Hey guys I got a problem with the touchscreen of my nexus 4.
So, today I noticed that my phone is doing weird things, like open up the clock app and swiping between the homescreen by itself.
And I realized that there is a dead spot (or row) that is not working. It's like 1cm in the upper part of the screen. (I think it's similar to this problem)
Attached you can find some pictures of the test I made.
As you can see the lower part is working perfectly, but the upper part is not (I drew a solid line!)
Any one else got this problem? Do I have to return it? If so, where?
Edit: I did a bit of research and it seems to be something called the "ghost touch" bug... Anyone got this issue before? I think I have to return it
Try a factory restore. For me personally i had to replace the whole digitzer and LCD. Weird since I updated and the middle ofy screen stopped working as well

I haven't seen this one posted before, but i turned on my N7 yesterday and it shows the left side of the screen darker than the right. Right down the middle. I checked and it does it in recovery too, so I'm assuming this is HW. I haven't installed anything new on it in week or two anyways. I tried it at different brightness settings as well. Anyone seen this one or have any suggestions? It hasn't been dropped or anything. It's been in a case too.
Definitely hardware and needs to be replaced.

Ever since the recent update, the touch screen seems less sensitive and slightly out of calibration.
anyone know how to re-calibrate the touch screen?

I would try this..
Go to settings, then language and input, then Samsung keyboard settings, then handwriting, then recognition time. This may or may not solve your problem but it's worth a shot!

My issue as of late is that when I click on small links surrounded by other links on a web page using the stylus, an adjacent link often opens. I am using the hover-dot for the stylus, and both it and the tip of the stylus hit the link that I want, but it actuates another one. The work-around is that I have to double-tap-zoom the screen and tap the link I want, then I can zoom back out.
Anyone else having this problem?
JC
I am also using the zoom feature to open the links. It's a bit annoying, but a workaround...for now
Hey, I still am on the very first version of the note firmware because I don't want to screw up s note.
I get the problem you are describing once in a while, specially if the tablet hasn't been rebooted for days. My solution is a simple reboot and then the responsiveness of the touch is perfect again.
Also to mention is another issue which I get after a few days once in a while, the screen resolution all of a sudden seems messed up. The colors turn out weird and u can see definately more pixels. Maybe the display improving system of the note screen gets turned off some how and i get the pure 1280x800 screen. Luckily a reboot also fixes this. Also both issues happen very very rarely, maybe once a week.

I've found mine doing this too, however it's done it twice in the four days I've had it, it's making me think about exchanging and/or sending it back. Mine is an N8000 International 3G one.
My new Note too

I got a new Note 10.1 about a month ago (July 2013) and I believe it already had the updated version. The touch worked perfectly for about two weeks then - bang - can't touch link at all if it's small, can't get right link if they are close... Sometimes I don't know if I'm trying to touch a link that's "grayed out" or if I'm having a touch problem. I've even had to rub at a link to get it to work. But the keyboard and system buttons seem to work fine???????? How bad do dry hands/fingers affect touch?

So I cracked the top corner of my screen and now the top half doesn't respond to touch. I was wondering if it would be possible to fix this without purchasing a new screen. I'm not too sure how digitizers work, but I was guessing since the bottom half works fine, maybe a connection came loose and I can fix it without purchasing any parts. Does anyone have experience with this?

I`am afraid you have to have the screen replaced. Can`t fix this any other way. The digitizer is part of the screen and will be replaced as well. Had that once with a S3. It will cost you about 200-250 euro`s.
Your only option is to get a screen replacement or send it LG to do it for you. I had to replace my screen a couple of months ago. I did it myself. Really easy to do, its just expensive. I paid close to $200 for my screen replacement.

Was about to start a new thread when I found this one. Here is what my first post would have been (seems to be software rather than hardware issue):
When I try to pull down my notification bar, I can't. My phone recognizes my touch, but only as it would be just below the notification bar. When I add a second finger, it works perfectly. The same goes for the bottom of my screen. These "half-dead" zones move with the hardware when I turn the screen, not the UI. A restart made it work for about 5 seconds.
Any ideas? Could be a service/app that starts and blocks something, but haven't installed anything in a while now. Also have been going on this ROM for about 1 week now without any problems.
About my phone:
Nexus 4
4.2.2
ParanoidAndroid 3.60
Attachements
1. Here I have my finger on the very top of the screen, but it only recognizes my x-coordinates properly
2. Dito, but in the bottom
3. One finger in the middle, then trying to pull downwards with other fingers and it recognizes it all, both using two and three fingers in total.
For a few weeks my G2 was showing some very weird touchscreen issues, like ghost touches and dead spots where touching wouldn't do any good. Although the former problem seems to have been gone, the latter looks kinda permanent. But yesterday another problem showed up: my cellphone will only recognize touches if I long-press the screen for like three seconds. Eventually if I'm typing some password the touchscreen will work as well as ever but only for a short time, then I'll have to press the screen for three seconds for every touch I want to be registered by the device. Anyone has had this before or heard about this? Is there a fix? I looked at lots of threads before and none of them seemed to sympathize with my issues.
It looks hardware failure. My advise would be try and go into service menu and then settings and update touch firmware. You never know it might work

That was my first bet. It didn't help much.
I had the same problem and it comes back with random conditions. I had the digitizer replaced (not the complete LCD panel) which had my problem fixed for almost six seven months until the problem showed up again but the dead zone moved Much lower than before. I have not gone for LCD replacement because i don't know if it will fix my problem. There are numerous threads here. Go try them Maybe they will work out for you.
I first noticed this happening in a YouTube video about the phone, but figured it was just a fluke. I've now begun to notice that I too have problems when tapping items in the upper corners of the phone.
Many times I'll tap a menu item and nothing happens. Even subsequent taps do not always register a press. I'm using stock everything.
Is anyone else experiencing this with their Pro3?
It Is not a problem, you have to be more accurate when you touch the corners!

Believe me, I've tried everything to see if it's my own fault, but it's not.
It's bug or feature? Any MIUI/CM user can confirm?

Same here, 100% accuracy. Stock 5.8.019S with Google Now launcher
My Le pro 3 also has issues with the upper corners. Le eco is aware of the problem. Hopefully it can fixed in the future. http://forum.le.com/us/index.php?threads/issues-with-touchscreen.3885/

Mine also has the issue, however, only when I use my thumbs for some reason. When I use my fingers I do not have the problem. If you go into developer options, under input, select show touches. With that setting enabled you can see the touches that the phone actually registers and which ones it misses. If the developer options are not visible to you, go to about phone in the settings menu, and tap build number several times until they become enabled.
i also have this problem BUT ive realized that its caused by my screen protector. Try switching to one that doesn't cover the bezel since those that do, tend not to completely cover the middle and corners of the phone due to the phone's curved glass. that should solve the problem.

I'm just using the factory installed screen protector.
Screen protectors are a nightmare on these things.
Not screen protector
This is not a screen protector issue. Guys, don't go ripping yours off, it doesn't help. I tried before. This is a firmware or panel issue. The company already recognizes this as a previous poster linked to it. I also started a thread about this issue weeks ago.
I also notice this issue on stock and CM.
me too

Thanks for the heads up. I was going to order a new screen protector to try to fix this issue, now I"ll wait.

I think you're right. I updated last night and haven't had any upper corner touch issues. Props for LeEco on fixing it so quickly.
Update: It has been 3 days and I haven't had a single upper corner miss touch since the 20s update. I'm really happy that it got fixed.

I noticed the same thing after updating to .20S. At first I thought it might be the factory screen protector but glad it was just a software issue.
