I used to have a Note 8 and the S Note was great. Could start to write at the top and as each page filled up it would insert another page. I am talking about hand writing that is changed to type.
The S Note on the 10.1 2014 is utter rubbish. You cannot start typing at the top of a document and keep typing until a page is filled. You are FORCED to use text boxes. This means that if you just keep typing in the same box it does not overflow onto another page.
Does anyone have the Note 8 S Note .apk

Colin

No offense, but your lack of investment in even trying to find out how to do what you're moaning about is rubbish. Did you really think Samsung would blow-away a highly used feature like ink-to-text? Moving to the new version of S Note was kind of jarring at first but it does everything the old version does/did with less clutter and easier access to highly used features. After time I've grown to prefer it.

While I had the Note 8 I did the hack that allowed the Snote from the Note 2014 to be used on the Note 8. I prefer the newer version of Snote also.

With respect you have not read my post right. I click on the "T" for text then write in the box below and my handwriting is changed into text up above as I am writing. It is in a damned box which I cannot find out how to change. I have searched this forum and youtube and found nothing. The little box you show on top doesnt give me the options you show the only option i get is lasso or rectangle. I do get the options if I write freehand then select the writing. I do not want to do it that way.
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the dammed box.

You mean the title box at the top of the first page? Long press it and these are your options...
As for the rectangle tool... Handwrite your full page of notes, select the rectangle tool, and drag it to cover the entire page. The transform options then present themselves.
This is what I mean. See the blue line around the text that is a text box and when you hit return the text box gets bigger. There is no way to get rid of the text box that I can find.

That IS the title box. It's meant to be filled in with the keyboard. When the keyboard pops-up you're select handwriting mode which is fine but the title box is the only thing on a blank page that accommodates text; even if you choose to handwrite vs. type that text. All you need to do is handwrite whatever you want on an S Note page and when you're finished use the method I describe to convert it to text. The old S Note "insert text box" has been replaced with the method I've described.
Edit: I just deleted the title box. When I hit "text" it popped up another box just like the title box. So you CAN use boxes and the handwriting keyboard to create "on the fly" converted-to-text handwritten notes. That's pretty much the way the old S Note "insert text box" worked. Personally, with the introduction of "transform" I don't see a benefit of screwing around with real time conversion; it just slows down my note taking.

How did you delete the text box. Never mind found it.
I am sorry but the method you suggest is consulted. Each time I want to convert text I have put a box around it and say convert. Why do that when I can convert on the fly. I repeat my request anyone got the Note 8 SNote apk it was much better.

I really think you're just confused.
There are two ways to convert ink to text in the new S Note
Write your heart out on as many pages as you want and then select all or part of what you've handwritten and convert it to text after-the-fact; including translation in to multiple languages. Unless you have unbelievable penmanship and get a 90+% accuracy rate on the handwriting keyboard then it's a much better solution, at least it is for me. The way you're describing either slows me down considerably correcting misinterpretation of my handwriting as I write or if I go for speed tons of after-the-fact corrections I need to make.
Create text boxes (which are really designed for text-based graphical elements, not full-page notes) anywhere and everywhere you want and use the handwriting keyboard to convert ink-to-text on the fly. This works the same as I remember the old S Note working on my N10.1-12.
With the introduction of S Finder you can now search on handwritten notes so I don't need as many of my notes converted to text. If they are for my own personal use I'm fine leaving them in handwritten form. And the new method (transform) lets you pick and choose what you want converted. For example, of three pages of handwritten meeting notes there may be a couple of paragraphs or sentences I'll want to reference in a follow-up e-mail or document. I'll transform them, copy/paste them in text form where I want them, and then undo the transform which leaves the whole note handwritten.
With all that said, I still don't understand what you're trying to accomplish that any of the above doesn't address or that the old S Note did better or differently. The help file available in S Note has a great deal of info and a ton of shortcuts. You might want to read it. Also there's a Windows version of S Note that allows you to create new notes on your PC, view/edit notes from your device, and keep them sync'd. It only works with the new S Note format that was introduced starting with the N3. To each their own but I can't imagine going back to the old S Note.

That is exactly my Point. On the Note 8 you could write in the yellow box and it was converted into text as you went. Not in a text box just on the paper. You could if you wanted create a text box or you could just write and convert as you go. I want what the Note 8 could provide. I dont want to write freehand until I am finished then put a box around it to convert it to text. My hand writing is bad real bad but the Note 8 way I could see when I made a mistake. Waiting until all my writing was done would be a nightmare, trying to figure out what I really meant.
I have tried it your way and it was terrible.
I have found another app that will do it so am not going to try SNote any more.
But thanks for your patience.

It's been a while since I used the old S Note but if I remember correctly when you opened a new note there were two text boxes. One for the title and one below which could be used for body text. The only difference between the old and new S Note is that with the introduction of transform there's no longer a second text box that can be used for body text automatically present. If while the text "T" is highlight you touch the line underneath the title with the pen a text box will appear that looks and behaves exactly the way it did on the old version. So to make the new S Note behave like what you're used to now requires the extra step of creating a second text box. Am I missing something?
If you're just typing stuff, why not use another app like the preinstalled polaris office? S note is meant for handwriting and it does a good job at it IMHO. But there are always options. Like lecture notes...

He's talking about writing in the stock keyboard and having it convert to text that appears in S Note. I used it too before transform and S Search were introduced. It was pretty much the only way to get handwriting in to text.
Your all such.........ugh.....he wants to do it on the fly similar to a text layer in lecture notes or the way the old snote did text notes. He also specifically pointed out the desire for snote to continue automatically adding pages as he continued writing which it will not do in the new version. One issue I find with snote on the 2014 is the lack of portrait oriented notes. I cant change mine to portrait no matter what I do.

Not sure I follow you. You know you can create a notebook using a portrait template, right? From main (Recent notes) screen, Menu > Use New Template, then choose one of the portrait templates.
Mine doesnt have any portrait templates only landscape ones. Trust me I've looked. I even tried creating custom templates by putting them into the file system. Nothing. Can you post a screen shot showing a protrait template?

For those who don't know PocketCM or ContactManager, it's a contact application:
What it does:
- Can be used completely with finger, no need for stylus
- tapping the contact make appear a screen with contact info (photo, name, phone, sms and mail). Selecting one option launch the default compose dialog or make the call. You can also change the contact picture from the detail directly.
- display contact photo if present (in the list and the contact detail).
- allow you to see SMS conversation history
- fully skinnable
- All basic contact operation
- Access to WM contact application if required (for some specific operation taht can't be done using PCMC).
Build a theme:
http://pocketcm.com/phorum/read.php?8,363
History
For a complete changelog, you can look here.
Version 0.15
* Edit before call option: press a call button for 250ms, you'll be able to edit the number
o If you press a contact for 250ms in the list, you can call the contact directly
* SMS optimization, read message faster, doesn't block the device
* Support for second and third e-mail address.
* 40% improved startup time
* PocketCM 0.10 support
* Fixed for landscape mode
* Bug fixes
* Lighter executable, about 200Kb less
Version 0.14
- Current index position indicator
- Better list scrolling feedback at beginning and end of list
Option menu to choose theme (Theme don't need to be called theme.cmt anymore, they can be called anything.cmt. Put them in the program folder, hold the phone button for a second, choose option, then choose theme, and pick the one you like)
- SIP setting is persistant and independant of Windows Mobile: You choose the SIP you like (or no sip) and it will be used by PCM no matter what SIP you're using in WM
- Staying pressed on a message mark it as read/unread
- Fixed PCM looks without theme (it's definitly better with a theme, but is usable).
- Bug fixes
- And yes for some really annoying people (I hope they have some sense of humor), an option to get out of fullscreen
And of course you can get the stuff: here
finally you decide to made a native version... what language are you using to do that ? because your exe is very big and it still use more of 1 Mbyte of memory in my phone... eheheh i saw also you decided to use letter dividers as my iMedia, now I'm in holiday and i can continue my work too

And I'll be happy to test your version as soon as it's usable.
By the way, how were the exam?
exams very well thanks... and finally holiday for a month!! my version about scrolling is already usable... I have to make a class to make some nice bitmap buttons, assign commands for direct call and direct SMS (they are just two strings of code) but the most is done... all the other are features to add, I'm using just C++ and API why you choosed to use MFC ? I think you could do it without, it's better.
Wow.
I have to admit this is very impressive. Small memory footprint, fast, elegant...!
And thankfully no .NET, lol.
That threaded SMS is very nice as well. That's a huge bonus.
Couple of things/requests:
- 240x240 support
Right now, it's mostly okay. But in a Contact, some of the formatting gets cut off.
- Type as well as scroll
I understand the primary purpose is to scroll with your finger, but what about having something similar to other Contact managers? So say I want to find "Steve" I type S-t-e with each letter narrowing down the list. Right now, I can type "S" but if I hit "T" it jumps to all of the "T" contacts. Also, better D-pad support. Like say I hit "S" it would be nice then to select each contact by using the D-pad.
I obviously use a Treo so it's much faster for me to type than scroll with the KB always open.
- Any plans for further integration of the threaded SMS into the system?
Like hooking into the notifications and having it "take over" from the default system? I would suspect this is very difficult, yet you've certainly proven yourself already with this app!
The graphics and transitions are simply superb too.
best,
Mal
hi,
thx for this new version but at the moment i will stay with contactmanager 0.11:
1. the alphabetical index on the left has smaller letters than in the .net cf version.
2. scrolling in the previous version works better. the new one has an unnatural acceleration during the scrolling.
edit:
3. on the previous version i could tap for example on "W" and it jumped to the last contacts in my list, which start with the letter "T". in the new version nothing happens.
edit2:
could you please try this:
the current problem with the alphabetical index is that i want to use the device one-handed. while it is in my right hand i have to use my right hand's thumb to use the index. using the left (visible) index means, that i have to stretch my thumb over the whole screen and it often covers display of the currently pressed letter. and with the invisible index on the right holding the device gets a bit difficult and it could drop if i am in the bus for example.
i wanted to ask you if you could try, how a horizontal alphabetical index on the bottom would work. it that too small on a 2,8" display or could it be useful?
Bugs
1. When I press the the hide button it actually exits the program.
2. Text on the Favorites screen is off the screen at the edges.
edit: I also agree with LordDeath that the alphabetical index on the left side should be bigger like on the .Net version.
kDub
how to i adjust the settings for the new PocketCM? in the older version (.11) there was a settings.ini file, however, i dont see such a file in the .zip folder. am i missing something here?
Bugs with 0.5
1.) Contact pictures in details view are cropped in the middle of the picture, so it appears there's missing pixel rows in the middle.
2.) When favorites is empty, the text displayed on the favorites screen runs off the screen, it should be word wrapped.
Great works so far!
Is it possible to tweak the speed of the scroll/flick?
Not trying to be a pain but is there an ETA for the .cab version? Sorry if you posted this, didnt see it in your post. Thanks
Wow so much faster, its great.
Just to offer my 2 cents
1. I love the SMS Threader. Anyway you make the keyboard retractable? Possibly change the font size even?
2. Also related to the keyboard. its actually very good, I just find it difficult to get the buttons on the edge because of the design of the 8525 in my case. Maybe to move the Q,A, etc in a little more? Maybe im retarded but I tried writing 'mwah' to my gf and I hit s instead of a 4 times in a row, lol
3. Lastly, can we set up the order that the contact page is displayed for a particular contact. IE right now it looks to be in a strange order (for me anyway) ..showing Company, Home, Work, Mobile, then SMS. Ive love to have Mobile, then SMS then whatever. Or something like that. If we could modify it that would be even better.
Thanks for taking my input. =P
Great product!
I like it better then the ContactManager version but I have one problem your keyboard does not suport many of the letter we use in my contry like æøíóýð so is it posible to not use your keyboard and insted just use the one inside WM6? I know I can use the builtin keyboard but I don't want the one built into the app to show
Hi tene
Just tested your new work. Superb! Few observations:
1) To fast scroll, move finger across the full screen. Short scroll, just the centre portion. Cool!
2) Threading SMS display not perfect yet. When I switched from keyboard to Phonepad, the sms threads moved up automatically, but it didn't display properly until I touch it, move it. But the fact that you can read your previous sms is... cool too!
3) Sending of SMS, no problem I believe, cos' it appears in the Messaging 'Sent' box. Will know when my wife reply.
- But one thing that's strange. In the 'Sent' box, it didn't show the my wife's name, but just the phone number. Any idea how come?
4) The 'twirling' effect - moving from contact screen to SMS panel is COOL!
5) Index scrolling.. You lengthen the display of letters is also a great enhancement. Not so easily block by hand now.
6) Index scrolling 2 .. When you scroll to 'E', it will stop at E section (with the 'E' title bar on top). Think this is good cos' it's very clear that you are at the section of your selection.
Overall, a great job!!
Great upgrade!
Definite improvement over 0.11--good job!
Observations
--Loads much faster as advertised!
--I like the scrolling effect in 0.11 better. It was smoother, but now seems less fluid and "stiffer"
-- New single letter headers to break up the contacts list is interesting--not sure I like it yet
-- How do I delete a contact? Appears I have to select the contact, tap to bring up the menu, tap to view contact, then click menu softkey then delete and another tap to confirm...too many steps (6 taps on screen). Can you add a "Delete contact" option with confirmation in the menu for eact contact? Wouls reduce to 4 taps anyway...
--PageDown and PageUp were not added as mentioned in 0.11 thread--can you consider adding this to function just like up/down on the d-pad?
It seems as if the A-Z index on the side is designed more in mind for one-handed operation for left handed people. Is there any way you'd consider adding an option in the settings.ini file to allow us to move around components? Say for example, moving the A-Z index bar to the right side, move contact pictures in the list view, etc.
Other than that, the only things I'm not wild about is the 'snappiness' of the scrolling as opposed to how soft it was in the previous version, and the small area on the details page to use a finger gesture to go back to the contact list. The last one isn't such a big deal, but the other two would definitely improve usability.
Absolutely fabulous application (as before) and now lightning fast!! Thank you!
I love the SMS Threader. However, I noticed, that the sort order is not always correct. I send an SMS at 19:55 and received an SMS at 19:56. However the last one was put above the first one on the list.
Also: Where is the settings.ini? In my Zip.file of PocketCM there was none.
Read the "Build a theme" section in the original post.
The settings are stored in "theme.cmt". It's just a zip file. There should be a "settings.ini" in the "theme.cmt" file, that you can mess with.
You can do this by :
1.) Renaming "theme.cmt" to "theme.zip"
2.) Unzipping theme.zip to a temporary folder
3.) Modify the settings.ini to your liking
4.) Zip up the contents of the temporary folder
5.) Name the zip file theme.cmt.
Looks great.
Thanks
A couple of observations: Can't change order of phone numbers, if you have a few numbers for a contact the normal mobile contact number ends up off screen, where secondary numbers appear at the top of the list.
Does not seem to be a way to show email address on the contact screen, used to be able to do this thru the .ini.
When using the indexing (which works very well) the "letter" in the bar is too close to the scrolling finger, would be nice if it was in the middle of the screen (portrait mode) so it can be seen when using either hand.
Also I have seen when in portrait mode that when you select the contacts picture the drop down box can come up with 3 x 2 boxes ( 2 lots of 3 side by side) insrtead of the 6 in a row.
Please ignore part of this email, will play with the theme editing to see if it solves some of my issues
Keep up the great work

the best dialer out there only released yesterday and its free for now !!
Any screens, as none on site either?!?!?
there is a pdf file under manuals that will show images and how to use it.
Cheers for that, don't really like the look of it.
I'm not seeing the advantage...using the stock dialer does both the number and the name search at the same time. Keyboard looks too complex, taking the alpha/numeric stock dialer, and splitting it into seperate screens.
To each their own.
i think it is f...g amazing also! going to give it a try. it happened to me that instead of dialing the contact i dialed the 3-4 numbers corresponding to the letters. i almost never type a number so why keep them?
this app can do everything except a good cup of coffee even taking you straight to settings or programs. if you'll download and read the pdf manual you'll also be at least intrigued. it is an app you can turn it on (loading it ) or off, this is not a skin. it is a completely new concept. the graphics (has one skin for night and one for the day) are not bad also....
i installed it and going to settings i discovered that you can add a second language by yr choice by typing the letters of yr language in the dialer (you can build the dialer).
the program is small and occupies only a little over 400 K.
look at the second pic, i started changing the keyboard (first two buttons).
It's good that it's free. But it's not the type of dialer I am looking for/forward to. I really want a vga dialer which has big keys (not just like 3/5 of the screen space). Something similar to the minimal dialer here. But that one is for qvga screen. I am hoping if someone could port this to vga screen or I'll have to do it myself.... and I am not a pro. It would take a little less time than forever .
amazing is something else
just like u said....
to each their own.....
i find it making sms email and dialing with above 200 contacts very easy.
the diamonds system is more difficult.
read the manual u can change almost anything u like in the settings
and when u get use to the touch system...i just cant work with out it......

i installed it and going to settings i discovered that you can add a second language by yr choice by typing the letters of yr language in the dialer (you can build the dialer).
the program is small and occupies only a little over 400 K.
look at the second pic, i started changing the keyboard (first two buttons).

i bet we'll see lots of skins in the nearest future. you might think it is ugly but give it a try....sending sms without switching programs and easy typing from yr dial pad are only two of the things that make it superior to the diamond's system not to mention the fact that you can build yourself (in settings) the keyboard with yr kind of fonts and keys arrangement. beautiful things are not always also very practical
i confirm that it is ugly and it looks like an exploded bag full of letters.

Me the Ugly full of letters programer.
It is not about been beauty, it is about doing the job. Some users with 1500 contacts and up actually did try it. They never stop using it.

It's funny that you compare this dialer with the o3touch.
Without the O3 can you do Email, SMS, and dialing in the same application?
Can you get Clear Big letters fonts on incomming SMS or incomming call?
While these programs are shiny and sparkeling , they havy and most of the time have troubles with doing the things they supposed to do.
This program is light (less then 300K) , stable, compatible with VGA screens, and short the numbers of operation moves from the user (smart user or not).
So if the program is look sparkly or not is not the issue, but I think the dark skin looks great on the diamond or the Touch pro.
...and what makes it so special for us less-smart people?

Seems I'm the first one to reply, so here's my opinion. Please take this as constructive criticism. This program seems like a nice replacement for separate contact and dialer applications. However, at the momemt there are a few things that need to be fixed before I'd consider migrating:
1) Smart-dialing. Not debatable. This needs to be included by default. It is just, simply put, *the* most effective way to dial.
2) Appearance. I remember reading in the previous thread that someone thought the screen was too "complicated"/crammed. I think I'd have to agree. I think it's the monotonous cell-like layout that is off-putting.
- Consider brining in some variation.
- Make the dailpad's appearance different to the rest of the app.
- Consider a more "organic" appearance.
- Remove unnecesary items from the screen and list in soft-key menus.
Being a beta or pre release of this program we know about some bugs... hopefully there will be a way to to have a tweak for it to have this fix because it becomes irritating overtime and like ROMS we have to flash or to uninstall this immediately
although nice to have a keyboard which has less than 500kb
Quite cool, thanQ. Could do with t9 input though.

Hi H3x
Thanks for your remarks.
The most effective way to dial, in many times is the way you use to. I think that any system that gets you to the contact you want in a 1-2 seconds, is a good one. The o3touch system will bring you to the contact as fast as any other good system. It is also a meter of some training and selecting the best approach, considers the total number of contact you have. Try the “1-2 letters + space + 1-2 letter, for over 1000 contacts, try the 2-3 letters for less, try the “contain ..”, try switching between them as you search, and find the best for you.
The main point is what should take place following finding the contact. The application offers a full ability to manage the data as well as sending SMS or email, and many other options, all within the same environment.
I have tested the application for 3 month with over 200 users. It may take some time to get familiar with the different approach. Many times the first reaction is about the look and not about the do. Most of the time users study very fast how to do what. My offer to you is to give it a real one hour try.

What is the language that you want to switch to?
For the moment the application “talks” in English Russian and Hebrew. (Setting screen 3, row 3)
It very easy to translate and to add a new language. Also you can use a special desktop tool for the process of translation and producing the needed XML files.

This application does look very promising indeed! For any haters: try programming yourself and stop shunning his application. He's doing this in free time, so show some respect. For those offering constructive criticism, good advice.
In the last thread it didn't support on-screen QWERTY. Does it now, and if not, will it do soon?

Hello ShaunC193
The main purpose for the application is to support one hand fast operation for the common daily tasks. The QWERT keyboard needs too much room on the screen for one hand (and no stylus) operation. Sorry to say but for the moment, other things are in the ToDo list for the next version.
Thanks for the support. We buy top technology, full of graphic effects, and the day after go to look for solutions, in order to do the simple tasks in human way. It makes users displease, also to forget that it was not me to promises anything. The application concept is: No to scrolling and No to dragging, just Touch what you want and Touch More if you want more. It is not what we were told we should love and adore. Some time it is so easy that users can no find the obvious touch. It also offers a solution that works the same on any device, so it will follow me to the next one. Not everyone will install such a dull UI to notice its efficiency, and certainly not every one must like it.

As for refreshing the screen, it is a known issue that accrues also in the situation of waking up the device while the app is on screen. For now, touch the “Fast dial” button a long press and it will refresh the screen.

Hello,
Let me tell a few words. I've made a russian translation of this excellent software. I'm trying to promote it in russian forums. I see two kinds of responces. Positive and not. I'll try to explain my thought.
IMHO, main raeson of o3touch dislike is not complete understanding of it's main ideas.
- o3tocuh is designed for one-hand operating, so there are no qwerty-keyboard, only phone-style dialpad. For devices with small screens it's may be a better solution.
- o3tocuh trying to spped up contact search. Try to turn on "Contains..." mode for search, and see it. I have about 100 contacts in my phonebook, but now I usually find needed one in a 3-4 clicks. One letter from name, space, oe letter for surname. Done. I didn't think that T9 search will be much faster, but also I think Arie will implement it in future, if it's so necessary.
- o3tocuh is designed to minimize memory and space usage, so there is no glittery-skins, 3D sound effects and so on. o3touch is like guud business class - not shining, not visually stunning, but you get's all you need. Two skins for day and night is enough for usual needs. Maybe in future, will be added color scheme editor. But as for me, it didn't makes much sence.
In conclusion, I can said - if you didn't try o3tocuh - please do it It takes not much resources, and runs good on any screen resolution (even wide-ones). If you tried and didn't like - give another chance, it's worth it.

Hello XDA-ers!! Updates Recently Made 2/26/2009 4:20 PM US Mountain Time
I have a concept for an interface replacement for Windows Mobile. I've made a Youtube video showing what it would look like, but the video is just some screenshots that are stiched together to make a vid. If I could get the help of developers, then I could make this a reality.
The Youtube Vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91Iw7Z4-Rho
The video is just of the Lock Screen, and I haven't even put in the unlocking animation, just the sliding to unlock thing.
How this interface works:
So, you turn on your phone, and you're greeted with this unlock screen:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",

}
(Hopefully the picture above worked)
Updated 2/26/2009 4:20 PM US Mountain Time
If you had another program open when you turned off your phone, then your lock screen would have the program in the background instead of your wallpaper. So, if you had Internet Explorer running and then you turned your phone off, the next time you turn your phone on, you'll see this screen:
To unlock, you just drag the Start icon outside of the blue region as seen in the Youtube clip. Once it's outside of the blue region, you release, and the blue region and Start icon will disappear. Then you can begin using your phone. Here's the Internet Explorer unlocked:
The scroll bars in the Internet Explorer are for guidance only. You use kinetic scrolling to get around the page just like Skyfire or the iPhone browser. At the top of the page is the URL bar. Then on the left, in order, is the Back button, Foward button, Reload button, Home button, Favorites, and then other websites that are bookmarked to the side bar like msn, google, xda-dev, and cnet.
If you don't touch the screen after a few seconds, say 3 seconds, then all of the icons and scroll bars will disappear, leaving your webpage wide open to explore:
Yet you still may notice that in each corner there is a low glowing color, representing the 4 orbs. The top left is glowing orange, right green, bottom left blue, right yellow. This represents the four colors in the Start icon, if you noticed. The low glow from the corner tells the user that the menus are hidden but they are still there and accessible. The user would just tap the screen or move the webpage to bring up all of the menus.
If you want to go straight to your phone, then you can just drag the Start icon from the lock screen up to the phone, and it will start your phone. Same with the other icons.
Here's all of the icons labeled for the first unlock screen:
Phone Icon - Displays number of missed calls/voicemails. When clicked on, it shows missed calls/voicemails, contacts, history, dialer, etc.
Messaging Icon - Displays number of missed TXT's, Emails, and even Instant Messages. When clicked on, shows your missed messages, gives other messaging options, etc.
Notifications Icon - Displays number of any other notifications such as appointments, alarms, and tasks. When clicked on, it shows you the notifications, allows you to take action, etc.
Programs Icon - When clicked on, it allows you to launch programs, plus it shows your running programs so that you can easily close or switch to them.
The Orb icons in the corners will always be up in every program unless a program specifies them to hide. The Orb interface will completely replace the Windows Mobile interface. The interface is completely touch and finger friendly.
Go HERE to see an idea of what an incoming call would look like.
I need help to make this interface become a reality. I don't know programming and I could use help with icon design. If any of you can help me with this, then that would be great. I would love to see this interface rise up to the top with PointUI and others.
So write me a reply in this thread or anything. I need the help.
Thanks so much for watching the video and looking at the pics,
Andrew

I've also thought about using Wisbar Desktop but I want something that would be a full interface replacement, something thats really smooth, flashy, and beautiful. I could make a quick Wisbar theme, but I want this to be similar to PointUI's original interface.
Developers, where are you? lol. I guess I'll spend my rodeo break learning C++ or whatever you code in. Just kiddin, that would be a long rodeo break.
Honestly developers, anyone out there?
Keep up the hype about this though, it helps.
Thx everyone,
Andrew
I like the concept, it brings everything to the desktop in a very simple way. Though i have a remark. The arrangement should be different in my opinion. The start-menu should be upper left and the notifications and messages should be in the lower right and left corner.
The start menu should be there because in your current proposition you break with the position of the start menu of the OS. If the upper left corner is the best place can be questioned. But by not breaking with the way the OS is structured you are making your desktop replacement easier to get used to.
The messages and notifications should be at the lower end of the screen because they "belong together". By putting them on the lower bar, they will "work together".
Though you could always let the user choose
This seems similar to the TAT concept that Meizu M8 copied (or was it vice versa? I don't think so).
See here for their unlocking ideas:
http://www.tat.se/site/showroom/prototypes_movies2.html
I think the "Boing" one is the prettiest.

Yes the unlock thing is similar to TAT's drag and drop unlock or some of their others. TAT has some real amazing stuff, I think it inspired me some, but i thought of the original design of the 4 orbs in the corners way before I saw TAT.
If only TAT gave us some of their sweet stuff that they design.

That's a good idea for the start menu since it's familiar with Windows Mobile, but my plan for this interface is for it to completely replace the Windows Mobile interface, so you would never see the original Start Menu again.
I haven't thouroughly thought out the icon placement yet, I worked up these rough images just this morning in about 3 hours.
Thanks for the comment, I'll consider upper right!

the tat stuff looks pretty nice definately interesting in see how this comes along

I've also considered PointUI. Yet, I think the best way to make a perfected interface would be to write all of the code custom.

That looks like msn explorer???
That picture that your talking about is the internet browser, which is visiting the site msn.com
Some of the icons used in the internet browser are from Internet Explorer 8, but most of them are custom created. The theme was all created by me, I haven't seen msn explorer for ages.
Anyways I use msn for my mail, so I chose that webpage cuz that's how i get to my mail.

even those buttons on the corners look too early 2000's Windows. Not the icons but rather the color scheme in general. I dunno its just my opinion.

Yea I could agree with that, I made the icons in Word 2007, so I didn't expect anything spectacular.

Hey there !
Thanks for your great app
I want to suggest you a different way to measure progress in weightloss.
Since there can be a problem in measuring only the weight (drinking more/less before the measurement, going to restroom, ...)
i want to ask you to include a alternative weightloss measurement.
User can add the circumfences of both legs and both arms and the waist circumfence,
and your cool app sums them up und displays it also on the weight chart as an alternative index
Also a fancy feature would be a reminder to weight/measure( ) yourself.
Best regards, Marko
Nice app! I support the suggestions above.
Already sent an email for Dutch translation.
I think it's a cool app.
A suggestion would be to make some kind of possibility to calculate/diagram weightchange on a week or month basis.
Then it would be easier to get a picture of whether the weight is going in the right direction or not.
Right now I miss the overview a bit..

Sometimes it's better to keep it simple. Keep in mind what the name of the app is. There's a lot of fitness/tracking apps already..
It doesn't rotate, that should change.
x feet isn't accepted without 0 inches.
I have light grey text on a white background, a bit hard to read (when entering weight).
The text, when entering weight, is way too small.
When adding weight the Time says "Set manually" on the button, but it isn't clear as it doesn't show the current time pre-entered (or listed).
If Set manually is tapped in the adding weight, it doesn't allow going back to the current time (not too big of a deal, but still an imperfection in the program).
When entering weight, it should have the keyboard already up.
When the keyboard is up to enter weight it blocks the OK button so one has to hit the back button on the phone to get the keyboard out of the way to tap OK (return on the keyboard doesn't work, which is not really an issue?)
I *really* like that you have the phone pad (mainly #'s) keypad popup when entering the weight, which should be a # (as "too much" is hard to graph . I wish more programs did that!
I haven't used it yet, just installed and launched it, so hopefully more later! So far it is looking useful (don't let my comments dishearten you, feedback means I care enough to provide it).
MT4G, CM7 nightly 36
Perfect! I need to stop being a fatty.
I do find it very odd that it doesn't do portrait orientation though. I've never seen an app that didn't default to portrait, or at least support it!

Thanks to all for all your suggestions!!!
Lot of work right now, but I'm taking notes of all of them, and will try to implement then as soon as possible
There are some of them which I think it might complicate a bit the use of the application... but I will consider putting something like advance tab, and add the options there, thought that I will do in my free time, and don't have so much free time right now
Great! Finally an alternative to the abandoned Weight Journal app. It might not be as "pretty" but it's not the most important thing I guess.
I will just need to migrate my data and as this is open source I will be able to add online syncing ! When I find some time I will try to contribute Google Spreadsheets syncing.

If you don't have enought time, and you find something pointing about google spreadsheets syncing, I could do it and add it to the project
Perfect! Found it at a perfect moment: just as I started my diet. First change in the graph: a steep 5 lbs drop (yay!)
If anything comes up with the app, I'll let you know!

Well, all you really need is here: http://code.google.com/apis/spreadsheets/
I haven't worked with this API, but given how the Google Maps API works this shouldn't be a problem

Here's more (I don't repeat unfixed issues I listed previously):
Problems:
Unlabled Y axis
Starts at right side of screen
No 0 on scale (or not enough span) makes early entries alarming (steep slope for even minor change)
About box doesn't include version number
Scale auto-adjusts even when swiping around
Numbers generally too small
Export to png then goes to Share file (OK if pick says "Export to png & share" or some such). Perhaps Share as a separate menu, then it asks what to share (PNG, ODS, etc).
When going over the preset max weight it says "You are over the weight!", "the" needs to be specified, e.g. "You are over the max weight!"
Suggestions:
Have some way to sort by time of day (e.g. morning weigh-ins versus evening weigh-ins)
Allow marking chart with comments (e.g. "Vacation on cruise ship")
Pinch and zoom
Show for Y axis the max and goal weights as max/min (or min/max)
Should have a Weight alert that isn't maximum but is minimum (some people have the opposite problem to most of us)
Likes:
The existance of the program
The export & import
The license
The BMI calculation
The 7 day average
The automatic time entry
More... (the above are what is most noticable to me)
Don't feel I'm being pushy or whiny at all--I really appreciate you doing this and I understand what side projects are. You asked for feedback, and I like your utility, so I figure I should provide my feedback

Thanks for your feedback. It's greatly appreciate I just hope to find time
Hope to provide an update soon ;D
Found a bit of free time again New version with minor changes. Lot of things to do yet, I don't forget your suggestions!
Works great. Looks good on a tablet (Xoom).
One thing though: tried to install from the Market instead of using the apk found here and it certainly doesn't support tablets. I guess it hasn't updated yet?
