[HOW TO] Restore your tablet to stock + Reroot + Flash New Recovery

Before doing anything, make a backup to your external MicroSD card before continuing. Even if this method is very safe, and has been done several times without problems, we can't predict anything that may happen during the process.
RESTORE YOUR TABLET TO STOCK, APPLY ROOT, THEN FLASH A NEW RECOVERY.
This tutorial applies to both P3110 and P3113. They are the exact same models.​
REQUIRED:
Odin ( Take any version you wish. The latest ones should do the trick )
The stock Firmware file. Concerning this part, Google is your friend.
The official Samsung USB Cable that came with your tablet. It is recommended (but optional) to connect your tablet into your computer's built-in USB ports.
The latest Odin-flashable recovery. ( P3113 uses P3110 files )
CF-Auto-Root
Patience
Returning your device to a like-new state.:
1. Boot into Recovery Mode. This can be achieved by holding Volume Up + Power when your device is powered off.
2. Wipe all data. [ Factory Reset ( /data /cache ), System ( /system ) and Internal Data ( /media/storage )
3. Reboot into Download Mode. Usually found on the Advanced Options of most CWM-based recoveries.
It happens that your Tablet cannot boot into Download Mode due to various reasons. There is a battery trick that can be achieved. Do it when you absolutely cannot boot into Download Mode.
1. Remove your tablet's battery.
2. Connect your tablet to your computer
3. Your device should automatically boot into Download Mode.
4. Put back your Battery back into your device.

4. Connect your Tab to your Computer
5. Run Odin as Administrator + Windows XP SP3 Compatibility Mode ( Right-Click > Run as Administrator // Right-Click > Properities > Compatibility > Windows XP Service Pack 3 )
6. Click the "PDA" button, and select the previously-downloaded firmware file.
7. Press Start ( Do not check repartition. It will totally screw up your device. )
8. The installation process will overwrite all data on your device and install the stock firmware.
9. You are done.

Rerooting your device.
1. Reboot your device into Download Mode. From there, you are not obligated to connect your device to your computer.
2. Open Odin as Administrator + Windows XP SP3 Compatibility
3. Connect your Device to the computer.
4. Click on PDA and select the CF-Auto-Root package you previously downloaded
5. Click Start, with Auto Reboot Checked! Again, do not check "Repartition" as it may screw up your device.
6. Wait until it's done.

Installing CWM Advanced Recovery!
1. Reboot your device in Download Mode.
2. Open Odin as Administrator + Windows XP SP3 Compatibility
3. Connect your Device to the computer.
4. Click on PDA and browse the Odin-packed CWM package you downloaded.
5. Click Start, with Auto Reboot Checked! Again, do not check "Repartition" as it may screw up your device.
6. Wait until it's done.

Well when i use Customrom CM 10.1 i decide to back on Stockrom, i format my system and clear all my data so my tab was totaly clean even my customrom was gone so i flash it to stockrom. and yes my tab was totaly FRESH! :good:

Hi, I have PA installed with TWRP installed. I downloaded my firmware from http://samsung-updates.com/. Do I need to flash the stock kernel as well? and stock recovery? Sorry for the noob question.

Maybe I'm just missing it, but I've gone to a couple of firmware sites and I can't find US firmware. Is there anywhere I can get that?

Does anyone have a link that's not to one of these stupid-ass, lame, @#$%ing pay download sites?

I have a similar situation. A previous rooting operation on my Tab2 7 P3113TS was either bad or partial and it appears it will not go into the download mode. power-pgup, power-pgdn, or just power all go to the Samsung splash screen then to a blue VeinDroid rom screen but no further. I tried 3 different version of ODIN and all recognize the device (port goes yellow) but cannot communicate. It stops at the SetupConnection step. Is this thing toast or is there something I'm missing?

[Q] No 3g

i have a Samsung s4 and when i try to connect to 3g ( Settings > Mobile networks > Network mode WCDMA/GSM or WCDMA only) It connects to 3G ( h+) and after a few minutes the network drops and i do not have reception and the only way of getting reception is to go to Settings > Mobile networks > Network mode and change to GSM only (2G) . If i leave it on 2g its fine but the thing is i do not want 2g i am paying 20 euro a month for 3g which i cannot use. All my APN settings are correct as i can connect to 2g and 3g(momentarily). My network provider cannot fix the issue

Go to Apps - Settings - More - About device and make us a screenshot (Home button + Power button) pls :angel:

U are using OMEGA Rom. U have 2 options now:
1. In Build Number u see XXUEML6 (You will have to flash this firmware if u want all go ok)
or
2. Flash STOCK ROM I9505XXUBMEA
or
3. Go to the correct OMEGA ROM thread and ask there

What u gona do? Tell me the option. I recommend u flash STOCK firmware for see if we have more problems. But is your choice

I did not have time to get on a computer last night and i tried installing Kies in work today but i do not have sufficient privileges so i tried *#1234# and it came up with Ap - 19505XXUEAML6 CP -19505XXUBMEA CSC 19505VFGEML1
I bought the phone unlocked in Ireland , i do not know where it ogrignianted from. It could be from Italy

- Download and unrar this file
- Put ur phone in Download Mode (Vol Down + Home button combi... volume up then)
- Conect it to ur PC
- Open Odin in ur PC
- Untick Autoreboot
- Flash modem (Select the button PDA/AP for it and select the file u downloaded in step 1)
- Click Start and wait till finish
- Put ur battery out and in again
- Go into Download Mode again
- Flash Modem once more
- Put ur battery out and in again and reboot ur phone
- If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.
* EDIT: When u finish this process, Go to Apps - Settings - More - About device and make a new screenshot

driver
When i put the phone in download mode and click flash with odin my computer cannot find the driver for MSM8960. I have installed Kies and connected phone

When u do all that process u have to CLOSE completely Kies

[Q] i9505 possibly USB port broken need to go back to stock rom

Hi,
My problem is simple : I have an android i9505 under 4.2 which I rooted (I derooted just yesterday by trying things...) and that'all : never installed a ROM or anything else apart this root thing one day.
When i go to DOWNLOAD MODE it says "Custom" so the Samsung warranty can take it in charge, they say that I have to put it like it was before. Of course I don't have any mention of knox since i'm still in android 4.2
So I want to install a stock ROM but I CAN'T do that with ODIN : I tried 4 PC, 10 USB ports, all the drivers in the world, did a numerous wipe cache and stuff but nothing works : the device (in download mode or in normal btw) is not recognized. In the best cases I have a "unknown device" popping up but no version of Odin recognized the device.
Can I install a stock ROM from the SD CARD ? Because when I start in RECOVERY MODE i can see that i can "apply update from..." but all the tutorial says to install fro example "CWM" and choose "install from zip...". Of course I would like to keep a stock ROM and to not have a know Ox1
So to summarize I have :
- a Galaxy S4 i9505 working, NOT ROOTED (checked with "Root Checker Basic"
- with android 4.2
- apparently which is "Custom" but still the samsung touchwizz stock rom...
- NO WAY to make it work via Odin or anything else because the USB connection doesn't work at all
- an external SD card on what I can install stuff : CWM ? a STOCK ROM ?...

1. Use Triangle Away for reset ur flash counter and change ur status to OFFICIAL.

1 : I have no root so i can't use your method. Plus : my ROM is flaged as "Custom" in recovery mode, note sure if it would make this go away anyway ?
2 : I used this exact guide and a million ways others on internet (connect USB BEFORE odin, after, put the files BEFOR, AFTER...). What make me think that my USB port is broken is that a guy from a phone shop didn't manage either to make ODIN work on his machine. He changed the USB stuff TWICE and suggests me that it was the motherboard who was probably messed... But apparently I have to pay Samsung 65€ for them to take it in warranty since there's a "custom" ROM. I repeat : I never installed a custom ROM ever in my life, I just rooted it long months ago
3 : I took these exact drivers, among others, KIES, KIES 3, different USB ports, differents cables, cleans installations each time, reboot beetween installation, different OS...
I'm out of ideas now....

If u have unrooted sucessfully and if u use memory card on ur device then remove memory card , hard reset ur s4 from recovery format internal memory hard reset again device status returns to official..I tried it on 3 or 4 s4 it works..if u want to use memory card just format it in pc first then insert it in s4 and format it again in s4 ...and plz note hard reset will delete all the data like pics videos everything every app so if u want u can backup things first.

Hi, I want to try your method but just note sure to do it :
1 : hard reset ur s4 = I launch the RECOVERY MODE and i choose "wipe data/factory reset" if i understood it right ?
2 : format internal memory = How do i do that ? Is it an option from the RECOVERY MODE or in the Android system ?
3 : hard reset again like step 1 ?

I did what you said (I think) :
hard reset from recovery mode (factory reset)
reset all from android settings
hard reset again from recovery settings (factory reset)
=> I choose "reboot now" from the menu and went directly into the DOWNLOAD MODE. It's always saying "CUSTOM" ....

NO : because my RECOVERY MODE does not have these option. I just have :
- wipe cache/factory reset
- wipe cache partition (wich seems to work and then show an error)
That's all since I never isntalled any other recovery system on it

1. You can root it again with Kingoroot without void the warranty.
2. Use Triangle away for reset ur flash counter and change ur system to OFFICIAL
3. Update via OTA :highfive:

Like I said it's IMPOSSIBLE for me to me to connect my device by USB : Odin, Kingoroot, heimdall... I tried 4 differents machines, all OS, all USB cables, all USB ports, all clean installation off drivers, KIES, KIES 3, with a samsung guy from a phone shop...
No USB at all. :crying:
BUT I can copy stuff on internal memory wia airdroid or on the SD card : is it possible to install root by this way ?

A BIG thank you for your advices. But... since I am not rooted I cannot use MobileOdin right ? In french we say : "le serpent qui se mord la queue" ie "it's the snake who bites his own tail".
Maybe if I copy files directly on the internal memory ? And install them by RECOVER MODE ?
My USB charging is still working. A samsung guy tried to change 2 times my USB stuff in the phone : same result on his computer, no ay to make it recognize by ODIN it always says "unknown device connected"....

When u conected it to your pc, open C:\Windows\System32\devmgmt.msc and take a look if you see some yellow triangle and paste me one screenshot. Maybe is question of drivers :highfive:

Ok, I will try this. Note that i effectively have a YELLOW TRIANGLE when i boot up the device in "DOWNLOAD mode".
I'll check this file and take a screnshot.
EDIT : Ho sorry you were talking about the yellow triangle that you get in the device manager when you have a bad device installed...
Bad news : my 2 PC doesn't recognize the device anymore. I have to wait on monday to try this on my work computer on which there ONE specific USB ports that recognize it...

Ok, uninstall this driver. Put ur phone in DOWNLOAD MODE and conect it to ur pc. The driver will install again automatically, if not no worries. Plug off ur phone, install this drivers. This will solve ur problems :highfive:

I installed the last drivers : it shows ut the date "19/03/2014" in the programme management interface.
When I plug my phone it's always the same thing : UNKOWN DEVICE
Nothing install. I also try :
- hdwwiz.exe and install the samsung aDB interface by myself but it says error 10 the peripheral couldn't boot
- to clean PERFECTLY the USB port of the S4 : i pulled out all the dust and stuff inside, it's perfectly clean now

[Q] fail to load my galaxy s4 in my computer/

Hi, I think while changeing my rom to Phonix rom without the philz CWM I Destroyd the possibillity to load my phone to ,y computer.
my computer dont recognize my phone at all! not even as a phone.
I have the kies software and the samsung driver on my computer.
Pliz help me!

1. Conect ur phone to ur pc through the USB conector
2. Press now Windows key + R
3. Write there "devmgmt.msc" and press enter
4. Take a look if u have yellow symbol in that list and attach the screenshot

Samsung back to official status + OTA Updates

Hi there!
I saw many questions about returning back to official device status and receveing OTA updates after device was rooted with or without a different custom rom.
All you need is Odin3_v3.09 and your official ROM witch you can download it from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
1. Shut down your device, and turn it on in download mode (VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER) than enter download mode (VOL UP)
2. Install Samsung drivers for your model.. search google
3. Open Odin connect USB cabble wait for connection COM to come blue or yellow
4. Load as PDA / AP your file extracted *.tar.md5, be sure that you didn't tick other than Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time
5. Hit START ! (don't touch your device, don't chuing your cabble ..don't move it .. just do nothing !!!)
6. When you see a green message FINISH in up left corner you can unplug the cabble and just wait for device to boot
Now you are UNROOT-ed .. your KNOX is still 0x1..and that means you cannot use Knox if you try to install / run it will say " Your device is not authorize to use Knox".. BUT you can download OTA updates and everything seems to get back to how it was .. Device status become also Official
You can Re- Root anytime you want..
