Kitkat pattery drain issue - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok this is what happned !
2 days back I received the OTA kitkat update for my galaxy s4 enoxys version. I downloaded the update but during installation of the update an error popped up and installation failed. My phone restarted and I redownloaded d update. The update process was successful the second tym. But now I am experiencing a crazy battery drain. I read somewhere about the google services draining battery for 4.2.2. So I turned d services off and I am still experiencing battery drain. I havent done a factory reset on my phone. Should I do that ? Or the problem is sumthin else? Need help

go to sammobile.com look up your firmware and reflash it

roms
try calibrating the battery as you can calibrate any Li-Ion battery by draining it completely and then charging it to 100%.
if didn't work i think factory reset is your first option Or go to android development and find a rom that suits you

[Q] Battery life on 9500 after OTA firmware upgrade

Hi,
I got S4 I9500 on 27th April and the battery was fine and was draining about 4-8 % during night and that seemed normal. Then I did an OTA firmware update to Android 4.2.2 XXUAMDE and since then the phone started draining around 15 % during nights and in comparison it drained a lot during standby. I decided to do a factory reset and now it seems fine. I read in several forum that OTA update messes up the battery life and we have to do a factory reset to fix that. Is there any way to avoid a factory restore every time I do an OTA update or is there any way to update it by connecting it to a PC like samsung KIES, does that prevent such issues ? I'm coming back to android after using apple for 2 years, so I'm kind of a noob
Thank you !
I have a 9505, my battery life reduced a lot too when I updated to ME2. Such a disappointment. I did a factory reset but it didn't fix my problem, though I had flashed back to stock firmware after playing with root.
Is there a out of the box rom without the update that I could try flashing?

OTA causing problems

i have a GT I9500 and whenever i update through OTA it gets updated successfully but after the update android system starts draining my battery. around 70% battery goes to the android system. this problem occurs untill i do a factory data wipe.
no matter what the OTA is this problem occurs.
help would really be appreciated.
Thanks.

Android System on top of Battery Stats

Im wondering why android system is on top or most of the time in par with screen statistics on battery stats. Previously it would settle down at 11% or less but now its up or more than 20%. Wondering what causes this behavior . Even after a fresh format and few minutes of usage Currently running stock 4.4.2 KitKat not rooted. I noticed that this happend after i tried to root my device. Not sure if its a coincidence. Anyone got same issue? its just my battery isnt as good as before

Did you try to reboot the device? Sometime this simple trick may help.
Or you may need to update the firmware.
What is your firmware version? Is it the latest one? Check for the latest firmware for your device in Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Firmware Browser'.
It's bugged.
It'll list Android System as highest usage even after 4 hours of heavy gaming, with the game at 3-8%. In every battery monitor.
Ya e reboot might have fixed it for awhile and wiping cache.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Battery percetange after upgrade to lollipop 5

Hi
I have upgraded my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to lollipop 5 (N9005XXUGBOH8).
I did a wipe cache partition and wipe data/factory reset.
I have no issues with the new Software, the only issue is that the battery % go down very quickly.
Is there a fix or steps to fix the issue?
TX u in advance.
I'm facing the same problem. After Having a full charge, battery dropped 3% upon booting phone. Currently using aryamod7. 2 and lean kernel.
Check if your apps are using too much Mobile Radio, it's rather common in Lollipop and so far there is no solution. Other than that, download BetterBatteryStats and check if there is any app causing your phone to remain awake thru wakelocks.

Restarting phone?

I was using my phone one day and it just started restarting. It kept on restarting over and over again. When I plugged in the charger, the phone stopped restarting and was able to turn on normally. The battery was 50% when it started to continuously restart. Once I plugged in the charger, it showed me 50%. After turning on (plugged), I unplugged it, and it took about 20 mins then it's restarting again.
What is the problem with the phone and what should I fix?
Hello,
I have the same problem with my S5 (G900H). I was on Android 5 Lollipop and received the 6.0.1 OTA update and after that the phone became unstable and keeps restarting (unless I connect it to the USB charger).
I have flashed it with Odin and the issue persists. Let's see what we can do to get these phones working again.
Did you received an update recently? What model is your phone? Have you flashed or made a factory reset?
I have the update but the problem happened way after I got it. Unrooted and no factory reset done.

I flashed it with a new stock ROM released from Samsung and now I don't have recovery mode. Keep reflashing with other ROMs to see what happend.
I have fixed the problem. It seemed to be a dodgy battery. Got it replaced.

I'm gonna find a new battery and test it. Thanks.
The new battery will be delivered tomorrow night....
Problem SOLVED!!! Got the new battery and my phone is working again.
Could Samsung thru its OTA updated damage the battery to make you get the new galaxy?
My battery was fine until I got the OTA update!!
Yeah there is a possibility for that but I cant be 100% sure
