Hello friends,
I have rooted Galaxy i9505 international. Installed CWM based recovery 6.0.3.2(0611), and flashed last stable CM (cm-10.2.1-jfltexx).
Boot time have become longer (way longer) since installing CWM based recovery.
Couldn't find a decent post about how to:
1) Revert back to stock recovery.
or
2) Change the CWM based recovery to official CWM.
Anyone know how to do either?
Or maybe had the same problem with CWM based recovery?

Did you consider trying a different recovery (PhilZ) or a different ROM?
Look for a recovery you want to try if its a zip file flash it with CWM and if its odin file flash it with odin.

The latest CM snapshot booted a bit faster.
Actually after all those attempts I can't really remember how long did it take to boot before installing CWM..
But it does seems slower.

I prefer to flash the original CWM.
How can I flash it on top of the CWM based recovery?
Files there are img files.
Look in xda development section you will find it zip format or i think you can download a zip file of another recovery and the replace the recovery within the zip file with the one you want to flash.
If you want to flash it in .img format you can do that with heimdall but you will need the pit file of 19505 too.

Could not find any ZIP of the official Clockworkmod Recovery.
Is there any other way to install it?
Or better yet, a way to revert to stock recovery (from there I can install as in the beginning)?
Btw, is it ok to just replace recovery? Or should I "uninstall" my old recovery before installing the new one?

Downloaded, flashed and now have ClockworkMod 6.0.4.7
Thank you.
Just for future knowledge, does anyone knows how to revert to stock recovery?

Hi,
You will get stock recovery if you flash a stock firmware.
There are also some stock recoveries listed HERE

I'm currently running Acer_A500_0.022.00_WW_GEN1 with unlocked bootloader and tweaked kernel... have CWM as recovery...
If I want to flash another official leak (like theAcer_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1 that was just released) do I need to use stock recovery? If so, how do I get to stock recovery with CWM installed?
I'm not intending to flash it now... just curious about the proper process.
I appreciate the help!
look for touch recovery by thor2002ro on tegraowners. This is the best recovery for A500 for now

Hmmm.... isn't it the CWM users who have all the issues getting their CWM recovery images corrupted lately when running leaked ICS roms?
RA Recovery. Less things to do when you flash. More options.
Both have touch recovery.

I already have Thor's CWM installed with the ICS leak.. working great thanks to some very smart people! (You just have to delete a file before flashing to preserve CWM)
I've figured out that I need to switch to stock recovery... just was hoping for a key combo or something!

To install the stock recovery you can just dd if=recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 from a root shell where recovery.img is the recovery image extracted from the zip file of a stock leak. Then you can reboot into the stock recovery and flash the latest leak and flash a new bundle with CWM, BL & kernel for that version

Guys I am using stock rooted android 4.3 ROM with TWRP recovery (Probably 2.6.0.0). Now I want to upgrade it to Kitkat but I read you can't do it using TWRP recovery. Kindly guide me how can I switch it to CMW one? Thanks in Advance!

you can use twrp, just update to the newest version of twrp. you can flash recoveries via fastboot or an app called flashify.

You can flash s cwm touch zip file in twrp recovery and then reboot recovery and you will get the cwm touch recovery..:good:
Question - how did you get your first recovery on your phone. Its no different for the second one... You just have more choices on how to do it now thats all
its possible to flash within TWRP itself, but i chose to do it with fastbot command line and the recovery img. it just overwrites TWRP and you get CWM then

Not an "easier" way to flash a new recovery??
Hi all, I met a problem after flashing cm-11-20141028-NIGHTLY-mb52x.zip.
I cannot enter Custom Recovery (TWRP) any more. Other functions are OK, but I cannot upgrade to new ROM now.
Is there a simple way to restore Custom recovery in CM11?
Otherwise, I will have to use the method: "flashing stcok ROM (Android 2.3) -> root -> 2nd Init -> flashing Custom recovery", to restore it.
Thanks in advance.

Hi jh20, thanks for the information.
I checked the post you provided. However, my problem is that I cannot enter the Custom Recovery anymore, let alone flashing another ROM.

perhaps i should explained a little more. these are based on memory as i haven't done these a while now.
cwm recovery had been permanently removed from cm11, and you can only flash cm10 and not anything earlier (cm7 or cm9) with cm11's twrp because of ext4 partition. so as long as you can still get into twrp, you can flash cm10 which still has both twrp "and" cwm recovery. cm10's cwm recovery allows you to repartition it back to ext3 and hence allows you to flash cm7.
i did a little google on how to revert from cm10, and here are the hits:
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=...hannel=sb&gfe_rd=cr&ei=rXBiVP7-GqGN8Qfiz4HYCw
and the first one on xda:

if you need more just read the other posts. hope they help.
Thanks a lot, jh20.
I think I made a mistake in the post, that I was not use CWM recovery in CM11, it is TWRP recovery instead. I've update my post to reflect this.
So the problem is that I cannot enter TWRP recovery any more, and cannot flash another ROM or anything via TWRP recovery.
Is there a simple way to restore TWRP recovery, otherwise I have to start from scratch by flashing stock ROM, ...
I'm not trying to go back to CM7.2.

Sorry, not with my knowledge. So unless some experts/developers here have any ideas, you might have to start from scratch.
Hi,
I got a Galaxy Y for trying and learn how to install CWM and Cyanogenmod.
I have entered recovery mode, installed CWM, but now instead Android, it boots into CWM.
What can i do for avoid this? How can i install CWM from SD card instead the stock recovery? I have read Google found guides, but something i made wrong, and this is why CWM boots instead Android.
Thanks for any help

There are two types of cwm for galaxy y
1- temp cwm is a zip you flash in stock recovery each time you want to enter cwm
2- permanent cwm is a cwm that is built into a custom kernel and replaces the stock kernel & recovery
Now to your problem - you have probably flashed an incompatible kernel for the rom you are using hence it won't boot
Either flash a correct kernel for your rom or flash stock rom via odin & start again (will wipe phone)
See my firmware thread for stock rom firmware - links in my signature
As for cyanogenmod you have with cm7 or cm11 - both require different kernels with different inbuilt cwm versions - read the instructions on the rom threads
Also please note questions go in the question and answer section
