Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 port? - Sailfish General

MOD EDIT: Thread closed. Please see this thread for more information.
Will Galaxy S be able to run Sailfish? Also is if it does is there port for it yet?

Once they release the image compatible with ARM processor's it should be possible to port them to most devices. Would love to get my hands on such an image so I can start building. Can't wait!

it will be no factory images for Jolla phone

Delete this thread. If you don't every joe blow will see it as a green light to make another "port for my unimportant phone" thread. That's fine if there are actually many ports out there but at this time it is just noise.

Can it be recompiled for ARM? I know w/ the android emulators when an SDK was realeased they could inject it into a ROM for use, like when the 2.1 SDK came out, dev's used it to make a ROM...and if this is a true sys dump shouldn't it be even easier to re-compile for arm? or am i just talking out my arse..(probly am)

I'm not sure what you are asking for...
Android/Google hasn't released the Source Code yet. So no developer has it. as of right now you can use a SDK port but many of the main features aren't working.
when they goin to port ics in to my touch?

I don't care what the Nexus S is running. We don't own Nexus S phones. Google has not released the source code for Android 4.0 yet. So no developer has it in their hands. EVERYTHING that is out there is a build from the SDK, so there will be flaws.
for a week or two there was a SDK port floating around here on XDA. the thread has been removed due to instability (or some other TOS)... but here is proof of my statement. http://omgdroid.com/2011/10/25/ice-cream-sandwich-4-0-1-sdk-port-mytouch-4g/

Im itching to try and port ICS, but an SDK port isn't what you want to work with if it can be avoided.
Title is quite confusing, I don't know is your inquiring about when ICS went to the MT4G or something else.
If you really want to use an SDK you can A) port it yourself B)Buy a nexus C)Wait for source D)use ICS theme & launcher

As far as I know, that build never made it past boot looping. I don't think the "dev" even had a MT4G, so there was no way he could get it working. He had similar posts for several devices for which he was attempting to get working ICS.

You're welcome.
It is available for Ubuntu Desktop... I've just tried searching for jabber on the phone and returned no useful results. Maybe check with the developers of the IM you are currently using to see if they are going to release a version.
Pity.
Yes, I already made a feature request for an Ubuntu Touch version. Hope they will consider. To me jabber/xmpp is essential.

Nougat was still available for Nexus 6 I believe, which is where 32bit sources came from. There won't be O on the Nexus 6.
Maybe a dumb question. If there will be no 32-bit versions, then what is the "O Developer Preview emulator system image (32-bit & 64-bit)", part of the Android Studio 2.4 "Canary" available at developers.android.com?

Yes, right now some 32/64 bit switches are activated at compile time but when the sources are for 64 bit only those switches are not present, therefore you have to adapt all the sources manually.
I'm not talking about blobs but plain code.

As long as sources are plain code, it's possible to recompile for any architecture. It's not possible to use 64-bit blobs with 32-bit compilation, but with plain code I see no reason to drop Lineage for 32-bit devices.
But who knows, maybe this is too much effort. I hope we wil see O for bacon.

Damn... you may be right. 32-bit support won't be there for Google Play Services. This is very bad news.
Let's wait for Android emulators for developers. We'll see if arm32 system images for O will be there. If so, there is a hope. Just checked, there are no any O images available for download in my Android Studio sdk manager yet. They should be available soon.
