[Q] Phone is bricked help... - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone. I tried to downgrade from kitkat on my lg g2 d800 and I followed the guide and downloaded the necessary files but now my phone wont boot and windows can't detect it. I can't get into fastboot...please help

I think you just need to do a hard reset. Unless something went wrong during the flash?

Downgrading requires a factory reset. Power off the phone, press volume down and power button until the LG logo appears then press power again. Should take you to factory reset mode.
Otherwise you can flash KK again using the kdz from download mode (plug to your computer whilst holding volume up I believe)

Pleast try to reboot the phone(if not, just take out the battery.)

Thank you everyone. Something did go wrong during the flash...it just stopped abruptly at 12 percent. I tried doing a hard reset by holding the volume down and then letting go when the logo appeared and then pressing the buttons again. It says resetting in progress but then shuts off.

Fastboot doesn't work anymore...my pc doesn't recognize it anymore. Holding the power button brings the lg logo on but then it quickly disappears.

I think something did go wrong because I can no longer access fastboot by pressing the power button and holding +. Holding the power button and the volume - key and then letting go and pressing them again when the lg logo comes up again, brings up the hard reset menu. But when I confirm the reset the phone shuts off...

Try this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142
Don't know if you have experience with Ubuntu. But its easy to install and the process is easier than it looks.
Check if your phone has some if these symptoms. And please note that you CAN'T use the files provided in the OP. You need the files for D800.

I tried this and the command "ls /dev/sd*" doesn't detect the phone.

Why were you trying to Downgrade?

Unplug your device, run the following command and plug the device back in (maybe you have to execute the command again):
dmesg -c
This should show you all USB system events. Your phone should show up as /dev/s<omething>.
However, the phone needs to be powered on. If it shut's itself off, Linux probably can't connect to it ...

Thank you. I will try this later on today. The battery might have completely died which might mean that the phone was on the entire time...

Try a factory reset. The procedure is in the phone manual. Something like phone off then power and vol. Down at same time then some other things after that. Heard it works for those who royally screw the pooch.

Try IOmonster's method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
It might just work.
EDIT: actually since you can't get into recovery try a different button combo. Some people say pressing all 3 keys at once works, some say just vol down + power.
Are you sure you had enough battery before flashing TWRP?

I don't have a G2, but could you use a Factory cable, which also supplies power and puts the device in Fastboot mode.
As I say, just passing through, so don't know if this is a real option.

This is a scarry thread!
Any updates?
when I plug the phone to the PC it recognize it as hard drives (more than 10 hard drives with small sizes from 32 meg to 10 meg ) most of them can not be accessed or protected .
than it all I got now
I did the same thing 2 nights ago. I used flashify to flash TWRP but flashed it as boot file causing it to boot loop into recovery. I had to power the phone off through the TWRP interface. Then, with the phone unplugged and off , I held the volume up button for about 3 seconds before inserting the micro usb cable. Keep holding the volume up button until the phone displays download mode. If your laptop still does not recognize your device, make sure you have the correct drivers installed and verify again. Once you are in download mode and your drivers are installed, you can follow the steps in this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476 post to get your phone back to stock. Worked for me and I thought my phone was donezo. Also, I installed cleanrom after I finished the above process and am loving it. Hope that helps you out mate!

Verizon G2 Stuck in Bootloop.

Hey guys,
So I got my G2 today and rooted it using the recommended root thread(IOroot10). It completed successfully and installed SU onto my device. It didn't actually ask for any permissions when i opened it and when I attempted to update the binaries it fails because I never get the toast about granting permission. So I factory reset and tried again. It didn't work the second time either. I thought maybe it's because I didn't take the latest OTA, so I factory reset one more time, took the OTA, and am now stuck in boot. I can't get to any recovery or download mode.
The phone boots the LG logo then gives me a boot loader secure check real fast that it fails. After that it goes to a black screen and there's nothing I can do.
When I plug the phone in and let it get to the black screen, it creates a ton of virtual USB drives (16 to be exact). The first one contains a write protected folder named image which contains the files modem.bxx, mlserver.bxx, mc_b2.bxx, adsp.bxx, cmnlib.bxx, dxhdcp2.bxx, isdbtm,.bxx,
mba.bxx, playread.bxx, tqs.bxx, wcnss.bxx, widevine.bxx, where the xx in .bxx is replaced with sequences of 00 up to 26 in some cases. The rest of the drives it creates are empty.
Any sign of a recovery is completely gone, and I have no idea where it went
This is what appears in the top left of the screen when the LG splash pops up for a split second and goes black

+Completely power off:
-Hold Vol Up and plug phone in (doesn't work)
-Factory Hard Reset (doesn't work)
-Hold Vol Up + Down and plug phone in (doesn't work)
-Power on, press Vol Up at vibrate (doesn't work)
+The phone never makes it to a point where I can ADB into it. I get the splash screen(with error) and straight to the black screen.
+Completely drain the battery and plug it back in to charge up. I end up with the same issue.
+Fastboot will not recognize the device, so flashing the recovery that way isn't an option.
-Could be a driver issue, but I think the phone just never makes it to a point where I can use fastboot.

Perhaps I'm missing something in that thread, but none of it applies to me.
The link to the other thread for if you can't get into download mode only talks about having TWRP installed on the device, which I don't.
And the rest of it is if you have ADB access, which I don't as well.

To get into download mode the G2 needs to be connected to the computer and upon turning on immediately press volume up. Compared to other devices, it's a weird way to do and may take a couple of tries to successfully boot into.

I'm still having no luck. I've read nearly 4 different ways to enter download mode for the vzw version and none of them have worked yet.
Holding the power button itself just restarts the device and it heads right back into the black screen. If I continue to hold the power button after it restarts, I get the LG splash again and then it shuts off.
It seems like the stock recovery is completely gone, but I don't understand why I wouldn't be able to get into download mode because of that.

The device itself will not turn off without me holding the power+up button for around ten seconds. Holding the power button itself just restarts the device and it heads right back into the black screen.

truckroot, that does indeed work, I actually messed with my build.prop file today and it soft bricked my phone. It would turn on you'd see the LG logo and a black screen, man I was livid. So later I was going to to have it replaced under warranty, I called Verizon and what not and he told me to press this button combo and I got straight into CWM, holy crap that was quite an easy fix for me. Here is the key combo under "Alternate Method"

I didn't. Tried to mess with the aboot to get into fastboot and was never successful. I have sent it to LG for them to reflash the device.

Need help - possibly bricked?

Hey guys,
So my Verizon G2 was on the stock rom with root. I wanted to install TWRP on it and flash a rom but couldn't get to that due to the fact that I couldn't get TWRP running after I tried flashing it with Flashify(I did this after having the first OTA). Another OTA came up today and I legit accidentally hit install now. I'm currently stuck at fastboot and I can't even get into download mode or anything. Hard factory reset doesn't work either, I just get :
[2950] Fastboot mode started
[2970] udc_start()
and nothing happens. I really hope I didn't brick my phone.. Please help!
Thank you!
I was given a G2 that was bricked, all it would do is sit on the LG screen forever. I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960 and put the factory firmware on the phone. I never took any of the OTA's cause the phone wouldn't even boot up, but I would think its close to the same situation. The guide posted above worked for me

Damnit-- I am in the same boat. Vol down or up when plugging in does nothing-- just a glowing black screen after the LG logo. Device manager is only seeing it as a qhusb_bulk device even though the lg drivers are installed. None of the tools recognize it at this point. Almost ready to give up and call it bricked.
Did you make sure the phone is completely off? If you hold power and volume down buttons, it will shut off. Once its completely off you hold the volume down and continue to hold it while your plugging in the USB. I believe the drivers have to be installed as well.

If you follow them exactly as stated, it will flash you to 100% out of the box stock, you WILL lose root and SD storage FYI.
I did this last night and it does work, just don't move to the next step until you are 100% sure you've completed the last.

I was able to finally get TWRP onto my phone last night, so I'm no longer stuck at fastboot. However, I'm not just stuck at recovery. Even after flashing a custom rom, I keep getting sent back to recovery. I did notice however, if I go to backup, the data partition is at 0mb, despite formatting data and cache already. I tried the dd commands in the link above with adb, and I get nothing(file doesn't exist). I'm at a loss. What can I do now?

Thanks for the help, but do I type that into the command prompt on my computer? Do I go into the terminal command option in TWRP? Totally confused on how to do it...
I know it took me all night...im kinda noobie...
Ok bear with me...use the second option from thecubes link, when in TWRP, go into terminal command, it will open a bunch of file options...ignore those and hit select on bottom right. That will start the command which will give you two sets of 6 figure numbers beginning with 6 and an out of memory error. Again ignore....hit back arrow till back to main screen and try what i said before. Again I am kinda a noob, so if my directions are confusing be patient and i will try to help.

turn your phone completely off: unplug it from the usb and hold down the power button for like 20sec. the phone should not be turning on or doing anything. then press and hold the power plus volume down. as soon as the lg logo pops up, let go of those 2 buttons and immediately press and hold power + volume down again. this should being up an all white screen with black letters. now press the power button 3 times til you get to "factory resetting". this should boot you into twrp. from there you can do whatever you want. this time do not take the OTA. hehe.
the drivers for your phone will be on lg's g2 site. make sure you've installed those with your phone unplugged from usb. if you have a previous driver installation, uninstall that. the lg drivers have the adb driver inside of it. also make sure you are using the most up to date adb.exe. if not then it may not be able to communicate with your phone. you can get that from android's sdk.

the hard reset writes the same text on the top corner.. i really dont know how to fix the problem i have allready posted a new thread but noone responded ;(
The fact that you see anything, is a good thing. Let battery completely die, and then plug into USB while booting to download mode. I had VERY similar issue and that's worked for me, then flashed to stock.

With your phone on, and in recovery (twrp), plug it into your computer.
Open device manager.
Look for a disabled/uninstalled (marked with yellow) device that corresponds to tour device (in my case all it said was D800).
Choose properties/driver/update driver.
From here, you have to choose all the manual options ("let me choose the driver to install"), not automatic, .
Finally Windows should show you a list of device drivers compatible with your device.
choose the LGE (or androidnet) Single Sooner ADB ...
Let it install
Test your ADB interface (ADB Devices).

Sounds identical to the problem I had. It's like a REAL slow bootloop. If you catch it just right, can you get it to factory reset? And then from there, it just does the same thing?
Ooops.
I saw bootloop twrp.
I missed the black screen.
What do you get when you hold the power button for longer than 15 seconds (force shutdown), then power it back on (hold power for a few seconds, then release)?
If you have a fully non-booting device, warranty it, of course blame it on the update.

turn the phone completely off. unplug it from the usb/charger. while the phone is off, hold down volume up then plug in the usb/charger. you should automatically see download mode pop up. if that happens then you can return back to stock by googling howto's. if not then you will have to take it in.
no devices when you plug it into computer in that state?
Hopefully none of that text at the top of the screen mentions root or modified system.

LG G2 boot certification verify - Critical error

Hello to all guys, I want to expose my problem hoping to find a solution and does not require the services that will surely take a long time.
Basically my LG G2 branded TIM week which started to give me problems to the camera, when I opened the black screen appeared and gave me an error message, the phone then crashed and was forced to restart.
Today so I decided to perform a reset + update using "flash tool LG 2014"
Drain everything and start the process of resetting.
Initially, the recovery tool appear to me instead of writing many question marks, and a progress bar.
The progress bar was also present on the phone, but arrived at about 10% it stops and returns to 0%.
On the computer instead tool gives me an error and terminates the operation.
So I decided to turn on the phone and I get a black screen with LG logo for about 5 seconds:
ERROR: boot verify certification;
[1200]
[1250]
[1300] Secure booting error!
[1350] Joined: boot verify certification
[1400]
[1450]
After I get this blank screen:
Critical error!
Demigod crash handler: critical error!
Press key to choose dload mode or reboot.
1) Volume up: DLOAD mode.
2) Volume down: Reboot.
If you choose DLOAD mode,
Please Following action.
1) DLOAD mode. Please connect USB.
2) Get the ram dump image using QPST configuration.
Board info
rev speed, serial pvs
Restart the phone does not do any good and is always shown on this screen.
By connecting your phone to the PC without pressing any key it is not recognized and the computer does not make any sound device connected.
As if I try to press the button Vol + and insert the USB (as it says on the terminal should enter download mode, but it is not because the phone is always on that white screen), the computer emits the sound of connection a new device but does not appear in the management discs or another.
Trying to use the tool to restore the phone screen remains the same, while on the computer advances to 4% and then stops.
Has anyone encountered the same problem or have a solution?
Sorry for my English, I use google translator.
Thank you all.
Unplug cable, press power button it should be turn off (don't pull your finger until LG Logo appear and gone). After that connect to pc while pressing Volume+ button. Try flash stock kdz again with flashtool.

I don't think so. Tell them; I was updating and this happened. Or something like that.
