Black screen 24/7 - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

Hi all,
I've been reading alot on this forum but never posted anything.
Most of my problems were solved by reading the solutions found by other members with the same problem.
This time that trick doesn't work for me anymore
Here is my problem.
A few days ago the phone went dead after the battery run out of juice (a Mugen extended 3000 Mah battery).
After connecting the phone to a charger I noticed that I didn't see the battery icon on the screen that used to show up during charging.
After a couple of tests I noticed that the phone actually did boot up but the screen doesn't show any signs of life.
I can both hear (tmobile tune) and feel (vibration) the phone booting up.I can even hear it ringing when calling the phone with my other phone but the screen stays black and doesn't show any signs of life.
I must add the following information:the phone has been used extensively as a gps tracker in my car.
Is there a way to solve my problem?
I hope someone can help me out with this weird and unexpected problem.
Thanks in advance!

if you put the phone into download mode does the screen work?
pull the battery and put it back in again
hold vol down home button and with these two buttons held then also hold the power button
if you can see the screen and can see download mode continue to flash stock rom via odin (search for how and note all data on phone will be lost)
if you cant see the screen in download mode chances are you have a hardware fault and should take it to a repair shop for diagnostics

I can't see anything on the screen.
It's black all the time, even when it boots up or receives a call.

either your screen/backlight is faulty or there is a loose connection
if its a backlight you can normally still see somethiing if you hold the screen at an angle
if its the screen itself or a loose connection the screen wont turn on
you will need to take it to a repair shop for testing and repair

Power button not working/permanently locked on

Had my htc a few months now, has been working perfectly, but I hit a problem recently, the power button is no long responsive, in fact it seems as if it's constantly "on" pressing it does nothing whilst the device is running, and when i restart my phone i get a window saying "You will lose any saved work if you choose to shut down" (or whatever it normally it says when you turn the phone off). Now as you can imagine this is quite frustrating, I can return the phone from stand by removing and replacing the stylus, but it's also constantly draining battery (it now lasts less than 8 hrs with nothing running).
Any ideas?

TC,
You probably should send it in under warranty if you can. If not, you might have to open it and take a look and see where exactly is the powerbutton getting jammed.
Cheers.
please plugin ur charge oringinal not usb synch CP.AFTER 10min check ur device
Does that help? I've got the same problem, and I've read the six or so other threads on power button problems, but to no avail.
I lost my original power cable - I would buy one if it would fix the problem.
Cheers for any help, I feel like my phone's broken an arm!
I had the same problem. I was told to slide a thin card like a playing card under the plastic power button and gently open the gap slightly enough for you to blow hard under the button. Try blowing all around under the button from all angles. Gently lifting up button slightly. Let me know if it helps. Worked for me.
i have same problem it hapen when i have the phone couple days without batery inside strange anyone know how to fix it ? to be more funny i go to repair center not official and it start working propely ''magic hands'' after couple hours go back to switch on all the time i did open my device is without warranty clean the buton and staff and still the same
confused
gays good news i get my one fixt on the power buton you have black tape if you removed my one works now prfect just if somone want to open his hd

[Q] Unusual symbol: Phone -- ! -- Computer

So, I've been trying to restore my phone after some modding gone bad...but now, I've gotten to the point where I can't even get to the green battery screen. My phone won't turn on, and it'll only display this screen with a phone icon connecting to a yellow triangle which is connecting to a computer.
Has anyone gotten this before?
More importantly, is this fixable? Or am I gonna have to file an insurance claim for a "phone that got dropped in a lake" this week?
Use the search option. It will do wonders. This has happened plenty of times before. ODIN can fix the problem.
1. Take out battery, put it back in. (to turn the phone fully off)
2. Don't turn it the phone on!
3. Plug the phone into your PC, do not hit the power button!
4. See if the phone shows anything on the screen
IF the phone screen does show the battery charger or something else on the screen after being plugged in without you hitting the power button, so far so good.
5. Now while it's on like this, hold the volume up and volume down buttons.
6. Hold the power button as well as the volume buttons until the screen goes black.
7. As soon as the screen goes black, let go of the power button! But DON'T let go of the volume buttons!

The best luck i had getting my phone into download mode was pulling the battery, putting it back in. holding vol up+down and plugging it in. instead of going to charging, it goes to download immediately.
All messages related to "3 hardware key combo to get back to download mode so that you can use ODIN to restore", or "use adb to get to download mode so you can use ODIN" only work when the 3 hardware key combo work in the first place, or your PC can recognize the phone for adb to work
I am one of the unlucky one that does not have this 3 hardware key combo working, and am also in this sad state (Phone-!-PC). As a result, PC is not seeing the phone, so adb is out of the question right now
My phone has been like this since last Thursday (a failed attempt to use ODIN to flash JAC's OC/Ext4 kernel). All my reading so far does not give me a fuzzy feeling that I can ever get back to Download mode (ON MY PHONE)
I called my carrier for a replacement, and it should arrive this morning...
If someone can actually get to download mode WITHOUT the 3 hardware key combo OR adb access, I would love to know how
Had the EXACT same problem. Here is how I fixed it:

Glad that this work for you
But not for me, for some unknown reason
No SIM
No SD Card
Pulled battery out
Make sure screen is off
Put battery in
Hold Volume up/down
plug USB cable to phone
plug USB cable to PC
Bam! Phone-!-PC
Update: Got my replacement phone.
Have SIM in
Have SD Card in
Leave Battery in
Turn off Phone
Hold Volume up/down
plug USB cable to phone
plug USB cable to PC
Instant Download mode!
Just as I read, it's a luck of the draw whether you have a TMobile Vibrant that has the 3 button key combo disabled. My first one doesn't have it. My second one does

VZW Note 3 Plug in power issue

Hello,
First I've looked everywhere for the last three days on something about this and I can find nothing so I come to you in a new thread for help.
I have a Verizon Note 3
SM-N900VZKEVZW
I'm having an issue where if I take the battery out and put a new one in I need to plug the phone in before I can power it on. I was running Hyperdrive but I reverted back to stock.
Here is an example of the issue.
If I shut down the phone and don't remove the battery I can press the power button and it will power on just fine; however, if I shut down the phone to put in my second battery that is fully charged or just take out the original battery and put it back in the power button does nothing until the phone is plugged in. When I plug the phone it the battery icon will come on.... the screen will freeze with a snow screen and then go to the stock battery changing screen at which point I can use the power button to power on the phone.
Another weird thing is I cannot boot in to recovery with by holding the power button and down on the volume button if I do this the phone will just keep looping at the Samsung screen with a lock on it; however if I boot in to recovery through safe strap I can get there.
I've done a factory reset and reinstalled the rom and recovery and I still have this issue.
Attached Images are the snowy screen and the screen that will keep rebooting if I try to get to recovery with power and volume down. (now the snowy screen has changed to a battery screen superimposed with the safe strap screen it only shows up for a second before going to the battery charging screen)
Please someone help!
Second question what should I do if I need to send the phone back to samsung? Or should I just deal with the battery thing? Other than that the phone works fine.
Thank you.

Is my phone done for? (Cant bot/charge/enter download mode/no response)

So few days ago my phone suddenly turned off and kept rebotting itself (It would reach the samsung galaxy logo and then turn off). I thought it was a battery issue so I removed it for 30mins and tried again, worked fine for an hour then problem started again. I left it over night to charge in the wall socket incase.
Same issue next morning and no solution.
I replaced the battery with a friends and the same issue happened on my phone (i used my battery on his and it works fine on his) so I removed the issue of battery itself.
That evening the phone then just stopped responding at all. It would not respond to pressing the power button (no load, no vibration).
Tried entering download mode using vol down + home + power. Nothing. (So cant use Odin)
Tried entering recovery mode using vol up + power. Nothing
Tried hard reset using vol up + power + home. Nothing.
(All the steps I used a fully charged battery from another s4 phone and removed/re-entered before trying again)
So I check online and notice some people having issues with power button, but even if that is the case - wouldn't my phone still charge? I dont even get the battery chargning icon on the screen when plugged in either PC or wall socket.
I opened it up and changed the motherboard with another samsung s4 and my original problem mobo still does not load on the new s4. (My new mobo worked on the old device though).
The ONLY response I got was when I used my original mobo on new s4 device and plugged it into PC, it popped connect and then disconnect sound and thats it (doesnt recognize usb port).
What are my options apart from getting another motherboard or going to a shop for a JTAG repair? I was contemplating just removing the power button and seeing if that helps in getting a charge response lol
Well your power button is broken for sure. Replace it and then test it.

It always takes a few seconds before it starts to charge. So maybe the device reboots before reaching the charging phase. I'm guessing though. But since your problems started with power button issues it would be the logic place to start.
The part only costs a few dollars.
Well I'm exactly in the same situation as you, since this morning on a i9505 running JFLTPE-GPE 5.0 ROM. The screen appears for 1 second or 2 (Samsung logo) then it powers off . I need to remove the battery to try something else.
Same behaviour, even for recovery mode, so Odin is not an option.
I thought that changing some kernel settings have caused that, but as I just put them back to default values, it should not happen.
I didn't have some power button issues, it was just powered off at my wake up this morning. In your case, does your phone vibrate and power up instantly when you put the battery ? That's the case for me, but it should not be the normal.
My problem is actually solved : indeed, it was the power button. I removed all the screws and played a little with this power button (air dust, etc...), enough to make it start correctly !
I managed to do some backups, and now I hope that it won't break again.

Yeah, that happened before (automatically powering up, vibrating, going to samsung logo and then shutting down and doing it again until I removed battery - putting the battery back in with start it up without pressing the power button).
When it was in that phase, the one thing that did work was doing a soft reset (home+power+down vol, and then holding just power) - however that only worked for like an hour before it went back to the restart phase.
However now it doesn't respond to anything at all. (Any kind of response I got was when I put that mobo in another s4 and plugged in usb, which just gave a connected/disconnect sound on w7, no life on the phone itself).
Be very careful as to what you do, I suggest you do NOT leave the battery on it and charge it (which was the last thing I did before it went unresponsive) - my guess is phone went haywire trying to turn on/off continously.

Black Screen Unresponsive

I got a new update for my phone and after it finished applying, my phone won't turn on. The screen is black but when i plug it into my computer i can hear the usb jingle. I tried all the button combinations but its unresponsive.

Yea, I'm going to take it to a service center cause it seems like there's nothing I can do on my side.

Did you take the phone in for service? What did they do to fix it, if they fixed it... I have a dead phone and need some answers if they are out there. I'm looking through every post that has anything to do with this subject and coming up blank - just like my phone's screen!
Part of my issue is that I had a shut down from out of nowhere on NYE. I was able to bring it back up with the power, volume up, and Bixby combo the next day. Foolishly I assumed it was a fluke and went right back to using my phone just as I had before. I saw an article about disabling the Bixby button, which seemed to be the thing to do... When the phone shut down the next day again, I couldn't bring it back because I no longer have a Bixby button for the combo. It's been down since Jan. 2, and I'm at my wit's end. Can you please update your phone status? I'd appreciate it if you can!

Lol disabling the bixby button in software does not mean you can't trigger download mode. That level of software has no idea what packages you disabled ?
Did you have Substratum themes applied before updating?

Happened with me last night, bunch of updates and then black. I was gonna send to warranty, then someone told me Power + Bixby + Vl down and it worked. How can I find out what did it
When I called Samsung, they were clueless how to get it started again as we walked through all the button combinations they had. It was fully charged when it stopped working, both times. The second time it took me a few days of trying on my own, calling, Samsung and then going into their repair store.
They took it back to work on it after I explained what was going on. He tried several things and came out and told me it may need a replacement but wanted to try one more thing. Hours later, he came back and said he hooked it up to a charger and it had been dead. Once it started charging, it showed the green battery, lightning bolt and blinking circle. It still didn't start normally, but the three button combo worked at around 20%. I'm not sure if he tried before that, but it came back on.
I've discovered that my handset is extremely sensitive to cold temperatures and shuts down. I'm in the Midwest and have been working outside in a tent like structure. I listen to music, books, or podcasts while I'm working. Many times, I will put my phone on a shelf while charging but still listening. The phone shuts off and first I have to wait for it to warm up, then it has to drain the fully charged battery, and then I start charging it again. After the first time on my own, I did the button combo right after it started taking a charge and it worked.
I'm not sure if a replacement phone is the way to go, because if this is common on the S8, I might end up with another dud that would just frustrate me more. I like the phone, but this quirk is annoying.
Last night my phone was charging and accessible fine. This morning I have a green light at the top showing I assume that it's charged but the screen is totaly black. nothing I do brings up any screen. I tried all the button combos I tried plugging it in to the charger and nothing shows any kind of reaction. I tried plugging it into my computer and the computer said it was setting up device QUSB_BULK. Then said it was set up but even after it supposedly complete I could not find the device. What the hell?
S8 Black Screen
Is the green light staying on? This happened to me on one of the many shut down times I experienced. I think I narrowed it down to my phone not liking cold temperatures, but I don't know if that is your phone's issue. It hasn't happened since last winter, so I haven't needed to do any of this for quite some time, but I'm trying to remember all of the steps I took.
I'm gonna suggest getting the battery drained back down to zero. In order to drain the battery when it's black screened, I kept trying all the button combos repeatedly for, it seems like, maybe three or more days... I couldn't tell if it was dead on several of the occasions, but when I had an indication light, it went off after days of doing any and all button combos, just to drain what battery I could.
Once you do that, while keeping it out of any extreme temps, (if there have been any) then plug in the adapter that came with it, using a good quality USB-C cord and charge it again and see if the charging screen comes up. (The Fast Adapter Charger that connects with USB 3.o is the best to use. Samsung wanted me to use the original cord, but I have no idea where that is! I just used a good quality cord.)
If that doesn't do the trick, then it's not the same issue I had, and I wish you luck on finding out and getting it fixed! Don't forget to update the site for others to find out if your tricks work... (You can still try this, but it may be just to rule it out as a possibility.) Try draining it more than you first did, and then plug it in again to see if it takes a change.
If it is taking a charge again after draining and plugging in your power cord, wait until you get back up to at least 20% and then try the three button start (Bixby / Power / Volume Up at the same time) and make sure you hold them for up to 30 seconds or until it kicks on. One time, I think I held it for almost a full minute. But it did take the change, restarted on the three button combo restart, and didn't have any new issues from its down time.
If this works for you, come back and tell us! If not, come back and report what you try and what the results are.
I really hope that helps! Good luck!

Sounds like a system problem, you can try to use the button to force a reboot, if there is no response, you can try to reinstall the system, if this still can not be solved, then you may need to replace the new screen, you can go to Witrigs to see Note 8 screen, they There is an original Note 8 Super AMoled screen for sale. The price is also relatively low.
