[Q] Battery life on 9500 after OTA firmware upgrade

Hi,
I got S4 I9500 on 27th April and the battery was fine and was draining about 4-8 % during night and that seemed normal. Then I did an OTA firmware update to Android 4.2.2 XXUAMDE and since then the phone started draining around 15 % during nights and in comparison it drained a lot during standby. I decided to do a factory reset and now it seems fine. I read in several forum that OTA update messes up the battery life and we have to do a factory reset to fix that. Is there any way to avoid a factory restore every time I do an OTA update or is there any way to update it by connecting it to a PC like samsung KIES, does that prevent such issues ? I'm coming back to android after using apple for 2 years, so I'm kind of a noob
Thank you !
I have a 9505, my battery life reduced a lot too when I updated to ME2. Such a disappointment. I did a factory reset but it didn't fix my problem, though I had flashed back to stock firmware after playing with root.
Is there a out of the box rom without the update that I could try flashing?

[Q] Tried downgrading unrooted i9500, now it's Soft Bricked

I had received a small OTA update (about 26 MB) on my i9500 one day which upgraded it from MJ5 to MJ9, but I was facing severe battery issues since then. Like, it would take over 3 hours to charge completely and battery would completely drain in 7 hours even when device is idle and power saving mode is enabled, often it was discharging even when plugged. Then things got more serious, like it wouldn't even charge at all, battery was stuck at 1% for several hours. I somehow managed to get it to 27% and then decided to downgrade back to MJ5, using the firmware from SamMobile. I flashed it with Odin but then things went wrong, the process failed, and my device won't boot at all. All it says is,"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". I tried again to flash it, but same results.
There was essential data in my device, which wasn't backed up. I want to recover my device without losing any data. That's the major priority. And a minor one is to try to resolve the battery issues.
I need the help urgently, anything anyone could tell me would be highly appreciated.

AT&TS4 freezes after ota update

My sister's sgh-i337 recently received an ota update. This update brought it up to Android version 4.4.4. The phone is not rooted and is completely stock. Since the update the phone will intermittently freeze up for about 30-40 seconds. It happens a lot when she swipes to answer a call but also happens randomly as well. Is this a known issue? Are there any solutions? I have booted to recovery and cleared the caches but that didn't help.

You could try one of the back up programs to My Backup to back up app data & photos then try a factory reset. Also you could check for the 5.01 Ota update that was released last month I think and see if that fixes it. Just be forwarned that some people have reported issues with the 5.01 update but said a factory reset fixes them.

On stock, update fails at 32%

I am on OA4 stock but for some reason when trying to take the system update it fails always at 32%. I tried restoring to facotry then taking it, no apps are disabled.
Any idea how to fix this ?
Thanks
I am having the same issue on my S7Edge from ATT. 32% then fails. Haven't been able to update security since February

Galaxy S8 G-950F (Exynos model) - Battery drain

Dear all,
I am facing a weird issue with the latest update on my S8 (stock ROM). The phone is NOT rooted. When I installed the latest OTA update, I noticed that Android and Kernel consume the most of the battery every day. This behavior occurred again with an older update but then it was fixed with a subsequent update.
No the thing is that I cleaned the Cache partition and the issue remained. I decided to flash the ROM with Odin and performed a clean install of the ROM. The issue remains the same. I have even installed less apps compared to the apps I used before.
Please see attached screenshots. I am trying to figure out what is the issue. I didn't have this issue prior the latest update (1 September 2018 security patch)
Thank you.
I performed a factory reset as I had similar issue. The battery drain issue seems to be resolved. I also installed much fewer apps than before.
My suggestion is to go for safe mode before doing a factory reset or uninstall all apps which are not essential and again monitor.
