To do it, please follow this guide , if you're using G900I 16Gb, you could download the PIT file from the OP immediately.

To do it, please follow this guide , if you're using G900I 16Gb, you could download the PIT file from the OP immediately.

ok, so here is the update. since installing G900I firmware failed through odin due to bootloader incompatibility i managed to install it through mobile odin. worked like a charm and even had the telstra bootanimation lol. wifi, bluetooth and everything seemed to be working fine. however my gps is still not working and the G900I seems to have the same gps.conf file as the euro version. i definately believe my gps module is either faulty or not connected to the board properly. is there any app that can tell if the gps module is even there or turned on as no one else is having this problem.

I'm glad you could pull it off
I think you should send your phone to your carrier customer service, they will sort out your gps issue
