HyperDrive's Viper Audio feature breaks Hangouts video - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

(HyperDrive R6 install/Verizon Note 3)
Every time I tried to make a video call on hangouts it would crash. After doing some research online I found on another forum that the Viper audio app was causing this bug. The latest version off that app takes care of this issue. I saw this problem on the ROM's post but I couldn't replay due to the 10 post nanny rule. I guess this is my 1/10. I dirty flash the ROM again but this time did not install the Viper feature and it works fine now.

[Request] [Dev Needed] Call recording in Android for HD2

There are WM roms with built-in call auto recording feature that does a great job in call recording. For android, all apps does call recording via speaker phone instead of in call recording. AirVoice is the only app I know that does a perfect call recording within the call and not with speaker phone on. However, HD2 is not supported.
Now, other android devs for other devices are successful in achieving perfect call recording: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806451
Is there any devs that can spare a few moment in making this to work on HD2?
Thanks to all devs for making Android runs on HD2
+1 for this request.. generally I have to switch to WM6.5 for this basic feature

I installed CallRecorder from the market. It works adequately for me. The other parties voice is a bit low though (since it doesn't use speaker).

Yes, I understand what you mean. The low volume is due to the recording method. Instead of recording directly from within the phone, it records using the phone's mic for both in and out voices. This makes the volume low for listening the other person's voice and very loud for my own speaking voice.
i oso hope tis will work on HD2~hope some1 manage to fix it~
any recent update of the 2 way call recording in android?
Looking for this as well.. Tested ALL Android apps i could find (free, trial, warez), and none have 2 way call recording without using speakerphone.
At the moment this is preventing me to switch to Android fully, because i need those calls logged and recorded..
Speakerphone works, but quality is just not as good, and there is a lot of noise in background. And, doesn't keep the conversation as private as it should..
Hope someone gets it to work..
It's not an HD2 specific request, Android simply does not support call recording, there's no API. It's a touchy subject because of privacy issues - yes, most other OS'es have it but that doesn't change anything, Google's wary about it.
Until this is changed - or custom bases like CM (they've actually been talking about it very recently) incorporate it, not gonna happen.
I'm sure on MIUI there's "call tools" and from there you can record?

Ah, I wasn't aware. MIUI is a custom base too though, which means that until other bases have this too, a MIUI rom is the only option of having call recording. Can't be done without changing the framework.

Oh well that sucks. MIUI is an amazing ROM/whatever it is.
If you don't mind me asking, are there any other custom base ROMs? New and want to try out some cool looking ROMs.

CM and MIUI are the most-spread custom bases. CM has a lot of 'sidebases', they're basically the same save for a few changes here and there.
DesireHD Sense for example is also another base, but not really custom.

I FOUND A 2 WAY CALLRECORDER!!
Download link:
http://hotfile.com/dl/119559773/b5b0c76/Hd2_android_working_call_recorder.zip.html
I installed android a few days ago on NAND on hd2.
I was having the same problem, couldnt find a normal 2 way call recorder.
BUT I FOUND IT!
I merged some packs together into one file.
First install the .apk inside of it. If that doesnt work try to install one of the 3 zips.
It worked for me. . The other side is even louder than you, so should be able to be heard.

axe_1337 - Can you disclose the source of this app / source files? Anything on compatibility with the HD2 ROMs?
Has anyone tried this app? Feedback please
(I will be trying it early next week - travelling now).
remember to use kernel tytung r10, which enabled call record 2 ways already

How and where to install these zip files
The link posted above is dead. Is there any other solution that works for HD2 with modern kernels like Fikret's 2.16 ?
2 Way Call Recording (2WCR) has been available for HD2 for a while now. Check Tytung's kernel thread for link to a working app. All recent kernels support the feature.

[Q] CM7 & YouTube

(This probably belongs in dev forum, but I can't post there yet.)
I'm wondering about the status of CM7 and the YouTube app. I've heard comments that it doesn't work... but it works for me *after* opening a video from Opera Mini.
1) Open YouTube app, play video == sound, but no video.
2) Tried in standard browser, only plays in browser if I change user-agent
3) Tried in Opera Mini, clicking a video launches the YouTube app and it plays.
4) YouTube app now appears to work fine.
Any idea what's going on with this?
EDIT: I'm running Ladios' CM7-RC4-KANG ROM.
I just opened the YouTube app for the first time since a clean install of CM7 RC4 (w/ Ladios's kernel). I had installed the YouTube app days ago when I did the clean install, but haven't run it until now. (I know for sure because it just asked me if I want to accept the agreement when it started.) I just clicked on the first video I could find and it played with video and sound without any problem. I'm not sure why you're having problems.

+1 - new install of YouTube on CM7 N37, no problem playing any videos.
Interesting. Maybe I was just experiencing a glitch then. I'll update the thread if I encounter the issue again. Originally I was thinking that Opera may have caused a particular module to load that the YouTube app hasn't. If I'm able to reproduce the situation in my original post and stock CM7 works then maybe it's Ladios' kernel.

I don't think its ladios' kernel, I've been running his kernel with the latest nightlies for several weeks now, and YouTube works fine for me.
YouTube works fine for me and im running ladios's rc4 rom on clean install.

[Q] Music app crash with JIBwich

I've just installed the JIBwich rom on my Desire Z.
Everything works fine, except i can't play music.
The music app crashes when i'm trying to start it.
I've installed another music app, but those can't play any music files i've got.
Does anyone have an idea about how to fix this?
I ask it here, because i can't post in the main topic of that rom...
If you looked through the thread, you would have seen that is a common problem with the ROM. The developer said he would include a new music app in an upcoming release.

I've already got the new release (1.2), it was already online on his upload place.
But it's fixed, don't know what the problem was.
I just reïnstalled to rom, but the problem was that I've done this also before creating this thead, and it wasn't fixed.
But with a second reflash, the problem was fixed.
So I needed to flash the rom 3 times, but now it works.
Strange thing...
Stock app isn't very good anyways. Poweramp offers many many more features

Phone Call Recorder

I know this has been discussed in other threads, but I have to give my recent account and hope it helps others. I have a rooted Nexus 5. I used the One Click Root which was an unbelievably easy root. I am using stock KitKat. I tried finding a phone call recorder, but nothing would work. I finally found the Total Recall app, which worked for a while but decided it was going to work some days but not others. On any given day it would work for a few hours, quit for several and then start again. I emailed back and forth with Killer Mobile, but nothing worked. After reading through the XDA forums on the subject I stumbled across a couple of threads regarding the Call Recorder App from Skvalex. I heard some good things about it so I downloaded it along with Skvalex's AlsaMixer. I read somewhere that you needed that app as well. Don't know if that's true, but I downloaded AlsaMixer first and then Call Recorder. Call Recorder works great. I get a clear sound from both ends of the conversation and it works all the time. I have a week before I have to pay for it, but I can't figure out how to pay. You download the app for free, and in the settings there is a place that says to "buy the full version", but when you do it takes you to Google Play and the download. Beats me. Anyway, the app is working great for me. I don't know how it would work if you are not rooted or are flashing a different ROM. But if you are rooted and with stock KitKat, then this should work for you.

You should uninstall a trial version before purchase the app. ALSA isn't required for CAF recording method which is default for Nexus 5.

I did uninstall it and installed the pay app. It works just as well as the beta version. I'm sold. I will uninstall AlsaMixer.

That explains why I thought I didn't need alsa then. Was surprised on my aosp rom that it only records my side of the conversation without alsa. I didn't realise stock was CAF.

Awesome!
Good to know they are aware of the sound and brightness issues.
great post, thanks mate
It's good that they mention the sound in games, but what about the sound issues over A2DP and at times out of the headphone jack? Hope they are aware of them as separate issues.

I have a feeling that the problem with stereo Bluetooth might be different, but I'll be very happy indeed if I'm wrong.
I have limited data each month so I'll have to wait until Friday when Xiaomi.EU release their multi language ROM.

Does the screen support it? I know the SoC does, in theory (it also supports MHL but were not going to get that).
If you install a third party launcher like Nova, you can add a shortcut to the home screen via activities that will let you get to a more default looking version of settings. In there you will find a setting to enable double tap to wake, but of course enabling it doesn't work.
Gesture support is not enabled in redmi note 2 kernel that is why it does not work and MIUI has not released kernel source yet.

One critical bug:
Apps from Google play store can't be installed without WLAN.
I try to explain it with my limited English.... When trying to download the app, the popup appears telling something like; the file is very big, do you want to install it with WiFi or not. Answering I DO NOT want to use WiFi, the download bar appears with text; waiting for WiFi connection.
So, without WiFi the phone is useless because this bug.
I have 150Mb LTE but cannot install anything
I live in Finland and I have to get overseas data roaming checked to get data connection (LTE) working.

I saw a way to download large apps from the Play Store without WiFi mentioned in this Note 2 FAQ http://en.miui.com/thread-144562-1-1.html
Here:
http://en.miui.com/thread-18396-1-1.html
Go to Downloads, tap ...(right upper corner),Settings, download size limit, unlimited.
Million thanks!!! :victory:
I would have never found it. Tried to look it at the settings of play store.

Now when in here...Does anyone know how to tell the phone it is in Finland now? I really dont want to use overseas tethering to get mobile data working.
Today's multi language ROM from xiaomi.EU seems to fix some bugs. I think stereo Bluetooth is stutter free now, though the quality of audio seems to have deteriorated (if you see what I mean). Sound in Dead Space is as bad as ever. Epic Citadel seems better.
Hi, I have the same problem in MIUI 66.66.74.00 but the catch is that i wont' see any "download" app if the vendor has deleted it by mistake how could I get it?
thanks Alberto
Thanks...
