[Q] Music app crash with JIBwich - G2 and Desire Z General

I've just installed the JIBwich rom on my Desire Z.
Everything works fine, except i can't play music.
The music app crashes when i'm trying to start it.
I've installed another music app, but those can't play any music files i've got.
Does anyone have an idea about how to fix this?
I ask it here, because i can't post in the main topic of that rom...

If you looked through the thread, you would have seen that is a common problem with the ROM. The developer said he would include a new music app in an upcoming release.

I've already got the new release (1.2), it was already online on his upload place.
But it's fixed, don't know what the problem was.
I just reïnstalled to rom, but the problem was that I've done this also before creating this thead, and it wasn't fixed.
But with a second reflash, the problem was fixed.
So I needed to flash the rom 3 times, but now it works.
Strange thing...

Stock app isn't very good anyways. Poweramp offers many many more features

[Q] mms issues across the board?

After reading a post in the vanilla 2 forums about someone else having problems with mms...I got to thinking I wonder if mine still works with my wife's env3. Send a small video msg to my phone and low and behold, while I receieved the msg just fine...when it tried to play the video I'd see the first frame..then nothing. The progress bar would continue to run through but the video itself was not going, nor was the sound. I tried kaos v32, nonsensikal 5.4, celb 2.3, vanilla rom beta 2, tainted tenzo, ALLL of which had the SAME issue. While I had kaos installed I thought maybe its the messenger app so I tried chompsms...SAME exact issue. I DO have some videos on my sd card that play just fine. I changed the resolution that my wife's phone sends at still to no avail. ONLY thing I found that DID work is I installed xtrRom 4.0.6.1 and that DOES show the mms video properly. Any ideas? While I'm not knocking xtr but any chance...it'd be nice to know what the issue is and/or be able to use other roms.
The issue is specific to AOSP ROMs..
xtrROM has a vanilla feel but runs the stock HTC framework and messaging app. The HTC libraries and decoders are largely proprietary in my experience so they are not easy to just port over to AOSP...
Nice testing & feedback and I know tenzomonk is looking into it...

Yes this is not really an mms issue but more likely a video codec issue....do you know what file format the video messages are sent in? Although I would think the messages would be sent in 3gp if recorded on a cell phone so they really should play. Is there an option to save the video to the phone and then try to open it?
I was thinking it might be a format issue as well but they're 3gp format so should be able to play. Someone on irc did mention I could save the video and it might work but shouldn't this be able to be done by default? Hopefully someone can figure out a fix without having to save or install an additional app

[Q] MP3 Player issue with ViperROM [SynErgY]

I know this post should be in the development section, but since I'm a noob and haven't posted my required 10 postings to post in that section I'm gonna ask here in GENERAL....
So I flashed the new ViperROM [SynErgY] and I can say that I LOVE the speed and performance and haven't had any major issues so far... however, I have noticed that with the last 3 MP3 apps I have downloaded from the market I haven't been able to download songs??? I have used all three of them in the past while I was on other ROM's, so I know it's not an issue with the apps from the market....
Has anyone else had any issues using any MP3 players with this ROM? If so do you have any fixes or other MP3 apps that would work?
And a quick shout out to Team Viper.... You guys do some great work!!!

[Q] CM7 & YouTube

(This probably belongs in dev forum, but I can't post there yet.)
I'm wondering about the status of CM7 and the YouTube app. I've heard comments that it doesn't work... but it works for me *after* opening a video from Opera Mini.
1) Open YouTube app, play video == sound, but no video.
2) Tried in standard browser, only plays in browser if I change user-agent
3) Tried in Opera Mini, clicking a video launches the YouTube app and it plays.
4) YouTube app now appears to work fine.
Any idea what's going on with this?
EDIT: I'm running Ladios' CM7-RC4-KANG ROM.
I just opened the YouTube app for the first time since a clean install of CM7 RC4 (w/ Ladios's kernel). I had installed the YouTube app days ago when I did the clean install, but haven't run it until now. (I know for sure because it just asked me if I want to accept the agreement when it started.) I just clicked on the first video I could find and it played with video and sound without any problem. I'm not sure why you're having problems.

+1 - new install of YouTube on CM7 N37, no problem playing any videos.
Interesting. Maybe I was just experiencing a glitch then. I'll update the thread if I encounter the issue again. Originally I was thinking that Opera may have caused a particular module to load that the YouTube app hasn't. If I'm able to reproduce the situation in my original post and stock CM7 works then maybe it's Ladios' kernel.

I don't think its ladios' kernel, I've been running his kernel with the latest nightlies for several weeks now, and YouTube works fine for me.
YouTube works fine for me and im running ladios's rc4 rom on clean install.

Navigation Volume too low

Hi guys, I have an issue with Sat Nav volume. I will try to break it down simply:
Sat Nav [CoPilot and Navigator tested]
Music app [PowerAMP and HTC Music tested]
Audio cable [3.5mm audio jack - plugged into car stereo]
Sound settings all full [set in Quick Settings and also manually set Navigation Volume when Google Navigator is running]
Audio is fine when any music app playing [with or without cable]
Audio is fine when any Sat Nav voice playing [with or without cable]
Audio is fine when any Sat Nav + any Music app both playing (music cuts out and voice becomes audible) [WITHOUT CABLE]
--- Sat Nav voices becomes too low to hear when both Sat Nav and Music playing with cable plugged in ---
This was working perfectly fine on stock HTC (both Froyo and GB) with kernel Buzz OCUV 1.0.6.
I have only seen this issue since flashing Android Revolution HD 5.1.9 > 5.1.10 > 5.1.11 . I have tried different kernels ( Stock ARHD > UnityV2 > UnityV3 ) and also retried Buzz OCUV 1.0.6 but the issue still remains.
Does anybody have any ideas as to what could be the problem?
Anybody have any ideas at all?

I've always had this issue too, All I have been doing is lower the music volume to half, set Navigation Volume to Full and then increase the car volume instead
According to google support forum, It looks like the issue is caused by GB 2.3.3, 2.3.2 does not have this problem so it seems downgrading is the only fix.
I have the same exact problem unfortunately.
I'm guessing you're using Google Navigation instead of HTC's Locations Premium Navigation?
I'm currently on 2.3.3, and I don't really have a problem with any bad navigation volumes. If you're not okay with paying to try out Locations Navigation, don't worry, you have a 1 month worldwide navigation license which you can activate and use for free without any restrictions.
Thanks for your 'input' Vious, but the issue remains no matter what satnav is used, premium or not.
It is a confirmed 2.3.3 issue with multiple threads on the google code forums

I hope they fix this soon. Such a GIGANTIC issue... i can't believe this isn't at all critical for them.
Same problem for me, Copilot support could not fix it for me also, claiming it was a problem with android not them. Used to work on Version 8.x.x.606
If this affects all versions of Android above 2.3.2 then it looks as if I have little choice but to buy an iphone or wp7 phone next, Google are unbelievable sometimes!
6 months and still no fix, I love Android and would hate to switch but this is a complete joke!!!

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to share my solution for this same problem that I've been having since upgrading to the new gingerbread. Note though that this is no longer an issue if you're using the latest google navigation app, but if you're like me and you like to use an offline nav app like CoPilot, then this solution should work for you.
Since this problem was introduced in gingerbread 2.3.3, I thought I would try replacing the libaudiopolicy.so library with one from a gingerbread 2.3.2 rom I had laying around and voila, that seemed to have solved the problem! I haven't tested this thoroughly, but it seems to be working so far. I hope this helps anyone else out there that is still suffering from this issue.
Could you post the file? Also, have you encountered any issues so far?
Perhaps post this in the previously mentioned google code pages for more testers....

Here you go! This one is for sense based roms.
No issues so far!!
Perhaps when I have a little bit more time, I'll post a link to this thread in those referenced google pages.

Nice one I'll give this a try
I presume the libaudiopolicy.so file you posted is from a Sense ROM, it didn't work for me as I'm running BlackIce which is CM based.
Downloaded an early CM7 nightly based on 2.2.3, copied that file over and it worked!
I have updated the previously referenced Google pages.
Attached is the CM7 2.3.2 libaudiopolicy.so if anyone wants it.

Yes, sorry, forgot to mention that. I've updated my post so now it won't confuse anyone else.
I'm glad the one from CM7 worked for you!

Thanks hexion, you see this is exactly what I have been trying to say all this time - it must be something slightly changed in some audio file somewhere between 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 . I just have no idea about Linux / Android so never knew where to look for such things.
Now all we need is to compare these to see where the changes lie and try to patch the most current libaudiopolicy.so with only the previous Navigation settings, leaving all other new things as is.

Hey rgrover, I'm also on CM7.1 Nightly. I tried renaming old file to libaudiopolicy.so.bak and copied the file you supplied into system/lib but now my device will not load past white HTC screen after reboot. Any advice?
UPDATE: it's OK it seems it was just a permissions problem. Everything working fine now
Hexion, you f**king treat !
My DHD is now pure perfection, with CM7.1 installed and this Sat Nav fix. Everything works at it should and I need nothing else from a phone (apart from battery life, but hopefully I can get Daemon Controller on CM7 at some point with better kernel).
If I had mone I would buy you a bottle JD (actually I would buuy myself one lol, maybe share with you XD )
Apparently, this fix for sat nav apps does not work for Google Navigation and TuneInRadio according to chykal1 on the google page. Music will not be lowered when the nav voice comes on. So if you use TuneInRadio a lot, you probably shouldn't apply this fix. Maybe when someone patches the latest libaudiopolicy.so, then we'll have a true solution.

JB i9001 video problem

Hey,
I have isntalled the latest version of doomsday's jb but everytime i try to watch a video (not just throught YouTube) my UI reboots...
Does anyone know the cause and knows how to fix it or can explain to me what the problem is so i can try and fix it myself??
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda app-developers app
First of all, if you took the time to read through the thread you would have found this problem. Also, the problem was in the first post...
Second of all, "latest" is a relative term, so in the future specify which one you mean.
Last of all try DoomNEXUS, The video works there. Camera + Mic still doesn't work but doonsmay94 announced he found a way to make it work, so were waiting on a release.
If you don't want to install the new rom just yet, try installing "MX Player" from the play store, before you play a video, go into settings, and select "SW decoder". That should also work.
