the best dialer out there only released yesterday and its free for now !!
Any screens, as none on site either?!?!?
there is a pdf file under manuals that will show images and how to use it.
Cheers for that, don't really like the look of it.
I'm not seeing the advantage...using the stock dialer does both the number and the name search at the same time. Keyboard looks too complex, taking the alpha/numeric stock dialer, and splitting it into seperate screens.
To each their own.
i think it is f...g amazing also! going to give it a try. it happened to me that instead of dialing the contact i dialed the 3-4 numbers corresponding to the letters. i almost never type a number so why keep them?
this app can do everything except a good cup of coffee even taking you straight to settings or programs. if you'll download and read the pdf manual you'll also be at least intrigued. it is an app you can turn it on (loading it ) or off, this is not a skin. it is a completely new concept. the graphics (has one skin for night and one for the day) are not bad also....
i installed it and going to settings i discovered that you can add a second language by yr choice by typing the letters of yr language in the dialer (you can build the dialer).
the program is small and occupies only a little over 400 K.
look at the second pic, i started changing the keyboard (first two buttons).
It's good that it's free. But it's not the type of dialer I am looking for/forward to. I really want a vga dialer which has big keys (not just like 3/5 of the screen space). Something similar to the minimal dialer here. But that one is for qvga screen. I am hoping if someone could port this to vga screen or I'll have to do it myself.... and I am not a pro. It would take a little less time than forever .
amazing is something else
just like u said....
to each their own.....
i find it making sms email and dialing with above 200 contacts very easy.
the diamonds system is more difficult.
read the manual u can change almost anything u like in the settings
and when u get use to the touch system...i just cant work with out it......

i bet we'll see lots of skins in the nearest future. you might think it is ugly but give it a try....sending sms without switching programs and easy typing from yr dial pad are only two of the things that make it superior to the diamond's system not to mention the fact that you can build yourself (in settings) the keyboard with yr kind of fonts and keys arrangement. beautiful things are not always also very practical
i confirm that it is ugly and it looks like an exploded bag full of letters.

It is not about been beauty, it is about doing the job. Some users with 1500 contacts and up actually did try it. They never stop using it.

It's funny that you compare this dialer with the o3touch.
Without the O3 can you do Email, SMS, and dialing in the same application?
Can you get Clear Big letters fonts on incomming SMS or incomming call?
While these programs are shiny and sparkeling , they havy and most of the time have troubles with doing the things they supposed to do.
This program is light (less then 300K) , stable, compatible with VGA screens, and short the numbers of operation moves from the user (smart user or not).
So if the program is look sparkly or not is not the issue, but I think the dark skin looks great on the diamond or the Touch pro.
...and what makes it so special for us less-smart people?

Hi guys, just wondering which dial pads people are using/likeing.
I have downloaded several Iphone style ones, but to be honest im really thinking of going back to the standard one. I havent found one yet that has smartdial working, lets you video call, and the keypad work in a call.
Just wondering what other poeple are using (as most of the Iphone threads are getting very difficult to keep track of now, and I fancy something a bit different)
Cheers all
Surely someone must have a few to recomend?
Are you looking for something like this?
http://www.zombienexus.net/portal/
I disabled my smart dialer because I find it a pain in the neck.
Admittedly, it doesn't look quite as nice, but at least I don't have to sit there waiting for it to search through my contacts while I wait for the blasted thing to figure out what I *might* be typing in (and if I WAS after a contact, I would have used the contacts app anyway....)
I'm using the one from zombienexus that ericc191 suggested, and so far it's working perfectly. I believe it fits your criteria (unless smartdial is supposed to do some other funky stuff that I have no idea about).
The only thing is, though, it doesn't skin the speed dial and call history, so currently I'm stuck with the ugly blue buttons from the standard dialpad without any idea how to replace them.
Make sure you backup everything though.
i have a matter with this dial pad , not use for my PDA

"Don`t" Forget the HTC Cube, but I made this with "UltimateLaunch". It rotates smooth every kind of screen, icon or pluginin in a cube.
Looks nice. Can we try it? Any demo?

Looks amazing, can it have multiple plugins per cube, and if so when/where can we get it.

I made it with the new "ultimatetaunch" from germany, this is the first launcher with touchflow.

it can do speedial, an you can add multiple plugins in each tab(Sides of the cube). The cube can have hundreds of sides. It IS the ULTIMATE Launch.
I made this special iphone-version for everyone and you can upload all icons and more here: http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/showpost.php?p=1029815&postcount=459
There ist a full working demo-version of ultimatelaunch and you can buy it for 10 Euro:http://pocketland.de/39534/UltimateLaunch.html?SID=d1c64539375a8f367ebbea8474956206
UltimateLaunch is an app that can be downloaded. You may register but may also trial it for free, with no time limit nor feature limit. Merely a "not registered" writing here and there.
It's extremely configuration and you can have multiple plugins per cube as well as variable numbers of sides for the cube.
It is pretty fast and smooth no doubt, and is very close to replacing HTC Cube.

Ok I see, this is the UltimateLauncher program, sorry I misunderstood. Do you or anyone else have any idea if it is possible to have more than one Plugin per cube, right now I have SPB Weather but it only takes up a small portion and I would like to add more smaller plugins to fill that cube instead of making more cubes for small plugins (1-2 lines)???

This is indeed a great plugin. It made me disable my cube, task bar and softkey bar.

Cheers,
nc.
The Ultimate Launch is a blessing for the screensize-impared treos. Ahh... finially the scrollbar is gone. Instead of just having it scroll down, I just made the bottom half of the screen the ultimatelaunch and rotate it out. Looks a-m-a-z-i-n-g

Photo dialling is a little tricky but there are a few ways to achieve it.
You need to change the format of your photos to .ico with a good photoshop tool - GIMP is a good freeware tool to achieve this (make sure you reduce the size of the photo to icon size say 60x60).
Then you need to link a program to do the ringing. Again there are a few options around:
1) cprog.exe -url tel: 12345678910 (this takes you to an editably box where you can change the number before dialling)
2) vijay555's dialler (which will automatically dial the conacts number)
3) gotocontact (which will take you to the default contacts page and give you options to ring mobile/home/business or send a text message).
It is a little tricky, but luckily I don't change my friends too often!
I have to agree that this is great software. I have stopped using cube launchers - as this is always running, is totally customisable and low on memory.
Thanks Lynehammike for the clarifications!
I don't change my friends often either so I'll give your options a go.
Thanks so much since I've been trying for quite awhile to figure out how to do this!
Btw, what's "gotocontact"?
Bloody hell, thanks mate! I kept wondering what the combine was for and found it strange that I could not add more than one plugin.

How can I disable the bottom bar with available tabs?
I got tired of the three step process to install the dialer, SmartDial and graphics everytime I flashed or did a hard reset. So, I made my own .cab installer file.
I combined DxC's excellent minimal dialer (3b), the new SmartDial version of EtPhone.dll with my own graphics and replaced the contents of DxC's .cab file. I edited the EtPhone.dll file to hide the little black rectangle that is left over from the elapst time display. I also edited the layout for the button sizes to better fit the graphics on the "Call Status" page.
I don't really use the landscape version, so I didn't make any changes there. I'm not really sure who the credit for those graphics should go too.
The results are a one step install Dialer with SmartDial, redial and (I think) pretty good graphics.
I hope you enjoy it.
8-3-2008 - I created a white set of files. The graphics line up pretty well but with an all white background the text at the top of the screen doesn't display. It may work off of the system fonts associated with your theme. If so, your in business... Let me know if the skin works with your white theme and I'll finish the process by creating a cab file.
Still no Landscape. and I can't edit the EtPhone.dll sufficently to get rid of the rectangle, or add extra smart dial lines.
8-6-2008 - I think I did it. I got rid of the rectangle. Actually I moved it to the upper left corner on the same line as the dialed phone numbers. I got to looking at the original EtPhone.dll file (Pauly-A E Ten) I realized that DcX actually moved the buttons around to get the wonderful layout we now have. Someone else moved around the layout to make the Smartdial visible (I don't know who) So I figured, instead of hiding it why not just move it...
... so now it is nearly perfect. (the black one, to me) I still can't seem to figure out how to reverse the text color for the white version. I will keep hacking at it. I won't be making any other layout versions, I'm pretty happy with the layout as it is. I may create some new graphics for this layout. Sorry, I can't please everyone. So I please myself and bring along as many as I can with me.
The .cab file below is the newest version with the rectangle fix.
9-11-2008 - I got to tinkering around again. I moved and resized some buttons on the dialer screen. I enlarged the SmartDialer and enabled the BT headset icon. I also cleaned up the graphics. I only changed the main dialer screen. There are black and white versions. I have only tested on the Wizard. Enjoy...
9-25-2008 - Couple of little edits to show the status icons for headset and location. Okay so I also removed the white line down the left side of the Call Status screen on the black version.

Very nice dialer but u didnt solve the rectangle problem hiding the middle of the smartdial. I installed, soft-reset, press green call button to display this nice dialer, then slide out keyboard to see default landscape dialer with no smartdial, then closed hardware keyboard putting the screen back to portrait and low and behold, black rectangle box in the middle of smart dial. Awesome dialer if u can really fix the box problem as well as work on the landscape skin. Good Luck!

Mr. Incredible,
This is a perfect & sharp graphical one, thanks for the effort.
Can I have the same with white background please.
Thanks again.
another observation... I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen, been so long since I've used a smartdialer, but the 1 acts as a wildcard for contact names... again, can't remember if that is an original function of it, or what.
perfect,
i also prefer totally black for better reading...
i don't know if this is possible, but to see 2-3 smartdial lines it would be nice.
but i don't know if this is easy to change ?

I don't really like sunlight. I try to avoid it at all cost. I may be able to replace the EtPhone.dll in DxC's minimal dialer for you. It's white. (mostly)
Also, the all black background isn't possible. I started with a all black background and the 3D effect I applied added a little bit of "off-black" to achieve the effect. I too would like a more black version but the trade off is not as realistic.
Nice job on the dialer. Big buttons and black are perfect for me.

1. Uninstall any other dialers you may have installed. (Not including the original)
2. Copy the cab file to your phone and double click. Soft reset the phone.
Hi guys,
I just got an idea about keyboard for PPC... that will be more finger friendly, PLUS, screen friendly.
Would it be possible to build something like FULL SCREEN keyboard overlay the screen, but still able to see the running software and able to see words is inputting? Just like a transparent keyboard layout on the screen, but doesn't really eat up the screen space. Not sure if I describe well enough. What do you guys think?
I am not a programmer, so I can only hand off my idea and pass the development to any volunteer programmer who has the knowledge and ability to make it.
- andre
Sounds like a great idea
Post your suggestion on the PocketCM.com forum and maybe the keyboard over there could be adapted.
As many of the screens on WM6 are designed for the built-in kb, the dialogue boxes can get cut off if you use an opaque kb.
Thanks. I've done so. I hope to see something like this one day. =)
That is actually a very good idea. I wonder how difficult it would be to do? I know nothing about SIP programming, heh.
Unless I am mistaken, it's impossible to do that as WM6 does not support transparency or graphical layers

I don't think it is... All programs that appear transparent (and there are many, throttlelock, mortbuttons, s2u2 volume etc etc) just take a screenshot of the background and draw over that. Which means that they just appear to be transparent - if things change beneath, you cannot see them, what you see is the screen like it was when you launched the program.
I hope someone corrects me on that, but I am pretty sure it works like that

So make it take a screenshot every second or so...?(Dynamo 3 does that, not for transparency but for thumbnails, but it does that)
I don't know if it's doable. It's easy to get the current screen (what WM is currently painting), but not that easy to get a screenshot of a background program, or the desktop. Programs that do that (eg, CapSure) switch to the program you want to take a screenshot of first, so even if you could switch to the program, take a screenie, and get back to where you were in 1 second, the screen would "flicker" all the time.
About Dynamo, I didn't check the latest versions of Dynamo3, but maybe it takes screenshots of the running (front) program? And I don't think it takes screens every second!
Even if I am wrong (very probable), and it's doable, I don't think it would be very practical! For locking programs, this would totally ruin baterry life. For a "transparent" keyboard, 1 per sec would not be enough, and it would probably ruin responsiveness.
Then again, I never tried to play with screenshots and fake transparency for a WM program, so who knows! Maybe! O_O
I've tried to do that for ThrottleLock. My first choice was using the WM_PRINT window message, but it's not supported for windows mobile ... other choice was to send the WM_PAINT message or a refresh and trying to get the DC associated with the window to use BitBlt to copy it to a target Bitmap... Not luck as the window will not be painted while it's not visible... As far as I know it's not possible... If anyone figures out another way to get it please let me know
todaylife can do that all. fully transparent pngs over a changing background.look at my screenshots of my skins, everything is working in background. dont know how dazzlingdazz made it but its true.
In TodayLife, it's the app itself that's painting the background... So it's easy to paint other stuff on top and still show the main screen underneath. Unfortunately not the same thing we want other applications & wm interface to show beneath the transparency.
Android supports multi-layer drawing for applications, let's hope wm7 has it too.
Some 'marshall wait cursors' are transparent. But I don't know anything how they're working.
I had this idea myself about a year ago, but thought that it is impossible to make a transparent sip, because it is not displayed over a program. It's under it. I don't know how to say in English, but I thought the sip reduce the fullscreen-size.
But maybe someone can write a program that is no real sip but transparent over other programs.
I mean like the phone pad, it is no real sip but used as an input method.
Sorry for my bad english, I hope you can guess what I mean.

Marshall waitcursors work with screenshots too.
The SIP doesn't reduce the screen size, some programs however can detect it and re-draw itself, making it seem like the screen size is reduced - but not all, it doesn't work like that I think
There are already fullscreen keyboards over other programs, that's not the problem, the problem is the transparency
excellent idea.
transparency is supported.
Look at RetroPPC clock. the only thing that I had to do to make my clock transparent, was to use PNG-24 format.
so the clock just revolved on top of the background even when it had to shift for the scroll bars.
in any case, the effect can be achived. what about a flash based keyboard?

[5 nov. 2009] Pointui Phone (Public release)
[4 nov. 2009] Pointui Phone 1.0.06
Phone is focused if attempt is made to launch it again while it was already running (this may have been why some thought it wouldn't start back up
Launching the OS contact card view to edit a contact now works correctly
Any wait cursor code we had in the startup of the app has been removed
The phone now rings correctly on devices like the X1 and Diamond that were not ringing on an incoming call
The favorite area of the home screen is now aligned to the top/left when slid to using the favorite contact button - this is to make it seem a little more friendly, and all squares in that view can have a favorite added - feels a bit more "conventional"
An additional contacts screen was added from the home screen to allow browsing of all contacts
Text color automatically adjusts for favorites that have no photo and display text by taking into consideration the square color
Phone no longer is focused when phone status changes like flight mode
Fixed memory leak with Call History
[29 oct 2009] Pointui Phone 1.0.04b
Incoming call now rings/vibrates as per normal phone settings.
Calls now updates list after removing all calls.
Aligned the Favourite Contacts area of the canvas to be top left so there are rows of 5 blocks and updated image map so there are no blank spots for that immediate area.
Removed Delete option for Contacts

AWESOME Thats all i can say.
Very nice design does it require pointUI?
Nice design ???!!
This design is absolutlely HO-RI-BLE ..
Maybe it's me, but I have never seen something so ugly ... (tried it on my elf)
This time, I am really disapointed ..
Come on, you can do better (should be easy) pointui guys ..
In terms of functionalities either, I don't get the advantage compared to standard winmo dialer ..

It does not seem to require pointui.
OMG OMG OMG
This was the best looking dialer I have seen in... well, it is the best dialer I have seen, period. Nice Montecristoff!!!!!!
meh....looks a bit unorganized as far as the interface. I prefer a clean look myself. it does move very fast and I like the framerate of motion. very smooth transitions. any way to quickly search through contacts by letter like pointui? I hate having to scroll the entire list to get to the bottom.
good start! I noticed this is revolution engine 2.5b....hinting at a pointui update????

I agree that is FUGLY! Not even gonna install it to try it...
Ye ugly in my eyes as well. and it is so disorganised. Something a lot different though if you like it. But for me... no.
I guess we live in a world full of people with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) where everything has to be symmetrical. They tried a different approach, just like everything that is meant as innovation. I honestly don't see the harm in being a little asymmetrical (although I will admit that the choice of colors sucks... and that is putting it in light terms). However, this is a beta people, it is bound to get better as the development continues.
Its abstract...
looks just funny
I don't dig the abstract art style, but I do dig the touch scrollable dialer screen to reach different functions. Very innovative and seems user friendly.

Que!!!!!!!
What's up?! Haven't seen you in a while!
Personal Preference....
I guess it comes down to personal preference... I personally do not care for the color scheme, but I think the concept and execution of the dialer seems very cool.
Maybe come up with other themes (something less abstract and more business-like/professional perhaps?) and you probably have a winner on your hands...

Couldn't agree more
You guys having a go at it for the theme shouldn't be judging a book by its cover:

From the original PointUI thread. There are already 2 themes included, you don't have to run with the 'abstract' looking one as you're all calling it.
oh hell naw
Installed on WQVGA i910 Omnia all seems to be going well. Will report back with any problems.
