Myself and others lost video playback with the new update and you'll have to reinstall version 10.2.156.12 keep this in mind before updating!
Could you be a little more clear? What do you mean, you'll have to reinstall? Do you mean videos will work if we uninstall then install the new version?
Maybe you need to upgrade again. I upgraded this morning and Flash vids are working fine. But mine shows as v10.2.157.51.

When riggs and I downloaded the latest flash build from the market flash videos would not play, we could hear sound but not see video. Others on cm7 across other phones reported similar issues.. but maybe some will be lucky and not have the issue.
It looks like a YouTube issue. On YT videos I'm having the same problem but Flash pr0n works just fine

mlb.com, biologos.org, cinemassacre.com and other sites weren't working for me and I know riggs couldn't get mlb.com to play. Audio only, video was not working.

Huh. Xvideos works just fine =)
EDIT: Guess I'll roll back anyways. Never know when I might have trouble sleeping and need to visit mlb.com.

Yeah i'm not sure if this is a cm7 issue or a flash issue, someone should let toast know
Now that the netflix app is officially out for android (but only for supported phones), is there any way to make it work on the Shift before it's officially a supported device?
Using the attached apk, which is the market release, I can log in and view my queue. I haven't gotten a video to work yet, but I'm in the process of checking.
tldr;
App works on Evo Shift, so far. I am on CM 7.3.1 running ScaryKernel 1.8.
Edit:
Unfortunately, I cannot get a movie to play. I can choose a movie and it goes to the red loading screen but the movie will not start. Loads to black screen with a second of noise then crashes back to the Netflix app home screen.
There is the possibility that my data connection is at fault. I have no wifi connection where I am and my 3G speeds are lackluster here in mid-Michigan. I will try more later when I have a steadier connection.
Ok. The apk I had found wouldn't load, thought it was an issue with compatibility. But it looks like it'll work with the version you posted, thanks.
It doesn't quite seem to work to play videos. I can hear sound, but no video. I tried it on 3G and on the WiFi here at work (26 down).
Same issue here on 4g, 3g, and wifi. It seems to do everything except streaming. The video and audio begin to load and then crashes.

i got it working on my rom. gotta have flash 10.3. only issue is volume kinda low. looking for a fix for that.
What ROM are you using?
I'm using CM7 and it doesn't work and I have flash 10.3
Just get audio, no video and quits out after ten seconds
I'm using MIUI and adobe flash 10.3, no dice. App opens then just sits on a white screen.

Mind posting your methods for getting the app to work?
http://techland.time.com/2011/05/13/netflix-for-android-workaround/
1) Download ES File Explorer (Or any other root file editor) *** I used File Manager in Cyanogen Mod because ES File Explorer would not work
2) In ES File Explorer, go into Setting > Root Settings and enable both check boxes
3) Navigate to /system/ and copy/paste build.prop to /sdcard/ (just in case)
4) Open & edit /system/build.prop
5) Change the following lines to make your phone think it is an HTC G2:
--ro.product.model=HTC Vision
--ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
OR
--ro.product.model=Nexus S
--ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
6) Reboot the phone
7) Install the netflix apk (if you haven't already)
Enjoy

Anyone confirm this working? Does it affect anything else?
I can't get it to work. Every time I try to change the build.prop and then reboot, it reverts back to the original file. I got it to catch using ES, but it still doesn't work. I try playing, and it does the same thing as before. Sound (shaky), no video.
I did the mod to build.prop above (just the HTC Vision one since the other was already there) and checked that the flash was updated to newest version of 10.3.
It worked fine for me so long as I did not use the Resume on the first page after login and didn't try to skip to far forward during playback (just skip a little at a time or let it play through).
I used it on wifi in my house to play Ron White - They Call Me Tater Salad all the way through (a little under an hour) and played another while on 4G and had no issues other than those above. 3G seems worthless (maybe if you get a really good connection)...my usual connection is sloowww.
Overall - great video and sound...probably even better with a headset...
Edit: Evo(Shift)Nonsense 1.0 rom and no special kernel, just one with Nonsense rom. That being said, I can't address any failures in other roms because I don't know why mine works and others don't...
Also, I included my build.prop (editted with Notepad++ and named buildnf.prop) in the attached zip file...
PS - I have two versions of the build.prop file in my system folder, the original and the modified version and just renaming them back and forth seemed to work even without rebooting. Also, so far I haven't noticed any drawbacks to just leaving modded version in effect.

Could you be more specific about your Rom and Kernel and possibly upload your build.prop that works? Thanks.
I've tried editing my build.prop in every way possible that has been said to work and I cannot get anything to play for more than a second.
The video is loading, begins to play for a second, audio only, then crashes back to the Netflix home screen.
Sorry, meant to include this info in original post (I'll edit it too):
Evo(Shift)Nonsense 1.0 rom
no special kernel, just one with Nonsense rom.
(See first post above for build.prop file)
I've tried a few things. Netflix is just broke

Its not broken, if you are on a gingerbread rom then that isnt supported by the netflix app on evos.. So u have to use the workaround, the supported devices list shows the requirements

Not sure why but I can't get Netflix to work. Changed the build.prop as suggested and only get about 10 of audio.. no vid. I'm running MIUI and don't really want to change ROMs, any suggestions?

I did the g2 changes in her build.prop rebooted and turned on 4g thats it heres a pic of cheers it was the first thing that came up. it's a rooted stock evoshift. Havent got it working on my epic but since the nexus s requires 2.3 I'm resigned to thinking i won't have it till gingerbread.

I can confirm that it for sure works on the Nonsense ROM as stated by hdmunger.
I also used the mediaclient-1.apk found in this thread.
I also edited the prop build to HTC Vision
It did not work under CM7, but it DOES WORK UNDER NONSENSE ROM AND MEDIACLIENT-1
I've just installed the JIBwich rom on my Desire Z.
Everything works fine, except i can't play music.
The music app crashes when i'm trying to start it.
I've installed another music app, but those can't play any music files i've got.
Does anyone have an idea about how to fix this?
I ask it here, because i can't post in the main topic of that rom...
If you looked through the thread, you would have seen that is a common problem with the ROM. The developer said he would include a new music app in an upcoming release.

I've already got the new release (1.2), it was already online on his upload place.
But it's fixed, don't know what the problem was.
I just reïnstalled to rom, but the problem was that I've done this also before creating this thead, and it wasn't fixed.
But with a second reflash, the problem was fixed.
So I needed to flash the rom 3 times, but now it works.
Strange thing...
Stock app isn't very good anyways. Poweramp offers many many more features
Hey,
I have isntalled the latest version of doomsday's jb but everytime i try to watch a video (not just throught YouTube) my UI reboots...
Does anyone know the cause and knows how to fix it or can explain to me what the problem is so i can try and fix it myself??

First of all, if you took the time to read through the thread you would have found this problem. Also, the problem was in the first post...
Second of all, "latest" is a relative term, so in the future specify which one you mean.
Last of all try DoomNEXUS, The video works there. Camera + Mic still doesn't work but doonsmay94 announced he found a way to make it work, so were waiting on a release.
If you don't want to install the new rom just yet, try installing "MX Player" from the play store, before you play a video, go into settings, and select "SW decoder". That should also work.
I just got a nexus 10 and it seems like the videos I watch are choppy. You tube shudders when playing videos and I can't use my player on hw mode because it is choppy as well. Sw seems fine on my video. Does anyone have a solution to fix the choppy video in YouTube?
hunter99507,
My experience with Youtube on a N10 is only over the last 3 days but I am not having the issues you describe. I did get random stutter with the IMDB app during Movie trailer playback.
My N10 is unlocked, rooted, upgraded to Android 4.2.2. I flashed:
1) The "SentinelROM v4.00 - CM10.1 Source - Fast, Stable, Themed":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121638
2) Also flashed the "KTManta" Kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2015874
3) Installed the "KTweakerT App 2.9" app
4) Using the "KTweakerT App 2.9" app:
a Configure the UC/OC governor to "ktoonservative"
b) In the "ktoonservative settings" change disable_hotplug to 1 instead of 0
c) Set the scheduler to "zen"
5) Use the settings specified in #4 for a while to make sure everything is stable and addresses your YouTube issue. Note that the settings go back to default after rebooting. If they do solve your issue then use "KTweakerT App 2.9" app to have the settings initalized at startup/reboot time.
You probably do not need to do all the above but it works for me.
Doug
I'm running stock rom and I have shuddering issues.

There's your problem. If you want improved performance you need to install custom recovery and try other ROMs and kernels. AOKP, Rasbeanjelly, Sentinel, and EOS are all top notch. CleanROM is great too if you want more of a stock feel with added performance.
Once you settle on a ROM, test out different kernels to see which performs best for you.
You have a lot more to gain, overall, by trying a custom ROM than what you're limited to on stock.
